1From concept to reality-A review to the primary test stand and its preliminary application in high energy density physics显示文摘Pulsed power technology, whereas the electrical energy stored in a relative long period is released in much shorter timescale,is an efficient method to create high energy density physics(HEDP)conditions in laboratory.Around the beginning of this century,China Academy of Engineering Physics(CAEP)began to build some experimental facilities for HEDP investigations, among which the Primary Test Stand(PTS),a multi-module pulsed power facility with a nominal current of 10 MA and a current rising time~90 ns,is an important achievement on the roadmap of the electro-magnetically driven inertial confinement fusion(ICF)researches.PTS is the first pulsed power facility beyond 10 TW in China. Therefore, all the technologies have to be demonstrated, and all the engineering issues have to be overcome. In this article, the research outline, key technologies and the preliminary HEDP experiments are reviewed.Prospects on HEDP research on PTS and pulsed power development for the next step are also discussed.Jianjun Deng Weiping Xie Shuping Feng Meng Wang Hongtao Li Shengyi Song Minghe Xia Ji Ce An He Qing Tian Yuanchao Gu Yongchao Guan Bin Wei Xianbin Huang Xiaodong Ren Jiakun Dan Jing Li Shaotong Zhou Hongchun Cai Siqun Zhang Kunlun Wang Qiang Xu Yujuan Wang Zhaohui Zhang Guilin Wang Shuai Guo Yi He Yiwei Zhou Zhanji Zhang Libing Yang Wenkang Zou 2016Matter and Radiation at Extremes2016,1,1:19
2The MOOC/SPOC Based'1+M+N'Multi-University Collaborative Teaching and Learning Mode:Practice and Experience显示文摘Since 2012, the MOOCs, the massive open online courses, have brought big influences on the higher education in the world. How to use MOOCs to help universities rather than bother them to improve their education level and quality becomes an important issue. In China, many universities have explored the new modes and approaches for MOOC/SPOC-based teaching and learning. Especially, the China MOOC Association on Computing Education(CMOOC association), established in 2014, has done a set of successful practice and achieved fruitful experiences on MOOC courses development and computer education reform. Based on the practical experiences, a MOOC/SPOC based '1+M+N' multi-university collaborative teaching and learning mode is presented, which is adapted to the real situation of Chinese university education. In the paper, the practices and experiences of CMOOC association are introduced, the MOOC/SPOC based '1+M+N' multi-university collaborative teaching and learning mode and its approaches are described. Finally, the suggestions for MOOCs development and applications are also presented.Xiaofei Xu Dechen Zhan Ce Zhang Dianhui Chu Weihua Guo 2018计算机教育2018,,12:11
3Morphology and contact mechanics influence adhesive characteristics of Dung Beetle's bristle and Gecko's setae显示文摘Geckos(Gekko gecko)use their hairy setae to adhere on various solid surfaces and dung beetles(Copris ochus Motschulsky)use their hairy bristles to anti-adhere in sticky environments. We study why two hairy systems express a conflict in functions by using SEM,histological approaches and functional experiments.Adhesion models and various parameters were collected and analyzed.Based on the morphological data and functional experimental results carried out by natural and denatured gecko setae and beetle bristles,we first demonstrated that the stiffness along the hair is 1000 to 30000 times that perpendicular to the hair. This stiffness difference is the key factor leading to the two hairy systems' functional differences.Slope of gecko setae reduces contact stiffness, increases contact points and real contact area that results in amazing adhesive abilities. On the other hand, stiff bristles in a beetle have higher contact stiffness, which reduces the real contact area and decreases the adhesion between two contact surfaces.Deformation of gecko setae destroys the hierarchical structure, increases the contact stiffness and results in a decrease of adhesion forces.Similarly, deformation of beetle bristles destroys the erect structure of the hair, interconnects the separated bristles and thus decreases the anti-adhesive functions. These observations inspire us in designing anti-adhesive and adhesive biomimeticDai Zhendong Sun Jiurong Yue David Guo Ce Cheng Hong Yu Min Ji Aihong 2007Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2007,17,9:8
