1Matrix metalloproteinases contribute to kidney fibrosis in chronic kidney diseases显示文摘Matrix metalloproteinases(MMPs) are members of the neutral proteinase family. They were previously thought to be anti-fibrotic because of their ability to degrade and remodel of extracellular matrix. However, recent studies have shown that MMPs are implicated in initiation and progression of kidney fibrosis through tubular cell epithelial–mesenchymal transition(EMT) as well as activation of resident fibroblasts, endothelial-mesenchymal transition(Endo MT) and pericyte-myofibroblast transdifferentiation. Interstitial macrophage infiltration has also been shown to correlate with the severity of kidney fibrosis in various chronic kidney diseases. MMPs secreted by macrophages, especially MMP-9, hasbeen shown by us to be profibrotic by induction of tubular cells EMT. EMT is mainly induced by transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β). However, MMP-9 was found by us and others to be up-regulated by TGF-β1 in kidney tubular epithelial cells and secreted by activated macrophages, resulting in EMT and ultimately kidney fibrosis. Therefore, MMP-9 may serve as a potential therapeutic target to prevent kidney fibrosis in chronic kidney disease. 3Reversible 3D optical data storage and information encryption in photo-modulated transparent glass medium显示文摘Transparent glass has been identified as a vital medium for three-dimensional(3D)optical information storage and multi-level encryption.However,it has remained a challenge for directly writing 3D patterning inside a transparent glass using semiconductor blue laser instead of high-cost femtosecond laser.Here,we demonstrate that rare earth ions doped transparent glass can be used as 3D optical information storage and data encryption medium based on their reversible transmittance and photoluminescence manipulation.The color of tungsten phosphate glass doped with rare earth ions change reversibly from light yellow to blue upon alternating 473 nm laser illumination and temperature stimulation,resulting in the reversible luminescence modulation.The information data could be repeatedly written and erased in arbitrary 3D space of transparent glass,not only showing the ability of the excellent reproducibility and storage capacity,but also opening opportunities in information security.The present work expands the application fields of luminescent glass,and it is conducive to develop a novel 3D data storage and information encryption media.Zhen Hu Xiongjian Huang Zhengwen Yang Jianbei Qiu Zhiguo Song Junying Zhang Guoping Dong 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,8:6

7The mobilization of rat’s mesenchymal stem cells into peripheral blood by LiCL and its potency differentiation显示文摘Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotent cells, which can differentiate into different tissues. It is still controversial whether MSCs can be isolated from adult peripheral blood (PB) under normal conditions and whether they can be mobilized in a way similar to that of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). In this study, rat MSCs circulating in the PB under normal conditions can be isolated and cultured, and MSCs from PB and BM can be mobilized by LiCL. The mobilized MSCs can be induced to differentiate into neuron by such factors as β-mercaptoethanol and supernatants of nerve cell cultures. 9Fracture identification and evaluation using conventional logs in tight sandstones:A case study in the Ordos Basin,China显示文摘Fractures are of great significance to tight oil and gas development.Fracture identification using conventional well logs is a feasible way to locate the underground fractures in tight sandstones.However,there are three problems affecting its interpretation accuracy and practical application,namely weak well log responses of fractures,a lack of specific logs for fracture prediction,and relative change omission in log responses.To overcome these problems and improve fracture identification accuracy,a fracture indicating parameter(FIP)method composed of a comprehensive index method(CIM)and a comprehensive fractal method(CFM)is introduced.The CIM tries to handle the first problem by amplifying log responses of fractures.The CFM addresses the third one using fractal dimensions.The flexible weight parameters corresponding to logs in the CIM and CFM make the interpretation possible for wells lacking specific logs.The reconstructed logs in the CIM and CFM try to solve the second problem.It is noted that the FIP method can calculate the probability of fracture development at a certain depth,but cannot show the fracture development degree of a new well compared with other wells.In this study,a formation fracture intensity(FFI)method is also introduced to further evaluate fracture development combined with production data.To test the validity of the FIP and FFI methods,fracture identification experiments are implemented in a tight reservoir in the Ordos Basin.The results are consistent with the data of rock core observation and production,indicating the proposed methods are effective for fracture identification and evaluation.Shaoqun Dong Lianbo Zeng Wenya Lyu Dongling Xia Guoping Liu Yue Wu Xiangyi Du 2020Energy Geoscience2020,1,3:2

18Experimental realization of nonadiabatic geometric gates with a superconducting Xmon qubit显示文摘Geometric phases are only dependent on evolution paths but independent of evolution details so that they possess some intrinsic noise-resilience features. Based on different geometric phases, various quantum gates have been proposed, such as nonadiabatic geometric gates based on nonadiabatic Abelian geometric phases and nonadiabatic holonomic gates based on nonadiabatic nonAbelian geometric phases. Up to now, nonadiabatic holonomic one-qubit gates have been experimentally demonstrated with superconducting transmons, where the three lowest levels are all utilized in operation. However, the second excited state of transmons has a relatively short coherence time, which results in a decreased fidelity of quantum gates. Here, we experimentally realize Abelian-geometric-phase-based nonadiabatic geometric one-qubit gates with a superconducting Xmon qubit. The realization is performed on the two lowest levels of an Xmon qubit and thus avoids the influence from the short coherence time of the second excited state.
