5Modeling and Prediction for the thrust on EPB TBMs under different geological conditions by considering mechanical decoupling显示文摘EPB TBMs(Earth pressure balance Tunneling Boring Machines) are extensively used in tunneling constructions because of its high efficiency and low disturbance on structures above ground. It is critically significant to predict the thrust acting on TBMs under different geological conditions for both the design of power system and the control of tunneling process. The interaction between the cutterhead and the ground is the core of excavation, through which geological conditions determine the thrust re-quirement combined with operating status and structural characteristics. This paper conducted a mechanical decoupling analysis to obtain a basic expression of the cutterhead-ground interactive stress. Then more engineering factors(such as cutterhead topological structure, underground overburden, thrusts on other parts, etc.) were further considered to establish a predicting model for the total thrust acting on a machine during tunneling. 6Investigation of pressure loading rates on streaming potentials in bone显示文摘When load is applied to bone,it deforms and causes fluid pressure to build up in bone.The pressure gradient between different portions of the bone microcnannels drives fluid flow through them.This kind of bone fluid flow can induces the streaming potentials which are considered to play a role for bone remodeling.Aimed to determine the impact of ribbed rough inner surfaces of the microchannels on the streaming potentials,streaming potentials were measured as bone fluid flowed through the mcrospaces of thin cylinder bone samples under different pressure loading rates.The results show that the streaming potentials decrease with the increase of the pressure loading rates.A digital simulation calculation was performed and the results demonstrated that there were turbulent flows near the inner wall surfaces,which making the streaming potentials smaller in bone microchannels.XU LianYun HOU ZhenDe WANG Hong 2011Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,6:4
7Comparison of the Accuracy of Canon KU-1 IOL Measurer and VPLUS A/B Scanner in Axial Length Measurement显示文摘Purpose: To evaluate the accuracy of Canon KU-1 IOL measurer (Japanese Canon Company) and VPLUS A/B scanner (French Quantel Company) in axial length (AL)measurement.Methods:Canon KU-1 IOL measurer and VPLUS A/B scanner were used to measure axial length of human cataractous eyes before cataract surgery. Two hundred and twentytwo cases (433 eyes) were involved. The results were compared and the postoperative visual acuity, refractive results were recorded during the follow-ups to evaluate the accuracy of the two instruments.Results:In the 222 cases (433 eyes), the absolute value of the measurement differences was 0.4 mm or above in 35 eyes, 0.8 mm or above in 17 eyes, 1.2 mm or above in 12 eyes,2.0mm or above in 5 eyes. The refractive error was less than 2.0D in all patients. The mean values of ocular axial length by the two methods were 23.82 mm and 23.83 mm respectively and the difference had no statistic significance with compared t test ( P=0.902, two tail, or=0.01).Conclusion:The accurate AL measurements can be obtained with the two instruments and the measurement results should be analyzed comprehensively to obtain accurate values in the complicated cases.Chuyin Chen, Zhende Lin, Bo Feng, Yonghua Li Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou 510060, China 2003Eye Science2003,19,3:3
8The effect of carbon nanotubes on osteogenic functions of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells in vitro and bone formation in vivo compared with that of nano-hydroxyapatite and the possible mechanism显示文摘It has been well recognized that the development and use of artificial materials with high osteogenic ability is one of the most promising means to replace bone grafting that has exhibited various negative effects.The biomimetic features and unique physiochemical properties of nanomaterials play important roles in stimulating cellular functions and guiding tissue regeneration.But efficacy degree of some nanomaterials to promote specific tissue formation is still not clear.We hereby comparatively studied the osteogenic ability of our treated multiwalled carbon nanotubes(MCNTs)and the main inorganic mineral component of natural bone,nano-hydroxyapatite(nHA)in the same system,and tried to tell the related mechanism.In vitro culture of human adiposederived mesenchymal stem cells(HASCs)on the MCNTs and nHA demonstrated that although there was no significant difference in the cell adhesion amount between on the MCNTs and nHA,the cell attachment strength and proliferation on the MCNTs were better.Most importantly,the MCNTs could induce osteogenic differentiation of the HASCs better than the nHA,the possible mechanism of which was found to be that the MCNTs could activate Notch involved signaling pathways by concentrating more proteins,including specific bone-inducing ones.Moreover,the MCNTs could induce ectopic bone formation in vivo while the nHA could not,which might be because MCNTs could stimulate inducible cells in tissues to form inductive bone better than nHA by concentrating more proteins including specific bone-inducing ones secreted from M2 macrophages.Therefore,MCNTs might be more effective materials for accelerating bone formation even than nHA.Zhipo Du Xinxing Feng Guangxiu Cao Zhending She Rongwei Tan Katerina E.Aifantis Ruihong Zhang Xiaoming Li 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,2:3
