1Effects of Exogenous 5-Aminolevulinic Acid and 24-Epibrassinolide on Cd Accumulation in Rice from Cd-Contaminated Soil显示文摘High grain-Cd-accumulating rice variety Yongyou 9 was planted in Cd-contaminated farmland in Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, China to study the effects of 5-aminolevulinic acid(ALA) and24-epibrassinolide(EBR) on Cd accumulation in brown rice. Results showed that the exogenous ALA and EBR had no significant effects on agronomic traits, soil pH and total Cd content in soil, but had some effects on the available Cd content in soil, and significantly influenced the Cd accumulation in the different parts of rice. Results also showed that 100 mg/L exogenous ALA significantly reduced the Cd accumulation in brown rice to blow the food safety standard(0.2 mg/kg), and also significantly reduced the Cd contents in the roots and culm of rice. However, 200 mg/L exogenous ALA treatment increased the Cd content in brown rice remarkably. In addition, 0.15 mg/L EBR treatment increased Cd accumulation in roots, culm, leaves and brown rice notably, whereas 0.30 mg/L exogenous EBR treatment reduced the Cd accumulation in brown rice properly, but it was not significant. 2Extracellular matrix and its therapeutic potential for cancer treatment显示文摘The extracellular matrix(ECM)Is one of the major components of tumors that plays multiple crucial roles,including mechanical support,modulation of the microenvironment,and a source of signaling molecules.The quantity and cross-linking status of ECM components are major factors determining tissue stiffness.During tumorigenesis,the interplay between cancer cells and the tumor microenvironment(TME)often results in the stiffness of the ECM,leading to aberrant mechanotransduction and further malignant transformation.Therefore,a comprehensive understanding of ECM dysregulation in the TME would contribute to the discovery of promising therapeutic targets for cancer treatment.Herein,we summarized the knowledge concerning the following:(1)major ECM constituents and their functions in both normal and malignant conditions;(2)the interplay between cancer cells and the ECM in the TME;(3)key receptors for mechanotransduction and their alteration during carcinogenesis;and(4)the current therapeutic strategies targeting aberrant ECM for cancer treatment.Jiacheng Huang Lele Zhang Dalong Wan Lin Zhou Shusen Zheng Shengzhang Lin Yiting Qiao 2021Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,5:1

8A decreased risk of meningioma in women smokers was only observed in American studies rather than studies conducted in other countries:a systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘Background:Whether smoking is related to a decreased risk of meningioma in women is still controversial.We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis examining the association between smoking and risk of meningiomas in women.Methods:Two authors independently performed a systematic literature review in the PubMed,Cochrane Library,and EMBASE databases.We identified case-control and cohort studies quantifying associations between smoking and risk of meningioma in women.A meta-analysis by pooling studies was performed according to the multivariate-adjusted risk estimates and 95%confidence intervals(CIs)preferentially.We further conducted additional subgroup and sensitivity analyses to explore possible explanations of the results.Results:A total of seven observational studies were included,with a total of 2132 female patients diagnosed with meningiomas.Ever smoking was associated with a significantly reduced risk of meningioma in women,with pooled odds ratio(OR)of 0.83(95%CI 0.70–0.98).Similar findings were noted for current(OR 0.78,95%CI 0.66–0.93)and past(OR 0.82,95%CI 0.71–0.94)smokers.However,considering the areas,the OR of ever smoking was 0.77(95%CI 0.68–0.87)in three American studies,but 0.99(95%CI 0.73–1.35)in four studies conducted in other countries.Conclusions:Based on limited epidemiological evidence,a decreased risk of meningioma in women smokers was only observed in American studies rather than studies conducted in other countries.Ping Zhong Yiting Lin Ting Chen 2021Chinese Neurosurgical Journal2021,7,4:1

