| 1 | Development of a Haploid-Inducer Mediated Genome Editing System for Accelerating Maize Breeding显示文摘Crop breeding aims to generate pure in bred lines with multiple desired traits. Doubled haploid (DH) and genome editing using CRISPR/Cas9 are two powerful game-changing technologies in crop breeding. However, both of them still fall short for rapid generation of pure elite lines with integrated favorable traits. Here, we report the development of a Haploid-Inducer Mediated Genome Editing (IMGE) approach, which utilizes a maize haploid inducer line carrying a CRISPR/Cas9 cassette targeting for a desired agronomic trait to pollinate an elite maize in bred line and to generate genome-edited haploids in the elite maize background. | 2 | Virtual reality training improves balance function显示文摘Virtual reality is a new technology that simulates a three-dimensional virtual world on a computer and enables the generation of visual, audio, and haptic feedback for the full immersion of users. Users can interact with and observe objects in three-dimensional visual space without limitation. At present, virtual reality training has been widely used in rehabilitation therapy for balance dysfunction. This paper summarizes related articles and other articles suggesting that virtual reality training can improve balance dysfunction in patients after neurological diseases. When patients perform virtual reality training, the prefrontal, parietal cortical areas and other motor cortical networks are activated. These activations may be involved in the reconstruction of neurons in the cerebral cortex. Growing evidence from clinical studies reveals that virtual reality training improves the neurological function of patients with spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy and other neurological impairments. | 3 | Mechanism of Kinect-based virtual reality training for motor functional recovery of upper limbs after subacute stroke显示文摘The Kinect-based virtual reality system for the Xbox 360 enables users to control and interact with the game console without the need to touch a game controller,and provides rehabilitation training for stroke patients with lower limb dysfunctions.However,the underlying mechanism remains unclear.In this study,18 healthy subjects and five patients after subacute stroke were included.The five patients were scanned using functional MRI prior to training,3 weeks after training and at a12-week follow-up,and then compared with healthy subjects.The Fugl-Meyer Assessment and Wolf Motor Function Test scores of the hemiplegic upper limbs of stroke patients were significantly increased 3 weeks after training and at the 12-week follow-up.Functional MRI results showed that contralateral primary sensorimotor cortex was activated after Kinect-based virtual reality training in the stroke patients compared with the healthy subjects.Contralateral primary sensorimotor cortex,the bilateral supplementary motor area and the ipsilateral cerebellum were also activated during hand-clenching in all 18 healthy subjects.Our findings indicate that Kinect-based virtual reality training could promote the recovery of upper limb motor function in subacute stroke patients,and brain reorganization by Kinect-based virtual reality training may be linked to the contralateral sensorimotor cortex. | Xiao Bao Yurong Mao Qiang Lin Yunhai Qiu Shaozhen Chen Le Li Ryan S.Cates Shufeng Zhou Dongfeng Huang | 2013 | Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,31: | 15 |

| 6 | Wind power forecasting based on outlier smooth transition autoregressive GARCH model显示文摘The impacts of outlying shocks on wind power time series are explored by considering the outlier effect in the volatility of wind power time series. A novel short term wind power forecasting method based on outlier smooth transition autoregressive(OSTAR) structure is advanced, then, combined with the generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity(GARCH) model, the OSTAR-GARCH model is proposed for wind power forecasting. The proposed model is further generalized to be with fat-tail distribution.Consequently, the mechanisms of regimes against different magnitude of shocks are investigated owing to the outlier effect parameters in the proposed models. Furthermore, the outlier effect is depicted by news impact curve(NIC) and a novel proposed regime switching index(RSI). Case studies based on practical data validate the feasibility of the proposed wind power forecasting method. | 7 | Experimental demonstrations of high-Q superconducting coplanar waveguide resonators显示文摘We successfully designed and fabricated an absorption-type of superconducting coplanar waveguide (CPW) resonators. The resonators are made from a niobium film (about 160 nm thick) on a high-resistance Si substrate, and each resonator is fabricated as a meandered quarter-wavelength transmission line (one end is short to the ground and another end is capacitively coupled to a through feedline). With a vector network analyzer we measured the transmissions of the applied microwave through the resonators at ultra-low temperature. The obtained loaded quality factors are significantly high, i.e. up to ~10 6 . When the temperature increases slowly from the base temperature (20 mK), the resonance frequencies of the resonators are blue shifted and the quality factors are lowered slightly. | 9 | 5-Hydroxymethylome in Circulating Cell-free DNA as A Potential Biomarker for Non-small-cell Lung Cancer显示文摘Non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC), the most common type of lung cancer accounting for 85% of the cases, is often diagnosed at advanced stages owing to the lack of efficient early diagnostic tools. 