1Mechanism of Salt Tolerance in Rice显示文摘Shaheen Basma ti was evolved as a salt tolerant fine rice va riety by the Soil Salinity Research Institute,Pindi Bhattian, Pakistan. Water culture studies were conducted to investigate the physiological mechanismexercised by this variety in particular and rice plant in general to face the saline environment. Performanceof this rice variety and the concentration and uptake of ions were studied under stress of three salinity levels(30, 60 and 90 mmol L-1) created with NaCl. Recorded data indicated that shoot dry matter was notsignificantly affected by all the three levels of salinity. However, NaCl levels of 60 and 90 mmol L-1 affectedthe root dry matter significantly. Sodium concentration and uptake was enhanced significantly in root andshoot at the first level of salinity (30 mmol L-1) but thereafter the differences were non-significant, indicatingthe preferential absorption of this cation. The K concentration decreased significantly in shoots at all thelevels. The impact was less pronounced in roots as far as K absorption was concerned. The effect on Ca andMg concentrations was not significant. 2Multilayer ceramic coating for impeding corrosion of sintered NdFeB magnets显示文摘Sintered NdFeB magnets have complex microstructure that makes them susceptible to corrosion in active environments.The current paper evaluated the anticorrosion characteristics of multilayer titanium nitride ceramic coating applied through cathodic arc physical vapour deposition(CAPVD) for protection of sintered NdFeB permanent magnets.The performance of ceramic coating was compared to the electrodeposited nickel coating having a copper interlayer.Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) and cyclic polarization in simulated marine environment were employed to determine the rates of coatings degradation and passivation behaviour respectively.The coating morphologies and surface chemistry were studied with scanning electron microscope(SEM).X-ray diffraction(XRD) was used for identification of component phases in the coatings and the substrate.The results showed that the polarization resistance of ceramic coating increased with the exposure time.The rate of degradation of Rp for the ceramic coating had an extraordinary negative slope followed by a stable duration,before declining towards the coating failure.In comparison the nickel coating with copper interlayer degraded sharply.The vapour deposited ceramic coating was found to have permeable defects that tended to 're-passivate' during exposure providing prolonged corrosion protection to the NdFeB substrate.The magnetic properties were unaffected and remained at par with the nickel coating having copper interlayer.A.Ali A.Ahmad K.M.Deen 2009Journal of Rare Earths2009,27,6:12
3Efficacy of octreotide in the prevention of complications after pancreaticoduodenectomy in patients with soft pancreas and non-dilated pancreatic duct: A prospective randomized trial显示文摘Background: The efficacy of octreotide to prevent postoperative pancreatic fistula(POPF) of pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD) is still controversial. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of postoperative use of octreotide on the outcomes after PD.Methods: This is a prospective randomized controlled trial for postoperative use of octreotide in patients undergoing PD. Patients with soft pancreas and pancreatic duct < 3 mm were randomized to 2 groups.Group I did not receive postoperative octreotide. Group II received postoperative octreotide. The primary end of the study is to compare the rate of POPF.Results: A total of 104 patients were included in the study and were divided into two randomized groups.There were no significant difference in overall complications and its severity. POPF occurred in 11 patients(21.2%) in group I and 10(19.2%) in group II, without statistical significance(P = 0.807). Also, there was no significant differences between both groups regarding the incidence of biliary leakage(P = 0.083), delayed gastric emptying(P = 0.472), and early postoperative mortality(P = 0.727).Conclusions: Octreotide did not reduce postoperative morbidities, reoperation and mortality rate. 5Current landscape in motoneuron regeneration and reconstruction for motor cranial nerve injuries显示文摘The intricate anatomy and physiology of cranial nerves have inspired clinicians and scientists to study their roles in the nervous system. Damage to motor cranial nerves may result from a variety of organic or iatrogenic insults and causes devastating functional impairment and disfigurement. Surgical innovations directed towards restoring function to injured motor cranial nerves and their associated organs have evolved to include nerve repair, grafting, substitution, and muscle transposition. In parallel with this progress, research on tissue-engineered constructs, development of bioelectrical interfaces, and modulation of the regenerative milieu through cellular, immunomodulatory, or neurotrophic mechanisms has proliferated to enhance the available repertoire of clinically applicable reconstructive options. Despite these advances, patients continue to suffer from functional limitations relating to inadequate cranial nerve regeneration, aberrant reinnervation, or incomplete