| 1 | Modeling the distribution of Populus euphratica in the Heihe River Basin, an inland river basin in an arid region of China显示文摘Populus euphratica is a dominant tree species in riparian Tugai forests and forms a natural barrier that maintains the stability of local oases in arid inland river basins. Despite being critical information for local environmental protection and recovery, establishing the specific spatial distribution of P. euphratica has rarely been attempted via precise and reliable species distribution models in such areas. In this research, the potential geographic distribution of P. euphratica in the Heihe River Basin was simulated with MaxEnt software based on species occurrence data and 29 environmental variables. The result showed that in the Heihe River Basin, 820 km^2 of land primarily distributed along the banks of the lower reaches of the river is a suitable habitat for P. euphratica. We built other MaxEnt models based on different environmental variables and another eight models employing different mathematical algorithms based on the same 29 environmental variables to demonstrate the superiority of this method.MaxEnt based on 29 environmental variables performed the best among these models, as it precisely described the essential characteristics of the distribution of P. euphratica forest land. This study verified that MaxEnt can serve as an effective tool for species distribution in extremely arid regions with sufficient and reliable environmental variables. The results suggest that there may be a larger area of P. euphratica forest distribution in the study area and that ecological conservation and management of P.euphratica should prioritize suitable habitat. | 3 | Chemical Mechanical Polishing of Glass Substrate with α-Alumina-g-Polystyrene Sulfonic Acid Composite Abrasive显示文摘Abrasive is the one of key influencing factors during chemical mechanical polishing(CMP) process. Currently, α-Alumina (α-Al2O3) particle, as a kind of abrasive, has been widely used in CMP slurries, but their high hardness and poor dispersion stability often lead to more surface defects. After being polished with composite particles, the surface defects of work pieces decrease obviously. So the composite particles as abrasives in slurry have been paid more attention. In order to reduce defect caused by pure α-Al2O3 abrasive, α-alumina-g-polystyrene sulfonic acid (α-Al2O3-g-PSS) composite abrasive was prepared by surface graft polymerization. The composition, structure and morphology of the product were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectroscopy(TOF-SIMS), and scanning electron microscopy(SEM), respectively. The results show that polystyrene sulfonic acid grafts onto α-Al2O3, and has well dispersibility. Then, the chemical mechanical polishing performances of the composite abrasive on glass substrate were investigated with a SPEEDFAM-16B-4M CMP machine. Atomic force microscopy(AFM) images indicate that the average roughness of the polished glass substrate surface can be decreased from 0.835 nm for pure α-Al2O3 abrasive to 0.583 nm for prepared α-Al2O3-g-PSS core-shell abrasive. | 4 | Phenolic Composition and Antioxidant Capacities of Chinese Local Pummelo Cultivars' Peel显示文摘China is one of the main production areas of pummelo [Citrus grandis(L.) Osbeck.] in the world and has lots of distinctive local cultivars.Systematic research on the detection of phenolics and antioxidant capacity of peels of mature local cultivars pummelo fruits is rare.In the current study,phenolic composition and content in peels(flavedo and albedo) of ten Chinese local pummelo cultivars were determined using Ultraviolet Spectrophotometer and High Performance Liquid Chromatography(HPLC),and their antioxidant capacities were evaluated using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) radicals,ferric reducing antioxidant power(FRAP),and 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6)-sulfonic acid(ABTS)methods in the current study.The research not only provides data that support making full use of the resources of Chinese local pummelo cultivars,but also lays the theoretical basis for research of pummelo fruit nutrition and health values.The results showed that the total phenolic(TP)content in albedo was significantly higher than that in flavedo;on the contrary,the total flavonoid(TF) content was lower in the albedo than in the flavedo.C.grandis ‘Hongxinyou' flavedo contained the highest TP contents,C.grandis ‘Liangpingyou 78-8' flavedo contained the highest TF contents,and C.grandis ‘Guanxi Miyou' albedo contained the highest TP and TF contents.Naringenin,hesperetin,diosmin,and gallic acid were the predominant phenolics in the flavedo,whereas hesperetin,diosmin,rutin,chlorogenic acid,and gallic acid were the primary phenolics in the albedo.The flavedo of C.grandis ‘Yubei Shatianyou' and the albedo of C.grandis ‘Dianjiang Baiyou' had the highest antioxidant potency composite(APC) indexes.Overall,the ‘Yubei Shatianyou' flavedo and the ‘Dianjiang Baiyou' albedo are excellent sources of antioxidants and have the greatest potential value for exploitation and utilization. | Lü Zefang ZHANG Zhao WU Hongmei ZHOU Zhiqin YU Jie | 2016 | Horticultural Plant Journal2016,2,3: | 5 |

| 9 | Coating performance on glutaraldehyde-modified wood显示文摘Scots pine(Pinus sylvestris L.) panels were modified with glutaraldehyde(GA) to various weight percent gains and subsequently coated with several commercial coatings. The drying rate and adhesion of the coatings on the modified wood were measured; the coated/modified woods were exposed outdoors to analyze how the wood modifications influence the coating deterioration. The results showed that GA modification caused an increase in the drying rate of the waterborne coatings, but had no influence on drying of tested solvent-borne coatings. GAmodification did not change the dry adhesion but reduced the wood strength in a pull-off test. Wet adhesion of waterborne coatings was improved, while that of the solvent-borne coatings tended to be somewhat reduced. | 11 | CHARACTERIZATION AND CAUSATION OF RUNOFF AND SEDIMENT VARIATION IN THE JIALINGJIANG RIVER BASIN显示文摘The Jialingjiang River basin is one of the main sediment contributing areas in the upper reaches of the Changjiang River. Great changes have taken place in the runoff and sediment discharge in recent years. Comparing the data of 1991-2003 with the data of 1954-1990, the annual runoff of the Jialingjiang River basin decreased by 23 %, and the suspended sediment transport decreased by 74% or 105 million tons. The main factors affecting the reduction include a decrease in rainfall, sediment detention of hydraulic structures, soil and water conservation activities, sedimentation and sand dredging in the river channel. Thorough investigation and analysis of the contribution of each factor to the sediment decrease at Beibei Station was determined for the first time. The following are the contributing percentages for each factor: a decrease in runoff accounted for 32.9%; soil and water conservation measures accounted for 16.4%; sediment detention of hydraulic structures accounted for 30.5%; sedimentation, river channel sand dredging, and other factors accounted for 20.2%.
