| 3 | DEVELOPMENT OF COMMON WHEAT GERM-PLASM RESISTANT TO BARLEY YELLOW DWARF VIRUS BY BIOTECHNOLOGY显示文摘Barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) is one of the most serious wheat diseases in China. So far no resistance has been described in common wheat. A certain level of BYDV resistance was found in thirteen Triticeae species. Thinopyrum intermedium, two octoploids derived from TH. intermedium/wheat, Zhong 4 awnless and TAF46, and one disomic addition line, L1 derived from TAF46, showed good resistance to BYDV by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Two wheat/TA. intermedium translocation lines, CPI 119880 and CPI 119899, showing good BYDV resistance were developed from L1 by using both CSph mutant and tissue culture. It is found that their BYDV resistance was controlled by a single dominant gene. Two cDNA probes pEleAcc3 and pPJN8 (E1-T1) were screened for detecting Th. intermedium DNA in wheat background. A specific band for the DNA of Th. intermedium and its derivatives was found in Southern hybridization. | 7 | Radiofrequency ablation for early oesophageal squamous neoplasia:Outcomes form United Kingdom registry显示文摘AIM:To report outcomes on patients undergoing radiofrequency ablation(RFA)for early oesophageal squamous neoplasia from a National Registry.METHODS:A Prospective cohort study from 8 tertiary referral centres in the United Kingdom.Patients with squamous high grade dysplasia(HGD)and early squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)confined to the mucosa were treated.Visible lesions were removed by endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR)before RFA.Following initial RFA treatment,patients were followed up 3monthly.Residual flat dysplasia was treated with RFA until complete reversal dysplasia(CR-D)was achieved or progression to invasive Squamous cell cancer defined as infiltration into the submucosa layer or beyond.The main outcome measures were CR-D at 12 mo from start of treatment,long term durability,progression to cancer and adverse events.RESULTS:Twenty patients with squamous HGD/ESCC completed treatment protocol.Five patients(25%)had EMR before starting RFA treatment.CR-D was 50%at12 mo with a median of 1 RFA treatment,mean 1.5(range 1-3).Two further patients achieved CR-D with repeat RFA after this time.Eighty per cent with CR-D remain dysplasia free at latest biopsy,with median follow up 24 mo(IQR 17-54).Six of 20 patients(30%)progressed to invasive cancer at 1 year.Four patients(20%)required endoscopic dilatations for symptomatic structuring after treatment.Two of these patients have required serial dilatations thereafter for symptomatic dysphagia with a median of 4 dilatations per patient.The other 2 patients required only a single dilatation to achieve an adequate symptomatic response.One patient developed cancer during follow up after end of treatment protocol.CONCLUSION:The role of RFA in these patients re-mains unclear.In our series 50%patients responded at12 mo.These figures are lower than limited published data. | Rehan J Haidry Mohammed A Butt Jason Dunn Matthew Banks Abhinav Gupta Howard Smart Pradeep Bhandari Lesley Ann Smith Robert Willert Grant Fullarton Morris John Massimo Di Pietro Ian Penman Marco Novelli Laurence B Lovat | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013，19，36： | 7 |

| 11 | Nonlinear optimal control of rotating flexible shaft in active magnetic bearings显示文摘The optimal control of nonlinear systems has been studied for years by many researchers. However, the application of optimal control problem to nonlinear non-affine systems needs more attention. In this paper we propose an optimal control design technique for a class of nonlinear and control non-affine equations. The dynamic equations of a flexible shaft supported by a pair of active magnetic bearings (AMBs) are used as the nonlinear control non-affine equations. Mathematical model for the flexible beam is chosen to be the well known Timoshenko beam model, which takes rotary inertia and shear deformations into account, and it is assumed that the shaft is supported by two frictionless bearings at the ends. The effective control of such systems is extremely important for very high angular velocity shafts which are a feature of many modern machines. The control must be able to cope with unbalanced masses and hence be very robust. We shall approach the problem by discretising the Timoshenko beam model and using standard difference formulae to develop a finite-dimensional model of the system. Then we use a recently developed technique for controlling nonlinear systems by reducing the problem to a sequence of linear time-varying (LTV) systems. An optimal control designed for each approximating linear, time-varying system and recent results show that this method will converge uniformly on compact time intervals to the optimal solution. | G.
