| 1 | Thermal energy storage:Challenges and the role of particle technology显示文摘Thermal energy is at the heart of the whole energy chain providing a main linkage between the primary and secondary energy sources.Thermal energy storage(TES)has a pivotal role to play in the energy chain and hence in future low carbon economy.However,a competitive TES technology requires a number of scientific and technological challenges to be addressed including TES materials,TES components and devices,and integration of TES devices with energy networks and associated dynamic optimization.This paper provides a perspective of TES technology with a focus on TES materials challenges using molten salts based phase change materials for medium and high temperature applications.Two key challenges for the molten salt based TES materials are chemical incompatibility and low thermal conductivity.The use of composite materials provides an avenue to meeting the challenges.Such composite materials consist of a phase change material,a structural supporting material,and a thermal conductivity enhancement material.The properties of the supporting material could determine the dispersion of the thermal conductivity enhancement material in the salt.A right combination of the salt,the structural supporting material,and the thermal conductivity enhancement material could give a hierarchical structure that is able to encapsulate the molten salt and give a substantial enhancement in the thermal conductivity.Understanding of the structure-property relationships for the composite is essential for the formulation design and fabrication of the composite materials.Linking materials properties to the system level performance is recommended as a key future direction of research. | Zhiwei Ge Yongliang Li Dacheng Li Ze Sun Yi Jin Chuanping Liu Chuan Li Guanghui Leng Yulong Ding | 2014 | Particuology2014,12,4: | 20 |
| 2 | Jianpijiedu Fang improves survival of hepatocarcinoma mice by affecting phosphatase and tensin homolog, phosphoinositide 3-kinase, and focal adhesion kinase显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of Jianpijiedu Fang (JPJDF) on phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN), phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K), and focal adhesion kinase (FAK), and on the survival of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) nude mice. METHODS: Forty male nude mice were randomly divided into 4 groups. Human HCC tissue was implanted in the livers of three groups. After 24 h, the three groups were treated respectively with JPJDF (37.5 g/kg), saline (20 mL/kg) and Tegafur (FT-207, 160 mg/kg) once a day for 10 weeks. The control group without implanting the tissue was concurrently treated with saline (20 mL/kg). The survival data and body weight of all mice were recorded, and expression levels of PTEN, PI3K and FAK in normal tissue and cancer tissue of the livers were eval-uated with immunohistochemical method. RESULTS: The cumulative survival rate of the mice in the JPJDF group was higher than those of the other groups. The rate of weight loss was the lowest in JPJDF group. The survivability and weight loss rate in FT-207 group were the poorest in all groups. The expression intensity of PTEN was higher in normal tissues than in cancer tissues, and lower in the normal tissues of HCC models than in that of mice without HCC. The PTEN expression intensity in normal tissue and cancer tissue from mice treated with FT-207 were lower than that from the mice treated with JPJDF or saline.The expression intensity of PI3K was higher in cancer tissue than in normal tissue. The PI3K expression intensity was the lowest in normal tissue and cancer tissue from mice treated with JPJDF, and the intensity from mice treated with FT-207 was the highest. In mice treated with JPJDF, the expression intensity of FAK was higher in the normal tissue and lower in the cancer tissue than those of the other treatment groups. | 3 | High-performance PVDF-HFP based gel polymer electrolyte with a safe solvent in Li metal polymer battery显示文摘Poly(vinylidenefluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene)(PVDF-HFP)based gel polymer electrolytes are widely studied owing to their electrochemical stability and high dielectric constant.However,most gel polymer electrolytes show unsatisfied safety and interface compatibility due to excessive absorption of volatile and flammable liquid solvents.Herein,by using a safe solvent(N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone)with higher boiling(203℃)and flash points(95℃),we initiatively fabricate a flexible PVDF-HFP based gel polymer electrolyte.The obtained gel polymer electrolyte demonstrates a high ionic conductivity of 7.24×10^−4 S cm−1,an electrochemical window of 5.2 V,and a high lithium transference number of 0.57.As a result,the synthesized polymer electrolyte exhibits a capacity retention of 70%after 500 cycles at 0.5 C,and a discharge capacity of 86 mAh g−1 even at a high current rate of 10 C for LiFePO4 based Li metal batteries.Moreover,a stable Li plating/stripping for more than 500 h is achieved under 0.1 mAh at both room temperature and 70℃.Our results indicate that the PVDF-HFP polymer electrolyte is promising for manufacturing safe and high-performance Li metal polymer batteries. | Jing Jie Yulong Liu Lina Cong Bohao Zhang Wei Lu Xinming Zhang Jun Liu Haiming Xie Liqun Sun | 2020 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,10: | 10 |
