Bi-metallic catalysts of mesoporous Al_2O_3 supported on Fe, Ni and Mn for methane decomposition: Effect of activation temperature显示文摘Methane decomposition reaction has been studied at three different activation temperatures(500°C,800°C and950°C)over mesoporous alumina supported Ni–Fe and Mn–Fe based bimetallic catalysts. On co-impregnation of Ni on Fe/Al_2O_3the activity of the catalyst was retained even at the high activation temperature at 950°C and up to180 min.The Ni promotion enhanced the reducibility of Fe/Al_2O_3oxides showing higher catalytic activity with a hydrogen yield of 69%.The reactivity of bimetallic Mn and Fe over Al_2O_3catalyst decreased at 800°C and 950°C activation temperatures.Regeneration studies revealed that the catalyst could be effectively recycled up to 9times.The addition of O_2(1 ml,2 ml,4 ml)in the feed enhanced substantially CH_4conversion,the yield of hydrogen and the stability of the catalyst. | Anis H.Fakeeha Ahmed S.Al-Fatesh Biswajit Chowdhury Ahmed A.Ibrahim Wasim U.Khan Shahid Hassan Kasim Sasudeen Ahmed Elhag Abasaeed | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2018,26,9: | 3
Critical review of radio-frequency(RF)heating applications in food processing显示文摘Conventional thermal treatment in food processing relies on the transfer of heat by conduction and convection. One alternative to this conventional thermal treatment is radio-frequency(RF)heating in which electromagnetic energy is transferred directly to the heated product. The longer wavelengths of RF compared with microwaves are able to penetrate further into the food products resulting in more even heating.A review of RF heating for the food processing industry is presented here with an emphasis on scientific principles and the advantages and applications of RF.Applications of RF heating include blanching, thawing, drying, and processing of foods.RF heating represents considerable potential for additional research and the transfer of technology to the food processing industry.Computer simulation can be used to improve RF heating uniformity. Moreover, the heating uniformity in the rotated eggs is greater than in the static eggs.RF has also been used to blanch vegetables to increase ascorbic acid content to achieve the highest vitamin C levels. The use of the thawing technology has resulted in better quality of treated food. There has been increased interest in the RF-drying method due to the homogeneity of heating, greater penetration depth, and more stable control of the product temperature.RF-treated meat had improved quality and coagulation with acceptable taste and appearance. In addition,RF heating is used in pasteurization of yogurt and destruction of microorganisms in liquid and solid foods. | Ammar Altemimi Salah Naji Aziz Asaad R.S.Al-HiIphy Naoufal Lakhssassi Dennis G.Watson Salam A.Ibrahim | 2019 | Food Quality and Safety2019,3,2: | 2
Quasi-likelihood techniques in a logistic regression equation for identifying Simulium damnosum s.l.larval habitats intra-cluster covariates in Togo显示文摘The standard methods for regression analyses of clustered riverine larval habitat data of Simulium damnosum s.l.a major black-fly vector of onchoceriasis, postulate models relating observational ecological-sampled parameter estimators to prolific habitats without accounting for residual intra-cluster error correlation effects.Generally, this correlation comes from two sources:(1)the design of the random effects and their assumed covariance from the multiple levels within the regression model and(2)the correlation structure of the residuals.Unfortunately, inconspicuous errors in residual intracluster correlation estimates can overstate precision in forecasted S.damnosum s.l.riverine larval habitat explanatory attributes regardless how they are treated(e.g.independent,autoregressive,Toeplitz,etc.).In this research, the geographical locations for multiple riverine-based S.damnosum s.l.larval ecosystem habitats sampled from two preestablished epidemiological sites in Togo were identified and recorded from July 2009 to June 2010.Initially,the data were aggregated into PROC GENMOD.An agglomerative hierarchical residual cluster-based analysis was then performed. The sampled clustered study site data was then analyzed for statistical correlations using monthly biting rates(MBR).Euclidean distance measurements and terrain-related geomorphological statistics were then generated in ArcGIS.A digital overlay was then performed also in ArcGIS using the georeferenced ground coordinates of high and low density clusters stratified by annual biting rates(ABR).The data was overlain onto multitemporal sub-meter pixel resolution satellite data(i.e.QuickBird 0.61m wavbands).Orthogonal spatial filter eigenvectors were then generated in SAS/Geographic Information Systems(GIS).Univariate and nonlinear regression-based models(i.e.logistic,Poisson,and negative binomial)were also