| 1 | Spatial patterns of ecosystem vulnerability changes during 2001–2011 in the three-river source region of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, China显示文摘The three-river source region(TRSR, including Yangtze, Yellow and Lancang rivers), located in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, China, is a typical alpine zone with apparent ecosystem vulnerability and sensitivity. In this paper, we introduced many interdisciplinary factors, such as landscape pattern indices(Shannon diversity index and Shannon evenness index) and extreme climate factors(number of extreme high temperature days, number of extreme low temperature days, and number of extreme precipitation days), to establish a new model for evaluating the spatial patterns of ecosystem vulnerability changes in the TRSR. The change intensity(CI) of ecosystem vulnerability was also analyzed. The results showed that the established evaluation model was effective and the ecosystem vulnerability in the whole study area was intensive. During the study period of 2001–2011, there was a slight degradation in the eco-environmental quality. The Yellow River source region had the best eco-environmental quality, while the Yangtze River source region had the worst one. In addition, the zones dominated by deserts were the most severely deteriorated areas and the eco-environmental quality of the zones occupied by evergreen coniferous forests showed a better change. Furthermore, the larger the change rates of the climate factors(accumulative temperature of ≥10°C and annual average precipitation) are, the more intensive the CI of ecosystem vulnerability is. | 2 | A model for parameter estimation of multistage centrifugal compressor and compressor performance analysis using genetic algorithm显示文摘A model for performance prediction of multistage centrifugal compressor is proposed.The model allows the users to predict the compressor performance,e.g.pressure ratio,efficiency and losses using the compressor geometric information and speed by a stage stacking calculation based on the characteristics of each stage.To develop the compressor elemental stage characteristics,the compressor losses,such as incidence losses and friction losses,are mathematically modeled.For a composite systems,for instance a gas turbine power plant,the performance of the multistage centrifugal compressor can be evaluated.Since some important parameters of the compressor model,e.g.,the slip factor,shock loss coefficient and reference diameter D1,are hard to be determined by empirical laws,a genetic algorithm(GA) is used to solve the parameter estimation problem of the proposed model,and in turn the compressor performance analysis and parameters study are performed.The surge line for the multistage centrifugal compressor can also be determined from the simulation results.Furthermore,the model presented here provides a valuable tool for evaluating the multistage centrifugal compressor performance as a function of various operation parameters. | CHU Fei WANG FuLi WANG XiaoGang ZHANG ShuNing | 2012 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,11: | 8 |
| 3 | Pollen record from red clay sequence in the central Loess Plateau between 8.10 and 2.60Ma显示文摘The Late Miocene and Pliocene are the key periods for understanding the origin and development of the present Asian monsoon circulations and ecologic environ-ments. Here we present a pollen record from Chaona Red Clay section located in the central Loess Plateau in attempt to establish the histories of vegetation and associated climate changes between 8.10 and 2.60 Ma. Our results show that Gramineae-dominated woodland-grasslands developed in this region with Cedrus- and Pinus-characterized montane coniferous forests distributing in higher elevations from 8.10 to 6.73 Ma, probably suggesting a semi-humid climate in a warm-temperate zone. A subsequent expansion of Ulmus- dominated deciduous forests and a synchronous increase of Gramineae-dominated grassland reflect a warmer and more humid climate between 6.73 and 5.67 Ma. The vegetation changed to an Artemisia- and Gramineae-characterized steppe in lower elevations and to a coniferous forest in higher elevations from 5.67 to 3.71 Ma, implying probably a warm and semiarid climate in lowland and hill, and a colder and moister climate in mountain. During this period, a consider-able warmer and more humid climate occurred between 4.61 and 4.07 Ma as indicated by pollen assemblages. | 5 | Dosimetric evaluation of VMAT radiation therapy technique for breast cancer after conservative surgery based on three different types of multileaf collimators显示文摘Objective Radiotherapy combined with conservative surgery plays an important role in the treatment of early-stage breast cancer. Volumetric modulated arc therapy(VMAT) has been introduced into clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to investigate the dosimetric effects of different multileaf collimators(MLC) on VMAT radiotherapy plans for treating breast cancer.Methods Fifteen breast cancer patients who were treated using a conventional technique in our department were selected to participate in this retrospective analysis. VMAT plans based on three types of Elekta MLCs [Beam Modulator(BM) with 4-mm leaf width, Agility with 5-mm leaf width and MLCi2 with 10-mm leaf width] were independently generated for each patient. Plan comparisons were performed based on dose-volume histogram(DVH) analysis including dosimetric parameters such as the homogeneity index(HI), conformity index(CI), Dmax, Dmin, and Dmean for the planning treatment volume(PTV), in addition to dose-volume parameters for the organs at risk(OARs). The delivery efficiency of the three types of MLCs was compared in terms of the beam delivery time and the monitor units(MUs) per fraction for each plan. Results Both target uniformity and conformity were improved in plans for Agility and BM MLC compared with the plan using MLCi2. The mean HI decreased from 1.14 for MLCi2 to 1.13 for BM and 1.10 for Agility, while the mean CI increased from 0.68 for MLCi2 to 0.73 for BM and 0.75 for Agility. Furthermore, at both low and high dose levels, smaller volumes of ipsilateral lung, heart, contralateral lung, and breast were irradiated with Agility MLC than with the other two types of MLCs. | 6 | Preparation