| 2 | Juvenile hominoid cranium from the terminal Miocene of Yunnan,China显示文摘Fossil apes are known from several late Miocene localities in Yunnan Province,southwestern China,principally from Shihuiba(Lufeng)and the Yuanmou Basin,and represent three species of Lufengpithecus.They mostly comprise large samples of isolated teeth,but there are also several partial or complete adult crania from Shihuiba and a single juvenile cranium from Yuanmou.Here we describe a new,relatively complete and largely undistorted juvenile cranium from the terminal Miocene locality of Shuitangba,also in Yunnan.It is only the second ape juvenile cranium recovered from the Miocene of Eurasia and it is provisionally assigned to the species present at Shihuiba,Lufengpithecus lufengensis.Lufengpithecus has most often been linked to the extant orangutan,Pongo pygmaeus,but recent studies of the crania from Shihuiba and Yuanmou have demonstrated that this is unlikely.The new cranium reinforces the view that Lufengpithecus represents a distinct,late surviving lineage of large apes in the late Miocene of East Asia that does not appear to be closely affiliated with any extant ape lineage.It substantially increases knowledge of cranial morphology in Lufengpithecus and demonstrates that species of this genus represent a morphologically diverse radiation of apes,which is consistent with the dynamic tectonic and biotic milieu of southwestern China in the late Miocene. | JI XuePing JABLONSKI Nina G SU Denise F DENG ChengLong FLYNN Lawrence J YOU YouShan KELLEY Jay | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,31: | 8 |
| 3 | The origin and distribution of natural gas in the frontal uplift area of the Kuqa depression,Tarim Basin显示文摘The frontal uplift of the Kuqa depression is an important oil and gas producing area. In this study, the distribution and origin of natural gas were discussed based on natural gas components and isotope data. The main components of natural gas were hydrocarbons with relatively high contents of C2+ component. Most gases were derived from terrestrial source rocks, and some came from marine rocks. The contents of non-hydrocarbon gases were high in the central part of the frontal uplift area and low in the two terminals. The distribution of oil composition was similar to that of natural gas, which was mainly controlled by the types of source rocks. Dry coefficient and maturity of natural gas in the frontal uplift were lower than those of gas in the Kelasu tectonic belt of the Kuqa depression, which was mainly affected by the difference of tectonic movements in both areas. In the frontal uplift, the traps were formed in the early stage and could capture the early formed oil and gas, and structural adjustment was slight in later stages, so the oil and gas could be effectively preserved. | 4 | Fossil leaves of Berhamniphyllum(Rhamnaceae) from Markam,Tibet and their biogeographic implications显示文摘A new occurrence of buckthorn fossil leaves is reported from the upper Eocene strata of Markam Basin,southeastern Tibet,China.The leaf margin is either entire or slightly sinuous.Secondary veins are regularly spaced,forming eucamptodromous venation.These secondaries exist as straight lines from midvein to near margin and then arch abruptly upward and enter into a margin vein.The tertiary veins are densely spaced and parallel,and are percurrent to secondary veins.This leaf architecture conforms with Berhamniphyllum Jones and Dilcher,an extinct fossil genus reported from America.Our fossils are characterized by their dense secondaries,with secondary veins on the upper half portion of the blade accounting for over 40%of all secondaries.A new species,Berhamniphyllum junrongiae Z.K.Zhou,T.X.Wang et J.Huang sp.nov.,is proposed.Further analysis shows that confident assignment among Rhamnidium,Berchemia,and Karwinskia cannot be made based on leaf characters alone.Berhamniphyllum might represent an extinct common ancestor of these genera.In this study,several fossil Berchemia from Yunnan and Shandong are emended and reassigned to Berhamniphyllum.A new complex,namely the Berchemia Complex,is proposed based on morphology,molecular evidence,and the fossil record.This complex contains the fossil leaves of Rhamnidium,Karwinskia,Berchemia,and Berhamniphyllum.The historical biogeography of the Berchemia Complex is also discussed in this paper.This complex might have originated in the late Cretaceous in Colombia,South America,and dispersed to North America via Central America during the Eocene.Subsequently,the complex moved from North America to East Asia via the Bering Land Bridge no later than the late Eocene.Besides,the complex migrated from North America to Europe via the North Atlantic Land Bridge and then migrated further to Africa.In East Asia,it first appeared in Markam on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau,and then dispersed to other regions of Asia. | Zhekun ZHOU Tengxiang WANG Jian HUANG Jia LIU Weiyudong DENG Shihu LI Chenglong DENG Tao SU | 2020 | Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,2: | 4 |

