1Leonurine protects ischemia-induced brain injury via modulating SOD, MDA and GABA levels显示文摘The present study was designed to investigate the protective effects of leonurine, a compound purified from Herba Leonuri that is active on ischemic rat behavior and cortical neurons, and explore the underlying mechanism. The general rat activity, cortical neuron morphology, superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA),γ- aminobutyric acid (GABA) and glutamate decarboxylase 67 (GAD67) levels were measured. We found leonurine significantly improve the general activity of rats in an opefield test, which was associated with attenuated neuronal damage induced by ischemia. Moreover, serum SOD activity was significantly greater, MDA level lower in the leonurine group as compared with ischemia group. In addition, GABA content in the cerebral cortex was significantly greater in high-dose leonurine group. Correspondingly, GAD67 protein level coincided with the GABA level. 2Characteristics of the short rachillae of rice from archaeological sites dating to 7000 years ago显示文摘The abscission layer formed on a pedicel situated at the basal part of a short rachilla is an important characteristic for discriminating between wild, japonica, and indica rice. The short rachillae of paddy rice grains excavated from the Kuahuqiao, Luojiajiao, and Tianluoshan sites, located in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River and dating to 7000 years old, were observed. The results showed that the short rachillae could be divided into two types: a wild type and japonica type. These results indicated that the rice had been domesticated, but was a primitive cultivated rice that retained some of the characteristics of wild rice. The results also suggested that the rice was changing to resemble japonica type rice. 3Response of rice cultivation to fluctuating sea level during the Mid-Holocene显示文摘Archaeological analysis of a section of ancient rice fields at Tianluoshan for diatoms, seeds and phytoliths has shown that the highest local sea level in eastern China during the Holocene appeared before 7.0 ka BP. Entering the Mid-Holocene, as seawater regressed, a vast wetland plain appeared in the coastal area, where farmers of the Neolithic Hemudu culture cultivated rice. However, there were still several sea-level fluctuations in the Mid-Holocene, of which the biggest were from 6.4 to 6.3 ka BP and from 4.6 to 2.1 ka BP. In addition, in the period dominated by wetland grass vegetation, 6.3 to 4.6 ka BP, smaller fluctuations appar- ently pushed the coastline back on to the land. Even though the sea-level rises associated with these shoreline transgressions did not have the intensity of the highest sea level period, there still would have been profound impacts on the lives and production activities of people living in the region. Archaeological evidence from ancient rice fields at Tianluoshan shows that larger sea-level rise events pushed seawater onto the land and inundated large areas of rice fields, whereas weaker sea-level rise events resulted in the intrusion of seawater along rivers, causing an increase in soil salinity and a decrease in rice yields. The impact of sea-level rise on rice cultivation caused changes in local diet. In regions where rice production fell, the prevalence of gathering and hunting rose. 5New idea to promote the clinical applications of stem cells or their extracellular vesicles in central nervous system disorders:Combining with intranasal delivery显示文摘The clinical translation of stem cells and their extracellular vesicles(EVs)-based therapy for central nervous system(CNS) diseases is booming. Nevertheless, the insufficient CNS delivery and retention together with the invasiveness of current administration routes prevent stem cells or EVs from fully exerting their clinical therapeutic potential. Intranasal(IN) delivery is a possible strategy to solve problems as IN route could circumvent the brain-blood barrier non-invasively and fit repeated dosage regimens. Herein, we gave an overview of studies and clinical trials involved with IN route and discussed the possibility of employing IN delivery to solve problems in stem cells or EVs-based therapy. We reviewed relevant researches that combining stem cells or EVs-based therapy with IN administration and analyzed benefits brought by IN route. 