1Full-space Cloud of Random Points with a Scrambling Metasurface显示文摘With the rapid progress in computer science,including artificial intelligence,big data and cloud computing,full-space spot generation can be pivotal to many practical applications,such as facial recognition,motion detection,augmented reality,etc.These opportunities may be achieved by using diffractive optical elements(DOEs)or light detection and ranging(LIDAR).However,DOEs suffer from intrinsic limitations,such as demanding depth-controlled fabrication techniques,large thicknesses(more than the wavelength),Lambertian operation only in half space,etc.LIDAR nevertheless relies on complex and bulky scanning systems,which hinders the miniaturization of the spot generator.Here,inspired by a Lambertian scatterer,we report a Hermitian-conjugate metasurface scrambling the incident light to a cloud of random points in full space with compressed information density,functioning in both transmission and reflection spaces.Over 4044 random spots are experimentally observed in the entire space,covering angles at nearly 90°.Our scrambling metasurface is made of amorphous silicon with a uniform subwavelength height,a nearly continuous phase coverage,a lightweight,flexible design,and low-heat dissipation.Thus,it may be mass produced by and integrated into existing semiconductor foundry designs.Our work opens important directions for emerging 3D recognition sensors,such as motion sensing,facial recognition,and other applications.Zile Li Qi Dai Muhammad Q.Mehmood Guangwei Hu Boris Luk’yanchuk Jin Tao Chenglong Hao Inki Kim Heonyeong Jeong Guoxing Zheng Shaohua Yu Andrea Alù Junsuk Rho Cheng-Wei Qiu 2018Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1:6
2Artificial Selection in Domestication and Breeding Prevents Speciation in Rice显示文摘Speciation has long been regarded as an irreversible process once the reproductive barriers had been established.However,unlike in natural populations,artificial selection might either accelerate or prevent speciation processes in domesticated species.Asian cultivated rice is a target crop for both domestication and artificial breeding;it contains two subspecies of indica and japonica,which usually produce sterile inter-subspecific hybrids due to reproductive barriers.In this study,we constructed the evolutionary trajectory of a reproductive isolation system S5,which regulates fertility in indica-japonica hybrids via three adjacent genes,based on the data of 606 accessions including two cultivated and 11 wild rice species.Although hybrid sterility haplotypes at S5 lead to establishment of a killer-protector reproductive barrier,origin of wide-compatibility haplotypes by complex hybridization and recombination provides an opposing force to reproductive isolation and thus prevents speciation during domestication.Analysis in a diallel set of 209 crosses involving 21 parents showed that the wide-compatibility genotypes largely rescued fertility of indica-japonica hybrids,indicating that the wide-compatibility gene would enable gene flow to maintain species coherence.This counteracting system indicates that combined effects of natural evolution and artificial selection may result in reversible processes of speciation in rice,which may also have implications for genetic improvement of rice.Jiaming Mi Guangwei Li Conghao Xu Jiangyi Yang Huihui Yu Gongwei Wang Xianghua Li Jinghua Xiao Huazhi Song Qifa Zhang Yidan Ouyang 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,4:6
3Study of ciprofloxacin removal by biochar obtained from used tea leaves显示文摘In this study,used tea leaves(UTLs) were pyrolyzed to obtain used tea-leaf biochar(UTC),and then the UTC was used as an adsorbent to remove ciprofloxacin(CIP) from aqueous solutions.Batch experiments were conducted to investigate the CIP adsorption performance and mechanism.The results showed that the CIP-adsorbing ability first increased and then declined as the UTC pyrolysis temperature increased.The UTC obtained at 450°C presented excellent CIP-absorbing ability at p H 6 and 40°C.The maximum monolayer adsorption capacity was 238.10 mg/g based on the Langmuir isotherm model.The pseudo-second-order kinetic equation agreed well with the CIP adsorption process,which was controlled by both external boundary layer diffusion and intra-particle diffusion.The characterization analysis revealed that the \OH groups,C_C bonds of aromatic rings,C\H groups in aromatic rings and phenolic C\O bonds play vital roles in the CIP adsorption process,and that the N\C,N\O,O\C_O and C\OH groups of UTC were consumed in large quantities.π–π interactions,hydrogen bonding and electrostatic attraction are inferred as the main adsorption mechanisms.The present work provides not only a feasible and promising approach for UTLs utilization but also a potential adsorbent material for removing high concentrations of CIP from aqueous solutions.Jie Li Guangwei Yu Lanjia Pan Chunxing Li Futian You Shengyu Xie Yin Wang Jianli Ma Xiaofu Shang 2018Journal of Environmental Sciences2018,30,11:5
