| 1 | Extent of lymphadenectomy and perioperative therapies:two open issues in gastric cancer显示文摘Gastric cancer is one of the leading causes of death for cancer worldwide,although geographical variations in incidence exist.Over the last decades,its incidence and mortality have gradually decreased in Western countries,while these have increased,or remained stable,in the other world regions.Gastric cancer is often diagnosed at an advanced stage,with the only notable exception of Japan,where nationwide screening programs are enforced,due to local high incidence.Curativeintent surgery(i.e.,gastrectomy,total or partial,and lymphadenectomy)remains the cornerstone of treatment of gastric cancer.Much has been debated about the extent of lymph node dissection and,although it is a valuable contribution to staging and cure,operative treatment only represents one aspect of overall effective management,as the risk of both locoregional and distant recurrences are high,and bear a poor prognosis.As a matter of fact,surgery,as a single modality treatment,has probably achieved its maximum efficacy for local control and survival,while other accompanying nonsurgical treatment modalities have to be taken into account,although their role is still the subject of considerable debate.The authors in this review present an update on the outcome of treatment of gastric cancer in relation to the extent of lymphadenectomy and of various nonsurgical preoperative,intraoperative,and postoperative strategies. | Andrea Giuliani Michelangelo Miccini Luigi Basso | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,14: | 14 |

| 4 | Clinical outcomes of ERCP-related retroperitoneal perforations显示文摘Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP)-related perforations represent rare but often severe conditions. While lesions with intraperitoneal perforation have an almost imperative indication to surgery, whether or not to manage retroperitoneal perforations surgically is still an area of debate. The aim of the present work was to review the available clinical evidence on the operatively and medi cally treated ERCP-related retroperitoneal perforations. From MEDLINE/Pub Med databases 137 patients with retroperito neal perforation were included from 12 studies that met the selection criteria for data investigation and analysis. Twenty four patients were treated by prompt surgery; 113 were primarily managed conservatively and about 20% of these patients required surgery subsequently. Overall, the morbid ity and mortality were 15.4% and 6.6%, respectively. Although most patients with retroperitoneal perforation may benefit from a non-operative management, a considerable number of patients fail to respond to medical treatment and require sur gery afterwards. | 7 | Dark matter direct search sensitivity of the PandaX-4T experiment显示文摘The Panda X-4T experiment, a 4-ton scale dark matter direct detection experiment, is being planned at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory. In this paper we present a simulation study of the expected background in this experiment. In a 2.8-ton fiducial mass and the signal region between 1-10 keV electron equivalent energy, the total electron recoil background is found to be 4.9 × 10^(-5) kg^(-1) d^(-1) keV^(-1). The nuclear recoil background in the same region is 2.8 × 10^(-7) kg^(-1) d^(-1) keV^(-1). | 12 | Colored bicycle lanes and intersection treatments:International overview and best practices显示文摘The use of colored pavements for bicycle facilities represents an interesting strategy for supporting the implementation of a high-quality cycling network. The distinctive coloration of dedicated lanes, tracks or shared paths provides a clearly delineated route, making the infrastructure more attractive as well as legible and intuitive, especially through intersections and junctions. The additional emphasis resulting from the coloring enhances a change in the road users' behavior, but its safety effectiveness seems to be particularly related to several site-specific contextual features. Although some of these benefits are well established and multiple applications of colored pavements are widespread around the world, most of cycling design standards and guides, which are usually written only in the language of the country that drafted them and are often difficult to find, completely lack in technical recommendations and concepts regarding the use of color for cycling provisions.Thus, based on an extensive worldwide literature search from more than 80 official design guidelines, manuals and standards and 50 scientific articles, the authors have structured a guided overview of the state of the art/practice concerning the use of color for bike facilities at the international level, including the latest innovative and experimental schemes. The review is not intended to be a summary of manuals, but is conceived as a decision-makers' and designers' tool for a rational planning, construction, maintenance and management of colored cycling infrastructures, able to favor a cultural and technical interchange. After a first section in which the main locations where to use colored surfaces were highlighted(corridor or spot treatments), the commonly used colors(red, green and blue) have been identified, explaining the hierarchical and/or combined reasons(regulatory and legal limitations, visual-perceptual aspects and application/maintenance requirements) behind this choice. | 13 | Beyond the SDG 15.3.1 Good Practice Guidance 1.0 using the Google Earth Engine platform: developing a self-adjusting algorithm to detect significant changes in water use efficiency and net primary production显示文摘Monitoring changes in Annual Net Primary Productivity(ANPP)is required for reporting on UN Sustainable Development Goal(SDG)Indicator 15.3.1:the proportion of land that is degraded over the total land area.Calibrating time-series observations of ANPP to derive Water Use Efficiency(WUE;a measure of ANPP per unit of evapotranspiration)can minimize the influence of climate factors on ANPP observations and highlight the influence of non-climatic drivers of degradation such as land use changes.Comparing the ANPP and WUE time series may be useful for identifying the primary drivers of land degradation,which could be used to support the Land Degradation Neutrality objectives of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification(UNCCD).This paper presents an algorithm for the Google Earth Engine(freely and openly available upon request-http://gffzzd3cc09b8251d45dfh6ck5x0xcouc56kvc.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/10.5281/zenodo.4429773)to calculate and compare ANPP and WUE time series for Santa Cruz,Bolivia,which has recently experienced an intensification in its land use.This code builds on the Good Practice Guidance document(ver-sion 1)for monitoring SDG Indicator 15.3.1.We use the MODIS 16-day average,250 m resolution to demonstrate that the Enhanced Vegetation Index(EVI)responds faster to changes in water avail-ability than the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI).We also consider the relationships between ANPP and WUE.Significant and concordant trends may highlight good agricultural practices or increased resilience in ecosystem structure and productivity when they are positive or reducing resilience and functional integrity if negative.The sign and significance of the correlation between ANPP and WUE may also diverge over time.With further analysis,it may be possible to interpret this relationship in terms of the drivers of change in plant productivity and ecosystem resilience. | Andrea Markos Neil Sims Gregory Giuliani | 2023 | Big Earth Data2023,7,1: | 3 |
