| 1 | 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents显示文摘Syncope belongs to the transient loss of consciousness(TLOC), characterized by a rapid onset, short duration, and spontaneous complete recovery. It is common in children and adolescents, accounting for 1% to 2% of emergency department visits.Recurrent syncope can seriously affect children's physical and mental health, learning ability and quality of life and sometimes cardiac syncope even poses a risk of sudden death. The present guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was developed for guiding a better clinical management of pediatric syncope. Based on the globally recent development and the evidence-based data in China, 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was jointly prepared by the Pediatric Cardiology Society, Chinese Pediatric Society, Chinese Medical Association(CMA)/Committee on Pediatric Syncope, Pediatricians Branch, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Committee on Pediatric Cardiology, Chinese College of Cardiovascular Physicians, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Pediatric Cardiology Society, Beijing Pediatric Society, Beijing Medical Association(BMA). | 2 | Effect of Different Rootstocks on the Salt Stress Tolerance in Watermelon Seedlings显示文摘The selection of salt-tolerant watermelon rootstocks requires the evaluation of its underlying mechanism. The present study investigated the effect of applying 200 mmol·L-1 NaCl on various physiological and biochemical parameters of Citrullus lanatus ‘Jingxin No.2'(abbreviated as W) seedlings grafted onto W, Cucurbita moschata ‘Quanneng Tiejia'(P1), ‘Kaijia No.1'(P2), and Lagenaria siceraria ‘Hanzhen No.3'(G), which were grown hydroponically. All the measured growth parameters were significantly inhibited by salt stress, with W/P2 exhibiting superior growth. Salt stress increased Na+uptake, which in turn disrupted K+/Na+homeostasis in all grafting combinations. The photosynthetic capacity, chlorophyll concentration, and photochemical efficiency of photosystem II of all grafts significantly decreased with salt stress. However, W grafted onto G and P2 showed higher resistance than W grafted onto W and P1. Electrolyte leakage(EL) superoxide dismutase, catalase, peroxidase, and ascorbate peroxidase activity were significantly affected by both grafting and salt stress. Minimum EL was observed in W/P2, which also exhibited superior antioxidative capacity. Physiological and biochemical assessment indicated that W grafted onto the P2 rootstock displayed the greatest salt tolerance. | 3 | Examples of unusual ionospheric observations by the CSES prior to earthquakes显示文摘The CSES(China seismic electromagnetic satellite) was launched on February 2, 2018 in a circular polar orbit at an altitude of~507 km. One of the main objectives of CSES is to search for and characterize ionospheric perturbations that can be associated with seismic activities, to better understand the generation mechanism of such perturbations. Its scientific payload can measure a broad frequency range of electromagnetic waves and some important plasma parameters. This paper is a first-hand study of unusual observations recorded by the CSES over seismic regions prior to four earthquakes with M >7.0 since the satellite's launch. CSES detectors measured irregularities near the epicenter of these four earthquakes. | 6 | Influence of plastic film mulching and planting density on yield,leaf anatomy,and root characteristics of maize on the Loess Plateau显示文摘In rainfed areas of northwestern China,maize production is constrained mainly by low temperature during early growth and water limitation during the entire growth period.Plastic film mulching is commonly used to increase maize yield in this area,because it increases topsoil temperature and moisture content as well as water use efficiency.However,the physiological and anatomical bases of maize yield improvement with plastic film mulching are not well understood.The effects of plastic film mulching and planting density on maize yield,photosynthetic characteristics,respiration,leaf anatomy,and root growth were studied in a two-year field experiment conducted on the Loess Plateau of China in 