5-Hydroxymethylcytosine(5 hmC) signatures in circulating cell-free DNA(cfDNA) that carries the cancer-specific epigenetic patterns may represent the valuable biomarkers for discriminating tumor and healthy individuals, and thus could be potentially useful for NSCLC diagnosis. Here,we employed a sensitive and reliable method to map genome-wide 5 hmC in the cfDNA of Chinese NSCLC patients and detected a significant 5 hmC gain in both the gene bodies and promoter regions in the blood samples from tumor patients compared with healthy controls. Specifically, we identified six potential biomarkers from 66 patients and 67 healthy controls(mean decrease accuracy>3.2, P < 3.68E-19) using machine-learning-based tumor classifiers with high accuracy. | 19 | Mechanical properties and finite element analysis of walnut under different cracking parts显示文摘In order to reduce mechanical damage and improve extraction quality of walnut kernel during walnut cracking,the Wen-185 walnut cultivar was selected as the research object,and the mechanical properties of walnut under different cracking parts were assessed by combining compression tests and finite element analysis(FEA)method.The compression test results showed that the relationships between rupture force and deformation of walnut were nonlinear,and the cracking process of shell mainly consisted of three stages(elastic stage,plastic stage and composite elastic-plastic stage).The best method to crack walnut was the spherical compression,and the peak value of rupture force and corresponding deformation were 211.83 N and 1.68 mm,respectively.In condition of spherical compression,the shell-breaking rate,first-grade kernel rate and whole kernel rate were(91.67±2.89)%,(88.33±2.89)%,(80.00±5.00)%,respectively.The FEA results indicated that spherical compression was also the suitable way to rupture walnut,which resulted in the obvious propagation trends of shell cracks and further a better integrity of extracting walnut kernel.Therefore,the spherical contact form between walnut and cracking parts may be considered to design the structural shape of key components of walnut cracking machines,which was consistent with the analysis of compression test results.The comparison between experiment results and FEA results showed that the established FEA model can be used to analyze the mechanical properties of walnut.The research results can provide references for the structural design and optimization of key components of cracking machines for walnut or other nut crops. | Hong Zhang Liuyang Shen Haipeng Lan Yong Li Yang Liu Yurong Tang Wen Li | 2018 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,6: | 2 |
| 20 | Agricultural cooperatives and the role of organisational models in new intelligent traceability systems and big data analysis显示文摘Traceability systems are key to assuring food safety,creating a benefit for food supply chain components.Currently,the appearance of new technologies such as IoT and Big Data Analysis leads to a new generation of more functional,but complex,traceability systems.Organisational models based on cooperation of multiple small/medium size agents,for example of small/family farming cooperatives,play an important role in high standard agricultural production and commercialization processes.These function as both social and economic networks,with high social and economic impact in the rural areas.The case of Almeria as an example of this model was used to analyze its cooperative model.The actual traceability systems in the Almeria model were studied,taking account of the different networked agents and their interrelation.This study includes two main parts:a)analysis of the net-chains that constitute the food supply chains and their different relationships,and b)actual traceability.The next step studied how the net-chain model,including many diverse agents,may be applied to develop a new generation of traceability systems based of IoT and Big Data.This implies extending the special and functional scope of the actual systems and defining clear rules of exchange of the results of the Big Data Analysis,taking account of the adequate Privacy Rules.This work analyses the current organisation as a base for a new generation of traceability systems considered in the European project IoF2020(Internet of the Food and Farm 2020).Some parallels between Almeria’s model and certain areas in China,mainly in the areas of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Shandong were detected.Another of the objectives of this work is to deepen the understanding of these similarities and analyze the possible adaptation of the results from Almeria to China. | Cynthia Giagnocavo Fernando Bienvenido Li Ming Zhao Yurong Jorge Antonio Sanchez-Molina Yang Xinting | 2017 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2017,10,5: | 2 |
