| 1 | SIRT7 antagonizes human stem cell aging as a heterochromatin stabilizer显示文摘SIRT7,a sirtuin family member implicated in aging and disease,is a regulator of metabolism and stress responses.It remains elusive how human somatic stem cell populations might be impacted by SIRT7.Here,we found that SIRT7 expression declines during human mesenchymal stem cell(hMSC)aging and that SIRT7 deficiency accelerates senescence.Mechanistically,SIRT7 forms a complex with nuclear lamina proteins and heterochromatin proteins,thus maintaining the repressive state of heterochromatin at nuclear periphery.Accordingly,deficiency of SIRT7 results in loss of heterochromatin,derepression of the LINE1 retrotransposon(LINE1),and activation of innate immune signaling via the cGAS-STING pathway.These agingassociated cellular defects were reversed by overexpression of heterochromatin proteins or treatment with a LINE1 targeted reverse-transcriptase inhibitor.Together,these findings highlight how SIRT7 safeguards chromatin architecture to control innate immune regulation and ensure geroprotection during stem cell aging. | Shijia Bi Zunpeng Liu Zeming Wu Zehua Wang Xiaoqian Liu Si Wang Jie Ren Yan Yao Weiqi Zhang Moshi Song Guang-Hui Liu Jing Qu | 2020 | Protein & Cell2020,11,7: | 10 |

| 3 | Rapid repair techniques for severely earthquake-damaged circular bridge piers with flexural failure mode显示文摘In this study, three rapid repair techniques are proposed to retrofit circular bridge piers that are severely damaged by the flexural failure mode in major earthquakes. The quasi-static tests on three 1:2.5 scaled circular pier specimens are conducted to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed repair techniques. For the purpose of rapid repair, the repair procedure for all the specimens is conducted within four days, and the behavior of the repaired specimens is evaluated and compared with the original ones. A finite element model is developed to predict the cyclic behavior of the repaired specimens and the numerical results are compared with the test data. It is found that all the repaired specimens exhibit similar or larger lateral strength and deformation capacity than the original ones. The initial lateral stiffness of all the repaired specimens is lower than that of the original ones, while they show a higher lateral stiffness at the later stage of the test. No noticeable difference is observed for the energy dissipation capacity between the original and repaired pier specimens. | 4 | Efficacy and economic analysis of Ex- PRESS implantation versus trabeculectomy in uncontrolled glaucoma: a systematic review and Meta-analysis显示文摘AIM:To systematically review the current evidence based on the efficacy and cost of Ex-PRESS implantation and trabeculectomy(Trab)for uncontrolled glaucoma.·METHODS:Clinical trials were identified by electronic databases(Pub Med,EMBASE,ISI Web of science and Cochrane library),and data,such as intraocular pressure(IOP),the complete and qualified success rate,the postoperative complications and the cost,were exacted from these relevant studies.Weighted mean difference(WMD),odds ratio(OR)and 95%confidence intervals(CIs)were calculated and were pooled using a randomeffects model.·RESULTS:Eleven relevant publications and two abstracts met the inclusion criteria.The efficacy of ExPRESS was similar to that of Trab in the percentage of IOP reduction(IOPR%)at 1,2y(WMD:-2.01;95%CI:-7.92-3.90;P=0.50 and WMD:2.89;95%CI:-8.05-13.83;P=0.60,respectively).Ex-PRESS possessed a significant higher complete and qualified success rate(OR:1.59;95%CI:1.07-2.35;P=0.02 and OR:1.74;95%CI:1.06-2.86;P=0.03,respectively).Moreover,Ex-PRESS exerted a significantly lower frequency of hypotony and hyphema than Trab(OR:0.39;95%CI:0.21-0.72;P=0.003 and OR:0.27;95%CI:0.10-0.69;P=0.003,respectively).However,there was no consistent result on the cost between the two groups according to the previous three studies.·CONCLUSION:Both Trab and Ex-PRESS have equivalent efficacy in lowering IOP,yet Ex-PRESS had a lower risk of hypotony and hyphema than Trab.Nevertheless,whether the cost of Ex-PRESS was less than that of Trab should be further investigated to ensure evidence-based conclusion in the long run. | Ling Wang Fang Sha Da-Dong Guo Hong-Sheng Bi Jun-Kang Si Yu-Xiang Du Kai Tang | 2016 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2016,9,1: | 5 |
