| 1 | Science Letters:Alterations in seedling vigour and antioxidant enzyme activities in Catharanthus roseus under seed priming with native diazotrophs显示文摘An experiment was conducted on Catharanthus roseus to study the effect of seed treatments with native diazotrophs on its seedling growth and antioxidant enzyme activities. The treatments had significant influence on various seedling parameters. There is no significant influence on dry matter production with the diazotrophs, Azospirillum and Azotobacter. However, the vital seedling parameters such as germination percentage and vigour index were improved. Azotobacter treatment influenced maximum of 50% germination, whereas Azospirillum and Azotobacter were on par with C. roseus with respect to their vigour index. There was significant difference in the population of total diazotrophs. Azospirillum and Azotobacter between rhizosphere and non-rhizosphere soils of C. roseus had the same trend and were observed at various locations of the study. The activities of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POX) and catalase (CAT) were increased to a significant extent due to the treatment with diazotrophs. | KARTHIKEYAN B. | 2 | 结核病的性别差异:南印度某农村地区DOTS项目报告显示文摘背景:南印度 Tiruvallur 地区。目的:了解 14 岁以上成年人在结核感染和患病、就医途径、就医行为、诊断延误、接受 DOT的方便程度、疾病歧视以及治疗依从性等方面的性别差异。方法:相关数据主要来自:1)社区调查,2)在公立初级保健卫生机构(PHIS)主动就医的病人,3)转诊到 PHIS 进行痰涂片检查的可疑结核病人;4)DOTS 策略下的登记报告结核病人。并将社区调查结果与 PHIS 登记病人进行比较。结果:社区人群中 66%的男性和 57%的女性感染了结核菌;男性和女性的涂阳肺结核患病率分别为568/10 万和87/10 万。在 PHIS 就医的男性少于女性,男女之比为 68:100。女性占社区调查发现涂阳病人的 13%;占 PHIS 发现病人的 20%(P<0.05)。随着年龄的增长,男性和女性的登记率显著降低。女性感觉难于与家人讨论自己病情的比例要高于男性(21%∶14%),也更需要有人陪伴去接受 DOT(11%∶6%)。男性的治疗中断率比女性高 1 倍(19%∶8%;P<0.01)。结论:尽管女性发病后更容易遭受歧视和不便,但女性更易于利用医疗服务、接受 DOTS 策略登记以及依从治疗。而男性以及高龄病人在诊断和 DOT服务方面更需要帮助。 | R. | 3 | Feature sensitive re-sampling of point set surfaces with Gaussian spheres显示文摘Feature sensitive simplification and re-sampling of point set surfaces is an important and challenging issue for many computer graphics and geometric modeling applications.Based on the regular sampling of the Gaussian sphere and the surface normals mapping onto the Gaussian sphere,an adaptive re-sampling framework for point set surfaces is presented in this paper,which includes a naive sampling step by index propagation and a novel cluster optimization step by normalized rectification.Our proposed re-sampling scheme can generate non-uniformly distributed discrete sample points for the underlying point sets in a feature sensitive manner.The intrinsic geometric features of the underlying point set surfaces can be preserved efficiently due to our adaptive re-sampling scheme.A novel splat rendering technique is adopted to illustrate the efficiency of our re-sampling scheme.Moreover,a numerical error statistics and surface reconstruction for simplified models are also given to demonstrate the effectiveness of our algorithm in term of the simplified quality of the point set surfaces. | MIAO YongWei BOSCH Jonas PAJAROLA Renato GOPI M. | 8 | 超声波辅助制革生产植物鞣制中的扩散过程显示文摘植物鞣制是一种使用天然材料并使皮革具有多种功能的鞣制方法。这种鞣制方法的缺点在于植物鞣剂(VTA)穿透皮基体需要很长时间。因此,有必要通过应用超声波等手段使这种传统的生态友好鞣制方法转变为制革人员喜欢的高效鞣制方法。本研究是有关超声波影响植物鞣制工艺的。研究了加工时间、超声波功率以及预鞣处理等重要过程参数对于植物鞣剂吸收率的影响。同时还研究了超声波功率对于成革收缩温度的影响。研究结果表明应用超声波能够显著加速植物鞣制过程。当应用120W~210W超声波时,植物鞣剂的吸收率约增加30%-40%。为了弄清楚超声波加速植物鞣制过程的机理,研究了预超声波处理对于基体(皮)以及鞣剂(VTA)的影响。在鞣制工序前的超声波预处理能明显降低植物鞣剂的尺寸从而促进鞣剂的渗透。从实验数据中计算得到的应用指定条件的超声波时,植物鞣剂的扩散系数(D)增加了1倍(D:2.64×10^-5cm^2/sec)。因此,在植物鞣制过程中应用超声波能够改进扩散速率从而明显节省加工时间并提高成革质量。这种鞣制方法能够方便地在常规划槽或鞣制系统中实现大规模加工。因此,这种新技术在不久的将来是可行的。 | V. | 9 | Modulational instability of optically induced nematicon propagation显示文摘We report the modulational instability(MI) analysis for the modulation equations governing the propagation of coherent polarized light through a nematic liquid crystal(NLC) slab, in the limit of low light intensity and local material response. The linear stability analysis of the nonlinear plane wave solutions is performed by considering both the wave vectors(k, l) of the basic states and wave vectors(K, L) of the perturbations as free parameters. We compute the MI gain, and the MI gain peak is reduced and the stable bandwidth is widened with the increase of the strength of the applied electric field. Further, we invoke the extended homogeneous balance method and Exp-function method aided with symbolic computation and obtain a series of periodic solitonic humps of nematicon profiles admitting the propagation of laser light in the NLC medium. | L.