2017 and 2018.The experiment used a split-split plot design with two mulching treatments(plastic film mulching and no mulching),two planting densities(7.5×104 and10.5×104 plants ha-1),and two maize cultivars,Zhengdan 958 and Xianyu 335.Compared with no mulching,plastic film mulching increased maize yields by 31.1%–46.4%in 2017 and3.6%–34.7%in 2018.Compared with low planting density,high planting density significantly increased and slightly reduced yields of both cultivars in the dry year 2017 and the rainy year 2018,respectively.Plastic film mulching increased photosynthesis and respiration as well as leaf stomatal density and aperture.Photosynthetic rate,dark respiration,and stomatal conductance and aperture were lower at high planting than at low planting density.Maize yield was positively correlated with photosynthesis,dark respiration,and stomatal aperture.Mulching increased root dry weight and length in the 0–20 cm soil layer and root activity at maturity.Overall,the changes in root growth and leaf anatomy resulted in increased photosynthesis and dark respiration,and the increased photosynthesis contributed to the increase in grain yield and biomass production under plastic film mulching conditions.Our results increase understanding of the physiological mechanisms by which plastic film mulching increases maize yield in water-and temperature-limited areas. | Li Niu Yanyan Yan Peng Hou Wenbo Bai Rulang Zhao Yonghong Wang Shaokun Li Taisheng Du Ming Zhao Jiqing Song Wenbin Zhou | 2020 | The Crop Journal2020,8,4: | 6 |
| 7 | Exosomes with low miR-34c-3p expression promote invasion and migration of non-small cell lung cancer by upregulating integrinα2β1显示文摘Exosomes play critical roles in regulating various physiological and pathological processes,including immune stimulation,immune suppression,cardiovascular diseases,and cancers.Recent studies show that exosomes that transport specific microRNAs(miRNAs)are involved in tumor development.However,the molecular mechanism by which tumor invasion and migration are regulated by exosomes from non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)is not well understood.Here,we show that exosomes shuttling low levels of miR-34c-3p are involved in NSCLC progression.Our results showed that exosomes derived from NSCLC cells carrying low levels of miR-34c-3p could be transported into the cytoplasm of NSCLC cells and accelerate NSCLC invasion and migration by upregulating integrinα2β1.A luciferase assay revealed that integrinα2β1 was the direct target of miR-34c-3p,and overexpression of integrinα2β1 could promote the invasion and migration of NSCLC cells.The analysis of exosomes derived from clinical serum samples indicated that the expression of miR-34c-3p was significantly downregulated in exosomes from NSCLC patients compared with that of normal controls.A549-derived exosomes promoted NSCLC cells lung metastases in vivo.Exosomes shuttling low levels of miR-34c-3p were associated with the progression of NSCLC in vitro and in vivo.Our data demonstrate that exosomes shuttling low levels of miR-34c-3p can accelerate the invasion and migration of NSCLC by upregulating integrinα2β1.MiR-34c-3p can be a diagnostic and prognostic marker for NSCLC.High expression of integrinα2β1 is positively related to the migration and metastasis of NSCLC cells. | Wenjing Huang Yanyan Yan Yun Liu Minting Lin Jinxiang Ma Wei Zhang Jianwei Dai Jiajun Li Qiaoru Guo Hubiao Chen Bolat Makabel Hong Liu Chaoyue Su Hong Bi Jianye Zhang | 2020 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1: | 5 |

| 9 | Emissions of parent, nitrated, and oxygenated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from indoor corn straw burning in normal and controlled combustion conditions显示文摘Emission factors(EFs) of parent polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(pPAHs), nitrated PAHs(nPAHs), and oxygenated PAHs(oPAHs)were measured for indoor corn straw burned in a brick cooking stove under diferent burning conditions. The EFs of total 28 pPAHs,6 nPAHs and 4 oPAHs were(7.9 ± 3.4),(6.5 ± 1.6)×10 3, and(6.1 ± 1.4)×10 1mg/kg, respectively. Fuel charge size had insignificant influence on the pollutant emissions. Measured EFs increased significantly in a