| 4 | The status of exploitation techniques of natural gas hydrate显示文摘Natural gas hydrate(NGH)has been widely considered as an alternative form of energy with huge potential,due to its tremendous reserves,cleanness and high energy density.Several countries involving Japan,Canada,India and China have launched national projects on the exploration and exploitation of gas hydrate resources.At the beginning of this century,an early trial production of hydrate resources was carried out in Mallik permafrost region,Canada.Japan has conducted the first field test from marine hydrates in 2013,followed by another trial in 2017.China also made its first trial production from marine hydrate sediments in 2017.Yet the low production efficiency,ice/hydrate regeneration,and sand problems are still commonly encountered;the worldwide progress is far before commercialization.Up to now,many gas production techniques have been proposed,and a few of them have been adopted in the field production tests.Nevertheless,hardly any method appears really promising;each of them shows limitations at certain conditions.Therefore,further efforts should be made on the economic efficiency as well as sustainability and environmental impacts.In this paper,the investigations on NGH exploitation techniques are comprehensively reviewed,involving depressurization,thermal stimulation,chemical inhibitor injection,CO2–CH4 exchange,their combinations,and some novel techniques.The behavior of each method and its further potential in the field test are discussed.The advantages and limitations of laboratory studies are also analyzed.The work could give some guidance in the future formulation of exploitation scheme and evaluation of gas production behavior from hydrate reservoirs. | Lei Yang Yulong Liu Hanquan Zhang Bo Xiao Xianwei Guo Rupeng Wei Lei Xu Lingjie Sun Bin Yu Shudong Leng Yanghui Li | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2019,27,9: | 9 |
| 5 | Biomimetic injectable hydrogel microspheres with enhanced lubrication and controllable drug release for the treatment of osteoarthritis显示文摘The occurrence of osteoarthritis(OA)is highly associated with the reduced lubrication property of the joint,where a progressive and irreversible damage of the articular cartilage and consecutive inflammatory response dominate the mechanism.In this study,bioinspired by the super-lubrication property of cartilage and catecholamine chemistry of mussel,we successfully developed injectable hydrogel microspheres with enhanced lubrication and controllable drug release for OA treatment.Particularly,the lubricating microspheres(GelMA@DMA-MPC)were fabricated by dip coating a self-adhesive polymer(DMA-MPC,synthesized by free radical copolymerization)on superficial surface of photo-crosslinked methacrylate gelatin hydrogel microspheres(GelMA,prepared via microfluidic technology),and encapsulated with an anti-inflammatory drug of diclofenac sodium(DS)to achieve the dual-functional performance.The tribological test and drug release test showed the enhanced lubrication and sustained drug release of the GelMA@DMA-MPC microspheres.In addition,the functionalized microspheres were intra-articularly injected into the rat knee joint with an OA model,and the biological tests including qRT-PCR,immunofluorescence staining assay,X-ray radiography and histological staining assay all revealed that the biocompatible microspheres provided significant therapeutic effect against the development of OA.In summary,the injectable hydrogel microspheres developed herein greatly improved lubrication and achieved sustained local drug release,therefore representing a facile and promising technique for the treatment of OA. | Ying Han Jielai Yang Weiwei Zhao Haimang Wang Yulong Sun Yuji Chen Jing Luo Lianfu Deng Xiangyang Xu Wenguo Cui Hongyu Zhang | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,10: | 8 |

| 10 | Study on Quantitative Relationship between Surface Wettability and Frictional Coefficient of Liquid Flowing in a Turbulent Horizontal Pipe显示文摘This paper had investigated the effects of surface wettability on the frictional resistance of turbulent horizontal flow for tap water in five pipes made of various materials and four kinds of liquids in a polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) pipe,with the same inner diameter of 14 mm. Pressure drops were measured under different flow rates through an experimental flow loop. The contact angles and adhesion work of liquids in contact with pipe surfaces were determined using a contact angle meter. Based on the dimension and regression analyses, two kinds of modified relationships between the frictional coefficient and the surface wettability were established according to the measured results corresponding to tap water in five pipes and four liquids in PTFE pipe. The experimental results show that the surface wettability has some influence on frictional coefficient of the studied liquids flowing in macroscale pipes, and the frictional coefficient decreases with the increase of the contact angle at the same Reynolds number. Meanwhile the effect of wettability on the hydrophobic surface is greater than that on the hydrophilic one. | 12 | Distributed Information Flow Verification for Secure Service Composition in Smart Sensor Network显示文摘Accelerate processor, efficient software and pervasive connections provide sensor nodes with more powerful computation and storage ability, which can offer various services to user. Based on these atomic services, different sensor nodes can cooperate and compose with each other to complete more complicated tasks for user. However, because of the regional characteristic of sensor nodes, merging data with different sensitivities become a primary requirement to the composite services, and information flow security should be intensively considered during service composition. In order to mitigate the great cost caused by the complexity of modeling and the heavy load of single-node verification to the energy-limited sensor node, in this paper, we propose a new distributed verification framework to enforce information flow security on composite services of smart sensor network. We analyze the information flows in composite services