11Fine Mapping and Candidate Gene Prediction of the Quantitative Trait Locus qPL8 for Panicle Length in Rice显示文摘Rice panicle is the sink organ where assimilation product accumulates,and its morphology determines the rice yield.Panicle length has been suggested as a yield-related trait,but the genetic factor for its control is still limited.In this study,we carried out fine-mapping of qPL8,a QTL identified for panicle length in our previous work.Near isogenic line(NIL)with qPL8 exhibited elongated panicle without obvious effect on other panicle elements.With five key recombinants from NIL population,the locus was finally narrowed down to a 278-kb region,where 44 genes are annotated.By comparing the genomic sequence of two parents,17 genes were identified with SNPs or InDels variations in the coding region.Expression analysis showed that eight genes were up-regulated in the NIL with qPL8.Considering both the coding variation and expression status,several candidate genes for the locus were identified,and OsMADS37 was raised as the most possible candidate.Interestingly,an expression QTL(eQTL)also resides in the locus,leading to a cluster of gene expression variation in the region.This study will facilitate the application of qPL8 locus in rice breeding for yield potential.Lin Zhang Yiting Zou Zhong Bian Dong Xie Hadi Yeilaghi Xiaolei Fan Dongsheng Zhao Qiaoquan Liu 2021Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2021,90,3:1
12Intrauterine hyperglycemia impairs endometrial receptivity via up-regulating SGK1 in diabetes显示文摘Diabetes is a complex metabolic disorder which can adversely affect reproductive function. SGK1 is found to be up-regulated in multiple tissues of diabetic patients. However, the effects of diabetes on endometrial SGK1 expression and endometrial receptivity remain unknown. In this study, we established a streptozotocin-induced diabetic mouse model and observed reduced implantation sites, retarded development of pinopodes, increased SGK1, and aberrant expression of LIF and MUC1 in the endometrial epithelium. We injected the uterine lumen of normal mice with high-glucose solution and cultured endometrial cells in high-glucose medium to mimic intrauterine hyperglycemia. Both studies provided compelling evidence that hyperglycemia could lead to diminished embryo implantation and dysregulated SGK1, LIF and MUC1. Additionally, through over-expression of SGK1 in vivo and in vitro, we found that enhanced SGK1 also decreased LIF expression, increased MUC1 expression, and attenuated embryo implantation rate. We further identified that hyperglycemia-activated SMAD2/3 might be responsible for the enhancement of SGK1 and verified directly the interaction between SMAD3 and corresponding SMAD binding elements within SGK1 promoter. Taken together, our study confirmed the association between diabetes-related hyperglycemia and endometrial receptivity defects. 16Exploration and Validation of the Potential Downstream Genes Underlying ipa1-2D Locus for Rice Panicle Branching显示文摘In recent years,some super hybrid rice varieties were bred with strong culms and large panicles,which are mainly contributed by the ipa1-2D locus.A gain-of-function allele of OsSPL14 is the ipa1-2D and it can greatly increase the panicle primary branch number.However,the key downstream genes mediating this trait variation are not fully explored.In this study,we developed high-quality near-isogenic lines(NILs)with a difference of only 30 kb chromosomal segment covering the ipa1-2D locus.Using the NILs,we explored the impact of ipa1-2D on five sequential stages of early inflorescence development,and found that the locus can greatly enhance the initiation of primary branch meristems.A transcriptomic analysis was performed to unveil the downstream molecular network of ipa1-2D,and 87 genes were found differentially expressed,many of which are involved in metabolism and catalysis processes.In addition,transgenic lines of overexpression and RNA interference were generated to shape different levels of OsSPL14.They were also used to validate the expression variation explored by transcriptome.Based on the gene annotation,twelve potential downstream targets of ipa1-2D were selected,and their expression variation was confirmed by qRT-PCR analysis both in NILs and transgenic lines.This research expands the molecular network underlying ipa1-2D and provides novel gene information which might be involved in the control of panicle branching.We discussed the potential function of identified genes and highlighted their values for future function exploration and breeding application.Lin Zhang Dong Xie Zhong Bian Yiting Zou Han Zhou Wenlu Cai Hadi Yeilaghi Xiaolei Fan Changquan Zhang Qiaoquan Liu 2021Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2021,90,3:0