9Efficacy of Phacovitrectomy Combined with Internal Limiting Membrane Peeling for Macular Diseases显示文摘Purpose:To observe the efficacy of vitrectomy with internal limiting membrane.(ILM) peeling combined with phacoemulsification with intraocular lens.(IOL) implantation in the treatment of cataract with co-existing macular diseases.Methods:A total of 28 cataract patients (28 eyes) with coexisting macular diseases were admitted to Aier Eye Hospital between May 2008 and May 2011.The clinical characteristics were analyzed in this study.Subjects included 6 men and 22 women,aged from 56 to 77 years (mean 64 years),with duration of disease ranging from 2 to 36 months (mean 9.3 months).All patients underwent phacoemulsification with implantation of a hydrophobic acrylic IOL into the capsular bag and pars plana vitrectomy with ILM peeling.Results:Postoperatively,patients underwent 3-to 18-months of follow-up.(mean 7.2 months).Only one eye had macular hole failing to close.Normal macular structure was restored in the other 27 eyes.The presenting visual acuity and best corrected visual acuity.(BCVA) did not differ significantly (t =-1.724,P =0.096),with the BCVA in 27 eyes.(96.4%).improving by 2 lines or more.The improvement in minimum angle of resolution.(MAR).was > 0.3 in 21 eyes,≥0.1 in 6 eyes and<0.1 in 1 eye.The mean spherical equivalent.(SE) was-4.67±5.98D preoperatively and-0.38±0.69D postoperatively (t=4.157,P<0.005).Conclusion:Combined phacovitrectomy surgery is a reliable and safe procedure in the treatment of cataract complicated by macular disease.Zheming Wu Jinglin Zhang Yun Chen Rulong Gao Zhende Lin 2012Eye Science2012,27,1:3
10Further geological and palaeoanthropological investigations at the Maludong hominin site, Yunnan Province, Southwest China显示文摘Three-dimensional mapping and section work undertaken by us in 2008 have identified 11 stratigraphic units at Maludong site.AMS radiocarbon dating of charcoal established an accurate and internally consistent age profile for the sequence of 17.8±0.2 ka to 13.2±0.1 ka.Archaeomagnetic analysis showed changes in externally derived pedogenically enhanced material consistent with a warming in climate between the cold period of Henrich Event 1 and the B lling-Aller d interstadial.Human remains recovered during the 1989 excavation were derived from a deposit dating to this interstadial,or between 14.3±0.3 ka and 13.5±0.1 ka.Anthropogenic features,including burnt rocks,baked sediment and thick charcoal and ash layers,were identified and examined through archaeomagnetic analysis.Two monkey fossils are described here,one of them being reassigned from Macaca robustus to M.aff.M.assamensis.They confirm the young age of the site and also show signs of anthropogenic alteration in the form of burning.Additional human cranial remains are reported for the first time and new data are provided for some specimens described previously.A range of new features is identified that strengthen the affinities of the Maludong remains to archaic humans.The presence of this globally unique mosaic of archaic and modern features raises important questions about human evolutionary history in East Asia during the Late Upper Pleistocene.JI XuePing CURNOE Darren BAO ZhenDe HERRIES Andy I R FINK David ZHU YunSheng HELLSTROM John LUO Yun TACON Paul S C 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,35:3
11Antioxidant Effects of Dehydroepiandrosterone Are Related to Up-regulation of Thioredoxin in SH-SY5Y Cells显示文摘Neuroprotective effects of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) have been shown to be associated with its antioxidant properties, but the mechanisms remain unknown. Considering that the thioredoxin (Trx)system, an important cellular redox modulation system, changes under oxidative stress and could exert protective effects, the relationship between the antioxidant effects of DHEA and the Trx system regulation was explored. Using MTT assay and morphological observation, the effects of DHEA in the model of H2O2-induced oxidative stress in SH-SY5Y cells were analyzed, then RT-PCR and Western blot assay were used to detect the alteration in mRNA and protein level of Trx. The results showed that a pre-treatment of DHEA (10-100 nM) protected cells against the toxicity induced by H2O2 in a dose-dependent manner, which could be confirmed in morphological observation by phase-contract microscope. In addition, Trx mRNA transcription was inhibited by H2O2 (300 μM), which could be reversed by the pre-administration of DHEA in various concentrations (0.1-100nM).
