2A new species of the genus Crocidura from China based on molecular and morphological data(Eulipotyphla: Soricidae)显示文摘A new species of white-toothed shrew,Crocidura anhuiensis Zhang,Zhang&Li,sp.nov.is described from Mount Huang,China.Genetic sequence(mt DNA Cyt b gene)and morphological(external and skull)data are used to distinguish this newly discovered species.The phylogenetic analysis shows that the materials of this work are monophyletic and allied to C.attenuata by the uncorrected genetic distance 4.9–5.1%,which suggests a species-level divergence.Morphologically,the materials are different from C.attenuata by presenting a greater proportion of tail-to-body ratio and the presence of an obvious tooth root in the mandible.Based on those data,the unnamed species is described as a new species which is currently known only from the Wild Monkey Valley,Mount Huang,Anhui Province,China.Heng Zhang Guiyou Wu Yanqing Wu Jianfei Yao Shuo You Chencheng Wang Feng Cheng Jingjing Chen Mingxia Tang Chunlin Li Baowei Zhang 2019Zoological Systematics2019,44,4:5

5Heterologous expression of Hp BHY and Cr BKT increases heat tolerance in Physcomitrella patens显示文摘Heat stress can restrict plant growth,development,and crop yield.As essential plant antioxidants,carotenoids play significant roles in plant stress resistance.b-carotene hydroxylase(BHY)and b-carotene ketolase(BKT),which catalyze the conversions of b-carotene to zeaxanthin and b-carotene to canthaxanthin,respectively,are key enzymes in the carotenoid biosynthetic pathway,but little is known about their potential functions in stress resistance.Here,we investigated the roles of b-carotene hydroxylase and b-carotene ketolase during heat stress in Physcomitrella patens through expressing a b-carotene ketolase gene from Chlamydomonas reinhardtii(Cr BKT)and a b-carotene hydroxylase gene from Haematococcus pluvialis(Hp BHY)in the moss P.patens.In transgenic moss expressing these genes,carotenoids content increased(especially lutein content),and heat stress tolerance increased,with reduced leafy tissue necrosis.To investigate the mechanism of this heat stress resistance,we measured various physiological indicators and found a lower malondialdehyde level,higher peroxidase and superoxide dismutase activities,and higher endogenous abscisic acid and salicylate content in the transgenic plants in response to high-temperature stress.These results demonstrate that Cr BKT and Hp BHY increase plant heat stress resistance through the antioxidant and damage repair metabolism,which is related to abscisic acid and salicylate signaling.Jianfang He Ping Li Heqiang Huo Lina Liu Ting Tang Mingxia He Junchao Huang Li Liu 2019Plant Diversity2019,41,4:2

13Developing allometric equations to estimate forest biomass for tree species categories based on phylogenetic relationships显示文摘The development of allometric biomass models is important process in biomass estimation because the reliability of forest biomass and carbon estimations largely depends on the accuracy and precision of such models.National Forest Inventories(NFI)are detailed assessments of forest resources at national and regional levels that provide valuable data for forest biomass estimation.However,the lack of biomass allometric equations for each tree species in the NFI currently hampers the estimation of national-scale forest biomass.The main objective of this study was to develop allometric biomass regression equations for each tree species in the NFI of China based on limited biomass observations.These equations optimally grouped NFI and biomass observation species according to their phylogenetic relationships.Significant phylogenetic signals demonstrated phylogenetic conservation of the crown-to-stem biomass ratio.Based on phylogenetic relationships,we grouped and matched NFI and biomass observation species into 22 categories.Allometric biomass regression models were developed for each of these 22 species categories,and the models performed successfully(R^(2)=0.97,root mean square error(RMSE)=12.9​t·ha^(–1),relative RMSE=11.5%).Furthermore,we found that phylogeny-based models performed more effectively than wood density-based models.The results suggest that grouping species based on their phylogenetic relationships is a reliable approach for the development and selection of accurate allometric equations.Mingxia Yang Xiaolu Zhou Changhui Peng Tong Li Kexin Chen Zelin Liu Peng Li Cicheng Zhang Jiayi Tang Ziying Zou 2023Forest Ecosystems2023,10,4:0

15Adsorption of trichlorphon on phyllosilicate minerals:Effect of low-molecular-weight organic acids显示文摘The use of trichlorphon in large quantities causes a large number of organic pollutants to enter water, sediments, and soils. Phyllosilicate minerals are considered effective adsorbents for organic pollutants. However, the adsorption behavior of organic pollutants on soil minerals affected by low-molecular-weight organic acids(LMWOAs) is not fully understood. In this study, the effect of LMWOAs on the adsorption behavior of trichlorphon on phyllosilicate minerals was investigated using a combination of adsorption measurements and molecular spectroscopic techniques(attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(ATR-FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)). The adsorption of trichlorphon onto kaolinite(KAO) and montmorillonite(MON) was suppressed by increasing pH, indicating that electrostatic interaction played a key role in adsorption, especially at low pH. In the presence of citric acid(CA), there was an obvious promotion of trichlorphon adsorption on KAO and MON. In the presence of oxalic acid(OA), the adsorption of trichlorphon on KAO was promoted, whereas the adsorption on MON was inhibited, especially at pH 4.0. The presence of CA and OA increased the adsorption by increasing the exposure of hydrophobic sites of KAO and MON. The results from ATR-FTIR and XPS also indicated that the hydrophobic Si–O sites of phyllosilicate minerals were the preferred adsorption sites for trichlorphon in the presence of CA and OA, probably driven by the hydrophobic effect. However, the weak effect of OA on MON caused an increase in the electrostatic repulsion between MON and trichlorphon molecules, thus inhibiting adsorption.
