| 1 | Differential expression of serum miR-126,miR-141 and miR-21 as novel biomarkers for early detection of liver metastasis in colorectal cancer显示文摘Objective:MicroRNAs(miRNAs) have potential as diagnostic biomarkers in cancer.Evaluation of the association between miRNA expression patterns and early detection of liver metastasis in colorectal cancer(CRC) has not been reported.Methods:We investigated the expression of metastasis-associated miRs-31,335,206,141,126,200b,200c,21,Let7a,Let7b and Let7c in localized,liver-metastatic and other organ-metastatic CRC(OM-CRC).Expressions of target miRNAs in serum were evaluated in 116 consecutive localized CRC(L-CRC),72 synchronous liver-metastatic CRC(SLM-CRC) and 36 other OM-CRC by quantitative real-time PCR.Results:Seven of 11 tested miRNAs could be detected from serum.Four miRNAs,miR-126,Let-7a,miR-141 and miR-21 were identified as metastasis-associated miRNAs.Compared with L-CRC,significant upregulated expression was observed for miR-141 and miR-21 in SLM-CRC and OM-CRC,down-regulated expression was observed for miR-126 in SLM-CRC and OM-CRC,and up-regulated expression of Let-7a in OM-CRC.The receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve showed serum miR-126 had a cut-off [log 10 relative quantity(log 10 RQ)=–0.2005] with 77.78% sensitivity and 68.97% specificity with an area under curve(AUC) of 0.7564,miR-141 had a cut-off(log 10 RQ=–0.2285) with 86.11% sensitivity and 76.11% specificity with an AUC of 0.8279,and miR-21 had a cut-off(log 10 RQ=–0.1310) with 73.61% sensitivity and 66.38% specificity with an AUC of 0.7479.Conclusions:We identified liver metastasis-associated miRNAs,suggesting serum miR-126,miR-141 and miR-21 may be novel biomarkers for clinical diagnosis of early stage liver-metastatic CRC. | Jie Yin Zhigang Bai Jianning Song Yun Yang Jin Wang Wei Han Jun Zhang Hua Meng Xuemei Ma Yao Yang Tingting Wang Weirong Li Zhongtao Zhang | 2014 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2014,26,1: | 22 |
| 2 | The Bedload Movement in the Changjiang Estuary显示文摘- Sandwaves in the Changjiang estuary were measured with a shallow sediment profiler and an echosounder from 1978 to 1988. The data, together with grain size and bedform of sediment indicates that the bedload movement by rolling and saltation is of great significance to sediment transport and is the principal factor responsible for sandwave and sandbody development in the estuary. The sandwaves were found well-developed, which is related to the tidal range and the velocity of ebb current. However, the further growth is restricted by strong flood current prevailing in the estuary. Because of the significant bedload, the sandbodies shift obviously and frequently, and sometimes the exchange of position occurs between the sandbodies and tidal channels. | 4 | System integration of China's first PEMFC locomotive显示文摘In the face of growing environmental pollution,developing a fuel-cell-driven shunting locomotive is a great challenge in China for environmental protection and energy saving,which combines the environmental advantages of an electric locomotive with the lower infrastructure costs of a diesel-electric locomotive.In this paper,the investigation status and the development trend of the fuel-cell-driven shunting locomotive were introduced.Through innovation of the power system using fuel cells,an experiment prototype of a fuel-cell shunting locomotive was developed,which would reduce the effects on the environment of the existing locomotives.This was the first locomotive to use a proton exchange membrane fuel-cell(PEMFC) power plant in China.From October 2012,we started to test the fuel-cell power plant and further test runs on the test rail-line in Chengdu,Sichuan.The achieved encouraging results can provide fundamental data for the modification of the current individual fuel cell locomotives or further development of the fuel-cell hybrid ones in China. | WeiRong Chen Fei Peng Zhixiang Liu Qi Li Chaohua Dai | 2013 | Journal of Modern Transportation2013,21,3: | 7 |