7Long- versus short-interval follow-up after resection of hepatocellular carcinoma: a retrospective cohort study显示文摘Background:Average postoperative follow-up intervals vary in patients undergoing hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)resection because of limited evidence regarding the optimal interval.We aimed to compare the associations of long-versus short-interval follow-up with survival and recurrence in risk-stratified HCC patients.Methods:We performed a retrospective cohort study between 2007 and 2014.In total,1227 patients treated by curative resection of Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage A or B HCC were stratified as having a low(n=865)or high(n=362)risk of early recurrence(within the first 2 years after resection)based on prognostic factors identified by the least absolute shrinkage and selection operation algorithm.Patients were further classified into long-interval(every 4-6 months)and short-interval(every 2-4 months)follow-up subgroups based on follow-up within 2 years after resection(low risk,long vs.short:n=390 vs.n=475;high-risk,long vs.short:n=149 vs.n=213).Results:The short-interval follow-up did not prolong overall survival in either the low-risk(hazard ratio[HR]=1.152;95%confidence interval[CI]0.720-1.843)or high-risk(HR=1.213;95%CI 0.702-2.094)patients.Early recurrence occurred in 401 patients.For high-risk patients,the short-interval follow-up subgroup exhibited smaller intrahepatic recurrence than did the long-interval group(2.6 vs.3.5 cm,respectively,P=0.045).However,no significant difference in the rate of Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage 0/A recurrence was found between the long-and short-interval follow-up groups in either low-or high-risk patients(63.1%vs.68.2%,respectively,P=0.580;31.3%vs.41.5%,respec-tively,P=0.280).The rate of curative intent treatment for recurrence(34.5%vs.39.7%,respectively,P=0.430;14.6%vs.20.3%,respectively,P=0.388)was also similar between the follow-up groups for low-and high-risk patients.Conclusions:Shortening the postoperative follow-up interval from every 4-6 months to every 2-4 months within the first 2 years after resection did not increase the rate of curative intent treatment or prolong the overall survival of patients with Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage A or B HCC.Wei He Yun Zheng Ruhai Zou Jingxian Shen Junping Yang Jiliang Qiu Qiang Tao Wenwu Liu Zhiwen Yang Yuanping Zhang Binkui Li Yunfei Yuan 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:2
8Exosomes derived from osteoclasts under compression stress inhibit osteoblast differentiation显示文摘Orthodontic tooth movement is triggered by orthodontic force loading on the periodontal ligament and is achieved by alveolar bone remodeling,which is regulated by intimate crosstalk between osteoclastogenesis and osteoblast differentiation.Whether the communication between osteoclasts and osteoblasts is influenced by orthodontic compression stress requires further clarification.In this study,osteoclasts were differentiated for 10 days.On day 4 of differentiation,the number of pre-osteoclasts peaked,as determined by the increased expression of RANK and the number of multinucleated cells.After 24 h of compression stress loading,on day 4,the number of osteoclasts increased,and the optimal magnitude of stress to promote osteoclastogenesis was determined as 1 g/cm2.Moreover,the results of RNA-sequencing analysis showed that the miRNA expression profile changed markedly after compression loading and that many of the altered miRNAs were associated with cell communication functions.A series of indirect co-culture experiments showed an inhibitory effect of osteoclasts on osteoblast differentiation,especially after compression.Next,we added osteoclast-derived exosomes to hPDLSCs during osteoblast differentiation.Exosomes derived from osteoclasts under compression(cEXO)showed a greater inhibitory effect on osteoblast differentiation,compared to exosomes from osteoclasts without compression(EXO).Therefore,we analyzed differentially expressed miRNAs associated with bone development functions in exosomes:miR-223-5p and miR-181a-5p were downregulated,whereas miR-133a-3p,miR-203a-3p,miR-106a-5p,and miR-331-3p were upregulated;these altered expressions may explain the enhanced inhibitory effect of compression stress.YUE WANG YUNFEI ZHENG WEIRAN LI 2021BIOCELL2021,45,2:2

