3In-silico and in-vitro evaluation of docetaxel and berberine as potential p53 modulating apoptotic inducers in oral squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘Objective:To investigate the interaction of p53 with docetaxel and berberine and their anticancer activities against oral squamous cell carcinoma. Methods:The interaction between p53 with docetaxel and berberine was investigated and their mechanisms of action against oral squamous cell carcinoma were studied.Toxicity studies were performed to determine any toxic impact of the drugs on the vital organs of tested animals. Results:In silico results revealed the molecular interaction of docetaxel and berberine with p53 and the molecules were found to be potential p53 inducers.Docetaxel and berberine inhibited the proliferation of cancer cells in a concentration-dependent manner.Flow cytometry analysis revealed that docetaxel and berberine at IC50 concentrations upregulated the expression of p53 in oral squamous cell carcinoma cells, thus triggering apoptotic cell death. In addition,no toxicity was observed in the liver and kidney tissues of mice after docetaxel and berberine treatment. Conclusions:Docetaxel and berberine significantly suppressed the proliferation of oral cancer cells by activating p53 expression and causing apoptotic cell death. Both compounds can be potential agents for the treatment of oral cancer, with little to no toxicity at the tissue level.Smrutipragnya Samal Rajesh Kumar Meher Debasmita Dubey Showkat Ahmad Mir Binata Nayak Mahesh Chandra Sahu Pradeep Kumar Naik Goutam Rath Santosh Kumar Swain 2022Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2022,12,12:1

9A report on infection dynamics of inducible clindamycin resistance of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from a teaching hospital in India显示文摘Objective:To investigate the infection of hospital-and community-acquired'erythromycininduced clindamycin resistant'strains or D-test positives of clinical isolates of Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus)(with and without methicillin resistance)in a hospital. Methods:Strains of S.aureus isolated from clinical specimens were subjected to D-test and antibiotic profiling. Results:Of the total 278 isolates,140(50.35%)were D-test positives and the rest were D-test negatives.Further,of 140(100%)pesitives,87(62.14%)and 53(37.85%)strains were from males and females, respectively.Of 140(100%)pesitives,117(83.57%)were methicillin resistant S.aureus and23(16.42%)were methicillin sensitive S.aureus;of 140 strains,103(73.57%)strains front persons with and 37(26.42%)were without related infections;of 140 strains,91(65%)and 49(35%)were from hospital-and community-acquired samples, respectively. In 140 strains,118(84.28%)with comorbidities and 22(15.71%)without comorbidities cases were recorded;similarly, persons with prior antibiotic uses contributed 108(77.14%)and without 32(22.85%)positive strains. These binary data of surveillance were analyzed by a univariate analysis. It was evident that the prior antibiotic uses and comorbidities due to other ailments were the determinative factors in D-test positivity, corroborated by low P values,P=0.001 1 and 0.0024,respectively.All isolates(278)were resistant to17 antibiotics of nine groups,in varying degrees;the minimum of 28%resistance for vancomycin and the maximum of 97%resistance for gentamicin were recorded.Further,of 278 strains,only42(15.1%)strains were resistant constitutively to both antibiotics, erythromycin resistant and clindamycin resistant, while 45(16.2%)strains were constitutively sensitive to both antibiotics(erythromycin sensitive, and clindamycin sensitive).Further,of the rest 191(68.7%)strains were with erythromycin resistant and clindamycin resistant,of which only 140(50.35%)strains were D-test positives, while the rest 51(18.34%)strains were D-test negatives. Conclusions:In view of high prevalence of D-test positive S.aureus strains, and equally high prevalence of multidrug resistant strains both in community and hospital sectors, undertaking of D-test may be routinely conducted for suppurative infections.Debasmita Dubey Shakti Rath Mahesh C.Sahu Subhrajita Rout Nagen K.Debata Rabindra N.Padhy 2013Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2013,3,2:1

13Thin-shell gravastar model in f(Q,T)gravity显示文摘In the last few decades, gravastars have been proposed as an alternative to black holes. The stability of a gravastar has been examined in many modified theories of gravity along with Einstein's GR.The f(Q,T)gravity,a successfully modified theory of gravity for describing the current accelerated expansion of the universe, has been used in this study to examine gravastar in different aspects.According to Mazur and Mottola[Proc.Natl.Acad.Sci.101,9545(2004);Gravitational condensate stars:An alternative to black holes,I12-011,(2002)],a gravastar has three regions with three different equations of state. In this study,we examined the interior of a gravastar by consid-ering p=-ρ EoS to describe the dark sector for the interior region. The next region is a thin shell of ultrarelativistic stiff fluid,in which we investigated several physical properties, including proper length, energy, entropy, and surface energy density.Additionally,we examined the surface redshift and speed of sound to check the potential stability of our proposed thin-shell gravastar model.Furthermore,we used the entropy maximization technique to verify the stability of the gravastar model.A gravastar's outer region is a complete vacuum described by exterior Schwarzschild geometry. Finally,we presented a stable gravastar model, which is singularity-free and devoid of any incom-pleteness in classical black hole theory.Sneha Pradhan Debasmita Mohanty P.K.Sahoo 2023Chinese Physics C2023,47,9:0
