1role of the normal gut microbiota显示文摘Relation between the gut microbiota and human health is being increasingly recognised. It is now well established that a healthy gut flora is largely responsible for overall health of the host. The normal human gut microbiota comprises of two major phyla, namely Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes. Though the gut microbiota in an infant appears haphazard, it starts resembling the adult flora by the age of 3 years. Nevertheless, there exist temporal and spatial variations in the microbial distribution from esophagus to the rectum all along the individual's life span. Developments in genome sequencing technologies and bioinformatics have now enabled scientists to study these microorganisms and their function and microbehost interactions in an elaborate manner both in health and disease. The normal gut microbiota imparts specific function in host nutrient metabolism, xenobiotic and drug metabolism, maintenance of structural integrity of the gut mucosal barrier, immunomodulation, and protection against pathogens. Several factors play a role in shaping the normal gut microbiota. They include(1) the mode of delivery(vaginal or caesarean);(2) diet during infancy(breast milk or formula feeds) and adulthood(vegan based or meat based); and(3) use of antibiotics or antibiotic like molecules that are derived from the environment or the gut commensal community. 3利用单片段代换系定位水稻粒形QTL显示文摘目的水稻谷粒形状(粒长、粒宽和长宽比)是衡量稻米外观品质的重要指标之一,为更好地开展粒形分子育种,对水稻粒形QTL进行分子定位。方法以单片段代换系(SSSL)为材料构建分离群体,利用微卫星标记对控制水稻谷粒长和谷粒宽的2个粒形QTL进行分子定位。结果粒宽QTLGw-8被定位于第8染色体长臂末端微卫星标记RM502与RM447之间,遗传距离均为0.3cM。在此基础上构建了覆盖Gw-8的物理图谱,RM502与RM447位于同一克隆AP005529,两者之间的物理距离为55.0kb。粒长QTLgl-3被定位于第3染色体着丝粒附近的微卫星标记RM6146和PSM377之间,遗传距离分别为1.5cM和11.0cM。结论利用单片段代换系能准确地定位水稻粒形QTL,这两个粒形QTL的定位为其克隆及稻米外观品质的分子育种奠定了基础。曾瑞珍 Akshay TALUKDAR 刘芳 张桂权 2006中国农业科学2006,39,4:54
4利用单片段代换系定位水稻抽穗期QTL显示文摘抽穗期是水稻品种的重要农艺性状之一,对抽穗期QTL进行定位并研究其遗传效应在水稻育种中是至关重要的。本研究利用以6个水稻品种为供体的52个单片段代换系为试验材料,通过t测验比较单片段代换系与受体亲本华粳籼74之间抽穗期的差异,对代换片段上的抽穗期QTL进行了鉴定。以P≤0.001为阈值共鉴定出20个抽穗期QTL,这些QTL分布于水稻的10条染色体。QTL加性效应值为–5.9~1.1,加性效应百分率为–7.4%~1.4%。有8个QTL被定位在小于10.0cM的区段内。利用1个单片段代换系与华粳籼74杂交发展的F2群体对qHD-3-1进行了定位。在作图群体中,早抽穗和迟抽穗植株数符合3:1的分离比,早抽穗表现为显性。利用微卫星标记将qHD-3-1定位于3号染色体短臂,PSM304和RM569分别位于其两侧,遗传距离分别为2.4cM和5.1cM。何风华 席章营 曾瑞珍 Akshay Talukdar 张桂权 2005中国农业科学2005,38,8:41
5Pancreatic stellate cell: Pandora's box for pancreatic disease biology显示文摘Pancreatic stellate cells(PSCs) were identified in the early 1980 s, but received much attention after 1998 when the methods to isolate and culture them from murine and human sources were developed. PSCs contribute to a small proportion of all pancreatic cells under physiological condition, but are essential for maintaining the normal pancreatic architecture. Quiescent PSCs are characterized by the presence of vitamin A laden lipid droplets. Upon PSC activation, these perinuclear lipid droplets disappear from the cytosol, attain a myofibroblast like phenotype and expresses the activation marker, alpha smooth muscle actin. PSCs maintain their activated phenotype via an autocrine loop involving different cytokines and contribute to progressive fibrosis in chronic pancreatitis(CP) and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC). Several pathways(e.g., JAK-STAT, Smad, Wnt signaling, Hedgehog etc.), transcription factors and mi RNAs have been implicated in the inflammatory and profibrogenic function of PSCs. The role of PSCs goes much beyond fibrosis/desmoplasia in PDAC. It is now shown that PSCs are involved in significant crosstalk between the pancreatic cancer cells and the cancer stroma. These interactions result in tumour progression, metastasis, tumour hypoxia, immune evasion and drug resistance. 9Identification of QTLs for Plant Height and Its Components by Using Single Segment Substitution Lines in Rice (Oryza sativa)显示文摘QTLs for plant height and its components on the substituted segments of fifty-two single segment substitution lines (SSSLs) in rice were identified through t-test (P≤0.001) for comparison between each SSSL and recipient parent Huajingxian 74. On the 14 substituted segments, 24 QTLs were detected, 10 for plant height, 2 for panicle length, 4 for length of the first internode from the top, 5 for length of the second internode from the top and 3 for length of the third internode from the top, respectively. All these QTLs were distributed on nine rice chromosomes except chromosomes 5, 9 and 11. 10Role of endoscopic ultrasound during hospitalization for acute pancreatitis显示文摘Endoscopic ultrasound(EUS)is often used to detect the cause of acute pancreatitis(AP)after the acute attack has subsided.The limited data on its role during hospitalization for AP are reviewed here.The ability of EUS to visualize the pancreas and bile duct,the sonographic appearance of the pancreas,correlation of such appearance to clinical outcomes and the impact on AP management are analyzed from studies.The most important indication for EUS appears to be for detection of suspected common bile duct and/or gall bladder stones and microlithiasis.Such an approach might avoid diagnostic endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography with its known complications.The use of EUS during hospitalization for AP still appears to be infrequent but may become more frequent in future.Vikram Kotwal Rupjyoti Talukdar Michael Levy Santhi Swaroop Vege 2010World Journal of Gastroenterology2010,16,39:6