| 6 | Fossil seeds of Euryale(Nymphaeaceae) indicate a lake or swamp environment in the late Miocene Zhaotong Basin of southwestern China显示文摘Euryale(Nymphaeaceae) is a monotypic genus distributed in eastern Asia, but fossils in its native distribution are sparse as compared to Europe where the genus has disappeared. Here, we describe a new fossil species, Euryale yunnanensis sp. nov., from the late Miocene Zhaotong Basin in southwestern China on the basis of seed remains. Characteristics including an ellipsoidal to almost spherical shape,a smooth surface, a germination cap that covers the micropyle, the separation of the hilum and germination cap(micropyle), elliptic testa surface cells with undulate margins and thickened cell walls collectively indicate a close affinity with the genus Euryale in Nymphaeaceae. Comparisons ofseed morphology and anatomy demonstrate that the newly described fossil species differs from modern and other fossil species of Euryale and thus verify the assignment to a new fossil species. As the modern Euryale is an aquatic plant,preferably living in swamps and lakes with shallow and stable water, we hypothesize that a lake and/or swamp environment with shallow water was present near Shuitangba in the Zhaotong Basin, where the Shuitangba hominoid lived during the late Miocene. This inference is generally consistent with paleoenvironmental data extracted from avian, fish, frog, turtle and crocodile fossils, as well as from aquatic pollen. | 8 | Autophagosome activity in macrophage for atherosclerotic plaques in ApoE^-/-mice enhanced by Tiaozhi Tongmai Granules显示文摘Objective:Atherosclerosis is the fundamental pathophysiologic component of cardiovascular disease,and Tiaozhi Tongmai Granules show great efficiency in the treatment of the disease.However,the mechanism of Tiaozhi Tongmai Granules is still unclear.In this study,we have combined experiments with network pharmacology to explore the antiatherosclerosis mechanism of Tiaozhi Tongmai Granules.Method:120 male ApoE/mice were randomly divided into three groups:the model group,Chinese herb group and Atorvastatin group.The model group,Atorvastatin group and Chinese herb group were fed with a high-fat diet,a high-fat diet plus atorvastatin(5.1 mg/kg/d)and a high-fat diet plus Tiaozhi Tongmai Granules(16.5 g/kg/d)for 16 weeks,respectively.Atherogenesis was identified by H&E staining.The colocalization of neutral lipid stain BODIPY and microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3(LC3)and the colocalization of BODIPY and lysosomal-associated membrane protein 1(LAMP1)within ApoE/mice aortic plaques were tested using fluorescence confocal microscopy and the Pearson’s coefficients were calculated.To further explore the anti-atherosclerosis mechanism of Tiaozhi Tongmai Granules,the network pharmacology was used to construct the herb-compound-target network.Results:The size of the aortic lipid plaque in the Chinese herb group and Atorvastatin group were smaller compared with the model group on the 16th week.Compared with the model group on the 16th week,the BODIPY and LC3 colocalization rate,the BODIPY and LAMP1 colocalization rate of the Chinese herb group and Atorvastatin group all presented significant increase in the aortic plaque(P<.001),showing that Tiaozhi Tongmai Granules could enhance autophagosome activity in the macrophage.In the herb-compound-target network,17 active compounds and 27 targets were obtained through literature searching and using LHRI&DAVID Bioinformatics.It was found that 23 targets were correlated with the macrophage.Some of them participated in macrophage inflammatory response,and the other targets could promote/inhibit phagocytosis of the macrophage.It was hypothesized that the active compounds of Tiaozhi Tongmai Granules were acting on these targets and having y the biological effects.Conclusions:In the progression stage of atherosclerosis,Tiaozhi Tongmai Granules can still make the macrophage have higher autophagosome activity,and play a role of anti-atherogenesis. | Chenglong Zheng Qing Sun Lu Zhang Shuwen Guo Min Zheng Yan Tang Jiangong Wu Jiani Wu Wenchen Liu Zhaoduo Su Xi Chen | 2015 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2015,2,3: | 2 |