employed to determine probability distributions and to identify statistically significant parameter estimators from the sampled data.Thereafter,Durbin–Watson statistics were used to test the null hypothesis that the regression residuals were not autocorrelated against the alternative that the residuals followed an autoregressive process in AUTOREG.Bayesian uncertainty matrices were also constructed employing normal priors for each of the sampled estimators in PROC MCMC.The residuals revealed both spatially structured and unstructured error effects in the high and low ABR-stratified clusters. The analyses also revealed that the estimators, levels of turbidity, and presence of rocks were statistically significant for the high-ABR-stratified clusters, while the estimators distance between habitats and floating vegetation were important for the low-ABR-stratified cluster.Varying and constant coefficient regression models,ABRstratified GIS-generated clusters,sub-meter resolution satellite imagery,a robust residual intra-cluster diagnostic test,MBR-based histograms, eigendecomposition spatial filter algorithms, and Bayesian matrices can enable accurate autoregressive estimation of latent uncertainity affects and other residual error probabilities(i.e.heteroskedasticity)for testing correlations between georeferenced S.damnosum s.l.riverine larval habitat estimators. The asymptotic distribution of the resulting residual adjusted intra-cluster predictor error autocovariate coefficients can thereafter be established while estimates of the asymptotic variance can lead to the construction of approximate confidence intervals for accurately targeting productive S.damnosum s.l.habitats based on spatiotemporal field-sampled count data. | Benjamin G.JACOB Robert J.NOVAK Laurent TOE Moussa S.SANFO Abena N.AFRIYIE Mohammed A.IBRAHIM Daniel A.GRIFFITH Thomas R.UNNASCH | 2012 | Geo-Spatial Information Science2012,15,2: | 1

Effect of Cooking Methods on the Chemical Compounds Associated with Umami Taste in Duck Breast Meat显示文摘Dry-curing,wet-curing,stewing and marinating are sequential Chinese traditional meat-processing methods dating back thousands of years ago. However, little information is available about the contribution of each processing stage to the umami taste in duck breast meat. Therefore, effects of those meat-processing methods on umami taste related chemical compounds were determined in this study.Dry-curing significantly increased free amino acids, oligopeptides and nucleotides and nucleotides degradation products(P<0.05),however,in the following wet-curing,stewing and marinating stages, the percentages of inosine and hypoxanthine were gradually declined.Electronic tongue and principle component analysis results revealed the difference between dry-cured/wet-cured duck breast meat and marinated/stewed duck breast meat was due to the increase of free amino acids, oligopeptides and inosine monophosphate.Therefore,dry-curing is an important stage in meat processing, not only it produces a pool of taste related compounds,it also stimulates the enzyme activities in the muscle.Meanwhile,in the stewing stage, the umami taste profile of duck breast meat was gradually established. We can conclude that dry-curing and stewing are the two crucial stages to form the umami taste profile in duck breast meat. | Zhao Shuangjuan Feng Xi Huang Zhicheng Duan Changsheng Tang Jixia Lei Xiaoyu Salam A.Ibrahim Liu Ying Huang Wen | 2018 | Journal of Food Science and Engineering2018,8,2: | 1
Flow computations past a triangular boattailed projectile显示文摘This paper presents a computational study of the air flow past a triangular boattailed projectile. The study shows that there is a single normal shock wave impinges the projectile at transonic speeds. At supersonic speeds, the formed shock waves are smeared compared to a conical boattailed projectile. Also, there is a reduction of the wake region behind the triangular base and the rear stagnation point is nearer to the projectile base resulting in base drag reduction. Moreover, there is an improvement of the stability of the triangular boattailed projectile since a lower overturning moment is incurred. | E.Elawwad A.Ibrahim A.Elshabkaa A.Riad | 2020 | Defence Technology(防务技术)2020,16,3: | 1

