1Palaeoenvironmental changes from pollen record in deep sea core PC-1 from northern Okinawa Trough,East China Sea during the past 24 ka显示文摘A pollen record of core PC-1 from the northern Okinawa Trough,East China Sea(ECS),provides information on vegetation and climate changes since 24 cal.kaBP.A total of 103 samples were palynologically analyzed at 8 cm intervals with a time resolution of 230 a.Four pollen zones are recognized:zone I(812―715 cm,24.2―21.1 cal.kaBP),zone II(715―451 cm,21.1―15.2 cal.kaBP),zone III(451―251 cm,15.2―10.8 cal.kaBP),zone IV(251―0 cm,10.8―0.3 cal.kaBP),corresponding to Late MIS 3,Last Glacial Maximum(LGM),deglaciation and Holocene,respectively.The LGM is characterized by the dominance of herbs,mainly Artemisia,and high pollen influx,implying an open vegetation on the exposed continental shelf and a cool and dry climate.The deglaciation is a climate warming stage with Pinus percentage increased and Artemisia percentage decreased and a rapid sealevel rise.The Holo-cene is characterized by predominance of tree pollen with rapid increase in Castanea-Castanopsis in-dicating the development of mixed evergreen and deciduous broad-leaved forest and a warm,humid climate.Low pollen influx during the Holocene probably implies submergence of the continental shelf and retreat of the pollen source area.The vegetation indicated by pollen assemblage found in this upper zone is consistent with the present vegetation found in Kyushu,Japan.Originating from the humid mountain area of North Luzon of the Philippines,Tasmania and New Zealand,Phyllocladus with sporadic occurrence throughout PC-1 core probably suggests the influence of Palaeo-Kuroshio Current or intense summer monsoon.The observed changes in Pinus and Herbs percentage indicate fluctuations of the sea level,and high Pinus percentage corresponds to high sea level.Spectrum analysis of the pollen percentage record reveals many millennial-scale periodicities,such as periodicities of 6.8,3.8,2.2,1.6 ka.XU HongYan CHANG FengMing LUO YunLi SUN XiangJun 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,20:9
2An ethnobotanical study of forage plants in Zhuxi County in the Qinba mountainous area of central China显示文摘In the Qinba mountainous area of Central China,pig farming has a significant impact on the growth of the rural economy and has substantially increased farmer incomes.Traditional knowledge plays an important role in the selection of forage plant species for pig farming by local people.This study aimed to identify the forage plants used for pig feeding and to catalog indigenous knowledge regarding their use.During 2016 and 2017,ethnobotanical surveys and inventories were conducted in Zhuxi County,Hubei Province,China.Data were collected using semi-structured interviews,key informant reports,free listings,guided field walks,and participatory observations with 77 households in 16 villages in 13 towns/townships.The obtained data were analyzed using a relative frequency citation(RFC)index.Overall,145 wild forage plants from 91 genera and 31 families were recorded.The most cited families were Asteraceae,Polygonaceae,Urticaceae,Amaranthaceae,Fabaceae,Cruciferae,Caryophyllaceae,and Lamiaceae.Whole plants(75.9%)and tender leaves(12.4%)were the most frequently used parts of the plants.Most of the forage plants were herbaceous(88.9%).Almost all forage plants could be collected throughout the year(62.7%).Raw and cooked were the two main preparation methods.The most frequently cited species were Taraxacum mongolicum,Bidens pilosa,Sonchus oleraceus,Pilea verrucosa,and Pilea pumila var.obtusifolia.A total of 14 species were identified as the top forage plants in Zhuxi County based on their RFC values(RFC value greater than 0.5).Local people possess rich traditional knowledge about the utilization and management of forage plants for pig feeding.However,the maintenance of this traditional knowledge may be seriously threatened by changes in pig feeding modes and the lack of successors.Appropriate strategies and action plans have been suggested for the conservation of traditional knowledge associated with biodiversity and the sustainable use of forage species resources.These include 1)taking targeted measures to protect forage resources and associated traditional knowledge;2)strengthening research on the forage plants with the highest RFC values for nutritional value,digestibility,other functions,and ecological status;and 3)enhancing the identification of poisonous forage plants.Jun Yang Jifeng Luo Qiliang Gan Leiyu Ke Fengming Zhang Hairu Guo Fuwei Zhao Yuehu Wang 2021Plant Diversity2021,43,3:3

6Quantitative evaluation of lateral sealing of extensional fault by an integral mathematical-geological model显示文摘To evaluate the lateral sealing mechanism of extensional fault based on the pressure difference between fault and reservoir, an integral mathematical-geological model of diagenetic time on diagenetic pressure considering the influence of diagenetic time on the diagenetic pressure and diagenetic degree of fault rock has been established to quantitatively calculate the lateral sealing ability of extensional fault. By calculating the time integral of the vertical stress and horizontal in-situ stress on the fault rock and surrounding rock, the burial depth of the surrounding rock with the same clay content and diagenesis degree as the target fault rock was worked out. In combination with the statistical correlation of clay content, burial depth and