1Occupational exposure to heavy metals, alcohol intake, and risk of type 2 diabetes and prediabetes among Chinese male workers显示文摘Objective: Both exposure to heavy metals and alcohol intake have been related to the risk of type 2 diabetes (T2D). In this study, we aimed to assess the potential interactions between metal exposure and alcohol intake on the risk of T2D and prediabetes in a cohort of Chinese male workers. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional analysis of 26,008 Chinese male workers in an occupational cohort study from 2011 to 2013. We assessed metal exposure and alcohol consumption at baseline in these workers who were aged ≥20 years. Based on occupations which were categorized according to measured urine metal levels, multiple logistic regression analyses were used to evaluate the independent and joint effects of metal and alcohol exposure on the risk of T2D and prediabetes. Results: Risks of T2D (Ptrend= 0.0 0 1 ) and prediabetes (Ptrend = 0.001) were significantly elevated with increasing number of standard drinks per week, years of drinking, and lifetime alcohol consumption. An adjusted odds ratio (OR) of 6.1 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 4.8-7.8) was observed for the smelting/refining workers (highest metal exposure levels) who had the highest lifetime alcohol consumption (>873 kg)(Pinteraction = 0.018), whereas no statistically significant joint effect was found for prediabetes (Pinteraction =0.515). Conclusions: Both exposures to metal and heavy alcohol intake were associated with the risk of diabetes in this large cohort of male workers. 2Genome-wide identification and characterization of the lateral organ boundaries domain gene family in Brassica rapa var.rapa显示文摘The Lateral Organ Boundaries Domain(LBD)genes encode highly conserved plant-specific LOB domain proteins which regulate growth and development in various species.However,members of the LBD gene family have yet to be identified in Brassica rapa var.rapa.In the present study,fifty-nine LBD genes were identified and distributed on 10 chromosomes.The BrrLBD proteins are predicted to encode hydrophobic polypeptides between 118 and 394 amino acids in length and with molecular weights ranging from 13.31 to 44.24 kDa;the theoretical pi for these proteins varies from 4.83 to 9.68.There were 17 paralogous gene pairs in the BrrLBD family,suggesting that the amplification of the BrrLBD gene family involved largescale gene duplication events.Members of the BrrLBD family were divided into 7 subclades(class I a to e,class II a and b).Analysis of gene structure and conserved domains revealed that most BrrLBD genes of the same subclade had similar gene structures and protein motifs.The expression profiles of 59 BrrLBD genes were determined through Quantitative Real-time fluorescent PCR(qRT-PCR).Most BrrLBD genes in the same subclade had similar gene expression profiles.However,the expression patterns of 7 genes differed from their duplicates,indicating that although the gene function of most BrrLBD genes has been conserved,some BrrLBD genes may have undergone evolutionary change.Qin Yu Simin Hu Jiancan Du Yongping Yang Xudong Sun 2020Plant Diversity2020,42,1:3

8Significant strain-rate dependence of sensing behavior in Ti0_(2)@carbon fibre/PDMS composites for flexible strain sensors显示文摘Carbon fibre(CF)embedded into elastomeric media has been attracting incredible interest as flexible strain sensors in the application of skin electronics owing to their high sensitivity in a very small strain gauge.To further improve the sensitivity of CF/PDMS composite strain sensor,the relatively low temperature prepared TiO_(2) nanowire via hydrothermal route was employed herein to functionalize CF.The results showed a significant increase in the sensitivity of the TiO_(2)@CF/PDMS composite strain sensors which was reflected by the calculated gauge factor.As the prepared TiO_(2) nanowire vertically embraced the surroundings of the CF,the introduced TiO_(2) nanowire contributed to a highly porous structure which played a predominant role in improving the sensitivity of strain sensors.Moreover,the significant strain rate dependent behavior of TiO_(2)@CF/PDMS strain sensor was revealed when performing monotonic tests at varied strain rate.Therefore,introducing TiO_(2) nanowire on CF offers a new technique for fabricating flexible strain sensors with improved sensitivity for the application of flexible electronics.Fan ZHANG Hailong HU Simin HU Jianling YUE 2021Journal of Advanced Ceramics2021,10,6:1