| 5 | One-Step High-Temperature-Synthesized Single-Atom Platinum Catalyst for Efficient Selective Hydrogenation显示文摘Although single-atom catalysts significantly improve the atom utilization efficiency,the multistep preparation procedures are complicated and difficult to control.Herein,we demonstrate that one-step in situ synthesis of the single-atom Pt anchored in single-crystal MoC(Pt_(1)/MoC)by using facile and controllable arc-discharge strategy under extreme conditions.The high temperature(up to 4000℃)provides the sufficient energy for atom dispersion and overall stability by forming thermodynamically favourable metal-support interactions.The high-temperature-stabilized Pt1/MoC exhibits outstanding performance and excellent thermal stability as durable catalyst for selective quinoline hydrogenation.The initial turnover frequency of 3710 h^(-1)is greater than those of previously reported samples by an order of magnitude under 2 MPa H_(2)at 100℃.The catalyst also shows broad scope activity toward hydrogenation containing unsaturated groups of C=C,C=N,and C=O.The facile,one-step,and fast arc-discharge method provides an effective avenue for single-atom catalyst fabrication that is conventionally challenging. | Qingyuan Bi Xiaotao Yuan Yue Lu Dong Wang Jian Huang Rui Si Manling Sui Fuqiang Huang | 2020 | Research2020,,1: | 5 |
| 6 | Combination of ranibizumab with photodynamic therapy vs ranibizumab monotherapy in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials显示文摘AIM:To compare the efficacy and safety of combination of ranibizumab with photodynamic therapy(PDT)vs ranibizumab monotherapy in the treatment of age-related macular degeneration(AMD).METHODS:The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials(CENTRAL)in the Cochrane Library,Pubmed,and Embase were searched.There were no language or data restrictions in the search for trials.Only randomized controlled trials(RCTs)were included.Methodological quality of the literatures was evaluated according to the Jadad Score.RevMan 5.2.6 software was used to do the meta-analysis.RESULTS:Seven studies were included in our systematic review,among which four of them were included in quantitative analysis.The result shows that the ranibizumab monotherapy group had a better mean best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)change vs baseline at month 12 compared with that of the combination treatment group,and the statistical difference was significant(WMD,-2.61;95%CI,-5.08 to-0.13;P=0.04).However,after the removal of one study,the difference between the two groups showed no significant difference(WMD,-2.29;95%CI,-4.81 to 0.23;P=0.07).Meanwhile,no significant central retinal thickness(CRT)reduction was found in the combination treatment group and the ranibizumab monotherapy group at 12 months follow-up.Nevertheless,the combination group tended to have a greater reduction in CRT(WMD,-4.13μm;95%CI,-25.88to 17.63,P=0.71).The proportion of patients gaining more than 3 lines at month 12 in the ranibizumab group was higher than in the combination group and there was a significant difference(RR,0.72;95%CI,0.54 to 0.95;P=0.02).Whereas there was no significant difference for the proportion of patients gaining more than 0 line at month12 between the two groups(RR,0.93;95%CI,0.76 to1.15;P=0.52).The general tendency shows a reduction in ranibizumab retreatment number in the combination treatment group compared with the ranibizumab monotherapy group.As major adverse events,the differences in the number of eye pain,endophthalmitis,hypertension and arterial thromboembolic events were not significant between the two groups,and the incidence of serious adverse events in the two groups was very low.CONCLUSION:For the maintenance of vision,the comparison of the combination of ranibizumab with PDT vs ranibizumab monotherapy shows no apparent difference.Compared with the combination of ranibizumab and PDT,patients treated with ranibizumab monothearpy may gain more visual acuity(VA)improvement.The combination treatment group had a tendency to reduce the number of ranibizumab retreatment.Both the two treatment strategies were well tolerated. | Jun-Kang Si Kai Tang Hong-Sheng Bi Da-Dong Guo Jun-Guo Guo Yu-Xiang Du Yan Cui Xue-Mei Pan Ying Wen Xing-Rong Wang | 2014 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2014,7,3: | 5 |