10Novel nondelay-based reservoir computing with a single micromechanical nonlinear resonator for high-efficiency information processing显示文摘Reservoir computing is a potential neuromorphic paradigm for promoting future disruptive applications in the era of the Internet of Things,owing to its well-known low training cost and compatibility with hardware.It has been successfully implemented by injecting an input signal into a spatially extended reservoir of nonlinear nodes or a temporally extended reservoir of a delayed feedback system to perform temporal information processing.Here we propose a novel nondelay-based reservoir computer using only a single micromechanical resonator with hybrid nonlinear dynamics that removes the usually required delayed feedback loop.The hybrid nonlinear dynamics of the resonator comprise a transient nonlinear response,and a Duffing nonlinear response is first used for reservoir computing.Due to the richness of this nonlinearity,the usually required delayed feedback loop can be omitted.To further simplify and improve the efficiency of reservoir computing,a self-masking process is utilized in our novel reservoir computer.Specifically,we numerically and experimentally demonstrate its excellent performance,and our system achieves a high recognition accuracy of 93%on a handwritten digit recognition benchmark and a normalized mean square error of 0.051 in a nonlinear autoregressive moving average task,which reveals its memory capacity.Furthermore,it also achieves 97.17±1%accuracy on an actual human motion gesture classification task constructed from a six-axis IMU sensor.These remarkable results verify the feasibility of our system and open up a new pathway for the hardware implementation of reservoir computing.Jie Sun Wuhao Yang Tianyi Zheng Xingyin Xiong Yunfei Liu Zheng Wang Zhitian Li Xudong Zouu 2021Microsystems & Nanoengineering2021,7,5:2
11Clinical Implications of HER-2 and P53 in Taxane-Based and Anthracycline-Based Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy in Breast Cancer显示文摘OBJECTIVE To evaluate the predictive value of humanepidermal growth factor receptor-2 (HER-2) and P53 in taxane-based and anthracycline-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC)in breast cancer.METHODSSixty-two patients with breast cancer wereincluded in this study.Twenty-two patients were treated withtaxane-based (taxane group) and 40 with anthracycline-based(anthracycline group).ER,PR,c-erbB2 and P53 were detected byimmunohistochemistry staining before NAC,and FluorescenceIn Situ Hybridization(FISH) was used to detect the HER-2 geneamplification for the cases with the expression of c-erbB2 proteinas (++) or (+++).The efficacy of the regimens was evaluated afterNAC.RESULTS In the anthracycline group,objective response (OR)was observed in 30 out of 40 patients (75%),whereas no response(NR) was observed in 10 patients (25%).In the taxane group,ORwas observed in 15 patients out of 22 patients (68.2%),whereasNR was observed in 7 patients (31.8%).HER-2-negative status wascorrelated with a high OR in both taxane-based and anthracycline-based NAC (P = 0.023 and P = 0.029),whereas P53-negative statuswas correlated with high OR rate in anthracycline-based NAC (P= 0.041).The significant difference of the CR rates was observedbetween the patients took<4 cycles and>4 cycles NAC (4.65% vs.21.05%,P<0.05).CONCLUSION The patients with HER-2 gene non-amplicationmay be sensitive to both taxane-based and anthracycline-basedchemotherapy;the patients without P53 overexpression maysuitable to select anthracycline-based chemotherapy;and properincreased NAC cycles may increase CR rates.Xiaolan Wang Fan Yao Nan Liu Yunfei Wu Xinyu Zheng Jiguang Li Caigang Liu Xueshan Qiu Feng Jin 2008Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology2008,5,6:2