4In-situ stabilisation followed by ex-situ composting for treatment and disposal of heavy metals polluted sediments显示文摘An innovative in-situ stabilisation treatment followed by ex-situ sediment composting was tested for its ability to treat and dispose of heavy-metal-polluted sediments in a river near the Chinese Pearl Delta. First, polluted sediments were treated in-situ to stabilise the heavy metals. Then the treated sediments were dredged, dewatered and sent for high temperature aerobic composting (HTAC) treatment. Finally, the compost products were used as a fertiliser for river bank plants. The stabilisation eciency of heavy metals during the process was investigated and the results are as follows: (1) using in-situ stabilisation, the extraction concentrations of Cu, Zn and Pb were reduced by 65.0%, 82.2% and 90.0%, respectively, which are much lower than the national standard given in the Identification Standard for Hazardous Waste (GB5085.3-1996); (2) chemical fraction analysis showed that heavy metals were further stabilized during the HTAC treatment; (3) the concentrations of Cu, Zn and Pb in rainwater leachate through the river bank met the level of class V in the Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water in China (GB3838-2002). 5Glucocorticoid receptor promotes the function of myeloid-derived suppressor cells by suppressing HIF1α-dependent glycolysis显示文摘Immunomodulatory signaling imposes tight regulations on metabolic programs within immune cells and consequentially determines immune response outcomes.Although the glucocorticoid receptor(GR)has been recently implicated in regulating the function of myeloid-derived suppressor cells(MDSCs),whether the dysregulation of GR in MDSCs is involved in immune-mediated hepatic diseases and how GR regulates the function of MDSCs in such a context remains unknown.Here,we revealed the dysregulation of GR expression in MDSCs during innate immunological hepatic injury(IMH)and found that GR regulates the function of MDSCs through modulating HIF1α-dependent glycolysis.Pharmacological modulation of GR by its agonist(dexamethasone,Dex)protects IMH mice against inflammatory injury.Mechanistically,GR signaling suppresses HIF1αand HIF1α-dependent glycolysis in MDSCs and thus promotes the immune suppressive activity of MDSCs.Our studies reveal a role of GR-HIF1αin regulating the metabolism and function of MDSCs and further implicate MDSC GR signaling as a potential therapeutic target in hepatic diseases that are driven by innate immune cell-mediated systemic inflammation.Yun Lu Huanrong Liu Yujing Bi Hui Yang Yan Li Jian Wang Zhengguo Zhang Yu Wang Chunxiao Li Anna Jia Linian Han Ying Hu Yong Zhao Ruoning Wang Guangwei Liu 2018Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,6:4

7Effect of Annealing Temperature on the Precipitation Behavior and Texture Evolution in a Warm-Rolled P-Containing Interstitial-Free High Strength Steel显示文摘By using transmission electron microscopy and electron back-scattered diffraction, the effect of annealing temperature on the precipitation behavior and texture evolution in a warm-rolled interstitial-free high strength steel was studied. The results indicated that fine FeTiP could precipitate at 650 °C, and the number of those precipitates increased greatly with the increasing annealing temperature until 800 °C. Furthermore, the nucleation of FeTiP was influenced by the precipitation of TiC and(Ti, Nb) C. The near absence of FeTiP and a large volume fraction of TiC and(Ti, Nb) C in matrix are envisaged to be primarily responsible for the sharp c-fiber texture. As the boundary pinning effect caused by FeTiP is weak and there are less interstitial C atoms in matrix. 8Experimental and Numerical Investigation on Erosion Corrosion of the Air Cooler Tube Bundle in a Residue Hydrotreating Unit显示文摘Corrosion leakage occurred in the 14th tube bundle in the first row of a residual oil hydrotreating air cooler after operating for two years.The failure location was 0.5 m from the outlet header box.In this paper,the erosion corrosion of the air cooler tube bundle was investigated by experimental and numerical methods.Visual inspection,scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and X-ray diffraction(XRD)experiments were performed,and the failure morphology and material composition confirmed that the damage was caused by erosion corrosion.The shear stress transport k–ωturbulence model(SST-k–ω)was then used to investigate the flow and erosion corrosion characteristics,combined with mass transfer,corrosion rate,and ionization equilibrium models.The numerical simulation results revealed that the water phase volume fraction increased with flow and heat transfer in the fluid,which increased the mass flow rate and concentration of hydrogen sulfide.The mass transfer coefficient and corrosion rate were proposed as important parameters to characterize erosion corrosion.Moreover,the local concentration of wall shear stress was found to increase the risk of erosion corrosion.The predicted high-risk area was consistent with the actual failure area,which verified that this failure incident was attributable to erosion corrosion by the water phase.Jin Haozhe Yu Chenyang Gu Youjie Qian Guangwei Liu Xiaofei Ou Guofu Jia Yongna 2022China Petroleum Processing & Petrochemical Technology2022,24,4:2