| 8 | High-efficiency acetaldehyde removal during solid-state polycondensation of poly(ethylene terephthalate) assisted by supercritical carbon dioxide显示文摘The concentration of acetaldehyde(AA) is the main quality index of poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET) used in food and drink packaging.A new method for AA removal has been developed by using supercritical carbon dioxide(sc CO2) during the solid-state polycondensation of PET.The influence factors of AA removal including the temperature,pressure,reaction time and the size of pre-polymer particles are systematically studied in this work.The results indicate that it is a highly efficient way to obtain high molecular weight PET with relative low concentration of AA.Correspondingly,the polymerization degree of PET could increase from 27.9 to 85.6 while the concentration of AA reduces from 0.229 × 10^(-6) to 0.055 × 10^(-6) under the optimal operation conditions of 230 °C,8 MPa and size of 0.30–0.45 mm.Thermodynamic performance tests show the increasing extent of PET crystallinity due to the fact that the plasticization of sc CO_2 is not obvious with extended reaction time,therefore the increasing crystallinity has no significant influence on AA removal.SEM observations reveal that the effects of sc CO_(2-) induced plasticization and swelling on PET increase significantly with the decrease of prepolymer size,and the surface of PET becomes more loose and porous in favor of the AA removal. | Zhenhao Xi Tian Liu Wei Si Fenglei Bi Zhimei Xu Ling Zhao | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2018,26,6: | 2 |
| 9 | Ranibizumab alone or in combination with photodynamic therapy vs photodynamic therapy for polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy: a systematic review and Meta-analysis显示文摘AIM: To compare the efficacy of intravitreal ranibizumab(IVR) alone or in combination with photodynamic therapy(PDT) vs PDT in patients with symptomatic polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy(PCV).·METHODS: A systematic search of a wide range of databases(including Pub Med, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and Web of Science) was searched to identify relevant studies. Both randomized controlled trials(RCTs) and non-RCT studies were included.Methodological quality of included literatures was evaluated according to the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale.Rev Man 5.2.7 software was used to do the Meta-analysis.·RESULTS: Three RCTs and 6 retrospective studies were included. The results showed that PDT monotherapy had a significantly higher proportion in patients who achieved complete regression of polyps than IVR monotherapy at months 3, 6, and 12(All P ≤0.01), respectively. However, IVR had a tendency to be more effective in improving vision on the basis of RCTs.The proportion of patients who gained complete regression of polyps revealed that there was no significant difference between the combination treatment and PDT monotherapy. The mean change of best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA) from baseline showed that the combination treatment had significant superiority in improving vision vs PDT monotherapy at months 3, 6and 24(All P <0.05), respectively. In the mean time, this comparison result was also significant at month 12(P <0.01) after removal of a heterogeneous study.·CONCLUSION: IVR has non-inferiority compare with PDT either in stabilizing or in improving vision, although it can hardly promote the regression of polyps. The combination treatment of PDT and IVR can exert a synergistic effect on regressing polyps and on maintaining or improving visual acuity. | 10 | Estrogen receptor beta treats Alzheimer's disease显示文摘In vitro studies have shown that estrogen receptor β can attenuate the cytotoxic effect of amyloid β protein on PC12 cells through the Akt pathway without estrogen stimulation. In this study, we aimed to observe the effect of estrogen receptor β in Alzheimer's disease rat models established by intraventricular injection of amyloid β protein. Estrogen receptor β lentiviral particles delivered via intraventricular injection increased Akt content in the hippocampus, decreased interleukin-1β mRNA, tumor necrosis factor α mRNA and amyloid β protein levels in the hippocampus, and improved the learning and memory capacities in Alzheimer's disease rats. Estrogen receptor β short hairpin RNA lentiviral particles delivered via intraventricular injection had none of the above impacts on Alzheimer's disease rats. These experimental findings indicate that estrogen receptor β, independent from estrogen, can reduce inflammatory reactions and amyloid β deposition in the hippocampus of Alzheimer's disease rats, and improve learning and memory capacities.