fast burning due to the oxygen deficient atmosphere formed in the stove chamber. In both restricted and enhanced air supply conditions, the EFs of pPAHs, nPAHs and oPAHs were significantly higher than those measured in normal burning conditions. Though EFs varied among diferent burning conditions, the composition profiles and calculated isomer ratios were similar, without significant diferences. | 10 | Tannic acid extracted from gallnut prevents post-weaning diarrhea and improves intestinal health of weaned piglets显示文摘This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of different levels of tannic acid(TA)on growth performance,diarrhea rate,nutrient digestibility and intestinal health in weaned piglets.A total of 180 weaned piglets(Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire,24 d of age,initial average BW=7.77±0.17 kg)were allotted to 5 groups(6 pigs/pen and 6 replicates/group)in a randomized complete block design according to their gender and body weight.Piglets were fed a basal diet,or the basal diet supplemented with 0.05%,0.1%,0.2%or 0.4%TA for 28 d.The supplementary levels of TA in the diets were obtained by adding tannalbin containing 51%TA and 40.17%protein.The results showed that,compared with the CON group,dietary TA did not affect ADFI,ADG or F:G,and linearly reduced(P<0.01)the diarrhea rate and diarrhea index of piglets.There were no significant effects on apparent total tract digestibility(ATTD)in the 0.05%,0.1%and 0.2%TA groups,while negative effects(P<0.05)on apparent digestibility of crude protein and gross energy were observed in the 0.4%TA group.In addition,the nutrient digestibility of dry matter,crude protein and gross energy linearly decreased(P<0.01)with the increase of TA dosage.Supplementation of TA increased(P<0.05)the villus height of the duodenum and jejunum,as well as increased(P<0.05)catalase(CAT)activity in serum.Dietary TA improved(P<0.05)the Bacillus counts in cecal digesta.Further,TA significantly improved(P<0.05)Bacillus counts and reduced(P<0.05)the Escherichia coli counts in colonic digesta.The concentration of acetic acid,pro pionic acid,butyric acid and isovaleric acid in cecal digesta were significantly increased(P<0.05).The mRNA expression level of zonula occludens-1(Z0-1),zonula occludens-2(ZI-2),and claudin-2(CLDN-2)in the jejunum were greater(P<0.05)in TA supplemented groups.The study showed that,compared to the control,TA prevented post-weaning diarrhea and improved intestinal health of weaned piglets,and the appropriate level of TA supplementation would be from 0.1%to 0.2%. | Yanyan Song Yong Luo Bing Yu Jun He Ping Zheng Xiangbing Mao Zhiqing Huang Junqiu Luo Yuheng Luo Hui Yan Quyuan Wang Huifen Wang Daiwen Chen Jie Yu | 2021 | Animal Nutrition2021,,4: | 5 |
| 11 | A targeted sequencing approach to find novel pathogenic genes associated with sporadic aortic dissection显示文摘Aortic dissection(AD) is a heterogeneous genetic disease of the aorta with high mortality and poor prognosis. However, only few genetic causes of AD have been explored till date. After conducting a broad literature review focused on identifying potential pathogenic pathways, we designed a panel containing 152 AD-associated genes to conduct massively parallel targeted nextgeneration sequencing of 702 sporadic aortic dissection patients and 163 matched healthy controls. After validation by Sanger sequencing, we identified 21 definitely pathogenic and 635 likely pathogenic variants in 61.25%(430/702) of patients. In these patients, 34.88%(150/430) harbored more than one variant that was either definitely or likely to be pathogenic. Among the candidate genes, we identified 546 likely pathogenic variants in 47.72%(335/702) of patients. Importantly, we identified 94 lossof-function(LOF) variants in 45 genes in AD patients, but only five LOF variants in the controls(P=1.34×10^(-4)). With a burden test, we highlighted RNF213 as an important new gene for AD pathogenesis. We also performed transcriptome sequencing of human aorta tissues to evaluate the expression levels of these newly identified genes. Our study has compiled a comprehensive genetic map of sporadic AD in the Han Chinese population. | 12 | CPI-17-mediated contraction of vascular smooth