| 1 | Effect of heat input and filler metals on weld strength of gas tungsten arc welding of AISI 316 weldments显示文摘The present work investigates the effect of filler metals and heat input on weld bead geometry and mechanical properties of alloy316 welded by using GTAW.ER309 L,ER316 L and ERNi Cr Mo-3 filler metals,are applied to study their effect on the weldment.Weld defects are examined using radiographic testing.The mechanical properties of welds are evaluated through uniaxial testing,hardness measuring,and bending test.The mechanical properties and cooling rate decrease with increasing heat input.Tensile strength,yield stress and percentage elongation of weldments using three fillers are determined.Best results are obtained using ERNi Cr Mo-3.Besides,weld nugget area,cooling time and solidification time increases with increasing heat input.Finally,applying bending test on weld samples,cracks,tearing and surface defects are not observed. | Essam Ahmed Ramy Ahmed A EL-Nikhaily A R S Essa | 2020 | China Welding2020，29，1： | 7 |
| 2 | Decreased apoptosis in advanced-stage/high-grade hepatocellular carcinoma complicating chronic hepatitis C is mediated through the downregulation of p21 ras显示文摘Objective and background: Although p21 ras has been reported to be upregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma complicating chronic hepatitis C type I, p21 ras has a different role in advanced stages, as it has been found to be downregulated. The goal of this study was to investigate the status of p21 ras in early-stage/low-grade and late-stage/high-grade hepatocellular carcinoma and its possible link to apoptosis. Material and methods: Thirty-five cases each of chronic HCV hepatitis type 4 (group I) and cirrhosis with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) complicating chronic HCV hepatitis (groups II and III) were immunohistochemically evaluated using a p21 ras polyclonal antibody. The apoptotic index was determined in histologic sections using the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated d-UTP biotin nick end labeling (TUNEL) assay. Results: Significant differences (P=0.001) were detected in p21 ras protein expression between the three groups. A near 2-fold increase in p21 ras staining was observed in the cirrhotic cases compared to the hepatitis cases, and p21 ras expression was decreased in the HCC group. p21 ras expression correlated with stage (r=0.64, P=0.001) and grade (r=-0.65, P=0.001) in the HCC group and grade in the HCV group (r=0.44, P=0.008). Both p21 ras expression and TUNEL-LI were significantly lower in large HCCs compared to small HCCs (P=0.01 each). The TUNEL values were negatively correlated with stage in the HCC group (r=-0.85, P=0.001). The TUNEL values were also negatively correlated with grade in both the HCV and HCC groups (r=0.89, P=0.001 and r=-0.53, P=0.001, respectively). The p21 ras scores were significantly correlated with the TUNEL-LI values in the HCC group (r=0.63, P=0.001) and HCV group (r=0.88, P=0.001). | 3 | The oncofetal protein IMP3 is an indicator of early recurrence and poor outcome in mucoepidermoid carcinoma of salivary glands显示文摘Objective: Mucoepidermoid carcinoma(MEC) is the most common primary malignancy of the salivary glands. Insulin-like growth factor-II m RNA-binding protein-3(IMP3) is an important prognostic factor in some cancers and a tool that differentiates between benign and malignant pancreatic lesions. This study aimed to identify a relationship between the expression of IMP3 and the outcome of salivary gland MEC, as well as to differentiate MEC from pleomorphic adenoma(PA).Methods: Tissue specimens from 70 cases of salivary gland MEC, 40 cases of PA, and 10 cases with normal salivary gland were examined immunohistochemically for IMP3. The association among the expression of IMP3, clinicopathological characteristics and patient's survival was assessed.Results: IMP3 was present in 51.4% of MEC but absent in PA and normal salivary gland tissues. IMP3 expression was associated with age > 60 years, submandibular gland tumors, tumor size > 4 cm, high-grade tumors, lymph node metastasis, involvement of surgical margins, perineural invasion, distant metastasis, advanced TNM stage, tumor relapse, and death(P<0.05). Increased expression of IMP3, tumors of the submandibular gland, and lymph node metastasis were independent prognostic factors of disease-free survival(DFS). In addition, IMP3 was a strong predictor of overall survival(OS) together with distant metastasis and intermediate and high-grade tumors.Conclusions: IMP3 expression is highly important in evaluating the outcome of MEC. | 4 | Evaluation of the microstructure,thermal and mechanical properties of Cu/SiC nanocomposites fabricated by mechanical alloying显示文摘Nano-sized silicon carbide(SiC:0wt%,1wt%,2wt%,4wt%,and 8wt%)reinforced copper(Cu)matrix nanocomposites were manufactured,pressed,and sintered at 775 and 875℃in an argon atmosphere.X-ray diffraction(XRD)and scanning electron microscopy were performed to characterize the microstructural evolution.The density,thermal expansion,mechanical,and electrical properties were studied.XRD analyses showed that with increasing SiC content,the microstrain and dislocation density increased,while the crystal size decreased.The coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE)of the