| 5 | Acupuncture/electroacupuncture enhances antidepressant effect of Seroxat:the Symptom Checklist-90 scores显示文摘One hundred and five patients with primary unipolar depression were randomly divided into three groups: drug group(Seroxat administration), acupuncture group(Seroxat plus acupuncture), and electroacupuncture group(Seroxat plus acupuncture plus electroacupuncture). Patients' symptoms were evaluated using a psychometric questionnaire, the Symptom Checklist-90, before intervention and after 2, 4, 6 and 10 weeks of treatment. The individual factor scores and the total score from the Symptom Checklist-90 reduced in all three groups as treatment progressed. In the acupuncture and electroacupuncture groups, the total score and the factor scores for obsessive-compulsive symptoms, depression, and anxiety were significantly lower than those in the drug group. There was no significant difference in the factor scores or total scores between the acupuncture and electroacupuncture groups. Some factor scores in the electroacupuncture group, such as somatization, depression, hostility, and phobic anxiety, were increased at 10 weeks compared with the respective score immediately after the course of electroacupuncture at 6 weeks. Our findings indicate that administration of Seroxat alone or in combination with acupuncture/electroacupuncture can produce a significant effect in patients with primary unipolar depression. | 6 | Severe human infection with a novel avian-origin influenza A(H7N4) virus显示文摘Human infections with influenza H7 subtypes, such as H7N9, have raised concerns worldwide. Here, we report a human infection with a novel influenza A(H7N4) virus. A 68 years-old woman with cardiovascular and cholecystic comorbidities developed rapidly progressed pneumonia with influenza-like-illness as initial symptom, recovered after 23 days-hospitalization including 8 days in ICU. Laboratory indicators for liver and blood coagulation dysfunction were observed. Oseltamivir phosphate, glucocorticoids and antibiotics were jointly implemented, with nasal catheterization of oxygen inhalation for this patient.We obtained the medical records and collected serial respiratory and blood specimens from her. We collected throat, cloacal and/or feces samples of poultry and wild birds from the patient's backyard, neighborhood, local live poultry markets(LPMs) and the nearest lake. All close contacts of the patient were followed up and sampled with throat swabs and sera. Influenza viruses and other respiratory pathogens were tested by real-time RT-PCR, viral culturing and/or sequencing for human respiratory and bird samples. Micro-neutralizing assay was performed for sera. A novel reassortant wild bird-origin H7N4 virus is identified from the patient and her backyard poultry(chickens and ducks) by sequencing, which is distinct from previously-reported avian H7N4 and H7N9 viruses. At least four folds increase of neutralizing antibodies to H7N4 was detected in her convalescent sera. | 10 | Facile surface modification of mesoporous silica with heterocyclic silanes for efficiently removing arsenic显示文摘Arsenic being one of the most toxic heavy metals has long been a focus of concern due to its gravest threats to human health and environment. Herein, we employ a new method named ring-opening click reaction to synthesize thiol- and amino- bifunctionalized SBA-15 (denoted as bi-SBA-15) for directly remove As(Ⅲ) without preoxidation As(Ⅲ) to As(V) from contaminated water. Quite different from commonly modified with trialkoxysilanes, ring-opening click reaction is substantially faster (0.5–2 h at 25 ℃) and more efficient. The synthesized bi-SBA-15 exhibits excellent adsorption performance of As(Ⅲ) and As(V) in an aqueous solution with a great adsorption capacity (33.70 mg/g and 42.66 mg/g, respectively), a very short equilibrium time (<30 min), which is much faster than those of other adsorbents reported previously. | 18 | Cathode infiltration with enhanced catalytic activity and durability for intermediate-temperature solid oxide fuel cells显示文摘To lower the operation temperature and increase the durability of solid oxide fuel cells(SOFCs), increasing attentions have been paid on developing cathode materials with good oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)activity at intermediate-temperature(IT, 500-750 ℃) range. However, most cathode materials exhibit poor catalytic activity, or they thermally mismatch with SOFC electrolytes and undergo severe degeneration. Infiltrating catalysts on existing backbone materials has been proved to be an efficient method to construct highly active and durable cathodes. In this mini-review, the advantages of infiltration-based cathode compared with new material-based cathodes are summarized. The merits and drawbacks of different backbones are illustrated. Different types of catalysts for infiltration are depicted in detail.
