1Comparative WGBS identifies genes that influence non-ripe phenotype in tomato epimutant Colourless non-ripening显示文摘Whole-genome bisulfite sequencing(WGBS)allows single-base resolution and genome-wide profiling of DNA methylation in plants and animals.This technology provides a powerful tool to identify genes that are potentially controlled by dynamic changes of DNA methylation and demethylation.However,naturally occurring epimutants are rare and genes under epigenetic regulation as well as their biological relevances are often difficult to define.In tomato,fruit development and ripening are a complex process that involves epigenetic control.We have taken the advantage of the tomato epimutant Colourless non-ripening(Cnr)and performed comparative mining of the WGBS datasets for the Cnr and Sl CMT3-silenced Cnr fruits.We compared DNA methylation profiles for the promoter sequences of approximately 5,000 bp immediately upstream of the coding region of a list of20 genes.Differentially methylated regions were found for some of these genes.Virus-induced gene silencing(VIGS)of differentially methylated gene Sl DET1 or Sl PDS resulted in unusual brown pigmentation in Cnr fruits.These results suggest that comparative WGBS coupled with VIGS can be used to identify genes that may contribute to the colourless unripe phenotype of fruit in the Cnr epimutant.Weiwei Chen Zhiming Yu Junhua Kong Hui Wang Yichen Li Mei Zhao Xiaohong Wang Qianqian Zheng Nongnong Shi Pengcheng Zhang Silin Zhong Paul Hunter Mahmut Tor Yiguo Hong 2018Science China(Life Sciences)2018,61,2:3
2D609 protects retinal pigmented epithelium as a potential therapy for age-related macular degeneration显示文摘Accumulated oxidative damage may lead to irreversible retinal pigmented epithelium(RPE)cell death,which is considered to be the primary cause of dry age-related macular degeneration(AMD),leading to blindness in the elderly.However,an effective therapy for this disease is lacking.Here,we described a robust high-content screening procedure with a library of 814 protective compounds and found that D609 strongly protected RPE cells from sodium iodate(SI)-induced oxidative cell death and prolonged their healthy survival.D609 effectively attenuated excessive reactive oxygen species(ROS)and prevented severe mitochondrial loss due to oxidative stress in the RPE cells.Surprisingly,the potent antioxidative effects of D609 were not achieved through its own reducibility but were primarily dependent on its ability to increase the expression of metallothionein.The injection of this small water-soluble molecule also showed an explicit protective effect of the RPE layer in an SI-induced AMD mouse model.These findings suggested that D609 could serve as a novel antioxidative protector of RPE cells both in vitro and in vivo and unveiled a novel antioxidative mechanism of D609,which may ultimately have clinical applications for the treatment of AMD.Bowen Wang Li Wang Sijie Gu Yankun Yu Huaxing Huang Kunlun Mo He Xu Fanzhu Zeng Yichen Xiao Lulu Peng Chunqiao Liu Nan Cao Yizhi Liu Jin Yuan Hong Ouyang 2020Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1:2

8Survey on rain removal from videos or a single image显示文摘Rain can cause performance degradation of outdoor computer vision tasks.Thus,the exploration of rain removal from videos or a single image has drawn considerable attention in the field of image processing.Recently,various deraining methodologies have been proposed.However,no comprehensive survey work has yet been conducted to summarize existing deraining algorithms and quantitatively compare their generalization ability,and especially,no off-the-shelf toolkit exists for accumulating and categorizing recent representative methods for easy performance reproduction and deraining capability evaluation.In this regard,herein,we present a comprehensive overview of existing video and single image deraining methods as well as reproduce and evaluate current state-of-the-art deraining methods.In particular,these approaches are mainly classified into model-and deep-learning-based methods,and more elaborate branches of each method are presented.Inherent abilities,especially generalization performance,of the state-of-the-art methods have been both quantitatively and visually analyzed through thorough experiments conducted on synthetic and real benchmark datasets.Moreover,to facilitate the reproduction of existing deraining methods for general users,we present a comprehensive repository with detailed classification,including direct links to 85 deraining papers,24 relevant project pages,source codes of 12 and 25 algorithms for video and single image deraining,respectively,5 and 10 real and synthesized datasets,respectively,and 7 frequently used image quality evaluation metrics,along with the corresponding computation codes.Research limitations worthy of further exploration have also been discussed for future research along this direction.Hong WANG Yichen WU Minghan LI Qian ZHAO Deyu MENG 2022Science China(Information Sciences)2022,65,1:0
