Surveillance of multidrug resistant uropathogenic bacteria in hospitalized patients in Indian显示文摘Objective:To record surveillance, antibiotic resistance of uropathogens of hospitalized patients over a period of 18 months. Methods:Urine samples from wards and cabins were used for isolating urinary tract infection(UTI)-causing bacteria that were cultured on suitable selective media and identified by biochemical tests;and their antibiograms were ascertained by Kirby-Bauer's disc diffusion method,in each 6-month interval of the study period, using 18 antibiotics of five different classes. Results:From wards and cabins,1 245 samples were collected, from which 996 strains of bacteria belonging to 11 species were isolated, during April 2011 to September2012.Two Gram-positive,Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus)and Enterococcus faecalis(E.faecalis),and nine Gram-negative bacteria,Acinetobacter baumannii,Citrobactcr sp.,Escherichia coli,Enterobacter aerogenes,Klebsiella pneumoniae.Klebsiella oxytoca,Proteus mirabilis,Proteus vulgaris and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were isolated. Both S.aureus and E.faecalis were vancomycin resistant, and resistant-strains of all pathogens increased in each 6-month period of study.Particularly, all Gram-negatives were resistant to nitrofurantoin and co-trimoxazole,the most preferred antibiotics of empiric therapy for UTI.Conclusions:Antibiograms of 11 UTI-causing bacteria recorded in this study indicated moderately higher numbers of strains resistant to each antibiotic studied, generating the fear of precipitating fervent episodes in public health particularly with bacteria,Acinetobacter baumannii,Escherichia coli,Klebsiella pneumoniae and S.aureus.Moreover,vancomycin resistance in strains of S.aureus and E.faecalis is a matter of concern. | Monali Priyadarsini Mishra Nagen Kumar Debata Rabindra Nath Padhy | 2013 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2013,3,4: | 6
A novel use of TiO_2 fiber for photocatalytic ozonation of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid in aqueous solution显示文摘More efficient oxidation methods are needed to degrade especially newly emerging recalcitrant organic contaminants at low concentrations in the water environment. Reduced photonic efficiency of immobilized TiO2 is a major challenge in TiO2-assisted advanced oxidation processes (AOP). Mineralization of 2,4-dichllorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) in low aqueous solution by O3/UV/TiO2 using the world's first high-strength TiO2 fiber was investigated and compared with O3, UV/TiO2, and O3/TiO2 in laboratory batch experiments. The 2,4-D degradation and total organic carbon (TOC) removal followed pseudo first-order reaction kinetic, while their rates in O3/UV/TiO2 were respectively about 1.5 and 2.4 times larger than the summation of the values in O3 and UV/TiO2. The O3/UV/TiO2 was characterized by few aromatics with very low abundance, fast disappearance of aliphatics and more than 95% dechlorination. The discrepancies in organic carbon mass balance among the intermediates and 2,4-D were attributed mainly to few apparently major unidentified intermediates. The significantly enhanced 2,4-D mineralization in O3/UV/TiO2 was attributed to increased ozone dissolution followed by its decomposition, and reduced electron-hole recombination in presence of dissolved ozone resulting in a large number of hydroxyl radical (·OH) generation from more than one parallel path. The removal efficiencies of the systems can further be enhanced by optimizing design parameters, and O3/UV/TiO2 with the TiO2 fiber is promising to mineralize recalcitrant organic contaminants in water at low concentrations. | GIRI Rabindra Raj OZAKI Hiroaki TAKANAMI Ryohei TANIGUCHI Shogo | 2008 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2008,20,9: | 5
Probit Analysis of Carbamate-Pesticide-Toxicity at Soil-Water Interface to N_2-Fixing Cyanobacterium Cylindrospermum sp.显示文摘Toxicity-data of two carbamate insecticides, carbaryl and carbofuran, and three fungicides, ziram, zineb and mancozeb with rice-field N2-fixing cyanobacterium Cylindrospermum sp.,obtained by in vitro growth and at soil-water interface, were analyzed by the probit method. Growth enhancing concentration,no-observed effective concentration, minimum inhibitory concentration, the highest permissive concentration and lethal concentration100(LC100) were determined experimentally. The LC50 values of carbaryl, carbofuran, ziram, zineb and mancozeb in N2-fixing liquid medium were 56.2,588.8,0.07,4.2 and 3.4 μg/m L,respectively, whereas the corresponding LC100 values were 100.0,1500.0,0.17,25.0 and 9.0 μg/m L,respectively. The LC50 values of these pesticides in succession in N2-fixing agar medium were 44.7,239.9,0.07,1.8 and 2.3 μg/m L,respectively, whereas the corresponding LC100 values were 100.0,600.0,0.17,10.0 and 7.0 μg/m L,respectively. Similar results with nitrate supplemented liquid and agar media indicated that nitrate supplementation had toxicity reducing effect. The LC50 and LC100 values of toxicity in the N2-fixing liquid medium at soil-water interface were 91.2 and 200.0 μg/m L for carbaryl,2 317 and 6 000 μg/m L for carbofuran,0.15 and 0.50 μg/m L for ziram,16.4 and 50.0 μg/m L for zineb, and 7.2 and 25.0 μg/m L for mancozeb, respectively. Each LC100 value at soilwater interface with a pesticide was significantly higher than its corresponding LC100 value at liquid/agar media. It can be concluded that, under the N2-fixing conditions, the cyanobacterium tolerated higher levels of each pesticide at soil-water interface. | Rabindra N.PADHY Shakti RATH | 2015 | Rice science2015,22,2: | 4