muscle is essential for the development of hypertension in obese mice显示文摘Several factors have been implicated in obesity-related hypertension, but the genesis of the hypertension is largely unknown. In this study, we found a significantly upregulated expression of CPI-17(C-kinasepotentiated protein phosphatase 1 inhibitor of 17 kDa) and protein kinase C(PKC) isoforms in the vascular smooth muscles of high-fat diet(HFD)-fed obese mice. The obese wild-type mice showed a significant elevation of blood pressure and enhanced calcium-sensitized contraction of vascular smooth muscles. However, the obese CPI-17-deficient mice showed a normotensive blood pressure, and the calcium-sensitized contraction was consistently reduced. In addition, the mutant muscle displayed an abolished responsive force to a PKC activator and a 30%-50% reduction in both the initial peak force and sustained force in response to various G protein-coupled receptor(GPCR) agonists. Our observations showed that CPI-17-mediated calcium sensitization is mediated through a GPCR/PKC/CPI-17/MLCP/RLC signaling pathway. | 13 | Variants of genes encoding collagens and matrix metalloproteinase system increased the risk of aortic dissection显示文摘Aortic dissection(AD) is a devastating,heterogeneous condition of aorta.The homeostasis between collagens and matrix metalloproteases(MMPs)/tissue inhibitors of MMPs(TIMPs) system in the extracellular matrix plays an important role for structure and functions of aorta.However,our knowledge on association between variants of genes in this system and pathogenesis of AD is very limited.We analyzed all yet known coding human genes of collagens(45 genes),MMPs/TIMPs(27genes) in 702 sporadic AD patients and in 163 matched healthy controls,by using massively targeted next-generation and Sanger sequencing.To define the pathogenesis of potential disease-causing candidate genes,we performed transcriptome sequencing and pedigree co-segregation analysis in some genes and generated Col5a2 knockout rats.We identified 257 pathogenic or likely pathogenic variants which involved 88.89%(64/72) genes in collagens-MMPs/TIMPs system and accounted for 31.05%(218/702) sporadic AD patients.In them,84.86%patients(185/218) carried one variant,12.84%two variants and 2.30%more than two variants.Importantly,we identified 52 novel probably pathogenic loss-of-function(LOF) variants(20 nonsense,16 frameshift,14 splice sites,one stop-loss,one initiation codon) in 11.06%(50/452) AD patients,which were absent in 163controls(P=2.5×10^(-5)).Transcriptome sequencing revealed that identified variants induced dyshomeostasis in expression of collagens-TIMPs/MMPs systems.The Col5α2^(-/-) rats manifested growth retardation and aortic dysplasia.Our study provides a first comprehensive map of genetic alterations in collagens-MMPs/TIMPs system in sporadic AD patients and suggests that variants of these genes contribute largely to AD pathogenesis. | Zongzhe Li Chengming Zhou Lun Tan Peng Chen Yanyan Cao Chenze Li Xianqing Li Jiangtao Yan Hesong Zeng Dao-Wu Wang Dao-Wen Wang | 2017 | Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,1: | 4 |
| 14 | Taurine Transporter dEAAT2 is Required for Auditory Transduction in Drosophila显示文摘Drosophila dEAAT2, a member of the excitatory amino-acid transporter(EAAT) family, has been described as mediating the high-affinity transport of taurine, which is a free amino-acid abundant in both insects and mammals. However, the role of taurine and its transporter in hearing is not clear. Here, we report that dEAAT2 is required for the larval startle response to sound stimuli. d EAAT2 was found to be enriched in the distal region of chordotonal neurons where sound transduction occurs. The Ca^(2+) imaging and electrophysiological results showed that disrupted dEAAT2 expression significantly reduced the response of chordotonal neurons to sound.More importantly, expressing d EAAT2 in the chordotonal neurons rescued these mutant phenotypes. | 15 | Extranodal involvement in young patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma: distribution, prognostic value and treatment options显示文摘Objective: Extranodal involvement represents a peculiar presentation of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL). Previous