| 10 | Crustal deformation and dynamics of Early Cretaceous in the North China Craton显示文摘The Early Cretaceous represents a peak period of the North China Craton(NCC)destruction.A comprehensive analysis of crustal deformation during this period can reveal processes and dynamics of the destruction.The peak destruction of the NCC was associated with intense extension whose representative deformation products are metamorphic core complexes(MCCs),extensional domes and rifted basins.These MCCs occurred along both northern and southern margins of the NCC,and resulted from synchronous extension and magmatism,showing difference from the typical orogen-type MCCs in many aspects.The MCCs of the Early Cretaceous were replaced by extensional domes under relatively weak extension and uplift.In contrast to a major depression-type basin of the Early Cretaceous in the western NCC,rifted basins of the same age in the eastern NCC appeared as medium-to small-scale ones extensively.In the eastern NCC,the rifted basins north of the Bohai Bay are characterized by a feature similar to an active rift whereas those south of the Bohai present similarity to a passive rift.Various sorts of extensional structures developed during the peak destruction indicate a stable stress state of NE-SE extension over the entire central to eastern NCC,consistent with the plate margin-driven stress field.Spatial distribution of the extensional structures presents an 1800 km wide back-arc extension region in the central to eastern NCC,consistent with the Paleo-Pacific slab rollback model following flat subduction.Temporal-spatial variation of initial extension and volcanic activity during the peak period also supports the rollback model right after the flat oceanic slab.The crustal deformation evolution demonstrates that the peak destruction of the NCC took place after the B-episode compression of the Yanshan Movement of the earliest Early Cretaceous and terminated with onset of the C-episode compression of the earliest Late Cretaceous. | Guang ZHU Yuanchao LU Nan SU Xiaodong WU Hao YIN Shuai ZHANG Chenglong XIE Manlan NIU | 2021 | Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,9: | 1 |
| 11 | A low-energy ion spectrometer with half-space entrance for three-axis stabilized spacecraft显示文摘A low-energy ion spectrometer(LEIS) for use aboard three-axis stabilized spacecraft has been developed to measure ion energy per charge distribution in three-dimensional space with good energy-, angular-and temporal-resolutions. For the standard top-hat electrostatic analyzer used widely in space plasma detection, three-axis stabilized spacecraft makes it difficult to obtain complete coverage of all possible ion arrival directions. We have designed angular scanning deflectors supplementing to a cylindrically symmetric top-hat electrostatic analyzer to provide a half-space field of view as 360°×90°(–45°–+45°), and fabricated the LEIS flight model for detecting magnetospheric ions in geosynchronous orbit. The performance of this payload has been evaluated in detail by a series of simulation and environmental tests, and the payload has also been calibrated through laboratory experiments using a low-energy ion source. | 16 | Synthesis of N-doped carbon quantumn dots as lubricant additive to enhance the tribological behavioor f MoS_(2)nanofluid显示文摘In this study,a novel lubricant additive nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dot(N-CQD)nanoparticle was prepared by the solvothermal method.The synthesized spherical N-CQD nanoparticles in the diameter of about 10 nm had a graphene oxide(GO)-like structure with various oxygen(O)-and nitrogen(N)-containing functional groups.Then N-CQDs were added to MoS_(2)nanofluid,and the tribological properties for steel/steel friction pairs were evaluated using a pin-on-disk tribometer.Non-equilibrium molecular dynamics(NEMD)simulations for the friction system with MoS_(2)or MoS_(2)+N-CQD nanoparticles were also conducted.The results showed that friction processes with MoS_(2)+N-CQD nanofluids were under the mixed lubrication regime.And MoS_(2)nanofluid containing 0.4 wt%N-CQDs could achieve 30.4%and 31.0%reduction in the friction coefficient and wear rate,respectively,compared to those without N-CQDs.By analyzing the worn surface topography and chemical compositions,the excellent lubrication performance resulted from the formation of tribochemistry-induced tribofilm.The average thickness of tribofilm was about 13.9 nm,and it was composed of amorphous substances,ultrafine crystalline nanoparticles,and self-lubricating FeSO_(4)/Fe2(SO_(4))_(3).NEMD simulation results indicated the interaction between S atoms in MoS_(2)as well as these O-and N-containing functional groups in N-CQDs with steel surfaces enhanced the stability and strength of tribofilm.Thereby the metal surface was further protected from friction and wear. | Jiaqi HE Jianlin SUN Junho CHOI Chenglong WANG Daoxin SU | 2023 | Friction2023,11,3: | 0 |