9UAV search-and-rescue planning using an adaptive memetic algorithm显示文摘The use of unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs) is becoming more commonplace in search-and-rescue tasks,but UAV search planning can be very complex due to limited response time, large search area, and multiple candidate search modes. In this paper, we present a UAV search planning problem where the search area is divided into a set of subareas and each subarea has a prior probability that the target is present in it. The problem aims to determine the search sequence of the subareas and the search mode for each subarea to maximize the probability of finding the target. We propose an adaptive memetic algorithm that combines a genetic algorithm with a set of local search procedures and dynamically determines which procedure to apply based on the past performance of the procedures measured in fitness improvement and diversity improvement during problem-solving. 10New insights into effects of Kaixin Powder on depression via lipid metabolism related adiponectin signaling pathway显示文摘Objective:To clarify the anti-depressive potential mechanisms of Kaixin Powder(KP),a drug that helps to prevent and treat depression and other mentaldiseases,from genome-wide transcriptome profiling.Methods:Transcriptome and KEGG pathway analysis were conducted on the hippocampus of depressed rats,then the differentially expressed genes were validated and serum concentration of lipid parameters were identified by enzymatic assays.Furthermore,high-fat diets induced depression-like behaviors in Syrian golden hamsters were conducted to verify the predicted molecular mechanisms acquired from the transcriptome analysis.Results:Transcriptome results revealed that the 24 differentially expressed genes(DEGs)in chronic mild stress(CMS)rats could be reversed after two weeks of KP treatment.The mechanisms of KP in treating depression firstly involved the regulation of several pathology modules,including lipid metabolism,synapse function and inflammation.KP could regulate imbalances of lipid homeostasis in high-fat diet induced depressive symptoms.Furthermore,it was validated that cholesterol metabolism dysfunction can be ameliorated by KP,which was correlated with upregulation of the AdipoR1-BDNF(brainderived neurotrophic factor)co-regulatory pathway.Conclusion:Taken together,our results demonstrated that KP not only alleviates depression via traditional mental illness targets,but it may also simulates the cholesterol metabolism and adiponectin signaling with multi-target characteristics.Wenshan Yang Hong Yin Yichen Wang Yuanbo Wang Xia Li Chaochen Wang Ping Liu Yuan Hu 2023Chinese Herbal Medicines2023,15,2:0
11The impact of posterior corneal astigmatism on the surgical planning of toric multifocal intraocular lens implantation显示文摘Purpose:To investigate the influence of posterior corneal astigmatism on the prediction accuracy of toric multi­focal intraocular lens(IOL)calculation.Methods:The keratometric astigmatism measured by Lenstar LS 900(KCA_(L)),keratometric astigmatism(KCAp)and total corneal astigmatism(TCA)measured by Scheimpflug camera(Pentacam HR)were documented and analyzed accordingly.Three deduction models using different parameters were compared.Model 1:KCA_(L)+keratometric comeal surgically induced astigmatism(KCSIA,0.30 D@50°);Model 2:KCA_(P)+KCSIA);Model 3:TCA 4-total CSIA(TCSIA,0.23 D@50°).The prediction errors of each model as the difference vector between the actual and the intended residual astigmatism were compared.Results:Seventy-six eyes implanted with toric multifocal IOLs were included in this study.The vector differences of the actual KCSIA and TCSIA were statistically significant in the total sample and against-the-rule(ATR)sub­group(both P<0.05).Model 1 deduced the smallest mean values of prediction error,while that of Model 3 were smaller than that of Model 2,both in the total sample and the ATR subgroups(all P<0.05).Meanwhile,in the total sample and ATR subgroups,the centroid vector magnitudes of Model 3 were smaller than that of Model 1(0.31±0.76 D and 0.39±0.76 D).Conclusions:The calculation of toric multifocal IOL should be individualized especially in the ATR eyes for the impact of PCA on the estimation of the preoperative comeal astigmatism and the CSIA.Shaochong Bu Yuanfeng Jiang Yichen Gao Xiaomei Bai Xiteng Chen Hong Zhang Fang Tian 2023Advances in Ophthalmology Practice and Research2023,3,1:0

13Activation of peroxymonosulfate by FeVO_(3-x)for the degradation of carbamazepine:Vanadium mediated electron shuttle and oxygen vacancy modulated interface chemistry显示文摘Fast Fe(III)/Fe(II)circulation in heterogeneous peroxymonosulfate(PMS)activation remains as a bottleneck issue that restricts the development of PMS based advanced oxidation processes.Herein,we proposed a facile ammonia reduction strategy and synthesized a novel FeVO3-x catalysts to activate PMS for the degradation of a typical pharmaceutical,carbamazepine(CBZ).Rapid CBZ removal could be achieved within 10 min,which outperforms most of the other iron or vanadium-based catalysts.Electron paramagnetic resonance analysis and chemical probe experiments revealed SO_(4)^(·-),·OH,O_(2)^(·-)and high valent iron(Fe(IV))were all generated in this system,but SO4·-and Fe(IV)primarily contributed to the degradation of CBZ.Besides,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray adsorption spectroscopy indicated that both the generated low-valent V provides and oxygen vacancy acted as superior electron donors and accelerated internal electron transfer via the unsaturated V-O-Fe bond.Finally,the proposed system also exhibited satisfactory performance in practical applications.This work provides a promising platform in heterogeneous PMS activation.Leiduo Lai Hongyu Zhou Yichen Hong Mengfan Luo Yang Shi Heng Zhang Zhaokun Xiong Gang Yao Bo Lai 2024Chinese Chemical Letters2024,35,1:0
