| 1 | Acupuncture stimulation of Yamen(GV 15), Fengfu(GV 16), Baihui(GV 20), Shuigou(GV 26) and Hegu(LI 4) reduces brain microglia activation in a traumatic brain injury rat model显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of acupuncture on neuroinflammation in traumatic brain injury(TBI) rats by stimulating Yamen(GV 15), Fengfu(GV16), Baihui(GV 20), Shuigou(GV 26) and Hegu(LI 4)acupoints and to investigate the mechanism underpinning this effect.METHODS: A TBI model was induced in SpragueDawley rats using Feeney's freefall impact method.Acupuncture to stimulate the Yamen(GV 15), Fengfu(GV 16), Baihui(GV 20), Shuigou(GV 26) and Hegu(LI 4) acupoints was performed on the TBI rats. After 3 consecutive days of acupuncture treatment, we investigated signal molecules, receptors and microglia related to neuroinflammation in brain tissue of the TBI rats and analyzed the possi-ble mechanism underlying the effect of acupuncture on neuroinflammation.RESULTS: After the acupuncture treatment, ionized calcium binding adaptor molecule 1(Iba1), a protein specific to microglia, was investigated. In the cortical layer of damaged brain tissue in TBI rats,the Iba1-positive area was 3.3% ± 0.9% in the rats that received acupuncture compared with 5.2% ±1.4% in the TBI rats that did not receive acupuncture, and the microglia were smaller with more slender protrusions in the acupuncture-treated rats.This result indicates that acupuncture can significantly reduce microglia activation in TBI rats. A possible mechanism for this effect is that acupuncture reduces the expression of autotaxin and lysophosphatidic acid. Together, these constitute the autotaxin-lysophosphatidic acid axis, which induces microglial activation in the brains of TBI rats. Acupuncture treatment may downregulate the expression of Lysophosphatidic acid(LPA) receptor(LPAR) 1 and LPAR2 on the microglial cytomembrane, which affects the microglia activation process.CONCLUSION: Acupuncture stimulating the Yamen(GV 15), Fengfu(GV 16), Baihui(GV 20),Shuigou(GV 26) and Hegu(LI 4) acupoints can effectively inhibit the development of neuroinflammation after TBI. | 2 | Safety and efficacy of a modified XELOX adjuvant regimen for patients with operated stage III colon cancer:a Chinese single-center experience显示文摘Background:A fixed 8-cycle oxaliplatin and capecitabine(XELOX)regimen has been the standard adjuvant therapy for patients with stage III colon cancer.However,completing the full-cycle of oxaliplatin is often associated with severe neurotoxicity.To spare patients from the toxic effects,without comprising the required efficacy,we evaluated the safety and efficacy of a modified XELOX(mXELOX)adjuvant chemotherapy regimen with 6 cycles of oxaliplatin and a full cycle of capecitabine.Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 330 eligible patients with stage III colon cancer who underwent cura-tive tumor resection followed by mXELOX,standard XELOX or unfinished XELOX adjuvant chemotherapy between December 2007 and April 2015.Associated prognostic factors were investigated and their disease-free survival(DFS)and overall survival(OS)rates were also determined and compared among the different regimen groups.Results:Compared with the standard XELOX group,the mXELOX group had lower total incidence rates of neuro-toxicity(39.3%vs.76.2%,P<0.001),leucopenia(53.6%vs.69.8%,P=0.017)and thrombocytopenia(38.1%vs.56.3%,P=0.011).The standard XELOX and mXELOX adjuvant chemotherapy regimens presented with comparable 3-year DFS rates(86.3%vs.89.2%;P=0.838)and 3-year OS rates(92.7%vs.97.6%;P=0.227).Compared to unfinished XELOX chemotherapy,the oncologic benefits of the mXELOX regimen were greater for patients with T4 tumors(3-year DFS:Hazard ratio[HR],2.184;95%confidence interval[CI],1.051-4.540;P=0.036;3-year OS:HR,4.529;95%CI 1.245-16.479;P=0.022)and for high-risk patients(3-year DFS:HR,1.962;95%CI 0.964-3.993;P=0.044;3-year OS:HR,4.193;95%CI 1.182-14.874;P=0.026).Conclusions:The mXELOX adjuvant chemotherapy presented a comparable survival benefit and lower incidence of toxicity than standard XELOX chemotherapy.It could be an alternative treatment for high-risk patients with operated stage III colon cancer. | Jianhong Peng Weihao Li Rongxin Zhang Junzhong Lin Jinghua Tang Yongshan Wen Zhenhai Lu Xiaojun Wu Zhizhong Pan | 2019 | Cancer Communications2019,39,1: | 2 |

