| 1 | Comparison of the Accuracy of Canon KU-1 IOL Measurer and VPLUS A/B Scanner in Axial Length Measurement显示文摘Purpose: To evaluate the accuracy of Canon KU-1 IOL measurer (Japanese Canon Company) and VPLUS A/B scanner (French Quantel Company) in axial length (AL)measurement.Methods:Canon KU-1 IOL measurer and VPLUS A/B scanner were used to measure axial length of human cataractous eyes before cataract surgery. Two hundred and twentytwo cases (433 eyes) were involved. The results were compared and the postoperative visual acuity, refractive results were recorded during the follow-ups to evaluate the accuracy of the two instruments.Results:In the 222 cases (433 eyes), the absolute value of the measurement differences was 0.4 mm or above in 35 eyes, 0.8 mm or above in 17 eyes, 1.2 mm or above in 12 eyes,2.0mm or above in 5 eyes. The refractive error was less than 2.0D in all patients. | 2 | Efficacy of Phacovitrectomy Combined with Internal Limiting Membrane Peeling for Macular Diseases显示文摘Purpose:To observe the efficacy of vitrectomy with internal limiting membrane.(ILM) peeling combined with phacoemulsification with intraocular lens.(IOL) implantation in the treatment of cataract with co-existing macular diseases.Methods:A total of 28 cataract patients (28 eyes) with coexisting macular diseases were admitted to Aier Eye Hospital between May 2008 and May 2011.The clinical characteristics were analyzed in this study.Subjects included 6 men and 22 women,aged from 56 to 77 years (mean 64 years),with duration of disease ranging from 2 to 36 months (mean 9.3 months).All patients underwent phacoemulsification with implantation of a hydrophobic acrylic IOL into the capsular bag and pars plana vitrectomy with ILM peeling.Results:Postoperatively,patients underwent 3-to 18-months of follow-up.(mean 7.2 months).Only one eye had macular hole failing to close.Normal macular structure was restored in the other 27 eyes.The presenting visual acuity and best corrected visual acuity.(BCVA) did not differ significantly (t =-1.724,P =0.096),with the BCVA in 27 eyes.(96.4%).improving by 2 lines or more.The improvement in minimum angle of resolution.(MAR).was > 0.3 in 21 eyes,≥0.1 in 6 eyes and<0.1 in 1 eye.The mean spherical equivalent.(SE) was-4.67±5.98D preoperatively and-0.38±0.69D postoperatively (t=4.157,P<0.005).Conclusion:Combined phacovitrectomy surgery is a reliable and safe procedure in the treatment of cataract complicated by macular disease. | Zheming Wu Jinglin Zhang Yun Chen Rulong Gao Zhende Lin | 2012 | Eye Science2012,27,1: | 3 |
| 3 | Stereopsis after Implantation of Intraocular Lens in Patients under 40 Years Old with Unilateral Cataract显示文摘Purpose:.To investigate the stereopsis after single focus intraocular lens (SIOL) implantation in patients aged < 40 years with unilateral cataract. Methods: In total, 36 patients (36 eyes) were divided into emmetropia and myopia groups. Twenty seven subjects with good uncorrected distance visual acuity (UCDVA) after surgery were enrolled in the emmetropia group..The myopia group consisted of 9 subjects whose one eye had mild myopia postoperatively and the other was emmetropic or myopic. Visual acuity,.distance and near stereoacuity were measured post-operatively. Results:.In the emmetropia group,.uncorrected near visual acuity (UCNVA) did not differ significantly between eyes (t=1.87,P>0.05)..The LogMAR UCNVA of the operated and fellow eyes were (0.71±0.12) and (-0.05±0.07, t=28.4,P< 0.001) respectively..Distance stereoacuity was 60';.the near stereoacuity with uncorrected visual acuity and BCNVA in the operated eyes were 200' and 30' respectively (Z=-4.121,P< 0.001). In the myopia group,.the BCDVA did not differ significantly between the operated and fellow eyes (t=-0.636,P > 0.05)..The UCNVA of the operated eyes (0.18±0.12) was significantly better compared with that of the fellow eyes(-0.04±0.10,.t=4.2252,.P<0.001)..The distance stereoacuity with uncorrected visual acuity and BCDVA in the operated eyes were 200' and 60' respectively (Z =-2.371,P<0.05). The near stereoacuity with uncorrected visual acuity was 50'. | 4 | Comparison of Trans-scleral Fixation of PMMA and Foldable Intraocular Lens in Children显示文摘Purpose: To observe the difference of the effects of PMMA and foldable intraocular lenses (IOLs) trans-sclerally fixed in pediatric eyes.
