| 4 | Enhancing upconversion of Nd3+ through Yb^(3+)-mediated energy cycling towards temperature sensing显示文摘Photon upconversion of lanthanides has been a powerful means to convert low-energy photons into high-energy ones.However,in contrast to the mostly investigated lanthanide ions,it has remained a challenge for the efficient upconversion of Nd^(3+)due to the deleterious concentration quenching effect.Here we report an efficient strategy to enhance the upconversion of Nd^(3+)through the Yb^(3+)-mediated energy cycling in a core-shell-shell nanostructure.Both Nd^(3+)and Yb^(3+)are confined in the interlayer,and the presence of Yb^(3+)in the Nd-sublattice provides a more matched energy for the upconversion transitions occurring at the intermediate state of Nd^(3+)towards much better population at its emissive levels.Moreover,this design also minimizes the possible cross-relaxation processes at both intermediate level and the emissive levels of Nd^(3+)which are the primary factors limiting the upconversion performance for the Nd^(3+)-doped materials.Such energy cycling-enhanced upconversion shows promise in temperature sensing. | Nan Song Songbin Liu Peng Zhang Junshan He Qinyuan Zhang Feng Wang Bo Zhou | 2021 | Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,12: | 3 |

| 14 | Efficient and wideband acousto-optic modulation on thin-film lithium niobate for microwave-to-photonic conversion显示文摘Microwave photonics,a field that crosscuts microwave/millimeter-wave engineering with optoelectronics,has sparked great interest from research and commercial sectors. This multidisciplinary fusion can achieve ultrawide bandwidth and ultrafast speed that were considered impossible in conventional chip-scale microwave/millimeterwave systems. Conventional microwave-to-photonic converters,based on resonant acousto-optic modulation,produce highly efficient modulation but sacrifice bandwidth and limit their applicability for most real-world microwave signal-processing applications. In this paper,we build highly efficient and wideband microwaveto-photonic modulators using the acousto-optic effect on suspended lithium niobate thin films. A wideband microwave signal is first piezoelectrically transduced using interdigitated electrodes into Lamb acoustic waves,which directly propagates across an optical waveguide and causes refractive index pertp urbation through the photoelastic effect. This approach is power-efficient,with phase shifts up to 0.0166 rad∕m W over a 45μm modulation length and with a bandwidth up to 140 MHz at a center frequency of 1.9 GHz. Developmental lead exposure can cause neurological disorders similar to hyperactivity dis-order, dyslexia and schizophrenia. In the present study, we examined the impact of developmental lead exposure, administered in vitro and in vivo, on hippocampal Disrupted-In- Schizophrenia 1 expression. Our results show that in cultured hippocampal neurons, in vitro exposure to 0.1-10 μM lead, inhibited neurite growth and increased Disrupted-In-Schizophrenia 1 mRNA and protein ex-pression dose-dependently. In addition, blood lead levels in mice were increased with increasing mouse maternal lead (0.01-1 mM) exposure. Hippocampal neurons from these mice showed a concomitant increase in Disrupted-In-Schizophrenia 1 mRNA and protein expression.