nanocomposites was less than that of the Cu matrix.The improvement in the CTE with increasing sintering temperature may be because of densification of the microstructure.Moreover,the mechanical properties of these nanocomposites showed noticeable enhancements with the addition of SiC and sintering temperatures,where the microhardness and apparent strengthening efficiency of nanocomposites containing 8wt%SiC and sintered at 875℃were 958.7 MPa and 1.07 vol%^(−1),respectively.The electrical conductivity of the sample slightly decreased with additional SiC and increased with sintering temperature.The prepared Cu/SiC nanocomposites possessed good electrical conductivity,high thermal stability,and excellent mechanical properties. | Essam B.Moustafa Mohammed A.Taha | 2021 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2021，28，3： | 4 |
| 5 | Improvement of visual acuity based on optical coherence tomography patterns following intravitreal bevacizumab treatment in patients with diabetic macular edema显示文摘AIM:To report the visual outcome based on various patterns of optical coherence tomography(OCT)morphology in diabetic macular edema(DME),following treatment with anti-VEGF intravitreal bevacizumab(IVB)injection.METHODS:Sixty-seven consecutive subjects with centre involving DME underwent intravitreal injection of bevacizumab(1.25 mg/0.05 mL)in this retrospective,comparative,non randomized study.The DME was classified into one of four categories:focal,diffuse,focal cystoid and neurosensory detachment based on OCT.Best corrected visual acuity(BCVA),macular appearance,and OCT findings were used to decide whether the subject should have a repeat injection of intravitreal bevacizumab.Outcome measures were a change in mean BCVA(Snellen converted to logMAR)and central macular thickness(CMT)in each group during the six month follow-up period.RESULTS:The mean BCVA improved to logMAR 0.23at final follow-up from a baseline of 0.32 logMAR(P=0.040)in the focal group,logMAR 0.80 at final follow-up from a baseline of 0.82 logMAR(P=0.838)in the diffuse group,worsened to logMAR 0.53 at final follow-up from a baseline of 0.43 logMAR(P=0.276)in the focal cystoid group,and improved to logMAR 0.79 at final follow-up from a baseline of 0.93 logMAR(P=0.490)in the neurosensory detachment group.The mean CMT before treatment were 298.8±25.03μm in the focal group,310.8±40.6μm in the diffuse group,397.15±31.05μm in the focalcystoid group and 401.03±75.1μm in the neurosensory detachment group.A mean of 2.05(range:1-5)injections in the focal group,1.32(range:1-2)in the diffuse group,2.6(range:1-6)in the focal cystoid group and 2.6(range:1-6)in the neurosensory detachment group were performed during the six month follow-up period.Following intravitreal bevacizumab treatment,vision improved,remained unchanged or worsened in 11,7 and2 subjects in focal group;11,9 and 8 in diffuse group;0,2 and 4 in focal cystoid group and 5,5 and 3 subjects respectively in neurosensory detachment group.CONCLUSION:OCT morpholgy patterns in DME may predict the effects of intravitreal bevacizumab treatment,and patients with focal DME are most likely to benefit from the improvent of visual acuity from this treatment. | Haider R.Cheema Ahmed Al Habash Essam Al-Askar | 2014 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2014，7，2： | 3 |
| 6 | Case of hepatocellular carcinoma in a patient with hereditary tyrosinemia in the post-newborn screening era显示文摘Hereditary tyrosinemia type 1(HT-1) is a metabolic disorder caused by a defect in tyrosine degradation. Without treatment, symptoms of hepatomegaly, renal tubular dysfunction, growth failure, neurologic crises resembling porphyrias, rickets and possible hepatocellular carcinoma can develop. The use of 2-(2-nitro-4-trifluoromethylbenzoyl)-1,3-cyclohexanedione and early diagnosis through newborn screening initiatives have resulted in a sharp decline in morbidity and mortality associated with this disease. We present a case report of a 7-year-old patient with HT-1 who was born prior to the addition of tyrosinemia to the newborn screening in her birth area. At her time of diagnosis, the patient had developed many of the symptoms associated with her disease, including chronic kidney disease, rickets, and myopathy that left her non-ambulatory. During her initial evaluation, she was also noted to have hepatocellular carcinoma. With cadaveric liver transplantation and nutritional support, her symptoms all either resolved or stabilized. | 13 | Advances and challenges in the differentiation of pluripotent stem cells into pancreatic β cells显示文摘Pluripotent stem cells(PSCs) are able to differentiate into several cell types, including pancreatic β cells. Differentiation of pancreatic β cells depends on certain transcription factors, which function in a coordinated way during pancreas development. The existing protocols for in vitro differentiation produce pancreatic β cells, which are not highly responsive to glucose stimulation except after their transplantation into immune-compromised mice and allowing several weeks for further differentiation to ensure the maturation of these cells in vivo. Thus, although the substantial improvement that has been made for the differentiation of induced PSCs and embryonic stem cells toward pancreatic β cells, several challenges still hindering their full generation.
