| 1 | Does the Domestic Value Added Induced by China's Exports Really Belong to China?显示文摘Since 2001,the exports of foreign-invested enterprises(FIEs) have accounted for more than 50 percent of China’s total exports.As foreign capital occupies a high proportion of the total capital of FIEs,most FIEs’ capital gains are foreign factor income.Although these gains are calculated as a part of China’s GDP,they do not belong to China’s national income.To determine the real contribution of exports to China’s welfare,the present paper analyses the impact of exports on China’s national income using a non-competitive input-output model capturing processing trade.The results show that every US$1000 of China ’s exports generates US$506.8 of national income.The real contribution of exports to China’s welfare is much smaller than what we expected.This suggests that China should endeavor to improve the gains from international markets or find another engine to maintain its economic growth. | Yuwan Duan Cuihong Yang Kunfu Zhu Xikang Chen | 2012 | China & World Economy2012,20,5: | 8 |

| 3 | Raising the production of phloretin by alleviation of by-product of chalcone synthase in the engineered yeast显示文摘Phloretin is an important skin-lightening and depigmenting agent from the peel of apples. Although de novo production of phloretin has been realized in microbes using the natural pathway from plants, the efficiency of phloretin production is still not enough for industrial application. Here, we established an artificial pathway in the yeast to produce phloretin via assembling two genes of p-coumaroyl-CoA ligase(4CL) and chalcone synthase(CHS). CHS is a key enzyme which conventionally condenses a CoA-tethered starter with three molecules of malonyl-CoA to form the backbone of flavonoids. However, there was 33% of byproduct generated via CHS by condensing two molecules of malonyl-CoA during the fermentation process. Hence, we introduced a more efficient CHS and improved the supply of malonyl-CoA through two pathways;the by-product ratio was decreased from 33% to 17% and the production of phloretin was improved from 48 to 83.2 mg L^(-1). Finally, a fed-batch fermentation process was optimized and the production of phloretin reached 619.5 mg L^(-1), which was 14-fold higher than that of the previous studies. | 4 | Comparative study on microstructure of β-Ni(OH)_(2) as cathode material for Ni-MH battery显示文摘Microstructures such as micro-strain, crystallite as well as stacking faults can result in broadening of X-ray diffraction lines. Based on least square principle, new com- putation method and programs, which can separate the two-fold broadening effect caused by crystallite/stacking faults and which can separate the three-fold broadening effect caused by crystallite/residual stress/stacking faults, have been proposed. As a result, mi- cro-strain and crystallite sizes as well as stacking fault probability can be calculated re- spectively and investigated in detail. Then the microstructures of β-Ni(OH)2 are investi- gated by means of these methods. The main results are as follows: 1) The shape and size of crystallite as well as stacking fault probability of raw β-Ni(OH)2 are dependent on its preparation technique. 2) Activation changes the microstructure of β-Ni(OH)2. It transforms the crystallite shape from short-fat cylinder into polyhedrons or nearly equiaxial grains. Activation also alters the residual strain states and stacking fault probability. 3) After charge-discharge and cycle-lifetime testing, the crystallites of β-Ni(OH)2 are fined further and its residual strain and fault probability were alternated.