recovery of neuromuscular function. These shortfalls have profound quality of life ramifications and provide an impetus to further elucidate mechanisms underlying cranial nerve denervation and to improve repair. In this review, we summarize the literature on reconstruction and regeneration of motor cranial nerves following various injury patterns. We focus on seven cranial nerves with predominantly efferent functions and highlight shared patterns of injuries and clinical manifestations. We also present an overview of the existing reconstructive approaches, from facial reanimation, laryngeal reinnervation, to variations of interposition nerve grafts for reconstruction. We discuss ongoing endeavors to promote nerve regeneration and to suppress aberrant reinnervation and the development of synkinesis. 6Mineralogy and radioactivity of pegmatites from South Wadi Khuda area,Eastern Desert,Egypt显示文摘Radioactive minerals in pegmatites associated with granitic rocks are commonly encountered in the south of the Wadi Khuda area and found as dyke-like and small bodies.They are observed within garnet-muscovite granites near the contact with older granitoids.Field surveys indicated that the studied pegmatites vary in dimensions ranging from 2 to 10 m in width and from 10 to 500 m in length.They are composed mainly of intergrowth of milky quartz,reddish-pink K-feldspar and plagioclase together with small pockets of muscovite.Field radiometric measurements indicated that radioactivity in pegmatites is more than twice that of their enclosing country rocks.Radionuclide measurements revealed that the average contents of U and Th increase gradually from rocks of dioritic to granodioritic composition(1.5×10-6 U and 4.3×10-6 Th) and increase significantly in biotite granites(5.8×10-6 U and 15.2×10-6 Th) but drastically decrease in muscovite granites(2.2×10-6 U and 5.6×10-6 Th).The average contents of U and Th of anomalous pegmatites are 95.3×10-6 and 116.9×10-6,respectively,indicating their uraniferous nature.In the south of the Wadi Khuda area,pegmatites are low in average Th/U(1.4) and high in average U/K(35.6),which suggests that uranium concentrating processes did not affect the pegmatites,indicating poor source-rocks.Mineralogical investigations of the studied pegmatites revealed the presence of secondary uranium minerals(kasolite and autunite),in addition to zircon,thorite,apatite,garnet and biotite.Primary and secondary radioactive mineralizations indicated that the mineralization is not only magmatic,but also post-magmatic.Electron microprobe analyses showed distinct cryptic chemical zoning within thorite where UO2 decreases from core to rim.This feature in thorite is sporadic,suggesting non-uniform redistributions of UO2 within thorite during magmatic processes.Mohamed F.Raslan Mohamed A.Ali Mohamed G.El-Feky 2010Chinese Journal Of Geochemistry2010,29,4:2
7Enhancement of phosphors-solubility in ZnO by thermal annealing显示文摘We have demonstrated the effect of annealing temperature on the diffusion density of phosphors in zinc oxide. The P-dopant P430 was sprayed on ZnO pellets and annealed at different temperatures from 500 to 1000 ℃ with a step of 100 ℃ for one hour using a programmable furnace. The concentration of P was controlled by varying the annealing temperature and the maximum solubility of P(3% At) was achieved at annealing 800 ℃ determined by energy dispersive X-ray diffraction(EDX) measurements. X-ray diffraction(XRD) confirmed the hexagonal structure of ZnO and showed that the growth direction was along the c-axis. We observed a maximum up shift in the(002) plane at an annealing temperature of 800 ℃, suggesting that P atoms replaced Zn atoms in the structure which results in the reduction of the lattice constant. Room temperature photoluminescence(PL) spectrum consists of a peak at 3.28 eV and related to band edge emission, but samples annealed at 800 and 900 ℃ have an additional donor acceptor pair peak at 3.2 eV. 8Discovery of potential small molecular SARS-CoV-2 entry blockers targeting the spike protein显示文摘An epidemic of pneumonia caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is spreading worldwide. SARS-CoV-2 relies on its spike protein to invade host cells by interacting with the human receptor protein Angiotensin-Converting Enzymes 2 (ACE2). Therefore, designing an antibody or small-molecular entry blockers is of great significance for virus prevention and treatment. This study identified five potential small molecular anti-virus blockers via targeting SARS-CoV-2 spike protein by combining in silico technologies with in vitro experimental methods. The five molecules were natural products that binding to the RBD domain of SARS-CoV-2 was qualitatively and quantitively validated by both native Mass Spectrometry (MS) and Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR). 13Efficient predictions of formation energies and convex hulls from density functional tight binding calculations显示文摘Defects in materials significantly alter their electronic and structural properties,which affect the per-formance of electronic devices,structural alloys,and functional materials.However,calculating all the possible defects in complex materials with conventional Density Functional Theory(DFT)can be compu-tationally prohibitive.To enhance the efficiency of these calculations,we interfaced Density Functional Tight Binding(DFTB)with the Clusters Approach to Statistical Mechanics(CASM)software package for the first time.Using SiC and ZnO as representative examples,we show that DFTB gives accurate results and can be used as an efficient computational approach for calculating and pre-screening formation ener-gies/convex hulls.Our DFTB+CASM implementation allows for an efficient exploration(up to an order of magnitude faster than DFT)of formation energies and convex hulls,which researchers can use to probe other complex systems.Anshuman Kumar Zulfikhar A.Ali Bryan M.Wong 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,10:0