displacement pressure of rock in the study area, the displacement pressure of target fault rock was calculated quantitatively. The calculated displacement pressure was compared with that of the target reservoir to quantitatively evaluate lateral sealing state and ability of the extensional fault. The method presented in this work was used to evaluate the sealing of F_(1), F_(2) and F_(3) faults in No.1 structure of Nanpu Sag, and the results were compared with those from fault-reservoir displacement pressure differential methods without considering the diagenetic time and simple considering the diagenetic time. 7Pre-operative nasal probe tests with adrenaline and lidocaine ease insertion during flexible bronchoscopy and reduce post-operative bleeding:a randomized controlled trial显示文摘Background:Nasal insertion is the preferred method for non-intubated patients in flexible bronchoscopy;however,the relatively narrow nasal cavity results in difficulties related to bronchoscope insertion.This study aimed to investigate whether pre-operative nasal probe tests could reduce the time to pass the glottis,improve the first-pass success rate and patients’tolerance,and reduce postoperative bleeding.Methods:This three-arm prospective randomized controlled trial was conducted in a tertiary hospital between May and October 2020.Three hundred patients requiring diagnosis and treatment using flexible bronchoscopy were randomly allocated to three groups:control group,simple cotton bud detection group(CD group),and adrenaline+lidocaine detection group(AD group).The primary outcome was the time to pass the glottis.Secondary outcomes included the first-pass success rate,the patients’tolerance scores,and post-operative bleeding.One-way analysis of variance,Kruskal-WallisH test,Chi-squared test,Fisher’s exact test,and Bonferroni’s multiple comparison tests were used in this study.Results:In total,189 men and 111 women were enrolled in this study,with a mean age of 55.72±12.86 years.The insertion time was significantly shorter in the AD group than in the control group(18.00 s[12.00–26.50 s]vs.24.00 s[14.50–45.50 s],P=0.005).Both the AD(99%vs.83%,χ2=15.62,P<0.001)and CD groups(94%vs.83%,χ2=5.94,P=0.015)had a significantly higher first-pass success rate than the control group.Compared with the control group,post-operative bleeding(1%vs.13%,χ2=11.06,P<0.001)was significantly lower in the AD group.However,no significant difference was found in the patients’tolerance scores.Conclusions:Pre-operative nasal cavity probe tests especially with adrenaline and lidocaine during flexible bronchoscopy can significantly reduce the time to pass the glottis,improve the first-pass success rate,and reduce post-operative nasal bleeding.Pre-operative nasal probe tests are recommended as a time-saving procedure for patients undergoing flexible bronchoscopy.Trial registration:Chinese Clinical Trial Registry(ChiCTR),ChiCTR2000032668;http://gffzz62a03ee25e6f4a77hu59fb9xxucx56xfu.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/showprojen.aspx?proj=53321.Wenjun Zhu Yuchen Zhang Jingyu Shi Xiaoqin Wang Renjiao Li Jia Liu Ping Li Dan Liu Fengming Luo 2022Chinese Medical Journal2022,,15:0
8Investigating the cellular functions of β-Glucosidases for synthesis of lignocellulose-degrading enzymes in Trichoderma reesei显示文摘β-glucosidases play an important role in the synthesis of cellulase in fungi,but their molecular functions and mechanisms remain unknown.We found that the 10 putativeβ-glucosidases investigated in Trichoderma ree-sei facilitate cellulase production,with cel3j being the most crucial.Transcriptional analysis revealed that the most affected biological processes in△cel3j strain were cellulase synthesis,ribosome biogenesis,and RNA poly-merases.Moreover,CEL3J was unconventionally transported through the endoplasmic reticulum,bypassing the Golgi apparatus,whereas cel3j overexpression altered cellulase secretion from conventional to unconventional,likely owing to the activated unconventional protein secretion pathway(UPS),as indicated by the upregulation of genes related to UPS.The mTORC1-GRASP55 signaling axis may modulate the unconventional secretion of CEL3J and cellulase.The transcriptional levels of genes associated with DNA replication,the cell cycle,and meiosis were noticeably affected by overexpressing cel3j.These data give new clues for exploring the roles ofβ-glucosidases and the molecular mechanisms of their unconventional secretion in fungi.Ai-Ping Pang Haiyan Wang Yongsheng Luo Funing Zhang Fu-Gen Wu Zhihua Zhou Zuhong Lu Fengming Lin 2023Engineering Microbiology2023,3,4:0

10Transcriptional factor RUNX1:A potential therapeutic target for fibrotic pulmonary disease显示文摘Runt-related transcription factor-1(RUNX1),also known as the core-binding factor alpha 2 subunit,is closely related to human leukemia.The functions of RUNX1 in modulating cell proliferation,differentiation,and survival in multiple systems have been gradually discovered with the emergence of transgenic mice.RUNX1 is a powerful transcription factor implicated in diverse signaling pathways and cellular mechanisms that participate in lung development and pulmonary diseases.RUNX1 has recently been identified as a target regulator of fibrotic remodeling diseases,particularly in the kidney.However,the role of RUNX1 in pulmonary fibrosis is unclear.Pulmonary fibrosis is characterized by obscure nosogenesis,limited therapy,and poor prognosis.Moreover,the population of patients with pulmonary fibrosis is gradually increasing.Thus,there is an unmet need for therapeutic targets.In this review,we retrospectively discuss the alteration in RUNX1 mRNA expression in the RNA sequencing data of human fibrotic lungs and the protein levels in mouse pulmonary fibrosis.Subsequently,we focused on the interaction between RUNX1 and several signaling pathways involved in pulmonary fibrosis.Finally,this review highlights the therapeutic potential of RUNX1 as a target for slowing the progression of fibrotic lung disease.JIA LIU FAPING WANG BO YUAN FENGMING LUO 2023BIOCELL2023,47,4:0
