| 1 | Kidney exchange transplantation current status, an update and future perspectives显示文摘Kidney exchange transplantation is well established modality to increase living donor kidney transplantation. Reasons for joining kidney exchange programs are ABO blood group incompatibility, immunological inco-mpatibility(positive cross match or donor specific antibody), human leukocyte antigen(HLA) incompa-tibility(poor HLA matching), chronological incompa-tibility and financial incompatibility. Kidney exchange transplantation has evolved from the traditional si-multaneous anonymous 2-way kidney exchange to more complex ways such as 3-way exchange, 4-way exchange, n -way exchange,compatible pair, non-simult-aneous kidney exchange,non-simultaneous extended altruistic donor, never ending altruistic donor, kidney exchange combined with desensitization, kidney ex-change combined with ABO incompatible kidney tr-ansplantation, acceptable mismatch transplant, use of A2 donor to O patients, living donor-deceased donor list exchange, domino chain, non-anonymous kidney exchange, single center, multicenter, regional, National, International and Global kidney exchange. Here we discuss recent advances in kidney exchanges such as International kidney exchange transplantation in a gl-obal environment, three categories of advanced dona-tion program, deceased donors as a source of chain initiating kidneys, donor renege myth or reality, pros and cons of anonymity in developed world and(non-) anonymity in developing world, pros and cons of donor travel vs kidney transport, algorithm for management of incompatible donor-recipient pairs and pros and cons of Global kidney exchange. The participating transplant teams and donor-recipient pairs should make the decision by consensus about kidney donor travel vskidney transport and anonymity vs non-anonymity in allocation as per local resources and logistics. The analysis shows that the proposed structure works as a perfect mirror within a certain frequency range. These frequency ranges can be completely controlled by the permittivity profile of a graded dielectric layer. The dispersion relation is derived by using the transfer matrix method and the boundary conditions based on electromagnetic theory. The dispersion curves are plotted for both the normal photonic band gap structure and the absorption photonic band gap structure. | 15 | Long-term outcomes of pediatric liver transplantation in acute liver failure vs end-stage chronic liver disease:A retrospective observational study显示文摘BACKGROUND Children with acute liver failure(ALF)who meet the criteria are eligible for super-urgent transplantation,whereas children with end-stage chronic liver disease(ESCLD)are usually transplanted electively.Pediatric liver transplantation(PLT)in ALF and ESCLD settings has been well described in the literature,but there are no studies comparing the outcomes in these two groups.AIM To determine if there is a difference in post-operative complications and survival outcomes between ALF and ESCLD in PLT.METHODS This was a retrospective observational study of all primary PLTs performed at a single center between 2000 and 2019.ALF and ESCLD groups were compared for pretransplant recipient,donor and operative parameters,and post-operative outcomes including graft and patient survival.RESULTS Over a 20-year study period,232 primary PLTs were performed at our center;195 were transplanted for ESCLD and 37 were transplanted for ALF.The ALF recipients were significantly older(median 8 years vs 5.4 years;P=0.031)and heavier(31 kg vs 21 kg;P=0.011).Living donor grafts were used more in the ESCLD group(34 vs 0;P=0.006).There was no difference between the two groups concerning vascular complications and rejection,but there were more bile leaks in the ESCLD group.Post-transplant patient survival was significantly higher in the ESCLD group:1-,5-,and 10-year survival rates were 97.9%,93.9%,and 89.4%,respectively,compared to 78.3%,78.3%,and 78.3%in the ALF group(P=0.007).However,there was no difference in 1-,5-,and 10-year graft survival between the ESCLD and ALF groups(90.7%,82.9%,77.3%vs 75.6%,72.4%,and 66.9%;P=0.119).CONCLUSION Patient survival is inferior in ALF compared to ESCLD recipients;the main reason is death in the 1st year post-PLT in ALF group.Once the ALF children overcome the 1st year after transplant,their survival stabilizes,and they have good long-term outcomes. | Amr M Alnagar Abdul R Hakeem Khaled Daradka Eirini Kyrana Marumbo Methga KarthikeyanPalaniswamy Sanjay Rajwal Jamila Mulla Moira O'meara Vivek Upasani Dhakshinamoorthy Vijayanand Raj Prasad Magdy S Attia | 2023 | World Journal of Transplantation2023,13,3: | 1 |