15Physical and Kinematical Characteristics of Wolf–Rayet Central Stars and their Host Planetary Nebulae显示文摘We address the physical and kinematical properties of Wolf–Rayet[WR]central stars(CSs)and their host planetary nebulae(PNe).The studied sample comprises all[WR]CSs that are currently known.The analysis is based on recent observations of the parallax,proper motion,and color index of[WR]CSs from the Gaia space mission’s early third release(eDR3)catalog,as well as common nebular characteristics.The results revealed an evolutionary sequence,in terms of decreasing Teff,from the early hot[WO 1]to the late cold[WC 12]stars.This evolutionary sequence extends beyond[WR]CS temperature and luminosity to additional CS and nebular characteristics.The statistical analysis shows that the mean final stellar mass and evolutionary age of the[WR]CS sample are 0.595±0.13M⊙and 9449±2437 yr,respectively,with a mean nebular dynamical age of 7270±1380 yr.In addition,we recognize that the color of the majority(∼85%)of[WR]CSs tends to be red rather than their genuine blue color.The analysis indicates that two-thirds of the apparent red color of most[WR]s is attributed to the interstellar extinction whereas the other one-third is due to the PN self-extinction effect.Z.Awad A.Ali 2023Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2023,23,9:0
16Mathematical modeling and parametric investigation of blood flow through a stenosis artery显示文摘In this study,a mathematical model is formulated to examine the blood flow through a cylindrical stenosed blood vessel.The stenosis disease is caused because of the abnormal narrowing of flow in the body.This narrowing causes serious health issues like heart attack and may decrease blood flow in the blood vessel.Mathematical modeling helps us analyze such issues.A mathematical model is considered in this study to explore the blood flow in a stenosis artery and is solved numerically with the finite difference method.The artery is an elastic cylindrical tube containing blood defined as a viscoelastic fluid.A complete parametric analysis has been done for the flow velocity to clarify the applicability of the defined problem.Moreover,the flow characteristics such as the impedance,the wall shear stress in the stenotic region,the shear stresses in the throat of the stenosis and at the critical stenosis height are discussed.The obtained results show that the intensity of the stenosis occurs mostly at the highest narrowing areas compared with all other areas of the vessel,which has a direct impact on the wall shear stress.It is also observed that the resistive impedance and wall shear pressure get the maximum values at the critical height of the stenosis.A.ALI M.HUSSAIN M.S.ANWAR M.INC 2021Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)2021,42,11:0
17The Pushtashan juvenile suprasubduction zone assemblage of Kurdistan (northeastern Iraq): A Cretaceous (Cenomanian) Neo-Tethys missing link显示文摘The Pushtashan suprasubduction zone assemblage of volcanic rocks, gabbros, norites and peridotites occurs in the Zagros suture zone, Kurdistan region, northeastern Iraq. Volcanic rocks are dominant in the assemblage and consist mainly of basalt and basaltic andesite flows with interlayered red shale and limestone horizons. Earlier lavas tend to be MORB-like, whereas later lavas display island arc tholeiite to boninitic geochemical characteristics. Tholeiitic gabbros intrude the norites and display fractionation trends typical of crystallisation under low-pressure conditions, whereas the norites display calc-alkaline traits, suggesting their source included mantle metasomatised by fluids released from subducted oceanic crust. Enrichment of Rb, Ba, Sr, Th and the presence of negative Nb anomalies indicate generation in a suprasubduction zone setting. Trondhjemite and granodiorite intrusions are present in the volcanic rocks, gabbros and norites. SHRIMP U-Pb dating of magmatic zircons from a granodiorite yields a mean^(206)Pb/^(238)U age of 96.0 ±2.0 Ma(Cenomanian). The initial ε_(Hf) value for the zircons show a narrow range from +12.8 to+15.6, with a weighted mean of + 13.90±0.96. This initial value is within error of model depleted mantle at 96 Ma or slightly below that, in the field of arc rocks with minimal contamination by older continental crust. The compositional bimodality of the Pushtashan suprasubduction sequence suggests seafloor spreading during the initiation of subduction, with a lava stratigraphy from earlyerupted MORB transitioning into calc-alkaline lavas and finally by 96 Ma intrusion of granodioritic and