12Ancient DNA sequences of rice from the low Yangtze reveal significant genotypic divergence显示文摘Rice (Oryza sativa) was first domesticated in the lower and middle Yangtze regions of China, and rice remains have been found in many Chinese archaeological sites. Until now, only phenotypic archeobotanical evidence, such as the spikelet bases of ancient grains, has been used to speculate on the domestication process and domestication rate of rice. In this study, we sequenced 4 genomic segments from rice remains in Tianluoshan, a site of the local Hemudu Neolithic culture in the low Yangtze and two other archaeological sites (~2400 and 1200 BC, respectively). We compared our sequences with those of the current domesticated and wild rice (O. rufipogon) populations. At least two genotypes were found in the remains from each site, suggesting a heterozygotic state of the rice seeds. One ancient genotype was not found in the current domesticated population and might have been lost. The rice remains belonged to the japonica group, and most if not all were japonica-type, suggesting that the remains might be at an early stage of indica-japonica divergence or an indica-japonica mixture. 14Intelligent Passive Detection of Aerial Target in Space-Air-Ground Integrated Networks显示文摘Passive detection of moving target is an important part of intelligent surveillance. Satellite has the potential to play a key role in many applications of space-air-ground integrated networks(SAGIN). In this paper, we propose a novel intelligent passive detection method for aerial target based on reservoir computing networks. Specifically, delayed feedback networks are utilized to refine the direct signals from the satellite in the reference channels. In addition, the satellite direct wave interference in the monitoring channels adopts adaptive interference suppression using the minimum mean square error filter. Furthermore, we employ decoupling echo state networks to predict the clutter interference in the monitoring channels and construct the detection statistics accordingly. Finally, a multilayer perceptron is adopted to detect the echo signal after interference suppression. Extensive simulations is conducted to evaluate the performance of our proposed method. 19Synthesis of Cu/Ni-La_(0.7)Sr_(0.3)Cr_(0.5)Mn_(0.5)O_(3-δ) and its catalytic performance on dry methane reforming显示文摘In this study,Cu/Ni-La_(0.7)Sr_(0.3)Cr_(0.5)Mn_(0.5)O_(3-δ)(LSCM) catalysts were synthesized via the citric acid-nitrate process(CNP) and chemical co-precipitation. The catalytic performance of Cu/Ni-LSCM catalysts on dry methane reforming was evaluated in a fixed-bed reactor at 550/650 ℃ and atmosphere pressure. Cu/Ni loading was investigated as an influencing factor, which led to 5 cases of samples according to the different Cu/Ni mass ratios. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), field emissionscanning electron microscope(FE-SEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET) measurement, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), hydrogen-based temperature-programmed reduction(H_2-TPR) and thermos gravimetric analyzer(TGA). The results show that the methane conversion increases, the resistance against metal sintering increases and the carbon deposition drops after the copper is introduced. 20Recent advances in bismuth-based multimetal oxide photocatalysts for hydrogen production from water splitting:Competitiveness,challenges,and future perspectives显示文摘The efficient utilization of photocatalytic technology is essential for clean energy.Bismuth-based multimetal oxides(Bi_(2)WO_(6),Bi_(2)MoO_(6),BiVO_(4)and Bi_(4)Ti_(3)O_(12))have aroused widespread attention as a visible light responsive photocatalyst for hydrogen evolution due to their low cost,nontoxicity,modifiable morphology,and outstanding optical and chemical properties.Nevertheless,the photocatalytic activities of pure materials are unsatisfactory because of their relative small specific surface area,poor quantum yield,and the rapid recombination of photogenerated carriers.Therefore,some modification strategies,including morphological control,semiconductor combination,doping,and defect engineering,have been systematically studied to enhance photocatalytic H_(2)evolution activity in the past few years.Herein,we summarize the recent research progress on bismuth-based photocatalysts,pointing out the prospects,opportunities and challenges of bismuth-based photocatalysts.Eventually,we aims to put forward valuable suggestions for designing of bismuth-based photocatalysts applied in hydrogen production on the premise of consolidating the existing theoretical basis of photocatalysis.Zheng Zhu Shipeng Wan Yunxia Zhao Yaxin Gu Yaobin Wang Yong Qin Zhihui Zhang Xinlei Ge Qin Zhong Yunfei Bu 2021Materials Reports(Energy)2021,1,2:1