and specify security constraints for each service participant. Then we propose an algorithm over the distributed verification framework involving each sensor node to participate in the composite service verification based on the security constraints. | 13 | Effects of free-air CO_2 enrichment on adventitious root development of rice under low and normal soil nitrogen levels显示文摘Free air CO2 enrichment(FACE) and nitrogen(N) have marked effects on rice root growth,and numerical simulation can explain these effects. To further define the effects of FACE on root growth of rice, an experiment was performed, using the hybrid indica cultivar Xianyou63. The effects of increasing atmospheric CO2 concentration [CO2], 200 μmol mol-1higher than ambient, on the growth of rice adventitious roots were evaluated, with two levels of N: low(LN, 125 kg ha-1) and normal(NN, 250 kg ha-1). The results showed a significant increase in both adventitious root number(ARN) and adventitious root length(ARL) under FACE treatment. The application of nitrogen also increased ARN and ARL, but these increases were smaller than that under FACE treatment. On the basis of the FACE experiment, numerical models for rice adventitious root number and length were constructed with time as the driving factor. The models illustrated the dynamic development of rice adventitious root number and length after transplanting, regulated either by atmospheric [CO2] or by N application.The simulation result was supported by statistical tests comparing experimental data from different years, and the model yields realistic predictions of root growth. | 15 | Li4-xSbxSn1-xS4 solid solutions for air-stable solid electrolytes显示文摘The sulfide solid electrolytes have the characteristics of high ionic conductivity and low grain boundary resistance, which make them suitable for bulk-type all-solid-state batteries. However, most of them suffer from poor stability in air. Here, we explore the air stable sulfide solid electrolytes in Li4-xSbxSn1-xS4 system. The solid solutions of Li4-xSbxSn1-xS4(0 ≤ x ≤ 0.5) can be formed in Li4-xSbxSn1-xS4 system. Li3.8 Sb0.2 Sn0.8 S4 achieves the highest ionic conductivity of 3.5 × 10-4 S cm-1 in this system,which is 5 times as that of Li4 Sn S4 and 3 orders of magnitude higher than that of Li3 Sb S4, respectively. Li3.8 Sb0.2 Sn0.8 S4 crystallizes into the same structure with high ionic conductivity phase of β-Li3 PS4. Moreover, Li3.8 Sb0.2 Sn0.8 S4 owns good stability in humid air. | 18 | Surface wettability and flow properties of non-metallic pipes in laminar flow显示文摘In this paper,three liquids flowing in five pipes with the same inner diameter of 14 mm were studied to determine the relationship between the surface wettability and flow properties in laminar flow(Re b 2000).This was motivated by oilfield observations of increased pressure drops in non-metallic pipes compared to those in metal pipes,which was contrary to expectations.A new expression for the frictional coefficient that considers the Reynolds number and contact angleθin laminar flow for non-metallic pipes was proposed based on the experimental results of single-phase flow using dimension and regression analyses.The solutions of the anomalous phenomenon were proposed from the perspectives of the pipe diameter,contact-angle difference,and the compatibility between flexible composite pipe and JLHW105 oil according to the new formula.The surprising finding was that the surface wettability could control the frictional resistance by the critical contact angle(39.9°)obtained at the same Reynolds number.If 0°bθ≤39.9°,the frictional coefficient increased as the contact angle increased.In contrast,if 39.9°bθb 180°,the frictional coefficient decreased with increasing contact angle.The influences of the pipe diameter and contactangle difference on the pressure drop difference of JLHW105 oil showed an inversely proportional relation.A series of materials and liquids were tested.The selection of pipe material for transporting a given fluid can be based on the contact angle,surface tension,and critical limit of the contact angle obtained.The research results are expected to provide some guidelines for the selection of the appropriate pipe material for a given set of fluids. | Hongyuan Qi Aiguo Liang Huayi Jiang Jianying Shi Nana Sun Yulong Wang | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,3: | 2 |

In this research, taxonomic status of Protoperidinium was clarified by tracing its taxonomic history, 23 species belong to genus Protoperidinium on the coasts of China were preliminarily identified, and morphological description and plate patterns were given for each species. | 20 | Rice FLOURY ENDOSPERM 18 encodes a pentatricopeptide repeat protein required for 5′ processing of mitochondrial nad5 messenger RNA and endosperm development显示文摘Pentatricopeptide repeat(PPR) proteins, composing one of the largest protein families in plants,are involved in RNA binding and regulation of organelle RNA metabolism at the posttranscriptional level. Although several PPR proteins have been implicated in endosperm development in rice(Oryza sativa), the molecular functions of many PPRs remain obscure. Here, we identified a rice endosperm mutant named floury endosperm 18(flo18) with pleiotropic defects in both reproductive and vegetative development.Map-based cloning and complementation tests showed that FLO18 encodes a mitochondriontargeted P-type PPR protein with 15 PPR motifs.Mitochondrial function was disrupted in the flo18 mutant, as evidenced by decreased assembly of Complex I in the mitochondrial electron transport chain and altered mitochondrial morphology. Loss of FLO18 function resulted in defective 5′-end processing of mitochondrial nad5 transcripts encoding subunit 5 of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide hydrogenase.