Synthesis of amyl ester grafted on carbon-nanopolymer composite as an inhibitor for cleaner shale drilling显示文摘Wellbore instability in oil and gas industry well drillings is a significant challenge that is linked to shale swelling when shale interacts with free water molecules in the water-based drilling fluid.Strategic design of environmentally benign, biodegradable, and effective shale hydration inhibitors is a prominent objective of contemporary exploration in well-drilling fluids as a replacement for the common KCl which is detrimental to aquatic lives. This work reports the synthesis and potential of novel green acrylic polymer-amyl ester activated carbon(-C)nanocomposite to hinder shale hydration in formations during drilling. Both less hydrophobic acrylic acid-acrylamide-activated carbon-amyl ester(AA-AAm-C-Amyl)and more hydrophobic acrylic acid-acrylamide-octadecene-activated carbon-amyl ester(AA-AAm-OD-CAmyl)composites were synthesized, characterized, and tested with standard methods as a cleaner fluid additive for shale swelling inhibition, and their results compared with that of KCl.The polymer matrixes displayed remarkable thermal stability. Results also indicate that AA-AAm-C-Amyl and AA-AAm-OD-CAmyl composites could stabilize wellbore effectively with 95.2%and 93.7%anti-swelling ratio, and shale recovery capacity of 97%and 95.2%respectively.The surface evaluation of the composite fluidtreated bentonite revealed that the mechanism of inhibition could be based on the collaborative action of nanopore plugging of carbon core and strong adsorption of the polymer component of the materials on clay surfaces via encapsulation and hydrogen bonding to form an impressive filter cake which could actively prevent water invasion into formation.Hence,AA-AAm-C-Amyl and AA-AAm-OD-C-Amyl composites could be a sustainable substitute for the conventional KCl as a shale inhibitor for welldrilling. | Tawfik A.Saleh Mukaila A.Ibrahim | 2022 | Petroleum2022,8,4: | 1
Effect of graphene addition on the physicomechanical and tribological properties of Cu nanocomposites显示文摘This paper presents an experimental investigation of the mechanical and tribological properties of Cu-graphene nanosheets(GN)nanocomposites. We employed the electroless coating process to coat GNs with Ag particles to avoid its reaction with Cu and the formation of intermetallic phases. We analyzed the effect of GN content on the structural, mechanical, and tribological properties of the produced nanocom-posites.Results showed that the electroless coating process is an efficient technique to avoid the reaction between Cu and C and the formation of intermetallic phases. The addition of GNs significantly improves the mechanical and tribological properties of Cu nanocomposites. However, the addition of GNs needs to be done carefully because, after a certain threshold value, the mechanical and tribological properties are negatively affected. The optimum GN content is determined to be 0.5vol%,at which hardness, wear rate, and coefficient of friction are im-proved by 13%,81.9%,and 49.8%,respectively,compared with Cu nanocomposites. These improved properties are due to the reduced crys-tallite size, presence of GNs,and homogenous distribution of the composite constituents. | Adnan I.Khdair A.Ibrahim | 2022 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2022,29,1: | 1
Model inference using the Akaike information criterion for turbulent flow of non-Newtonian crude oils in pipelines显示文摘The friction factor is a crucial parameter in calculating frictional pressure losses. However, it is a decisive challenge to estimate, especially for turbulent flow of non-Newtonian fluids in pipes. The objective of this paper is to examine the validity of friction factor correlations adopting a new informative-based approach, the Akaike information criterion(AIC) along with the coefficient of determination(R2). Over a wide range of measured data, the results show that each model is accurate when it is examined against a specific dataset while the El-Emam et al.(Oil Gas J 101:74–83, 2003) model proves its superiority. In addition to its simple and explicit form, it covers a wide range of flow behavior indices and generalized Reynolds numbers. It is also shown that the traditional belief that a high R2 means a better model may be misleading. AIC overcomes the shortcomings of R2 as a trade between the complexity of the model and its accuracy not only to find a best approximating model but also to develop statistical inference based on the data. The authors present AIC to initiate an innovative strategy to help alleviate several challenges faced by the professionals in the oil and gas industry. Finally, a detailed discussion and models' ranking according to AIC and R2 is presented showing the numerous advantages of AIC. | Ahmed H.Kamel Ali S.Shaqlaih Essam A.Ibrahim | 2015 | Petroleum Science2015,12,3: | 1