Methods: Thirty-two children (43 eyes) who had undergone trans-scleral fixation of IOL were retrospected, of whom 5 children were implanted PMMA IOL in both eyes, 6children were implanted PMMA IOL in one eye and foldable IOL in the other eye, 12children were implanted foldable IOL in one eye and 9 chilrden were implanted PMMA IOL in one eye. Mean age was 5.3 years ( range 2.5 ~ 12 years ). Twelve children had traumatic cataract and the others congenital cataract before lens extraction.
Results: Foldable group (18 eyes ): Mean follow-up was 12.1 months. Visual acuity (VA): compared with the best corrected VA before IOL fixation, postoperative best corrected VA improved in 16 eyes, remained unchanged in 2 eyes. In 14 eyes, one or two stitches were needed to seal the incision. Complications: Severe anterior chamber reaction was seen in 3 eyes. Intraocular bleeding was found in 3 eyes. IOL decentration was detected in 1 eye. Iris capture of IOL was seen in one eye. PMMA group (25 eyes ):Mean follow-up was 20.3 months. Visual acuity (VA): compared with the best corrected VA before IOL fixation, postoperative best corrected VA improved in 19 eyes,remained unchanged in 5 eyes and got worse in one eye. In 24 eyes, one to three stitches were needed to seal the incision. Complications: Severe anterior chamber reaction was seen in 5 eyes. Intraocular bleeding was found in 4 eyes. IOL decentration was seen in one eye. Iris capture of IOL was seen in 3 eyes. Intraocular pressure elevated in one eye.
Conclusion: Our study shows that trans-scleral fixation of IOL is a safe procedure in pediatric eyes. Foldable IOL showed similar effect compared with PMMA IOL in pediatric trans-scleral fixation. | 5 | Non-trans-scleral Suture Fixation of Posterior Chamber Intraocular Lenses in the Absence of Posterior Capsular Support显示文摘Purpose: To develop a new technique for fixation of posterior chamber intraocular lens (IOL) in the absence of posterior capsule support.Materials and Methods: We performed non-trans-scleral fixation of intraocular lenses on 24 cases (24 eyes) without posterior capsule support. Two scleral flaps with limbal incisions and two peripheral iridectomies were made at 1 o' clock and 7 o' clock positions respectively. A suture-leading needle was used to lead the prolene suture from the limbal incision and iridectomy on one side through the iridectomy and limbal incision on the other side. Intraocular lens (IOL) was then fixed in the ciliary sulcus. Results: After a mean follow-up of 6. 6 months (range from 3 to 14 months), corrected visual acuity of 16 cases (16 eyes,66. 7% ) got 0.5 or better. Postoperative complications included discoria (4 eyes) , surface membrane formation ( 1 eye ), choroidal detachment (1 eye) and tilt of IOL (1 eyes),but all were not severe. | 9 | The Preliminary Clinical Observation of Array Multifocal Intraocular Lens Implantation显示文摘Purpose : To evaluate the clinical effects of implantation of Array multifocal intraocular lenses.Methods : Thirty-one cases (37 eyes) of cataract patients, including 15 males(19 eyes)and 16 females(18 eyes), were involved in this study. All patients underwent standard phacoemulsification with Array multifocal intraocular lens implantation. The complications during operation, postoperative distant visual acuity, near visual acuity,corneal curvature and visual symptoms were observed.Results : the mean value of best postoperative visual acuity was recorded as follows: uncorrected distant visual acuity was 0. 8, the best-corrected distant visual acuity was 0.9, uncorrected near visual acuity was 0. 5, near visual acuity with distant-corrected was 0.6, the best-corrected near visual acuity wss 0.9. The astigmatism of cornea was less than 1.5 D pre-operatively and post-operatively. One patient complained of glare. | 10 | Effect of Cataract Surgery on Ocular Axial Length Elongation in Young Children显示文摘Purpose: To evaluate the influence of cataract surgery on eyes of children between 1-5 years old.Materials and Methods : Forty- seven cases of pediatric cataract, including 31 cases of bilateral congenital cataract and 16 cases of unilateral posttraumatic cataract, were retrospected. Of the 31 cases of congenital cataract, 19 cases (group l) had undergone cataract extraction with intraocular lens(IOL) implantation, 12 (group 2) had undergone cataract extraction without IOL implantation. Each of them had their two eyes operated seperately at an interval of 1 year or longer. Of the 16 cases of posttraumatic catatract,6 (group 3) had undergone cataract extraction with IOL implantation and 10 (group 4) had undergone cataract extraction without IOL implantation.