4Morphology and mechanical properties of Cybister elytra显示文摘The mechanical properties and the topological structure of cross-sections found in Cybister elytra are presented.SEM images show the similar geometric structure in transverse and longitudinal sections.Elytra consist of several layers:a dense, black epicuticle,an exocuticle that is braided by several parallel chitin fiber layers in a helix structure, and many bridge piers formed by the fiber bundles that connect the exocuticle to the endodermis, forming a composite,light-weight biomaterial. The mechanical properties along the edge of elytra are measured using a nano-indenter.The hardness and modulus of fresh cybister elytra is 0.31 GPa and 6.13 GPa,respectively. The ultimate stresses of fresh elytra, measured by using a tensile test machine, are 169.2 MPa and 194.5 MPa in the transverse and longitudinal directions, respectively, which is twice higher than that of the dried one.The difference in the two directions indicates that this bio-material has been topologically optimized during evolution. The results may provide a biological template to inspire lightweight structure design for aerospace engineering.YANG ZhiXian DAI ZhenDong GUO Ce 2010Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,8:8
5Structural design inspired by beetle elytra and its mechanical properties显示文摘On the basis of the microstructure of the cross-section of a beetle's elytra, three bio-inspired lightweight structures were designed and built from acrylonitrile butadiene styrene plastic with a three-dimensional printer. The mechanical properties of three lightweight structures were analyzed and compared employing the finite element method, and quasi-static compression experiments and a three-point bending test on the structure samples were carried out using an electronic universal testing machine to verify the effectiveness of the finite element method. The results show that all three bio-structures were lightweight and had excellent mechanical properties. In particular, the bio-structure with spherical holes and hollow columns perpendicular to the top and bottom surfaces best imitated the microstructure of the cross-section of the Cybister elytra and had the greatest specific strength/stiffness in compression and bending. Finally,a preliminary optimization design was obtained for this bio-structure to further improve its specific strength and specific stiffness to 31.82 kN m/kg and 108.73 kN m 2 /kg respectively.GUO Ce SONG WenWei DAI ZhenDong 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,8:8
6An antibody against Siglec-15 promotes bone formation and fracture healing by increasing TRAP^(+)mononuclear cells and PDGF-BB secretion显示文摘Osteoporosis(OP)is a common age-related disease characterized by a deterioration of bone mass and structure that predisposes patients to fragility fractures.Pharmaceutical therapies that promote anabolic bone formation in OP patients and OP-induced fracture are needed. We investigated whether a neutralizing antibody against Siglec-15 can simultaneously inhibit bone resorption and stimulate bone formation. We found that the multinucleation of osteoclasts was inhibited in SIGLEC-15 conditional knockout mice and mice undergoing Siglec-15 neutralizing antibody treatment. The secretion of platelet-derived growth factor-BB(PDGF-BB),the number of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase-positive(TRAP+)mononuclear cells, and bone formation were significantly increased in the SIGLEC-15 conditional knockout mice and antibody-treated mice. The anabolic effect of the Siglec-15 neutralizing antibody on bone formation was blunted in mice with Pdgfb deleted in TRAP-1'cells.These findings showed that the anabolic effect of the Siglec-15 neutralizing antibody was mediated by elevating PDGF-BB production of TRAP4 mononuclear cells. To test the therapeutic potential of the Siglec-15 neutralizing antibody,we injected the antibody in an ovariectomy-induced osteoporotic mouse model, which mimics postmenopausal