| 2 | Sudden cardiac death caused by myocarditis in persons aged 1-49 years:a nationwide study of 14 294 deaths in Denmark显示文摘Myocarditis is associated with an increased risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD) in the young.However,Information on nationwide burden of SCD caused by myocarditis (SCD-myocarditis) is sparse.For this study all deaths among persons in Denmark aged 1-35years in 2000-2009 and 36-49years in 2007-2009 (27.1 million person-years) were induded.Autopsy reports,death certificates,discharge summaries,and nationwide registries were used to identify all cases of SCD-myocarditis.In the 10-year study period,there were 14294 deaths,of which we identified 1 363 (10%) SCD.Among autopsied SCD (n=753,55%),cause of death was myocarditis in 42 (6%) cases corresponding to an SCD-myocarditis incidence of 0.16 (95%CI: 0.11-0.21) per 100000 person-years.Males had significantly higher incidence rates of SCD-myocarditis compared to females with an incidence rate ratio of 2.2 (95%CI:1.1-4.1).Myocarditis was not registered as cause of death In any of the non-autopsied SCD (n=610,45%).In conclusion,after nationwide unselected Inclusion of 14294 deaths,we found that 6% of all autopsied SCD was caused by myocarditis.No cases of SCD-myocarditis were reported in the non-autopsied SCD,which could reflect underdiagnosing of myocarditis in non-autopsied SCD.Furthermore,our data suggest a female protection towards SCDmyocarditis. | Thomas Hadberg Lynge Trine Skov Nielsen Bo Gregers Winkel Jacob Tfelt-Hansen Jytte Banner | 2019 | Forensic Sciences Research2019，4，3： | 3 |
| 3 | Electrogastrography: Poor correlation with antro-duodenal manometry and doubtful clinical usefulness in adults显示文摘AIM: To investigate if there is a correlation between electrical activity measured by electrogastrography (EGG) and contractile activity of the stomach as measured by antroduodenal manometry (ADM). We also studied whether the underlying motility disorder could be predicted from EGG parameters. METHODS: We compared 21 parameters measured from EGG with 8 parameters measured from ADM. The ability of EGG to identify the underlying diagnosis was tested by comparing EGG parameters for each diagnosis group against other patients. The study comprised recordings from 148 patients and 125 females. Their median age was 45 (range 17-76) years. RESULTS: We found few and weak correlations between EGG and ADM. Specifically the correlation between parameters reflecting the response to meal was poor (r = -0.07, P = 0.39). The discriminatory power of EGG for underlying motility disorder was also low. Patients with slow transit constipation (STC) showed a lower postprandial power in normogastric (3.7 ± 0.5 vs 4.0 ± 0.5) and tachygastric (3.5 ± 0.4 vs 3.7 ± 0.4) regions, a lower percentage of time with normogastria [87.2 (56.5-100)% vs 95.7 (0-100)%], and a higher percentage of time with tachygastria [9.3 (0-33)% vs 3.5 (0-100)%] and bradygastria [1.8 (0-20)% vs 0 (0-17.1)%]. Patients with irritable bowel syndrome had a higher percentage of time with normogastria [96.5 (62.5-100)% vs 93.3 (0-100)%] and a less unstable dominant frequency as measured by the instability coefficient [15 (3-77) vs 24 (2-72)]. CONCLUSION: EGG and ADM seem to measure different aspects of gastric motor activity but cannot show a spatial correlation. | 5 | Dog10K: an international sequencing effort to advance studies of canine domestication, phenotypes and health显示文摘Dogs are the most phenotypically diverse mammalian species, and they possess more known heritable disorders than any other non-human mammal. Efforts to catalog and characterize genetic variation across well-chosen populations of canines are necessary to advance our understanding of their evolutionary history and genetic architecture. To date, no organized effort has been undertaken to sequence the world’s canid populations. The Dog10 K Consortium(http://gffzz8e6b994fb05d4249hxxqvoo6kopcc65p6.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn kgenomes.org) is an international collaboration of researchers from across the globe who will generate 20× whole genomes from 10 000 canids in 5 years.This effort will capture the genetic diversity that underlies the phenotypic and geographical variability of modern canids worldwide. Breeds, village dogs, niche populations and extended pedigrees are currently being sequenced, and de novo assemblies of multiple canids are being constructed. This unprecedented dataset will address the genetic underpinnings of domestication, breed formation, aging, behavior and morphological variation. | 8 | Pacemaker implantation in a patient with brugada and sick sinus syndrome显示文摘Brugada syndrome (BrS) is a rare and inherited primary arrhythmic syndrome characterized by ST-segment elevations in the right precordial leads (V1 -V3 ) with an increased risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD). Arrhythmias in BrS are often nocturne, and brady-arrhythmias are often seen in patients with loss-of-function mutations in SCN5A . In this case-report we present a 75-year old woman referred to our outpatient clinic for inherited cardiac diseases for a familial clinical work-up. Since childhood she had suffered from dizziness, absence seizures, and countless Syncope's. In 2004 sick sinus syndrome was suspected and she wastreated with implantation of a pacemaker (PM) at another institution. An inherited cardiac disease was one day suddenly suspected, as the patient had a 61-year old brother who was diagnosed with symptomatic BrS, and treated with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) after aborted SCD. A mutation screening revealed a SCN5A [S231CfsX251 (c.692-693delCA )] loss-of-function mutation not previously reported, and as a part of the cascade screening in relatives she was therefore referred to our clinic. In the 7 year period after PM implantation she had experienced no cardiac symptoms, although her electrocardiogram changes now were consistent with a BrS type 1 pattern. A genetic test confirmed that she had the same mutation in SCN5A as her brother. In this case-report we present a loss-of function mutation in SCN5A not previously associated with BrS nor presented in healthy controls. Sinus node dysfunction has previously been documented in patients with symptomatic BrS, which suggests it is not a rare concomitant. The only accepted treatment of BrS is today implantation of an ICD.