14Dynamical behavior of a mathematical model of early atherosclerosis显示文摘Atherosclerosis,a continual inflammatory disease occurring due to plaque cumulation in the arterial intima,is one of the main reasons behind deaths from diverse cardiovascular diseases. The basic interactions between oxidized low density lipoprotein(LDL)and macrophages in the formation of atherosclerotic plaque are modeled here in terms of a reaction-diffusion system in one-dimensional(1D)space under Neumann boundary conditions. Two simple mathematical models are considered which differ by the influx term only in the case of the interaction of oxidized LDL.Both the spatial and nonspatial systems are simply analyzed theoretically and numerically.Numerical bifurcation analysis confirms the existence of Hopf bifurcation concerning four significant model parameters.Examining the gravity of the model offered in this investigation,an obvious insight into this inflammatory response can be achieved both qualitatively and quantitatively.Debasmita Mukherjee Lakshmi Narayan Guin Santabrata Chakravarty 2020International Journal of Modeling, Simulation, and Scientific Computing2020,11,1:0
15Light gradient boosting machine with optimized hyperparameters for identification of malicious access in IoT network显示文摘In this paper,an advanced and optimized Light Gradient Boosting Machine(LGBM)technique is proposed to identify the intrusive activities in the Internet of Things(IoT)network. The followings are the major contributions:i)An optimized LGBM model has been developed for the identification of malicious IoT activities in the IoT network;ii)An efficient evolutionary optimization approach has been adopted for finding the optimal set of hyper-parameters of LGBM for the projected problem. Here,a Genetic Algorithm(GA)with k-way tournament selection and uniform crossover operation is used for efficient exploration of hyper-parameter search space;iii)Finally, the performance of the proposed model is evaluated using state-of-the-art ensemble learning and machine learning-based model to achieve overall generalized performance and efficiency.Simulation outcomes reveal that the proposed approach is superior to other considered methods and proves to be a robust approach to intrusion detection in an IoT environment.Debasmita Mishra Bighnaraj Naik Janmenjoy Nayak Alireza Souri Pandit Byomakesha Dash S.Vimal 2023Digital Communications and Networks2023,9,1:0
16Risk and predictors of severity and mortality in patients with type 2 diabetes and COVID-19 in Dubai显示文摘BACKGROUND Globally, patients with diabetes suffer from increased disease severity and mortality due to coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).Old age, high body mass index(BMI),comorbidities, and complications of diabetes are recognized as major risk factors for infection severity and mortality.AIM To investigate the risk and predictors of higher severity and mortality among inhospital patients with COVID-19 and type 2 diabetes(T2D)during the first wave of the pandemic in Dubai(March–September 2020).METHODS In this cross-sectional nested case-control study,a total of 1083 patients with COVID-19 were recruited. This study included 890 men and 193 women.Of these,427 had T2D and 656 were non-diabetic.The clinical, radiographic, and laboratory data of the patients with and without T2D were compared.Independent predictors of mortality in COVID-19 non-survivors were identified in patients with and without T2D.RESULTS T2D patients with COVID-19 were older and had higher BMI than those without T2D.They had higher rates of comorbidities such as hypertension, ischemic heart disease, heart failure, and more life-threatening complications. All laboratory parameters of disease severity were significantly higher than in those without T2D.Therefore,these patients had a longer hospital stay and a significantly higher mortality rate. They died from COVID-19 at a rate three times higher than patients without. Most laboratory and radiographic severity indices in non-survivors were high in patients with and without T2D.In the univariate analysis of the predictors of mortality among all COVID-19 non-survivors,significant associations were identified with old age, increased white blood cell count, lymphopenia, and elevated serum troponin levels. In multivariate analysis, only lymphopenia was identified as an independent predictor of mortality among T2D non-survivors.CONCLUSION Patients with COVID-19 and T2D were older with higher BMI,more comorbidities, higher disease severity indices, more severe proinflammatory state with cardiac involvement, and died from COVID-19 at three times the rate of patients without T2D.The identified mortality predictors will help healthcare workers prioritize the management of patients with COVID-19.Fatheya Alawadi Alaaeldin Bashier Azza Abdulaziz Bin Hussain Nada Al-Hashmi Fawzi Al Tayb Bachet Mohamed Mahmoud Aly Hassanein Marwan Abdelrahim Zidan Rania Soued Amar Hassan Khamis Debasmita Mukhopadhyay Fatima Abdul Aya Osama Fatima Sulaiman Muhammad Hamed Farooqi Riad Abdel Latif Bayoumi 2023World Journal of Diabetes2023,14,8:0