osteoporosis in women, and in two fracture healing models because fracture is the most serious health consequence of osteoporosis. The Siglec-15 neutralizing antibody effectively reduced bone resorption and stimulated bone formation in estrogen deficiency-induced osteoporosis.Of note, the Siglec-15 neutralizing antibody promoted intramembranous and endochondral ossification at the damaged area of cortical bone in fracture healing mouse models. Thus, the Siglec-15 neutralizing antibody shows significant translational potential as a novel therapy for OP and bone fracture.Gehua Zhen Yang Dan Ruomei Wang Ce Dou Qiaoyue Guo Melissa Zarr Linda N.Liu Lieping Chen Ruoxian Deng Yusheng Li Zengwu Shao Xu Cao 2021Bone Research2021,9,4:6
7Precise temporal regulation of Dux is important for embryo development显示文摘Dear Editor,Zygotic genome activation(ZGA)following fertilization is accomplished through a process termed the maternal-to-zygotic transition, during which the maternal RNAs and proteins are degraded and zygotic genome is transcriptionally activated. In mice, minor ZGA occurs from S phase of the zygote to G1 phase of the two-cell(2C)embryo,while major ZGA takes place during the middle-to-late 2C stage with a burst of transcription of totipotent cleavage stage-specific genes and retrotransposons.Mingyue Guo Yanping Zhang Jianfeng Zhou Yan Bi Junqin Xu Ce Xu Xiaochen Kou Yanhong Zhao Yanhe Li Zhifen Tu Kuisheng Liu Jiaming Lin Peng Yang Shaorong Gao Yixuan Wang 2019Cell Research2019,29,11:5
8Effect of lactic acid bacteria inoculants on alfalfa(Medicago sativa L.) silage quality:assessment of degradation(in situ) and gas production(in vitro)显示文摘Alfalfa(Medicago sativa) is difficult to ensile successfully because of the low content of moisture and water-soluble carbohydrates(WSC) in fresh alfalfa and the high buffering capacity in fresh alfalfa. Here, we conducted a study to evaluate the effects of three lactic acid bacteria(LAB) inoculants(Lactobacillus casei, Lactobacillus plantarum, and Pediococcus pentosaceus) on silage quality, in situ ruminal degradability, and in vitro fermentation of alfalfa silage. The first cut of alfalfa was wilted, chopped, and randomly divided into four groups: the control(CON) and control mixed with three separate LAB inoculants(10~6 cfug^(–1)). Simmental steers with a body weight of(452±18) kg and with installed rumen fistulas were prepared for in situ degradation and for in vitro gas production. LAB inoculants had a lower(P<0.05) content of butyric acid than the CON group. Among them, the L. casei inoculated silage had a higher(P<0.05) content of water-soluble carbohydrate(WSC) and a lower(P<0.05) NH_3-H content. The effective degradation(ED) of crude protein in LAB inoculation decreased(P<0.05), while the ED of acid detergent fiber increased(P<0.05) in situ fermentation. The alfalfa silage with LAB inoculants produced more carbon dioxide(P<0.05). The NH_3-H content of mixed incubation fluid in L. casei inoculated silage was lower(P<0.05) compared with other groups. Therefore, this study showed that LAB inoculants could improve both ensiling quality and degradation. In particular, the L. casei inoculations exhibited better performance by limiting proteolysis during ensiling.LIU Ce LAI Yu-jiao LU Xiao-nan GUO Ping-ting LUO Hai-ling 2016Journal of Integrative Agriculture2016,15,12:3
9SRSF1 plays a critical role in invariant natural killer T cell development and function显示文摘Invariant natural killer T(iNKT)cells are highly conserved innate-like T lymphocytes that originate from CD4^(+)CD8^(+)double-positive(DP)thymocytes.Here,we report that serine/arginine splicing factor 1(SRSF1)intrinsically regulates iNKT cell development by directly targeting Myb and balancing the abundance of short and long isoforms.Conditional ablation of SRSF1 in DP cells led to a substantially diminished iNKT cell pool due to defects in proliferation, survival, and TCRαrearrangement. The transition from stage 0 to stage 1 of iNKT cells was substantially blocked, and the iNKT2 subset was notably diminished in SRSF1-deficient mice.SRSF1 deficiency resulted in aberrant expression of a series of regulators that are tightly correlated with iNKT cell development and iNKT2 differentiation, including