| 1 | A review of rechargeable batteries for portable electronic devices显示文摘Portable electronic devices(PEDs)are promising information-exchange platforms for real-time responses.Their performance is becoming more and more sensitive to energy consumption.Rechargeable batteries are the primary energy source of PEDs and hold the key to guarantee their desired performance stability.With the remarkable progress in battery technologies,multifunctional PEDs have constantly been emerging to meet the requests of our daily life conveniently.The ongoing surge in demand for high-performance PEDs inspires the relentless pursuit of even more powerful rechargeable battery systems in turn.In this review,we present how battery technologies contribute to the fast rise of PEDs in the last decades.First,a comprehensive overview of historical advances in PEDs is outlined.Next,four types of representative rechargeable batteries and their impacts on the practical development of PEDs are described comprehensively.The development trends toward a new generation of batteries and the future research focuses are also presented. | Yeru Liang Chen-Zi Zhao Hong Yuan Yuan Chen Weicai Zhang Jia-Qi Huang Dingshan Yu Yingliang Liu Maria-Magdalena Titirici Yu-Lun Chueh Haijun Yu Qiang Zhang | 2019 | InfoMat2019，1，1： | 39 |
| 2 | Laparoscopic resection of gastric gastrointestinal stromal tumors presenting as left adrenal tumors显示文摘Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are rare gastrointestinal malignancies. They are rarely seen near the urinary tract. In a literature review, only one case of GIST presenting as a left adrenal tumor was reported. We report two documented cases of gastric GISTs mimicking left adrenal tumors which were successfully treated with pure laparoscopic adrenalectomy and wedge resection of the stomach by excising the tumor from the stomach with serial fi ring of endoscopic gastrointestinal staplers. The surgical margins were clear, and the patients recovered smoothly. No adjuvant therapy with imatinib was prescribed. During the surveillance for 9 mo and 44 mo respectively, no tumor recurrence and metastasis were documented. | 5 | Intra-articular transplantation of porcine adipose-derived stem cells for the treatment of canine osteoarthritis: A pilot study显示文摘AIM: To test whether intra-articular injection of porcine adipose-derived stem cells(ADSCs) can treat canine osteoarthritis(OA).METHODS: To enroll in this study dogs must have stifle joint OA that had lasted ≥ 3 mo and been treated with OA medication without significant improvement. Three dogs fulfilled these criteria and were thus subjects for ADSCs treatment. ADSCs were isolated from abdominal adipose tissue of a 2-mo-old female Yorkshire pig. Their stem cell marker expression was examined by immunofluorescence staining. For treatment, 5 million ADSCs were injected into the diseased joint of each dog. In the next 48 h, the patient was observed for signs of inflammatory and allergic reactions. Thepatient was then discharged to the owner and, at 2, 6, and 12 wk, followed up with orthopedic assessment, owner questionnaire, X-ray imaging, and force-plate gait analysis.RESULTS: Porcine ADSCs expressed mesenchymal stem cell markers CD90 and CD105. Injection of porcine ADSCs into canine stifle joints did not cause any inflammatory or allergic reactions. Orthopedic evaluation found improvements in two dogs, particularly at the longest time point. Owners' evaluation found increased capacity and decreased pain in all three dogs' activities such as walking and running. Radiographic evaluation did not find statistically significant differences before and after treatment. Force-plate analysis found significant improvements in all three dogs after treatment.CONCLUSION: Xenotransplantation of ADSCs for the treatment of OA is feasible. | 6 | Update on a tumor-associated NADH oxidase in gastric cancer cell growth显示文摘Gastric cancer is one of the most common human malignancies, and its prevalence has been shown to be well-correlated with cancer-related deaths worldwide. Regrettably, the poor prognosis of this disease is mainly due to its late diagnosis at advanced stages after the cancer has already metastasized. Recent research has emphasized the identification of cancer biomarkers in the hope of diagnosing cancer early and designing targeted therapies to reverse cancer progression. One member of a family of growth-related nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NADH or hydroquinone) oxidases is tumor-associated NADH oxidase(t NOX; ENOX2). Unlike its counterpart CNOX(ENOX1), identified in normal rat liver plasma membranes and shown to be stimulated by growth factors and hormones, t NOX activity purified from rat hepatoma cells is constitutively active. Its activity is detectable in the sera of cancer patients but not in those of healthy volunteers, suggesting its clinical relevance. Interestingly, t NOX expression was shown to be present in an array of cancer cell lines. More importantly, inhibition of t NOX was well correlated with reduced cancer cell growth and induction of apoptosis. RNA interference targeting t NOX expression in cancer cells effectively restored non-cancerous phenotypes, further supporting the vital role of t NOX in cancer cells.