17To tune europium valence by controlling the composition in diphase silicate phosphors显示文摘Commercial phosphors always require fewer impurities and higher crystallinity, but sometimes it is difficult or strict to synthesize a pure phase compound. Indeed, if the practical application is not influenced, it is acceptable to synthesize a kind of phosphors with diphase matrix that have similar structure and photoluminescence properties. In present work, we designed and synthesized a series of(1-x)BaMSiO_4·xBa_2 MSi_2 O_7:Eu(M = Zn^(2+), Mg^(2+)) diphase phosphors which contained two phases BaMSiO_4(hexagonal, P63) and Ba2 MSi_2 O_7(monoclinic, C2/c) by a high temperature solid-state reaction in air condition. The structures and luminescence properties related to the phase transform from BaMSiO_4 to Ba_2 MSi_2 O_7 were analyzed carefully. The results show that the self-reduction ability of Eu^(3+) is not the best in above four compounds, respectively. 18An ultra-fast and highly efficient multiple proteases digestion strategy using graphene-oxide-based immobilized protease reagents显示文摘Highly efficient and rapid proteolytic digestion of proteins into peptides is a crucial step in shotgun-based proteome-analysis strategy.Tandem digestion by two or more proteases is demonstrated to be helpful for increasing digestion efficiency and decreasing missed cleavages,which results in more peptides that are compatible with mass-spectrometry analysis.Compared to conventional solution digestion,immobilized protease digestion has the obvious advantages of short digestion time,no self-proteolysis,and reusability.We proposed a multiple-immobilized proteases-digestion strategy that combines the advantages of the two digestion strategies mentioned above.Graphene-oxide(GO)-based immobilized trypsin and endoproteinase Glu-C were prepared by covalently attaching them onto the GO surface.The prepared GO-trypsin and GO-Glu-C were successfully applied in standard protein digestion and multiple immobilized proteases digestion of total proteins of Thermoanaerobacter tengcongensis.Compared to 12-hour solution digestion using trypsin or Glu-C,14%and 7%improvement were obtained,respectively,in the sequence coverage of BSA by one-minute digestion using GO-trypsin and GO-Glu-C.Multiple immobilized-proteases digestion of the total proteins of Thermoanaerobacter tengcongensis showed 24.3%and 48.7%enhancement in the numbers of identified proteins than was obtained using GO-trypsin or GO-Glu-C alone.The ultra-fast and highly efficient digestion can be contributed to the high loading capacity of protease on GO,which leads to fewer missed cleavages and more complete digestion.As a result,improved protein identification and sequence coverage can be expected.BAI HaiHong PAN YiTing REN XiaoJun HAO FeiRan DENG ShanShan FAN Chao YAN Hui SHEN BingQuan MA Lin TIAN Fang PENG Bo DENG YuLin QIN WeiJie QIAN XiaoHong 2014Science China Chemistry2014,57,5:0

20Fine controllable blue emission and its mechanism in Ce^(3+)-doped orthosilicate solid solution phosphors for different plant growths显示文摘The designed Ce^(3+)-doped alkaline-earth silicate phosphors Ca_mSr_(2-m-n)Ba_nSiO_4:Ce^(3+),Li^+(CSBS:Ce^(3+))were synthesized by a high temperature solid-state reaction. The crystal field splitting and the centroid shift from the free ion energy of 5 d configuration were approximated from the spectrum for Ca_2SiO_4,Sr_2SiO_4 and Ba_2SiO_4 phosphors. The single-phase purity was checked by means of X-ray diffraction. Here,when the doped concentration of Ca^(2+) is less than 80%(m ≤1.6), we report the structural phase transformation from monoclinic system β-Ca_2SiO_4 to orthorhombic system α-Ca_2SiO_4. The phosphors excited by near-ultraviolet(NUV) light at wavelengths ranging from 200 to 400 nm demonstrate a broad asymmetric blue emission band. The emission peak wavelength redshifts firstly from 417 nm of Ca_2SiO_4 to 438 nm of Sr_(0.3)Ca_(1.6)SiO_4, and then blueshifts to 411 nm of Sr_2SiO_4, and the end of 401 nm of Ba_2SiO_4.These results indicate that the tunable blue-emission of the phosphors can be realized through changing the solid solution components, which has a potential use as a blue component for fabricated precision modulation LEDs light sources and auxiliaries of SSC plastics films for different plant growths.We discuss in detail the possible mechanism and energy diagram of the tunable blue luminescence in Ca_mSr_(2-m-n)Ba_nSiO_4:Ce^(3+),Li^+ phosphors.Yaru Yang Yiting Lin Yue Han Zhongxian Qiu Wenli Zhou Jilin Zhang Chengzhi Li Liping Yu Shixun Lian 2018Journal of Rare Earths2018,36,11:0