11Peripancreatic collections in acute pancreatitis: Correlation between computerized tomography and operative fi ndings显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the ability of contrast-enhanced computerized tomography (CECT) to characterize the nature of peripancreatic collections.METHODS: Twenty five patients with peripancreatic collections on CECT and who underwent operative intervention for severe acute pancreatitis were retrospectively studied. The collections were classified into (1) necrosis without frank pus; (2) necrosis with pus; and (3) fluid without necrosis. A blinded radiologist assessed the preoperative CTs of each patient for necrosis and peripancreatic fluid collections. Peripancreatic collections were described in terms of volume, location, number, heterogeneity, fluid attenuation, wall perceptibility, wall enhancement, presence of extraluminal gas, and vascular compromise.RESULTS: Fifty-four collections were identif ied at operation, of which 45 (83%) were identif ied on CECT. Of these, 25/26 (96%) had necrosis without pus, 16/19 (84%) had necrosis with pus, and 4/9 (44%) had fluid without necrosis. Among the study characteristics, fluid heterogeneity was seen in a greater proportion of collections in the group with necrosis and pus, compared to the other two groups (94% vs 48% and 25%, P = 0.002 and 0.003, respectively). Among the wall characteristics, irregularity was seen in a greater proportion of collections in the groups with necrosis with and without pus, when compared to the group with fluid without necrosis (88% and 71% vs 25%, P = 0.06 and P < 0.01, respectively). The combination of heterogeneity and presence of extraluminal gas had a specif icity and positive likelihood ratio of 92% and 5.9, respectively, in detecting pus. CONCLUSION: Most of the peripancreatic collections seen on CECT in patients with severe acute pancreatitis who require operative intervention contain necrotic tissue. 12Identification of Multiple Alleles at the Wx Locus and Development of Single Segment Substitution Lines for the Alleles in Rice显示文摘The microsatellite markers 484/485 and 484/W2R were used to identify the multiple alleles at the Wx locus in rice germplasm. Fifteen alleles were identified in 278 accessions by using microsatellite class and G-T polymorphism. Among these alleles, (CT)12-G, (CT)15-G, (CT)16-G, (CT)17-G, (CT)18-G and (CT)21-G have not been reported. Seventy-two single-segment substitution lines (SSSLs) carrying different alleles at the Wx locus were developed by using Huajingxian 74 with the (CT)11-G allele as a recipient and 20 accessions containing 12 different alleles at the Wx locus as donors. 13Novel synthesis and characterization of CuO nanomaterials:Biological applications显示文摘CuO nanoparticles were synthesized at a relatively low temperature(80 ℃) for 2 h using polyethylene glycol-glycerol mixture which acts as a capping agent.A detailed characterization of the synthesized nanomaterials were performed utilizing X-ray diffraction(XRD),infra-red spectroscopy(IR),thermogravimetric analysis(TGA-DTA),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),photoluminescence(PL) by studying its crystalline phase,vibrational mode,thermal analysis,morphology and photoluminescence properties.The effect of annealing on the as-prepared nanoparticles were studied and compared with their corresponding bulk counterpart.The synthesized nanoparticles have been screened for in vitro cytotoxicity(1C_(50)) studies against the human cervical adenocarcinoma cell line(HeLa) using WITT assay methods.The as-prepared nanoparticle inhibits the proliferation of this HeLa cell.The standard disc diffusion method has been used to study the antibacterial activity of the samples against the human pathogenic bacteria Escherichia coli(MTCC 729),Proteus mirabilis(MTCC 425) and Klebsiella pneumoniae subsp.pneumoniae(MTCC 432).The results have been compared with the positive control antibiotic gentamycin.The synthesized nanoparticles would provide a potential alternative to antibiotics for controlling some of the microorganisms causing urolithiasis.Ayekpam Bimolini Devi Dinesh Singh Moirangthem Narayan Chandra Talukdar M.Damayanti Devi N.Rajen Singh Meitram Niraj Luwang 2014Chinese Chemical Letters2014,25,12:4