11Magnetized Micropillar-Enabled Wearable Sensors for Touchless and Intelligent Information Communication显示文摘The wearable sensors have recently attracted considerable attentions as communication interfaces through the information perception,decoding,and conveying process.However,it is still challenging to obtain a sensor that can convert detectable signals into multiple outputs for convenient,e cient,cryptic,and high-capacity information transmission.Herein,we present a capacitive sensor of magnetic field based on a tilted flexible micromagnet array(t-FMA)as the proposed interaction interface.With the bidirectional bending capability of t-FMA actuated by magnetic torque,the sensor can recognize both the magnitude and orientation of magnetic field in real time with non-overlapping capacitance signals.The optimized sensor exhibits the high sensitivity of over 1.3 T-1 and detection limit down to 1 mT with excellent durability.As a proof of concept,the sensor has been successfully demonstrated for convenient,e cient,and programmable interaction systems,e.g.,touchless Morse code and Braille communication.The distinguishable recognition of the magnetic field orientation and magnitude further enables the sensor unit as a high-capacity transmitter for cryptic information interaction(e.g.,encoded ID recognition)and multi-control instruction outputting.We believe that the proposed magnetic field sensor can open up a potential avenue for future applications including information communication,virtual reality device,and interactive robotics.Qian Zhou Bing Ji Fengming Hu Jianyi Luo Bingpu Zhou 2021Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,12:0

13Efficacy of early prone or lateral positioning in patients with severe COVID-19:a single-center prospective cohort显示文摘Background:Position intervention has been shown to improve oxygenation,but its role in non-invasively ventilated patients with severe COVID-19 has not been assessed.The objective of this study was to investigate the efficacy of early position intervention on non-invasively ventilated patients with severe COVID-19.Methods:This was a single-center,prospective observational study in consecutive patients with severe COVID-19 managed in a provisional ICU at Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University from 31 January to 15 February 2020.Patients with chest CT showing exudation or consolidation in bilateral peripheral and posterior parts of the lungs were included.Early position intervention(prone or lateral)was commenced for>4 hours daily for 10 days in these patients,while others received standard care.Results:The baseline parameters were comparable between the position intervention group(n=17)and the standard care group(n=35).Position intervention was well-tolerated and increased cumulative adjusted mean difference of SpO_(2)/FiO_(2)(409,95%CI 86 to 733)and ROX index(26,95%CI 9 to 43)with decreased Borg scale(−9,95%CI−15 to−3)during the first 7 days.It also facilitated absorption of lung lesions and reduced the proportion of patients with high National Early Warning Score 2(≥7)on days 7 and 14,with a trend toward faster clinical improvement.Virus shedding and length of hospital stay were comparable between the two groups.Conclusions:This study provides the first evidence for improved oxygenation and lung lesion absorption using early position intervention in non-invasively ventilated patients with severe COVID-19,and warrants further randomized trials.Zhong Ni Kaige Wang Ting Wang Yuenan Ni Wei Huang Ping Zhu Tao Fan Ye Wang Bo Wang Jun Deng Zhicheng Qian Jiasheng Liu Wenhao Cai Shanling Xu Yu Du Gang Wang Zongan Liang Weimin Li Jianfei Luo Fengming Luo Dan Liu 2020Precision Clinical Medicine2020,3,4:0

17Regulation of sucrose synthase activity and sugar yield by nitrogen in sugar beet显示文摘The content of sugar is influenced by sucrose synthase (SS) activity in roots. The effects of nitrogen level in the amino- nitrate ratio on SS activity of leaves and roots, roots yield and sugar content in sugar beet were studied in the field experiment by nutrient solution culture. The results showed that SS activity in leaves was lower than that in roots. With nitrogen level increasing, SS decomposition activity enhanced, and synthesis activity reduced. SS activity was regulated by different nitrogen forms and the ratio of NO3– and NH4+. SS synthesis activity was enhanced as NH4+ increasing when NO3–: NH4+≥1, and it decreased as increasing NH4+ when NO3–: NH4+≤1, and it was the highest when NO3–: NH4+=1. SS decomposition activity was enhanced as NO3– increasing. Sucrose content in root was lowed as nitrogen level increasing, but it was enhanced as NH4+ increasing in the same nitrogen level. Root and sugar yield were the highest in the medium nitrogen level and NO3–: NH4+=1. The result in field experiment corresponded with that in the nutrient fluid culture.