| 17 | The Mars orbiter magnetometer of Tianwen-1:in-flight performance and first science results显示文摘The Mars Orbiter MAGnetometer(MOMAG)is a scientific instrument onboard the orbiter of China’s first mission for Mars—Tianwen-1.Since November 13,2021,it has been recording magnetic field data from the solar wind to the magnetic pile-up region surrounding Mars.Here we present its in-flight performance and first science results,based on its first one and one-half months’data.Comparing these early MOMAG observations to the magnetic field data in the solar wind from NASA’s Mars Atmosphere and Volatile EvolutioN(MAVEN)mission,we report that the MOMAG magnetic field data are at the same level in magnitude,and describe the same magnetic structures with similar variations in three components.We recognize 158 clear bow shock(BS)crossings in these MOMAG data;their locations match well statistically with the modeled average BS.We also identify and compare five pairs of datasets collected when Tianwen-1’s orbiter and the MAVEN probe made simultaneous BS crossings.These BS crossings confirm the global shape of modeled BS,as well as the south-north asymmetry of the Martian BS.Two cases presented in this paper suggest that the BS is probably more dynamic at flank than near the nose.So far,MOMAG performs well,and provides accurate magnetic field vectors.MOMAG is continuously scanning the magnetic field surrounding Mars.Data from MOMAG’s measurements complement data from MAVEN and will undoubt edly advance our understanding of the plasma environment of Mars. | YuMing Wang TieLong Zhang GuoQiang Wang SuDong Xiao ZhuXuan Zou Long Cheng ZongHao Pan Kai Liu XinJun Hao YiRen Li ManMing Chen ZhouBin Zhang Wei Yan ZhenPeng Su ZhiYong Wu ChengLong Shen YuTian Chi MengJiao Xu JingNan Guo Yang Du | 2023 | Earth and Planetary Physics2023,7,2: | 0 |

| 19 | High-speed electro-optic modulation in topological interface states of a one-dimensional lattice显示文摘lectro-optic modulators are key components in data communication,microwave photonics,and quantum photonics.Modulation bandwidth,energy efficiency,and device dimension are crucial metrics of modulators.Here,we provide an important direction for the miniaturization of electro-optic modulators by reporting on ultracompact topological modulators.A topological interface state in a one-dimensional lattice is implemented on a thin-film lithium-niobate integrated platform.Due to the strong optical confinement of the interface state and the peaking enhancement of the electro-optic response,a topological cavity with a size of 1.6×140μm^(2)enables a large modulation bandwidth of 104 GHz.The first topological modulator exhibits the most compact device size compared to reported LN modulators with bandwidths above 28 GHz,to the best of our knowledge.100 Gb/s non-return-to-zero and 100 Gb/s four-level pulse amplitude modulation signals are generated.The switching energy is 5.4 fJ/bit,owing to the small electro-optic mode volume and low capacitance.The topological modulator accelerates the response time of topological photonic devices from the microsecond order to the picosecond order and provides an essential foundation for the implementation of large-scale lithium-niobate photonic integrated circuits. | Yong Zhang Jian Shen Jingchi Li Hongwei Wang Chenglong Feng Lei Zhang Lu Sun Jian Xu Ming Liu Ying Wang Yonghui Tian Jianwen Dong Yikai Su | 2023 | Light(Science & Applications)2023,12,9: | 0 |
| 20 | Influence and characteristic of shading on photovoltaic performance of bifacial modules and method for estimating bifacial gain显示文摘Bifacial PV modules have unique advantages in low-carbon building applications such as BIPV systems but often suffer from the shading problem resulting from higher surrounding objects or building facades.Point-blank quantitative studies of PV performance of bifacial modules operating in actual environments as affected by shading on PV cells are lacking due to the difficulties of analysis caused by the existing multiple variable factors.By constructing an experimental comparison system on a flat roof of a building,we experimentally tested and analyzed the comparative variation characteristics of PV performance of bifacial and mono-facial modules under different shading area fractions.The results show that from the viewpoint of photoelectric efficiency,the PV performance of both bifacial and mono-facial PV modules clearly varied with the shading fraction of PV cell in some linear rules,though it is difficult to find regularity from the perspective of output power which was also affected by dynamic solar radiation intensity.An abnormal phenomenon emerged that the photoelectric efficiencies of the bifacial modules with small shading fraction were higher compared to the case without shading.Based on the findings of the experimental results,a regression approximation method based on shading test results(RAST Method)is further proposed to analyze and calculate the bifacial gain of bifacial modules.In the case of the existing roof installation,the mean bifacial gains of the two bifacial modules with different inclination angles were 8.86%and 11.30%,respectively. | Chenglong Luo Yuandan Wu Xiaoxiao Su Wu Zou Yanshun Yu Qingyang Jiang Lijie Xu | 2023 | Building Simulation2023,16,10: | 0 |