| 10 | Are our clone detectors good enough?An empirical study of code effects by obfuscation显示文摘Clone detection has received much attention in many fields such as malicious code detection,vulnerability hunting,and code copyright infringement detection.However,cyber criminals may obfuscate code to impede violation detection.To date,few studies have investigated the robustness of clone detectors,especially in-fashion deep learning-based ones,against obfuscation.Meanwhile,most of these studies only measure the difference between one code snippet and its obfuscation version.However,in reality,the attackers may modify the original code before obfuscating it.Then what we should evaluate is the detection of obfuscated code from cloned code,not the original code.For this,we conduct a comprehensive study evaluating 3 popular deep-learning based clone detectors and 6 commonly used traditional ones.Regarding the data,we collect 6512 clone pairs of five types from the dataset BigCloneBench and obfuscate one program of each pair via 64 strategies of 6 state-of-art commercial obfuscators.We also collect 1424 non-clone pairs to evaluate the false positives.In sum,a benchmark of 524,148 code pairs(either clone or not)are generated,which are passed to clone detectors for evaluation.To automate the evaluation,we develop one uniform evaluation framework,integrating the clone detectors and obfuscators.The results bring us interesting findings on how obfuscation affects the performance of clone detection and what is the difference between traditional and deep learning-based clone detectors.In addition,we conduct manual code reviews to uncover the root cause of the phenomenon and give suggestions to users from different perspectives. | Weihao Huang Guozhu Meng Chaoyang Lin Qiucun Yan Kai Chen Zhuo Ma | 2023 | Cybersecurity2023,6,4: | 0 |

| 14 | Effects of Simvastatin on Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress-Mediated Apoptosis in Atherosclerotic Calcification显示文摘Objective:The effectiveness of statins in reducing atherosclerotic calcification remains controversial.The aim of this study was to confirm that simvastatin reduces atherosclerotic calcification and stabilizes plaque by restricting endoplasmic reticulum stress(ERS)-mediated apoptosis.Methods:Twenty-four 8-week-old male apolipoprotein E(ApoE)-/-mice(C57BL/6J genetic background)were selected and randomly divided into model(n=12)and simvastatin(n=12)groups.Twelve male C57BL/6J mice were selected as control group(n=12).The mice were adaptively fed for 2 weeks and were put on a high-fat diet thereafter.After 9 weeks,they were treated with simvastatin(20 mg/kg)or phosphate-buffered saline daily for 8 weeks.Aortic sinus samples were obtained from ApoE-/-and C57BL/6J mice for hematoxylin and eosin,von Kossa,alizarin Red S,terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling,and immunohistochemical staining after in vivo treatment with simvastatin.In addition,mouse vascular smooth muscle cells were analyzed after exposure to simvastatin in vitro.Results:Administration of simvastatin in vivo drastically attenuated the atherosclerosis,calcification,and apoptosis,and decreased the serum levels of triglycerides,total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol,and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol.The expression levels of glucose-regulated protein,78 kDa(GRP78),C/EBP homologous protein(CHOP),and caspase 12(CASP12)in the aortic sinus decreased in the simvastatin group compared with the model group.In vitro,simvastatin or simvastatin plus ERS inhibitor(taurine)attenuated calcification and apoptosis,and reduced the expression of ERS-related proteins GRP78,CHOP,and CASP12.Conclusion:Treatment with simvastatin suppressed atherosclerotic calcification.This effect may be mediated through the inhibition of ERS-related apoptosis. | Jianhua Li Libo Zhao Zhe Zhou Lin Liu Xiao Zou Weihao Xu Li Fan Muyang Yan Shengqi Wang | 2022 | Cardiology Discovery2022,2,4: | 0 |
