| 1 | Effect of copper nanoparticles exposure in the physiology of the common carp(Cyprinus carpio):Biochemical,histological and proteomic approaches显示文摘Copper nanoparticles(Cu-NPs)are serious water pollutants but their impact in teleosts performance remains poorly understood.In the present study,we have exposed juvenile carps(Cyprinus carpio),a freshwater teleost edible in India to two different doses(20 and 100 mg/L)of Cu-NPs for seven days.The doses selected were eco-relevant considering the contamination levels of certain water resources.The results indicated that the activity oxidative stress enzymes catalase,superoxide dismutase,and glutathione-S-transferase were significantly increased in the kidney,liver and gills of the treated groups when compared to control.Histological analysis revealed that after exposure,disruption of the secondary lamellae of gills,liver damage with pyknotic nuclei and structural disarray of the kidney occurred.Proteomic analysis of the liver showed down-regulation of several proteins including the ferritin heavy chain,rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor 17-like,cytoglobin-1 and up-regulation of diphosphomevalonate decarboxylase and selenide&water dikinase-1.Taken together,the results of suggest that short-term exposure of juvenile carp to Cu-NPs causes oxidative stress and impart serious deleterious effects in the tissues which may affect fish growth and development. | Yugantak Raj Gupta Durai Sellegounder Monica Kannan Seetharam Deepa Balasubramanian Senthilkumaran Yaraguntappa Basavaraju | 2016 | Aquaculture and Fisheries2016,1,1: | 2 |

| 5 | Clinical outcomes for nasopharyngeal cancer with intracranial extension after taxanebased induction chemotherapy and concurrent chemo-radiotherapy in the modern era显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the survival outcomes for a cohort of nasopharyngeal cancer with intracranial extension(ICE)treated with induction chemotherapy(ICT)followed by chemo-intensity-modulated radiotherapy(CTRT)at a tertiary cancer center.Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 45 patients with histologically proven,non-metastatic NPC with ICE treated at our institute between October 2008 and October 2016.Patients were classified as minor ICE or major ICE,based on the extent of ICE.All the patients received 2-3 cycles of a taxane-based ICT regimen followed by CTRT.Radiotherapy was delivered with'riskadapted'intensity-modulated radiotherapy(IMRT)technique in all patients.Results:After a median follow up of 45 months(range:8-113 months),the estimated 5-year DFS,LRFS,DMFS,and OS of the entire cohort was 58%,82%,67%and 74%respectively.On multivariate analysis,histological subtype was an independent predictor of LRFS,and age was an independent predictor of DFS.The extent of ICE showed only a trend towards worse DFS(P=0.06).None of the factors significantly predicted for DMFS or OS.Gender,N-stage,and response to ICT did not significantly affect any of the outcomes.Grade 2 or worse subcutaneous fibrosis was seen in 22%of patients and grade 2 or worse xerostomia was seen in 24%of patients at last follow up.Thirty-three percent of the patients developed clinical hypothyroidism at last follow up.None of the patients experienced any neurological or vascular complications.Conclusions:Taxane-based induction chemotherapy followed by chemo-intensity modulated radiotherapy resulted in excellent locoregional control and survival with acceptable toxicities in patients of nasopharyngeal cancer with intracranial extension.Distant metastasis continues to be the predominant problem in these patients. | Sarbani Ghosh-Laskar Avinash Pilar Carlton Johnny Kumar Prabhash Amit Joshi Jai Prakash Agarwal Tejpal Gupta Ashwini Budrukkar Vedang Murthy Monali Swain Vanita Noronha Vijay Maruthi Patil Prathamesh Pai Deepa Nair Devendra Arvind Chaukar Shivakumar Thiagarajan Gouri Pantvaidya Anuja Deshmukh Pankaj Chaturvedi Sudhir Nair Anil D’Cruz | 2020 | World Journal of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery2020,6,1: | 1 |

| 9 | Prevalence and risk factors associated with Japanese encephalitis virus infection in swine population of Assam,India显示文摘Objective:To assess the prevalence of Japanese encephalitis virus(JEV)and associated risk factors in the swine population of Assam.Methods:A total of 432 swine serum and blood samples were collected from Barpeta and Sonitpur districts of Assam and were screened for the presence of JEV antibodies.Information related to risk factors was collected using a self-designed questionnaire from 120 swine-rearing farmers.Linear-mixed models were used for prevalence estimation.Univariate and multivariate regression models were constructed to evaluate the association of demography,season and management practices with JEV positive status.Results:Overall,the JEV infection prevalence was 51.6%at farm and 47.1%at slaughter premises.Phylogenetic analysis of partial sequence of envelope gene of two positive field samples revealed that both isolates