Myb,PLZF,Gata3,ICOS,and CD5.In particular,we found that SRSF1 directly binds and regulates pre-mRNA alternative splicing of Myb and that the expression of the short isoform of Myb is substantially reduced in SRSF1-deficient DP and iNKT cells.Strikingly, ectopic expression of the Myb short isoform partially rectified the defects caused by ablation of SRSF1.Furthermore,we confirmed that the SRSF1-deficient mice exhibited resistance to acute liver injury uponα-GalCer and Con A induction. Our findings thus uncovered a previously unknown role of SRSF1 as an essential post-transcriptional regulator in iNKT cell development and functional differentiation, providing new clinical insights into iNKT-correlated disease.Jingjing Liu Menghao You Yingpeng Yao Ce Ji Zhao Wang Fang Wang Di Wang Zhihong Qi Guotao Yu Zhen Sun Wenhui Guo Juanjuan Liu Shumin Li Yipeng Jin Tianyan Zhao Hai-Hui Xue Yuanchao Xue Shuyang Yu 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,11:3
10Mechanical properties of a novel, lightweight structure inspired by beetle's elytra显示文摘A new kind of bio-inspired, lightweight structure was designed and built from carbon fibre prepreg based on the cross-sectional microstructure of a beetle's elytra. The compression strength and failure process of the resulting structure was analysed using the finite element method; while at the same time, a quasi-static compression experiment was performed using an electronic universal testing machine to verify the effectiveness and accuracy of this finite element method. This bio-inspired structure was compared against a conventional honeycomb structure using FEM, revealing that for a given porosity and load parallel to the axis of the core tubes the respective compressive and specific compressive strengths of the bioinspired structure are much higher at 84.3 MPa and194.7 MPa/(g cm-3); thus demonstrating that this bioinspired structure has superior compressive capability.Ce Guo Dong Li Zhenyu Lu Chunsheng Zhu Zhendong Da 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,26:3
11Divisional and hierarchical innervations of G. gecko's toes to motion and reception显示文摘As a member of robot families, climbing robots have become one of the research hot-spots in the robotic field recently and Gekko gecko (G. gecko) has been broadly seen as an ideal model for climbing robot development. But for gecko-mimic robots, one of the key problems is how to design the robot's foot. In this paper, (1) high-speed camera recording and electrophysiological method are used to observe motion patterns of G. gecko's foot when it climbs on different oriented surfaces; (2) nerve innervations of gecko's toes to motion and reception are studied. It is found that the five toes of the G. gecko can be divided into two motion and reception divisions, and also its motion and reception are modulated and controlled hierarchically. The results provide important information and exclusive ideas for the foot design and control algorithm of gecko-mimic robots.GUO Ce CAI Lei XIE HeRui WANG ZhouYi DAI ZhenDong SUN JiuRong 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,16:3

1320S proteasome and glyoxalase 1 activities decrease in erythrocytes derived from Alzheimer’s disease patients显示文摘As a result of accumulating methylglyoxal and advanced glycation end products in the brains of patients with Alzheimer’s disease,it is considered a protein precipitation disease. The ubiquitin proteasome system is one of the most important mechanisms for cells to degrade proteins, and thus is very important for maintaining normal physiological function of the nervous system. This study recruited 48 individuals with Alzheimer’s disease(20 males and 28 females aged 75±6 years)and 50 healthy volunteers(21 males and 29 females aged 72±7 years)from the Affiliated Hospital of Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities(Baise,China)between 2014 and 2017.Plasma levels of malondialdehyde and H2O2 were measured by colorimetry, while glyoxalase 1 activity was detected by spectrophotometry. In addition,20S proteasome activity in erythrocytes was measured with a fluorescent substrate method.Ubiquitin and glyoxalase 1 protein expression in erythrocyte membranes was detected by western blot assay. The