| 1 | Molecular approach to genetic and epigenetic pathogenesis of early-onset colorectal cancer显示文摘Colorectal cancer(CRC) is the third most frequent cancer type and the incidence of this disease is increasing gradually per year in individuals younger than 50 years old. The current knowledge is that early-onset CRC(EOCRC) cases are heterogeneous population that includes both hereditary and sporadic forms of the CRC. Although EOCRC cases have some distinguishing clinical and pathological features than elder age CRC, the molecular mechanism underlying the EOCRC is poorly clarified. Given the significance of CRC in the world of medicine, the present review will focus on the recent knowledge in the molecular basis of genetic and epigenetic mechanism of the hereditary forms of EOCRC, which includes Lynch syndrome, Familial CRC type X, Familial adenomatous polyposis, Mut YH-associated polyposis, Juvenile polyposis syndrome, Peutz-Jeghers Syndrome and sporadic forms of EOCRC. Recent findings about molecular genetics and epigenetic basis of EOCRC gave rise to new alternative therapy protocols. | 2 | Heavy metal content in relation to particle size and organic content of surficial sediments in Miami River and transport potential显示文摘Transport of contaminants in Miami River(Florida,USA) sediments with river currents is a concern due to their potential impact in areas that are away from the potential sources.Accumulation profiles of five metals(As,Cd,Hg,Zn,Pb) in the surficial sediments of the Miami River were evaluated in relation to grain size(from less than 0.075 mm to 6.3 mm) and organic content.Surficial sediment samples were collected along the river basin as well as in bay waters.Fine sediments(< 0.106 mm) contained more than 10 times the levels of Cd and Hg and more than 6 times the levels of arsenic in comparison to the sediments that are larger than 0.850 mm.Zn and Pb levels were more than 10 times in the fine sediments(< 0.106 mm) in comparison to those that were larger than 4.750 mm.Cd,Hg,and Zn levels had significant correlation with the total organic carbon content of the sediments.This indicates that Cd,Hg,and Zn in fine sediments have the potential to be metabolized in addition to potential to be mobilized with river currents.Analysis of the Gibbs settling velocities of particles showed that particles smaller than0.5 mm can be transported with the river currents.The levels of heavy metal in fine sediments(< 0.425 mm) along the river bed showed that fine particles had tendency to be mobilized and accumulate at locations where the rivers currents are low and carried out to the bay. | Berrin Tansel Syed Rafiuddin | 2016 | International Journal of Sediment Research2016，31，4： | 5 |

A 75-year-old male patient with the complaints of weight loss and difficulty in swallowing was admitted to our hospital from a nursing home. Upper system fiber-optic gastrointestinal endoscopy was performed and a mass at the junction of the hypopharynx and esophagus just below recessus piriformis obstructing almost the whole of the lumen and blocking the distal passage was detected. Computed tomography revealed marked narrowing secondary to osseous hypertrophy in the air column of the hypopharynx and proximal esophagus. Diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis or Forestier’s disease is an idiopathic disease characterized by the ossification of the anterior longitudinal ligament of vertebra and some of the extraspinal ligaments. | 7 | Ion imprinted cryogel-based supermacroporous traps for selective separation of cerium(Ⅲ) in real samples显示文摘This study demonstrates the preparation and characterization of a novel ion imprinted cryogel which exhibits high affinity and selectivity towards Ce(Ⅲ) ions in aqueous solutions and bastnasite ore samples.2-Hydroxyethyl methacrylate(HEMA) and N-methacryloylamido antipyrine(MAAP) were used as functional monomers for the preparation of Ce(Ⅲ) imprinted cryogel. The effects of various factors such as initial Ce(Ⅲ) concentration, flow rate, pH, interaction time and ionic strength on the Ce(Ⅲ) binding to the prepared ion imprinted cryogels were also studied. The binding equilibrium for Ce(Ⅲ) is obtained in30 min at the flow rate of 0.5 mL/min. The maximum binding capacity of the prepared ion imprinted cryogel towards Ce(Ⅲ) is obtained as 36.58 mg/g at optimum conditions. The selectivity of the prepared ion imprinted cryogel towards Ce(Ⅲ) in the presence of other possible interfering lanthanide ions such as La(Ⅲ) and Nd(Ⅲ) were also performed. The obtained results showed that the prepared ion imprinted cryogel exhibits high selectivity and sensitivity towards Ce(Ⅲ) ions. This study was to compare long-term effectiveness of two different types of polylactic acid (PLA) membranes on periodontal regeneration in surgically created class Ⅱ furcation defects in dogs. Methods Full thickness mucoperiosteal flap was raised on the buccal aspects of the experimental teeth and class Ⅱ furcation defects having 5 mm vertical dimensions were created on mandibular premolar Ⅲ and IV on each quadrant. The exposed root sudaces were thoroughly planed and PLA membranes were placed over the experimental defects on both sites. One site received liquid polymer membrane (LPM), and resorbable periodontal mesh (RPM) membranes were applied to the other site. The animals were sacrificed at 7 months after surgery and the specimens were processed for histological evaluation. Results The average length of new attachment formed on the treated roots in both groups ranged from 3. 02mm to 4.5mm. Complete bone filling was observed at the furcation sites. No statistically significant differences were found between two membranes in any of the parameters (P>0. 05).