9Moderate sewage sludge biochar application on alkaline soil for corn growth:a field study显示文摘In view of the risks induced by the inhibitory effects of applying impracticably large amounts of sewage sludge biochar(SSB)to the alkaline soil,this field study investigated the influence of moderate biochar amendments(0,1500,4500,and 9000 kg/hm2)on corn growth,alkaline soil properties,and the uptake of potentially toxic elements(PTEs).The results showed that applying more SSB would decrease the ammonium nitrogen concentration and increase the available phosphorus and potassium concentrations,which inhibited corn plant growth because of high background nutrient levels of the alkaline soil.When the alkaline soil was amended with 1500 kg/hm2 SSB,the dry weight of 100 niblets increased from 32.11 g in the control to 35.07 g.There was no significant variation in the total concentration of PTEs in the soil.The concentrations of Mn,Ni,Cu,and Zn in niblets decreased from 5.54,0.83,2.26,and 27.15 mg/kg in the control to 4.47,0.62,1.30,and 23.45 mg/kg,respectively.Accordingly,the health risk from corn consumption was significantly reduced.Furthermore,the combination of SSB and fertilizer improved corn growth and reduced the risk of consumption of PTEs.Therefore,considering the increase in corn fruit yield and the decrease in consumption risk,applying 1500 kg/hm2 of biochar to alkaline soils is a realistically achievable rate,which can broaden the utilization of SSB for remediation of different types of soil.Shengyu Xie Guangwei Yu Ruqing Jiang Jianli Ma Xiaofu Shang Gang Wang Yin Wang Yongan Yang Chunxing Li 2021Biochar2021,3,2:2

11Engineering HOF‑Based Mixed‑Matrix Membranes for Efficient CO_(2) Separation显示文摘Hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks(HOFs)have emerged as a new class of crystalline porous materials,and their application in membrane technology needs to be explored.Herein,for the first time,we demonstrated the utilization of HOF-based mixed-matrix membrane for CO_(2) separation.HOF-21,a unique metallo-hydrogen-bonded organic framework material,was designed and processed into nanofillers via amine modulator,uniformly dispersing with Pebax polymer.Featured with the mix-bonded framework,HOF-21 possessed moderate pore size of 0.35 nm and displayed excellent stability under humid feed gas.The chemical functions of multiple binding sites and continuous hydrogen-bonded network jointly facilitated the mass transport of CO_(2).The resulting HOF-21 mixed-matrix membrane exhibited a permeability above 750 Barrer,a selectivity of~40 for CO_(2)/CH_(4) and~60 for CO_(2)/N_(2),surpassing the 2008 Robeson upper bound.This work enlarges the family of mixed-matrix membranes and lays the foundation for HOF membrane development.Yuhan Wang Yanxiong Ren Yu Cao Xu Liang Guangwei He Hanze Ma Hongliang Dong Xiao Fang Fusheng Pan Zhongyi Jiang 2023Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,4:2
12Investigation of the 6H-SiC (0001) surface by AFM显示文摘Micropipe and step structures on 6H-SiC (0001) surface were investigated by an atomic force microscopy (AFM). On the facet,all micropipes examined are the origins of spiral steps,indicating that dislocations intersect the surface at these points. Micro-pipes are empty-core super-dislocations as originally described by Frank. The micropipe radius increases with the square of the dis-location Burgers vector. From the center to the periphery,step structures change with different surface inclinations. Regular step is observed within the central faceted area. Step bunching and atomically rough surfaces are observed within the peripheral convex area. 17Kinetic analysis and modeling of maize straw hydrochar combustion using a multi-Gaussian-distributed activation energy model显示文摘Combustion kinetics of the hydrochar was investigated using a multi-Gaussian-distributed activation energy model(DAEM)to ex-pand the knowledge on the combustion mechanisms.The results demonstrated that the kinetic parameters calculated by the multi-Gaussian-DAEM accurately represented the experimental conversion rate curves.Overall,the feedstock combustion could be divided into four stages:the decomposition of hemicellulose,cellulose,lignin,and char combustion.The hydrochar combustion could in turn be divided into three stages:the combustion of cellulose,lignin,and char.The mean activation energy ranges obtained for the cellulose,lignin,and char were 273.7-292.8,315.1-334.5,and 354.4-370 kJ/mol,respectively,with the standard deviations of 2.1-23.1,9.5-27.4,and 12.1-22.9 kJ/mol,re-spectively.The cellulose and lignin contents first increased and then decreased with increasing hydrothermal carbonization(HTC)temperature,while the mass fraction of char gradually increased.Chunmei Yu Shan Ren Guangwei Wang Junjun Xu Haipeng Teng Tao Li Chunchao Huang Chuan Wang 2022International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2022,29,3:1

19Crystal Growth and Characterization of Ca3NbGa3Si2O14 Single Crystal显示文摘Single crystals of Ca3NbGa3Si2O14 (CNGS) with ordered Ca3Ga2Ge4O14 (CGG) structure were successfully grown from stoichiometric melts by conventional Czochralski technique along the a-axis and two large (001) facets and two small (100) facets appear in every crystal. An arrangement of parallel steps and a clear height change were observed in (001) facet by atomic force microscopy (AFM). High-resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD) results indicate that CNGS crystals have good quality and free low-angle boundaries.