| 19 | Biocontrol potential of entomopathogenic nematode,Heterorhabditis indica against pink bollworm,Pectinophora gossypiella(Saunders)(Lepidoptera:Gelechiidae)显示文摘Background The emergence of pink bollworm(PBW),Pectinophora gossypiella(Saunders)(Lepidoptera:Gelechiidae),in cotton due to Bt resistance and concealed feeding habit has created a need for alternative,eco-friendly,and cost-effective control methods.This study aimed to evaluate the bio-efficacy and reproductive potential of two native strains of entomopathogenic nematodes(EPNs),Heterorhabditis indica,namely CICR-HI-CL and CICR-HI-MN,against PBW larvae and pupae under in-vitro conditions.Results The larval assay revealed that strain CICR-HI-CL exhibited higher potency than strain CICR-HI-MN against 2nd,3rd,and 4thinstar larvae,with median lethal dose(LD50)values of 5.45,4.45,and 4.60 infective juveniles(IJs)per larva,respectively.In case of pupal bioassay,both EPN strains demonstrated greater virulence when applied directly(LD50values:29.65 and 73.88 IJs per pupa for strains CICR-HI-CL and CICR-HI-MN,respectively)compared to soil application(147.84 and 272.38 IJs per pupa).Both EPN strains successfully penetrated and reproduced on 4thinstar larvae,resulting in maximum production of 19.28 and 20.85 lakh IJs per larva in the next generation when inoculated at 30 IJs per larva.Conclusion The present study has generated useful information on the virulence and reproductive potential of two strains of EPN H.indica(CICR-HI-CL and CICR-HI-MN)against PBW,a dreaded pest of cotton.Higher virulence and reproductive potential of EPN strains demonstrated their ability to multiply,sustain and perpetuate on larval and pupal stages of PBW.The knowledge generated will help formulate effective management strategies for PBW with the inclusion of EPN as a potential biological control candidate.The soil-dwelling life stages viz.,last instar hibernating larvae and pupae of PBW can be the ideal weak links to make a successful use of H.indica for sustainable management of PBW in the cotton ecosystem.However,before taking these EPN strains to field for managing PBW,detailed studies investigating their biocontrol potential against PBW under field conditions are needed. | THUBE Shivaji SHINDE Swati SHAH Vivek GOKTE‑NARKHEDKAR Nandini INGOLE Dnyaneshwar NIKOSHE Akash TENGURI Prabhulinga THAVKAR Snehal FAND Babasaheb DESHMUKH Vrushali PRASAD Yenumula | 2023 | Journal of Cotton Research2023,6,4: | 0 |
| 20 | Engineering of dielectric composites on electromagnetic and microwave absorbing properties for operation in the X-band显示文摘In this study,carbon black(CB)powder-loaded polyurethane(PU)composites(CB-PU composites)were prepared by melt mixing method with different volume percentages(45,50,55,58 and 61 vol.%)of CB in the PU matrix.The prepared CB-PU composites had been further studied for surface morphology using the field-emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM)technique.Dielectric properties in terms of real permittivity(ε′)and imaginary permittivity(ε′′)of the fabricated composites were computed using an Agilent E8364B vector network analyzer in the frequency range of 8-12 GHz(X-band).Dielectric loss factor of the prepared CB-PU composites was computed in terms of the dielectric loss tangent(tanδ_(e)=ε′′/ε′).Microwave absorbing properties were appraised in terms of the reflection loss(RL)which in turn was calculated for varying thicknesses of the prepared composites from the measured real and imaginary permittivity data.The minimum RL was observed as−20.10 dB for the absorber with a thickness of 2.2 mm and the bandwidth achieved was 1.92 GHz for RL≤−10 dB.Based on the above results these CB-PU composites have potential use as effective microwave absorbers in 8-12-GHz(X-band)frequency range. | Bhoopendra Singh Vivek Pratap Mohit Katiyar S.M.Abbas Y.K.Sharma A.M.Siddiqui N.Eswara Prasad | 2021 | Journal of Advanced Dielectrics2021,11,1: | 0 |