14Correlating mode-I fracture toughness and mechanical properties of heat-treated crystalline rocks显示文摘For the effect of thermal treatment on the mode-I fracture toughness(FT), three crystalline rocks(two basalts and one tonalite) were experimentally investigated. Semi-circular bend specimens of the rocks were prepared following the method suggested by the International Society for Rock Mechanics(ISRM)and were treated at various temperatures ranging from room temperature(25 ℃) to 600 ℃. Mode-I FT was correlated with tensile strength(TS), ultrasonic velocities, and Young's modulus(YM). Additionally,petrographic and X-ray diffraction analyses were carried out to find the chemical changes resulting from the heat treatment. Further, scanning electron microscopy(SEM) was conducted to observe the micro structural changes when subjected to high temperatures. These experiments demonstrate that heat treatment has a strong negative impact on the FT and mechanical properties of the rocks. From room temperature to 600 ℃, mode-I FT values of massive basalt, giant plagioclase basalt, and tonalite were reduced by nearly 52%, 68%, and 64%, respectively. Also, at all temperature levels, FT and mechanical properties are found to be exponentially correlated. However, the exact nature of the relationship mainly depends on rock type. Besides, TS was found to be a better indicator of degradation degree than the mode-I FT. SEM images show that micro crack density and structural disintegration of the mineral grains increase with temperature. 15Fine needle aspiration diagnosis of isolated pancreatic tuberculosis: A case report显示文摘Tuberculosis(TB) involving the pancreas are uncommon, especially when present in immunocompetent hosts. Pancreatic TB is more frequently associated with miliary TB or widely disseminated disease. Pancreatic TB may present as cystic or solid pancreatic masses, pancreatic abscess or acute or chronic pancreatitis. Majority of the cases are diagnosed after surgical exploration for presumed pancreatic malignancy and preoperative diagnosis is quite difficult. However, improvement in imaging techniques and the resulting imageguided interventions gradually can obviate the need for more invasive diagnostic surgical procedures and expedite the planning of therapy. Herein, we report a rare case of isolated pancreatic TB which presented with pancreatic mass lesion in an immunocompetent host. Diagnosis was made by contrast enhanced computed tomography and guided fine needle aspiration of the pancreatic mass which revealed acid-fast bacillion Ziehl-Neelsen stain. The case was treated successfully with antituberculous drugs. Pancreatic tuberculosis should be considered in the differential diagnosis of a pancreatic mass when the patient is young, residing in the endemic zone of tuberculosis. 17Flood susceptibility modelling using advanced ensemble machine learning models显示文摘Floods are one of nature's most destructive disasters because of the immense damage to land,buildings,and human fatalities.It is difficult to forecast the areas that are vulnerable to flash flooding due to the dynamic and complex nature of the flash floods.Therefore,earlier identification of flash flood susceptible sites can be performed using advanced machine learning models for managing flood disasters.In this study,we applied and assessed two new hybrid ensemble models,namely Dagging and Random Subspace(RS)coupled with Artificial Neural Network(ANN),Random Forest(RF),and Support Vector Machine(SVM)which are the other three state-of-the-art machine learning models for modelling flood susceptibility maps at the Teesta River basin,the northern region of Bangladesh.The application of these models includes twelve flood influencing factors with 413 current and former flooding points,which were transferred in a GIS environment.The information gain ratio,the multicollinearity diagnostics tests were employed to determine the association between the occurrences and flood influential factors.For the validation and the comparison of these models,for the ability to predict the statistical appraisal measures such as Freidman,Wilcoxon signed-rank,and t-paired tests and Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve(ROC)were employed.The value of the Area Under the Curve(AUC)of ROC was above 0.80 for all models.For flood susceptibility modelling,the Dagging model performs superior,followed by RF,the ANN,the SVM,and the RS,then the several benchmark models.The approach and solution-oriented outcomes outlined in this paper will assist state and local authorities as well as policy makers in reducing flood-related threats and will also assist in the implementation of effective mitigation strategies to mitigate future damage.Abu Reza Md Towfiqul Islam Swapan Talukdar Susanta Mahato Sonali Kundu Kutub Uddin Eibek Quoc Bao Pham Alban Kuriqi Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh 2021Geoscience Frontiers2021,12,3:2