14Factors Associated with SARS-CoV-2 Repeat Positivity—Beijing,China,June–September 2020显示文摘Introduction:Repeat positive severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)following COVID-19 initial viral clearance(repositivity)poses a public health management challenge.The objective was to determine factors associated with neutralizing antibody(Nab)level and re-positivity among patients infected with a single strain SARS-CoV-2.Methods:During a single strain SARS-CoV-2 cluster in Beijing,China,longitudinal individual clinical,virological,and immunological data were collected from 368 infections from June 13 to September 22,2020.Factors associated with Nab level and re-positivity were analyzed using generalized estimating equations.Results:A total of 353(96%)SARS-CoV-2 infections had demographic,clinical,and laboratory data available.Among the 353 infections,55(15.5%)were re-positive,and blood draws were taken from 346 individuals(98.0%)during hospitalization and/or during the follow-up period.Symptoms were milder for the second-time admission for the re-positives,although 36.4%of re-positives presented with radiographic appearance of pneumonia manifestation.Compared to non-re-positive patients,NAb titers were lower among re-positives;NAb was positively associated with clinical severity.Samples from the lower respiratory tract manifested higher viral load than that from the upper respiratory tract.Multivariable analysis showed re-positivity was positively associated with being female[odd ratio(OR)=1.7,95%confidence interval(CI)1.1–2.8]and being aged<18 years(OR=5.2,95%CI 1.5–18.1);having initially asymptomatic infection(OR=13.7,95%CI 1.6–116.3);and negatively associated with a higher NAb level(OR=0.9,95%CI 0.5–1.7).Conclusions:NAb may be important for sustained viral clearance.Lower respiratory tract infection was associated with higher viral load among all infections when compared to upper respiratory tract infection.Continuous lower respiratory and intermittent upper respiratory viral shedding among COVID-19 infections may occur.Siqi Li Xiaoli Wang Li Li Yang Pan Siyuan Yang Dawei Tan Ying Shen Peng Yang Naor Bar-Zeev Yaling Hu Jacky MJennings Simin Li Linghang Wang Quanyi Wang 2022China CDC weekly2022,4,5:1

20Tectonic features,genetic mechanisms and basin evolution of the eastern Doseo Basin,Chad显示文摘The features of the unconformity,fault and tectonic inversion in the eastern Doseo Basin,Chad,were analyzed,and the genetic mechanisms and basin evolution were discussed using seismic and drilling data.The following results are obtained.First,four stratigraphic unconformities,i.e.basement(Tg),Mangara Group(T10),lower Upper Cretaceous(T5)and Cretaceous(T4),four faulting stages,i.e.Barremian extensional faults,Aptian–Coniacian strike-slip faults,Campanian strike-slip faults,and Eocene strike-slip faults,and two tectonic inversions,i.e.Santonian and end of Cretaceous,were developed in the Doseo Basin.Second,the Doseo Basin was an early failed intracontinental passive rift basin transformed by the strike-slip movement and tectonic inversion.The initial rifting between the African and South American plates induced the nearly N-S stretching of the Doseo Basin,giving rise to the formation of the embryonic Doseo rift basin.The nearly E-W strike-slip movement of Borogop(F1)in the western section of the Central African Shear Zone resulted in the gradual cease of the near north-south rifting and long-term strike-slip transformation,forming a dextral transtension fault system with inherited activity but gradually weakened in intensity(interrupted by two tectonic inversions).This fault system was composed of the main shear(F1),R-type shear(F2-F3)and P-type shear(F4-F5)faults,with the strike-slip associated faults as branches.The strike-slip movements of F1 in Cretaceous and Eocene were controlled by the dextral shear opening of the equatorial south Atlantic and rapid expanding of the Indian Ocean,respectively.The combined function of the strike-slip movement of F1 and the convergence between Africa and Eurasia made the Doseo Basin underwent the Santonian dextral transpressional inversion characterized by intensive folding deformation leading to the echelon NE-SW and NNE-SSW nose-shaped uplifts and unconformity(T5)on high parts of the uplifts.The convergence between Africa and Eurasia caused the intensive tectonic inversion of Doseo Basin at the end of Cretaceous manifesting as intensive uplift,denudation and folding deformation,forming the regional unconformity(T4)and superposing a nearly E-W structural configuration on the Santonian structures.Third,the Doseo Basin experienced four evolutional stages with the features of short rifting and long depression,i.e.Barremian rifting,Aptian rifting–depression transition,Albian–Late Cretaceous depression,and Cenozoic extinction,under the control of the tectonic movements between Africa and its peripheral plates.GAO Huahua DU Yebo WANG Lin GAO Simin HU Jie BAI Jianfeng MA Hong WANG Yuhua ZHANG Xinshun LIU Hao 2023Petroleum Exploration and Development2023,50,5:0