Assessment of ecological risk for heavy metals in surface sediment of an urban river in a developing country显示文摘The speed of increasing threats to the riverine water resources makes it more critical to protect the health of Old Brahmaputra River ecosystems. The current study was done to investigate the concentrations, distributions, sources, and ecological risk of heavy metals in surface sediment from the Old Brahmaputra River,Bangladesh.Samples were collected from seven sites and analyzed with an inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer(ICP-MS).The results showed that mean concentrations(mg/kg)of heavy metals were in the order of nickel(Ni)(44.69)>chromium(Cr)(30.16)>lead(Pb)(19.31)>copper(Cu)(17.84)>cadmium(Cd)(3.94)>arsenic(As)(2.73).The contamination factor(CF),pollution load index(PLI),enrichment factor(EF),and geo-accumulation index(I_(geo))indicated low to moderate contamination.Toxic unit analysis revealed that the studied metals from all stations posed low risk. The sediment of the study river was uncontaminated to moderately contaminated, posing a minimal ecological risk.Cd,Cr,Ni,and Pb originated from anthropogenic sources rather than geogenic sources, and caused the severity of contamination. In this regard,pollutant-based intensive monitoring of heavy metals and holistic ecological risk assessments are required to maintain a sound and healthy aquatic environment in the river. | Md Saiful Islam Md Humayun Kabir Mir Mohammad Ali Md Towhidul Islam Asfia Niger Md Humayun Kabir Zulhilmi Ismail Sujat Ahmed Khalid A.Ibrahim Abubakr M.Idris | 2023 | International Journal of Sediment Research2023,38,6: | 0
Recent developments of lactic acid bacteria and their metabolites on foodborne pathogens and spoilage bacteria:Facts and gaps显示文摘Lactic acid bacteria(LAB)are common microorganisms found in various ecosystems including in plants, fermented foods, and the human body.Exploring the biodiversity of lactic acid microflora and characterization of LAB is a new approach to form a variety of starter communities to create innovative nutritional food matrices. There has been growing interest in LAB isolated from non-dairy environments as these bacteria exhibit significant metabolic diversity and have unique taste-forming activities.Disease may be prevented,or treated by LAB but the treatment of disease conditions with LAB is highly dependent on the host's microbiome and diet and varies in both effectiveness and side effects from individual to individual.Future perspectives on the study of LAB may be related to the expansion of our knowledge in the fields of genetics and genetic engineering. The application of genetic science may help to improve existing strains and develop new strains with characteristics designed for specific purposes. Therefore, the preservative effects of LAB and their metabolites,as well as their interaction on the growth of food borne pathogens and food spoilage microorganisms were elucidated. In addition, the competitive models for microbial growth between LAB and other microorganisms as well as the role of LAB in the elimination of toxic compounds in food products were discussed. Moreover, the review provided an overview of the risks and benefits of using LAB in the food industry. | Hafize Fidan Tuba Esatbeyoglu Vida Simat Monica Trif Giulia Tabanelli Tina Kostka Chiara Montanari Salam A.Ibrahim FatihÖzogul | 2022 | Food Bioscience2022,47,3: | 0

Evaluation of On-Line MPPT Algorithms for PV-Based Battery Storage Systems显示文摘This paper presents a novel Simulink models with an evaluation study of more widely used On-Line Maximum Power Point tracking(MPPT)techniques for Photo-Voltaic based Battery Storage Systems(PV-BSS).To have a full comparative study in terms of the dynamic response, battery state of charge(SOC),and oscillations around the Maximum Power Point(MPP)of the PV-BSS to variations in climate conditions, these techniques are simulated in Matlab/Simulink.The introduced methodologies are classified into two types;the first type is conventional hill-climbing techniques which are based on instantaneous PV data measurements such as Perturb&Observe and Incremental Conductance techniques. The second type is a novel proposed methodology is based on using solar irradiance and cell temperature measurements with pre-build Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS)model to predict DC–DC converter optimum duty cycle to track MPP.Then evaluation study is introduced for conventional and proposed On-Line MPPT techniques. This comparative study can be useful in specifying the appropriateness of the MPPT techniques for PV-BSS.Also the introduced model can be used as a valued reference model for future research related to Soft Computing(SC)MPPT techniques.A significant improvement of SOC is achieved by the proposed model and methodology with high accuracy and lower oscillations. | Belqasem Aljafari Eydhah Almatrafi Sudhakar Babu Thanikanti Sara A.Ibrahim Mohamed A.Enany Marwa M.Ahmed | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,11: | 0
