| 1 | Reduced bone mineral density and altered bone turnover markers in patients with non-cirrhotic chronic hepatitis B or C infection显示文摘AIM: Previous studies suggest that loss of bone mineral density (BMD) frequently occurs in patients with chronic viral liver disease, presenting with histologically proven liver cirrhosis. However, little is known about the occurrence of bone disease in non-cirrhotic patients with chronic hepatitis B or C. Therefore, it was the aim of this study to evaluate this particular population for BMD and bone turnover markers.METHODS: Biochemical markers of bone turnover and BMD were measured in 43 consecutive patients with HCV (n = 30)or HBV (n = 13) infection without histological evidence for liver cirrhosis. Mean age was 49 years (range 26-77 years). BMD was measured by dual X-ray absorptiometry in the femoral neck (FN) and the lumbar spine (LS) region. In addition, bone metabolism markers were measured.RESULTS: BMD was lowered in 25 (58%) of the patients with chronic hepatitis B or C (FN: 0.76 (0.53-0.99); LS:0.96 (0.62-1.23) g/cm2). Eight (32%) osteopenic patients were diagnosed with osteoporosis. Bone-specific alkaline phosphatase (P = 0.005) and intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH) (P = 0.001) were significantly elevated in the more advanced stages of fibrosis. Mean 7-score value was lower in patients with chronic hepatitis C as compared to patients suffering from chronic hepatitis B; however, the difference was not statistically significant (P = 0.09).CONCLUSION: There was a significantly reduced BMD in non-cirrhotic patients with chronic hepatitis B or C infection. Alterations of bone metabolism already occurred in advanced liver fibrosis without cirrhosis. | 2 | Contrast enhanced ultrasound of renal masses显示文摘Contrast enhanced ultrasound(CEUS) has gained clinical importance over the last years for the characterization of hepatic masses.Its role in extrahepatic indications has been investigated repeatedly but has been less comprehensively studied.Currently more than 50% of renal masses are incidentally diagnosed,mostly by B-mode ultrasound.The method of choice for characterization of renal lesions is contrast enhanced computed tomography(CECT).In the case of cystic lesions CECT refers to the Bosniak classification for cystic lesions to assess the risk of malignant behavior.The majority of masses are renal cell carcinoma,but the exact proportion is controversial.Disadvantages of CECT are a significant risk for patients with impaired renal function,allergic reactions and hyperthyroidism due to iodinated contrast agents.Several studies concerning CEUS for the characterization of both solid and cystic renal lesions have been published,but prospective multicenter studies are missing,the presented data being mainly descriptive.The aim of the this manuscript is to review the current literature for CEUS in renal masses,to summarize the available data and focus on possible concepts for studies in the future. | Andre Ignee Bad Mergentheim Gudrun Schuessler Christoph Frank Dietrich | 2010 | World Journal of Radiology2010，2，1： | 11 |

The principle of connecting not only the vascular supply, but also sensitive nerves, in free tissue transfer is attractive. However, increased operating time and partial spontaneous innervation led to the common decision to restrict microsurgical tissue transfer to the vascular anastomosis and to leave the nerves 'untreated'. Nevertheless, in special cases such as breast reconstruction or extremity reconstruction, the question about sensory nerve coaptation of the flaps remains open. | 11 | Synthesis and thermoelectric properties of Rashba semiconductor BiTeBr with intensive texture显示文摘Bismuth tellurohalides with Rashba-type spin splitting exhibit unique Fermi surface topology and are developed as promising thermoelectric materials. However,BiTeBr, which belongs to this class of materials, is rarely investigated in terms of the thermoelectric transport properties. In the study, polycrystalline bulk BiTeBr with intensive texture was synthesized via spark plasma sintering(SPS). Additionally, its thermoelectric properties above room temperature were investigated along both the inplane and out-plane directions, and they exhibit strong anisotropy. Low sound velocity along two directions is found and contributes to its low lattice thermal conductivity. Polycrystalline BiTeBr exhibits relatively good thermoelectric performance along the in-plane direction,with a maximum dimensionless figure of merit(ZT) of 0.35 at 560 K.