studies have suggested that older patients are more prone to extranodal involvement. This study retrospectively addressed the distribution, prognostic value and treatment options of extranodal involvement in young patients with DLBCL.Methods: A total of 329 patients were enrolled according to the inclusion requirements. The effects of gender,extranodal involvement, age-adjusted international prognostic index(aa IPI), rituximab infusion and radiotherapy on patient outcomes were evaluated.Results: Among these patients, 59% presented extranodal involvement in 16 anatomic sites. More than one instance was linked to many poorer clinical characteristics and poorer survival compared with either nodal disease or one instance. In patients with one extranodal lesion, multivariate analysis revealed that the site of extranodal involvement, but not the aa IPI or rituximab infusion, was independently related to the outcome, and radiotherapy had a negative influence on survival.Conclusions: Extranodal involvement is common in younger patients and exhibits a ubiquitous distribution.The site of extranodal involvement is of strong prognostic significance. Sciatic nerve was sutured to the sheath of injury optic nerve by a 10 - 0 nylon, pcDNA3-GDNF was smeared to the joint and injected to the vitreous cavity. The regenerated retinal ganglion cells axons were observed by HRP. The retina and optic nerve were observed by pathohistological methods.Results: Some retinal ganglion cells with regenerated axons could be seen a week after transplantation with large cell bodies. The cells could be identified by HRP. The regenerated nerve fibers grew to the transplanted sciatic nerve. Then the number of retinal ganglion cells with regenerated axons increased with time going. | 17 | Tannic acid prevents post-weaning diarrhea by improving intestinal barrier integrity and function in weaned piglets显示文摘Background:Tannic acid(TA)is potential to reduce diarrhea in weaning pigs,but knowledge about the influence of TA on intestinal barrier integrity and function is still scarce.This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary TA supplementation on growth performance,diarrhea rate,intestinal barrier integrity and function of weaned pigs.Methods:A total of 108 crossbred(Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire)piglets,with an initial average body weight of 6.60±0.27 kg,were allotted to 3 groups(6 pigs/pen and 6 replicates/group)in a randomized complete block design according to their gender and body weight.Piglets were fed the basal diet with 0(control,CON),0.2%and 1.0%TA,respectively.The trial lasted for 28 d.Results:Compared with the CON group,dietary 0.2%and 1.0%TA supplementation didn’t affect ADFI,ADG and F:G(P>0.05),but reduced diarrhea rate,diarrhea index and diarrhea score of piglets(P<0.05),reduced diamine oxidase(DAO)activity and D-lactic acid concentration in serum(P<0.01).The higher occludin expression and localization were observed in the duodenum,jejunum and ileum after supplementation with 0.2%or 1.0%TA(P<0.05).Adding 0.2%TA to diet significantly decreased crypt depth,increased villus height/crypt depth ratio in the duodenum(P<0.05),and dietary 1.0%TA tended to decrease crypt depth(P<0.10)and significantly decreased villus height(P<0.05)of the ileum.Moreover,lower malondialdehyde content in the ileum was detected in the pigs fed 1.0%TA(P<0.05).In the duodenum,both 0.2%and 1.0%TA groups had higher occludin(OCLN)mRNA and 0.2%TA group had higher zonula occludens-2(ZO-2)level(P<0.05).Meanwhile,dietary 1.0%TA supplementation tended to up-regulate OCLN mRNA levels in the jejunum(P<0.10)and 0.2%TA supplementation tended to up-regulate zonula occludens-1(ZO-1)mRNA levels in the ileum(P<0.10).Conclusion:In conclusion,dietary supplementation of 0.2%or 1.0%TA could effectively alleviate postweaning diarrhea without altering growth performance in weaned piglets,which might be achieved by improving intestinal barrier integrity and function. | Jie Yu Yanyan Song Bing Yu Jun He Ping Zheng Xiangbing Mao Zhiqing Huang Yuheng Luo Junqiu Luo Hui Yan Quyuan Wang Huifen Wang Daiwen Chen | 2021 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021,12,2: | 3 |