of microbial desulfurization catalysts显示文摘A Rhodococcus sp. lawq, a bacterium isolated from the soil cleaving the C-S bond of dibenzothiophene (DBT) via specific pathway, was investigated for cell growth and for its role in desulfurization. Clearly, the end product, 2-hydroxybiphenyl, inhibited the growth of the strain, the synthesis of the desulfurization enzymes, and the activity of the enzymes. The effects of sulfate on the DBT degradation enzymes were examined in the Rhodococcus sp. lawq growth system with DBT; the sulfate served, concurrently, as the sulfur source. The condition of the resting cells that were used in desulfurization, was also studied. The optimal concentration of the resting cells and the reaction conditions were determined. | 8 | Online complex nonlinear industrial process operating optimality assessment using modified robust total kernel partial M-regression显示文摘Although industrial processes often perform perfectly under design conditions, they may deviate from the optimal operating point owing to parameters drift, environmental disturbances, etc. Thus, it is necessary to develop efficacious strategies or procedure to assess the process performance online. In this paper, we explore the issue of operating optimality assessment for complex industrial processes based on performance-similarity considering nonlinearities and outliers simultaneously, and a general enforced online performance assessment framework is proposed. In the offline part, a new and modified total robust kernel projection to latent structures algorithm,T-KPRM, is proposed and used to evaluate the complex nonlinear industrial process, which can effectively extract the optimal-index-related process variation information from process data and establish assessment models for each performance grades overcoming the effects of outlier. In the online part, the online assessment results can be obtained by calculating the similarity between the online data from a sliding window and each of the performance grades. Furthermore, in order to improve the accuracy of online assessment, we propose an online assessment strategy taking account of the effects of noise and process uncertainties. The Euclidean distance between the sliding data window and the optimal evaluation level is employed to measure the contribution rates of variables, which indicate the possible reason for the non-optimal operating performance. | 11 | RNA-binding protein QKI regulates contact inhibition via Yes-associate protein in ccRCC显示文摘Contact inhibition adjusts organ size to the proper size and ensures the cultured cells growing to a monolayer.By regulating the downstream coordinator YAP,the evolutionarily conserved Hippo transduction pathway attunes cell growth and death in response to cell contact inhibition,polarity,self-renewal,and differentiation.Dysregulation of this pathway is involved in various diseases such as cancer.RNA-binding protein QKI regulates cell proliferation,metabolism,division,and immunity in various cancer models,but its role in cancer cell contact inhibition remains unclear.In this study,we aimed to clarify the relationship between QKI and YAP,and the role of their interaction in cell contact inhibition.We found a lower QKI expression level in sparse condition,whereas a higher expression level in confluent condition by western blot analysis and immunofluorescence assay.QKI knockdown elevated cell proliferation and invasion both in vitro and in vivo.Strikingly,the results of CCK-8 assay,colony formation assay,and transwell assay showed that the phenomenon was in accord with the expression level of pYAP and reverse with YAP.Higher levels of Wnt3a and β-catenin were also found in xenografts of QKI-knockdown clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) CAKI-1 cells by western blot analysis and immumohistochemical staining.Finally,a positive correlation between QKI and pYAP was found in clinical specimens by immunohistochemistry.Thus,as a negative regulator of YAP,QKI attuned the cell contact inhibition,leading to inhibition of cancer cell proliferation and invasion through Wnt and GPCR pathway. | Zheng Zhu Di Wei Xi'an Li Fuli Wang Fei Yan Zibao Xing Zhao Yan Huanyu Lu Dongsheng Zhai Ziehen Ye Geng Zhang Ping Meng Yu Zheng Jiarui Yuan Zifan Lu Jianlin Yuan | 2019 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2019,51,1: | 2 |

| 20 | On the measurements of individual particle properties via compression and crushing显示文摘An experimental study is presented to measure the elastic,yielding,and crushing properties of individual particles under compression using substrates made of aluminum alloy,stainless steel,and sapphire.Carefully selected,highly spherical individual Ottawa sand particles of 0.75e1.1 mm in nominal diameter were compressed between two smooth substrates,and the loadedeformation curves were analyzed by Hertz elastic contact theory to derive their reduced modulus and Young’s modulus as well as yielding and crushing strengths,which vary significantly with the type of substrate materials.Further analysis of the yielding and plastic deformation at the particle-substrate contact shows that the yield strength or hardness of the substrate materials dominates the local contact behavior and hence affects the measured apparent yielding and crushing strengths.The two softer substrates(aluminum alloy and stainless steel)actually lead to underestimated apparent shear yield strengths of quartz particles by 60.4%and 54.2%,respectively,which are actually the yielding of substrates,while the true particle yielding occurs in the sapphire-particle contact.Moreover,the two softer substrates cause much overestimated crushing strengths of the quartz particles by 50.4%and 36.4%,respectively.Selection of inappropriate substrate materials and inappropriate interpretation of the particle-substrate contact can lead to significant errors in the measured yielding and crushing strengths.It is recommended that single particle compression testing uses substrates with yield strength greater than that of the tested particles and result interpretation also considers the elastic and yielding behaviors of the substrates. | Chunlong Liu Fengyin Liu Jinliang Song Fuli Ma Dongfang Wang Guoping Zhang | 2021 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2021,13,2: | 1 |