results demonstrated that compared with the control group, patients with Alzheimer’s disease exhibited increased plasma malondialdehyde and H2O2 levels, and decreased glyoxalase 1 activity;however, expression level of glyoxalase 1 protein remained unchanged. Moreover, activity of the 20S proteasome was decreased and expression of ubiquitin protein was increased in erythrocytes. These findings indicate that proteasomal and glyoxalase activities may be involved in the occurrence of Alzheimer’s disease, and erythrocytes may be a suitable tissue for Alzheimer’s disease studies. This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of Youjiang Medical University for Nationalities(approval No.YJ12017013)on May 3,2017.Hui Lv Gui-Yuan Wei Can-Shou Guo Yu-Feng Deng Yong-Ming Jiang Ce Gao Chong-Dong Jian 2020Neural Regeneration Research2020,15,1:2

15The Modulation and Control of the Gecko's Foot Movement显示文摘The modulation and control of gecko’s foot movements were studied electrophysiologically in order to design the motor control system of a gecko-mimic robot. In this study (1) the anatomy of the peripheral nerves controlling the gecko’s foot movements was determined; (2) the relationship between the limb nerves of the gecko and its foot motor patterns was studied; (3) the afferent impulses of the nerves evoked by rubbing the gecko’s toes and palm were recorded; (4) copying the natural patterns of movement of the gecko’s foot (abduction, adduction, flexion, and revolution) and its limb nerve modulation and control mechanism, the nerves were stimulated under computer control, and the results recorded by CCD. Results suggest that gecko’s foot movements can be successfully controlled by artificial electrical signals.Guo Ce Dai Zhen-dong Ji Ai-hong Wang Wei-ying Sun Jiu-rong 2005Journal of Bionic Engineering2005,2,3:2
16Evaluating the Health Risks of Pneumonia from Airborne Bacterial Communities Using 16S rDNA Sequences of Pneumonia-related Pathogens显示文摘Objective Airborne microbial communities include a significant number of uncultured and poorly characterized bacteria. No effective method currently exists to evaluate the health risks of such complex bacterial populations, particularly for pneumonia. Methods We developed a method to evaluate risks from airborne microorganisms, guided by the principle that closer evolutionary relationships reflect similar biological characteristics, and thus used16 S rDNA sequences of 10 common pneumonia-related bacterial pathogens. We calculated a risk of breath-related(Rbr)index of airborne bacterial communities and verified effectiveness with artificial flora and a clinical project. Results We suggested applying Rbr80 to evaluate the health risks of airborne bacterial communities that comprise 80% of dominant operational taxonomic units(OTUs).The feasibility of Rbr80 was confirmed by artificial flora and by pneumonia data from a hospital.A high Rbr80 value indicated a high risk of pneumonia from airborne bacterial communities. Conclusion Rbr80 is an effective index to evaluate the pneumonia-associated risk from airborne bacteria.Values of Rbr80 greater than 15.40 are considered high risk.GUO Jian Guo KONG Qi LIU Ce KANG Tai Sheng QIN Chuan 2021Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2021,34,4:2
17Towards efficient deep neural network training by FPGA-based batch-level parallelism显示文摘Training deep neural networks(DNNs)requires a significant amount of time and resources to obtain acceptable results, which severely limits its deployment in resource-limited platforms. This paper proposes DarkFPGA,a novel customizable framework to efficiently accelerate the entire DNN training on a single FPGA platform.First,we explore batch-level parallelism to enable efficient FPGA-based DNN training.Second,we devise a novel hardware architecture optimised by a batch-oriented data pattern and tiling techniques to effectively exploit parallelism. Moreover,an analytical model is developed to determine the optimal design parameters for the DarkFPGA accelerator with respect to a specific network specification and FPGA resource constraints. Our results show that the accelerator is able to perform about 10 times faster than CPU training and about a third of the energy consumption than GPU training using 8-bit integers for training VGG-like networks on the CIFAR dataset for the Maxeler MAX5 platform.Cheng Luo Man-Kit Sit Hongxiang Fan Shuanglong Liu Wayne Luk Ce Guo 2020Journal of Semiconductors2020,41,2:2