反相高效液相色谱法同时测定片剂中的加替沙星与盐酸氨溴索(英文)显示文摘A reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method was developed, validated, and used for the quantitative determination of gatifloxacin (GA) and ambroxol hydrochloride (AM), from its tablet dosage form. Chromatographic separation was performed on a HiQ Sil C18 column (250 mm×4.6 mm, 5 μm), with a mobile phase comprising of a mixture of 0.01 mol/L potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate buffer and acetonitrile (70∶30, v/v), and pH adjusted to 3 with orthophosphoric acid, at a flow rate of 1 mL/min, with detection at 247 nm. Separation was completed in less than 10 min. As per International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH) guidelines the method was validated for linearity, accuracy, precision, limit of quantitation, limit of detection, and robustness. Linearity of GA was found to be in the range of 10-60 μg/mL and that for AM was found to be 5-30 μg/mL. The correlation coefficients were 0.999 6 and 0.999 3 for GA and AM respectively. The results of the tablet analysis (n=5) were found to be 99.94% with ±0.25% standard deviation (SD) and 99.98% with±0.36% SD for GA and AM respectively. Percent recovery of GA was found to be 99.92%-100.02% and that of AM was 99.86%-100.16%. The assay experiment shows that the method is free from interference of excipients. This demonstrates that the developed HPLC method is simple, linear, precise, and accurate, and can be conveniently adopted for the routine quality control analysis of the tablet. | SHAHED Mirza NANDA Rabindra DEHGHAN Muhammad Hassan NASREEN Huda FEROZ Shaikh | 2008 | 色谱2008,26,3: | 3

Evaluation of the CROPGRO-Peanut model in simulating appropriate sowing date and phosphorus fertilizer application rate for peanut in a subtropical region of eastern India显示文摘Projected changes in weather parameters, mainly temperature and rainfall, have already started to show their effect on agricultural production. To cope with the changing scenarios, adoption of appropriate management strategies is of paramount importance. A study was undertaken to evaluate the most appropriate combination of sowing date and phosphorus fertilization level for peanut crops grown in sandy loam soil in a subhumid region of eastern India. Field experiments were conducted during the summer seasons of 2012 and 2013 on peanut crops at the farm of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. The DSSAT v4.5 CROPGRO-Peanut model was used to predict the phenology, growth, and yield of peanut crop under combinations of four sowing dates and four phosphorus fertilization levels. The model was calibrated with a 2012 dataset of growth, phenology, and yield parameters for estimating the genetic coefficients of cultivar TMV-2 and was validated with a 2013 dataset of the same parameters. Simulations of pod yield and other yield parameters using the calibrated model were found to be quite accurate. The model was able to reasonably simulate pod yield and final biomass with low normalized root mean square error (RMSE_n), low absolute root mean square error (RMSE_a) and high coefficient of determination (R^2> 0.7) over a wide range of sowing dates and different phosphorus fertilization levels sensitivity analysis indicated that sowing from the second week of January to the end of February with 30–50 kg P_2O_5 ha^(-1)would give the highest pod yield. | Debjani Halder Rabindra Kumar Panda Rajiv Kumar Srivastava Shyamal Kheroar | 2017 | The Crop Journal2017,5,4: | 1
Starchy and fibrous feedstuffs differ in their in vitro digestibility and fermentation characteristics and differently modulate gut microbiota of swine显示文摘Background:Alternative feedstuffs may contribute to reducing feed costs of pig production. But these feedstuffs are typically rich in fiber and resistant starch(RS).Dietary fibers and RS are fermented in the gastrointestinal tract(GIT)and modulate the microbial community.Certain microbes in the GIT can promote host health, depending on the type of fermentation substrates available. In this study, six alternative feedstuffs(three starchy:Okinawan sweet potato,OSP;yam, and taro, and three fibrous:wheat millrun,WMR;barley brewers grain,BBG;and macadamia nut cake,MNC)were evaluated for their in vitro digestibility and fermentation characteristics and their effects on pig’s hindgut microbial profile. After 2 steps of enzymatic digestion assay, residues were fermented using fresh pig feces as microbial inoculum, and gas production was recorded periodically for 72 h and modeled for fermentation kinetics. After fermentation, the residual liquid phase was analyzed for short-chain fatty acid(SCFA),and the solid phase was used to determine the nutrient’s digestibility and microbial community. Results:In vitro ileal digestibility of dry matter and gross energy was higher in starchy than fibrous feedstuffs.Total gas and SCFA production were significantly higher(P<0.001)in starchy feedstuffs than fibrous feedstuffs. Both acetate and propionate production was significantly higher(P<0.001)in all starchy feedstuffs than BBG and MNC;WMR was in between.Overall alpha diversity was not significantly different within and between starchy and fibrous feedstuffs.Beta diversity(measured using bray Curtis dissimilarity distance)of starchy feedstuffs was significantly different(P<0.005)than fibrous feedstuffs. Conclusion:Starchy feedstuffs acted as a substrate to similar types of microbes, whereas fibrous feedstuffs resulted in a more diverse microbial population.Such alternative feedstuffs may exert comparable beneficial effects, thus may be included in swine diets to improve gut health. | Utsav P.Tiwari Rabindra K.Mandal Kabi Raj Neupane Birendra Mishra Rajesh Jha | 2022 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,5: | 1