trondhjemitic bodies with juvenile crustal isotopic signatures. The results confirm another Cretaceous arc remnant preserved as an allochthon within the Iraqi segment of the Cenozoic Zagros suture zone. 18The Variability and Radial Velocity of Planetary Nebula Central Stars显示文摘The extremely accurate estimates of stellar variability and radial velocity in the Gaia Data Release 3(Gaia DR3)have enabled us to examine the close binarity and radial velocity(RV)of central stars(CSs)of planetary nebulae(PNe).This study is twofold:(1)searching for new close binary CS candidates to better understand how binarity affects the formation and evolution of PNe;and(2)extending the sample size of known RVs of PNe in order to understand their kinematics and the dynamics of the Milky Way.As a target sample,we used all true,possible,and likely PNe available in the literature.Then,we looked for their matched Gaia DR3 sources that provide measurements of variability and RV.As a result,we detected the first large collection of trustworthy photometric variability of 26 symbiotic stars and 82 CSs.In this CS group,there are 24 sources already classified as true close binary CSs in the literature.Hence,we discovered 58 new close binary CS candidates.This close binary(CB)sample represents more than half of what is currently available in the literature.In addition,we identified the radial velocities for 51 PNe.To our knowledge,24 of these were measured for the first time.The RV measurements predicted by Gaia,based on the Doppler shift of the CS absorption lines,and those derived from nebular emission lines,show satisfactory agreement except for a few extremely high-velocity PNe.A.Ali A.Mindil 2023Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics2023,23,4:0
19COVID19 Outbreak:A Hierarchical Framework for User Sentiment Analysis显示文摘Social networking sites in the most modernized world are flooded with large data volumes.Extracting the sentiment polarity of important aspects is necessary;as it helps to determine people’s opinions through what they write.The Coronavirus pandemic has invaded the world and been given a mention in the social media on a large scale.In a very short period of time,tweets indicate unpredicted increase of coronavirus.They reflect people’s opinions and thoughts with regard to coronavirus and its impact on society.The research community has been interested in discovering the hidden relationships from short texts such as Twitter and Weiboa;due to their shortness and sparsity.In this paper,a hierarchical twitter sentiment model(HTSM)is proposed to show people’s opinions in short texts.The proposed HTSM has two main features as follows:constructing a hierarchical tree of important aspects from short texts without a predefined hierarchy depth and width,as well as analyzing the extracted opinions to discover the sentiment polarity on those important aspects by applying a valence aware dictionary for sentiment reasoner(VADER)sentiment analysis.The tweets for each extracted important aspect can be categorized as follows:strongly positive,positive,neutral,strongly negative,or negative.The quality of the proposed model is validated by applying it to a popular product and a widespread topic.The results show that the proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art methods used in analyzing people’s opinions in short text effectively.Ahmed F.Ibrahim M.Hassaballah Abdelmgeid A.Ali Yunyoung Nam Ibrahim A.Ibrahim 2022Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,2:0
20Effects of g-jitter and radiation on three-dimensional double diffusion stagnation point nanofluid flow显示文摘The unsteady double diffusion of the boundary layer with the nanofluid flow near a three-dimensional(3D)stagnation point body is studied under a microgravity environment.The effects of g-jitter and thermal radiation exist under the microgravity environment,where there is a gravitational field with fluctuations.The flow problem is mathematically formulated into a system of equations derived from the physical laws and principles under the no-slip boundary condition.With the semi-similar transformation technique,the dimensional system of equations is reduced into a dimensionless system of equations,where the dependent variables of the problem are lessened.A numerical solution for the flow problem derived from the system of dimensionless partial differential equations is obtained with the Keller box method,which is an implicit finite difference approach.The effects studied are analyzed in terms of the physical quantities of principle interest with the fluid behavior characteristics,the heat transfer properties,and the concentration distributions.The results show that the value of the curvature ratio parameter represents the geometrical shape of the boundary body,where the stagnation point is located.The increased modulation amplitude parameter produces a fluctuating behavior on all physical quantities studied,where the fluctuating range becomes smaller when the oscillation frequency increases.Moreover,the addition of Cu nanoparticles enhances the thermal conductivity of the heat flux,and the thermal radiation could increase the heat transfer properties.M.H.A.KAMAL N.A.RAWI A.ALI S.SHAFIE 2020Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)2020,41,11:0