18A novel non-separation opening scheme of front cover for rocket launch canister显示文摘In view of that existing opening technologies of front cover for rocket launch canister have disadvantages such as causing damage on the ground equipment, not being reused and easily broken.A novel reusable non-separation spring-driven opening scheme is proposed to achieve rapid and reliable opening of the front cover. The mathematical model of the opening process of the front cover is established by the rigid body dynamics theory. To establish a response surface model to optimize the opening scheme, three main influencing factors of the opening process are obtained through the designed experiments, including the pre-compression,the stiffness of the thrust spring, and the thrust spring force arm length. In addition, the prescribed kinematic law was taken as constraint, and the smaller thrust spring preliminary pressure and angular velocity was taken as optimization expectations. The results show that the opening scheme meets the design requirements on opening process well.It also shows that the optimized scheme can reduce the kinetic energy of the front cover, and the impact on the canister effectively, achieving a reliable and rapid opening of the front cover.Ce Zhang Xin Zhao Zonglai Mo Zhuoyu Guo Jun Li 2019Defence Technology(防务技术)2019,15,6:1
19Is oral microbiome of children able to maintain resistance and functional stability in response to short-term interference of ingesta?显示文摘Dear Editor,A series of studies had focused on the ecological stability of human microbiome(Lozupone et al.,2012;Faith et al.,2013;Moya and Ferrer,2016).Despite the continuous perturbation and the highly personalized composition within the human microbiome(Human Microbiome Project,2012),healthy adults stably maintain their microbial communities in terms of space and time(Faith et al.,2013;Moya and Ferrer,2016;Oh et al.,2016).This stability is proved to be critical for the well-being of human body(Lozupone et al.,2012).On the contrary, major shifts in microbial community composition are often related to diseases(Lynch and Pedersen,2016).Fangqiao Wei Xiangyu Sun Yufeng Gao Haoyu Dou Yang Liu Lili Su Haofei Luo Ce Zhu Qian Zhang Peiyuan Tong Wen Ren Zhe Xun Ruochun Guo Yuanlin Guan Shenghui Li Yijun Qi Junjie Qin Feng Chen Shuguo Zheng 2021Protein & Cell2021,12,6:1
20Polyaniline-based electrocatalysts through emulsion polymerization:Electrochemical and electrocatalytic performances显示文摘One of the major challenges associated with fuel cells is the design of highly efficient electrocatalysts to reduce the high overpotential of the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR). Here we report Polyaniline(PANI)based micro/nanomaterials with or without transition metals, prepared by the emulsion polymerization and subsequent heat treatment. PANI microspheres with the diameter of about 0.7 μm have been prepared in basic(NH3solution) condition, using two different types of surfactant(CTAB, SDS) as the stabilizer, ammonium persulphate(APS) as oxidant with aniline/surfactants molar ratio at 1/1 under the hydrothermal treatment. PANI nanorods, Fe–PANI, and Fe–Co–PANI have been synthesized in acidic(HCl)medium with aniline/surfactants molar ratio at 1/2 and polymerization carried out without stirring for24 h. Products mainly Fe–Co–PANI have shown high current density with increasing sweep rate and excellent specific capacitance 1753 F/g at the scan rate of 1 m V/s. Additionally, it has shown high thermal stability by thermogravimetric analysis(TGA). Fe–PANI has been investigated for excellent performance toward ORR with four electron selectivity in the basic electrolyte. The PANI-based catalysts from emulsion polymerization demonstrate that the method is valuable for making non-precious metal heterogeneous electrocatalysts for ORR or energy storage and conversion technology.Shehnaz Xuedan Song Suzhen Ren Ying Yang Yanan Guo Hongyu Jing Qing Mao Ce Hao 2017Journal of Energy Chemistry2017,26,1:1