belonged to genotypeⅢJEV.Isolate 1 shared a common clade with human isolates while isolate 2 belonged to the same clade as that of other JEV swine strain isolated from India.The final multivariate model showed that two factors including monsoon season(Adjusted OR 5.6;95%CI 2.1-14.9;P<0.001)and water logging in the area near the pig shelter(Adjusted OR 16.9;95%CI 6.1-47.3;P<0.001)were associated with greater odds of swine being infected with JEV.Conclusions:High prevalence of JEV in swine population of Assam state indicates a significant risk of virus transmission to humans while risk factor study underlines the urgent need for awareness campaigns in the Assam. | Mir Hussain Himani Dhanze Deepa Mehta M.Suman Kumar Ravi Kumar Gandham Megha Gupta AG Barua K.P Suresh Balbir B Singh | 2022 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2022,15,11: | 0 |
| 10 | Mental Illness Disorder Diagnosis Using Emotion Variation Detection from Continuous English Speech显示文摘Automatic recognition of human emotions in a continuous dialog model remains challenging where a speaker’s utterance includes several sentences that may not always carry a single emotion.Limited work with standalone speech emotion recognition(SER)systems proposed for continuous speech only has been reported.In the recent decade,various effective SER systems have been proposed for discrete speech,i.e.,short speech phrases.It would be more helpful if these systems could also recognize emotions from continuous speech.However,if these systems are applied directly to test emotions from continuous speech,emotion recognition performance would not be similar to that achieved for discrete speech due to the mismatch between training data(from training speech)and testing data(from continuous speech).The problem may possibly be resolved if an existing SER system for discrete speech is enhanced.Thus,in this work the author’s existing effective SER system for multilingual and mixed-lingual discrete speech is enhanced by enriching the cepstral speech feature set with bi-spectral speech features and a unique functional set of Mel frequency cepstral coefficient features derived from a sine filter bank.Data augmentation is applied to combat skewness of the SER system toward certain emotions.Classification using random forest is performed.This enhanced SER system is used to predict emotions from continuous speech with a uniform segmentation method.Due to data scarcity,several audio samples of discrete speech from the SAVEE database that has recordings in a universal language,i.e.,English,are concatenated resulting in multi-emotional speech samples.Anger,fear,sad,and neutral emotions,which are vital during the initial investigation of mentally disordered individuals,are selected to build six categories of multi-emotional samples.Experimental results demonstrate the suitability of the proposed method for recognizing emotions from continuous speech as well as from discrete speech. | S.Lalitha Deepa Gupta Mohammed Zakariah Yousef Ajami Alotaibi | 2021 | Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,12: | 0 |
| 11 | Robust Magnification Independent Colon Biopsy Grading System over Multiple Data Sources显示文摘Automated grading of colon biopsy images across all magnifications is challenging because of tailored segmentation and dependent features on each magnification.This work presents a novel approach of robust magnification-independent colon cancer grading framework to distinguish colon biopsy images into four classes:normal,well,moderate,and poor.The contribution of this research is to develop a magnification invariant hybrid feature set comprising cartoon feature,Gabor wavelet,wavelet moments,HSV histogram,color auto-correlogram,color moments,and morphological features that can be used to characterize different grades.Besides,the classifier is modeled as a multiclass structure with six binary class Bayesian optimized random forest(BO-RF)classifiers.This study uses four datasets(two collected from Indian hospitals—Ishita Pathology Center(IPC)of 4X,10X,and 40X and Aster Medcity(AMC)of 10X,20X,and 40X—two benchmark datasets—gland segmentation(GlaS)of 20X and IMEDIATREAT of 10X)comprising multiple microscope magnifications.Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the other methods used for colon cancer grading in terms of accuracy(97.25%-IPC,94.40%-AMC,97.58%-GlaS,99.16%-Imediatreat),sensitivity(0.9725-IPC,0.9440-AMC,0.9807-GlaS,0.9923-Imediatreat),specificity(0.9908-IPC,0.9813-AMC,0.9907-GlaS,0.9971-Imediatreat)and F-score(0.9725-IPC,0.9441-AMC,0.9780-GlaS,0.9923-Imediatreat).The generalizability of the model to any magnified input image is validated by training in one dataset and testing in another dataset,highlighting strong concordance in multiclass classification and evidencing its effective use in the first level of automatic biopsy grading and second opinion. | Tina Babu Deepa Gupta Tripty Singh Shahin Hameed Mohammed Zakariah Yousef Ajami Alotaibi | 2021 | Computers, Materials & Continua2021,,10: | 0 |