COVID19 Outbreak:A Hierarchical Framework for User Sentiment Analysis显示文摘Social networking sites in the most modernized world are flooded with large data volumes.Extracting the sentiment polarity of important aspects is necessary;as it helps to determine people’s opinions through what they write. The Coronavirus pandemic has invaded the world and been given a mention in the social media on a large scale. In a very short period of time, tweets indicate unpredicted increase of coronavirus. They reflect people’s opinions and thoughts with regard to coronavirus and its impact on society. The research community has been interested in discovering the hidden relationships from short texts such as Twitter and Weiboa;due to their shortness and sparsity. In this paper,a hierarchical twitter sentiment model(HTSM)is proposed to show people’s opinions in short texts. The proposed HTSM has two main features as follows:constructing a hierarchical tree of important aspects from short texts without a predefined hierarchy depth and width,as well as analyzing the extracted opinions to discover the sentiment polarity on those important aspects by applying a valence aware dictionary for sentiment reasoner(VADER)sentiment analysis. The tweets for each extracted important aspect can be categorized as follows:strongly positive, positive, neutral, strongly negative,or negative. The quality of the proposed model is validated by applying it to a popular product and a widespread topic. The results show that the proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art methods used in analyzing people’s opinions in short text effectively. | Ahmed F.Ibrahim M.Hassaballah Abdelmgeid A.Ali Yunyoung Nam Ibrahim A.Ibrahim | 2022 | Computers, Materials & Continua2022,,2: | 0
Chitosan/Nanocrystalline Cellulose Biocomposites Based on Date Palm (Phoenix Dactylifera L.) Sheath Fibers显示文摘In this study, nanocrystalline celluloses were used to enhance physical, mechanical and water vapor barrier properties of chitosan films for potential food packaging applications. Two different mineral acids(sulfuric and phosphoric)were used to extract nanocrystalline cellulose from date palm sheath fibers. The influence of cellulose I and cellulose II on the properties of the isolated nanocrystalline celluloses(e.g.,yield,energy and length of intra-and intermolecular hydrogen bonds, and degree of substitution)were studied too.The characteristics of chitosan biocomposite film with phosphorylated nanocrystalline cellulose were compared to those with sulfated nanocrystalline cellulose. Results showed that besides cellulose polymorphism, the ionic ester groups on the surface of nanocrystalline cellulose is one of the factors influencing the physical, chemical, mechanical, and water vapor barrier properties in chitosan/nanocrystalline cellulose biocomposites. | Abeer M.Adel Amira M.El-Shafei Atef A.Ibrahim Mona T.Al-Shemy | 2019 | Journal of Renewable Materials2019,7,6: | 0
Preventive role of chamomile fl owers and fennel seeds extracts against liver injury and oxidative stress induced by an immunosuppressant drug in rats显示文摘Aim:The present study was conducted to investigate the protective effect of chamomile fl owers methanolic extract(CFME)and fennel seeds methanolic extract(FSME)on azathioprine(AZA),an immunosuppressant drug, which induced a liver injury and oxidative stress in rats. Methods:Rats were divided into 6 groups(8 rats each)and treated orally for 28 consecutive days as follows.Group 1:rats were given normal saline and used as controls;group 2:rats treated with CFME(200 mg/kg);group 3:rats treated with FSME(200 mg/kg);group 4:rats treated with AZA(25 mg/kg);and groups 5 and 6:rats treated with CFME(200 mg/kg)or FSME(200 mg/kg)15 min prior to AZA(25 mg/kg)treatment.At the end of experimental period, blood and liver samples were collected from all groups for biochemical analysis and histological examination. Results:The obtained data revealed that AZA-induced hepatic injury in the rats as evidenced by the signifi cant increase in serum aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase, cholesterol, and direct bilirubin as well as hepatic malondialdehyde level accompanied with signifi cant decrease in reduced glutathione content and total antioxidant capacity in the liver. Moreover, body weight gain showed the signifi cant decrease and relative liver weight showed the signifi cant increase on AZA treatment. The sequential signifi cant changes in biochemical parameters were accompanied by severe histological changes in the liver tissue, including hepatocytes disorganization with pyknotic nuclei, fatty degeneration, congestion,fi brosis, and bile duct necrosis around the portal tract. The areas of hemorrhages in blood vessels and in between hepatocytes were also seen. However, the results showed the potential hepatoprotective effects of CFME and FSME against AZA-induced liver injury and oxidative stress. They succeeded in restoring the biochemical parameters and improving the histological picture of the liver. This improvement was more pronounced in the rats pretreated with FSME.Conclusion:It could be concluded that CFME and FSME have hepatoprotective potentials against AZA probably due to their antioxidant properties and radical scavenging activity. | Fathia A.Mannaa Nagi A.Ibrahim Soliman S.Ibrahim Khaled G.Abdel-Wahhab Nabila S.Hassan Saida G.Mohammed | 2015 | Hepatoma Research2015,1,1: | 0
