1Mineralogical characteristics of airborne particles collected in Beijing during a severe Asian dust storm period in spring 2002显示文摘Asian dust storm (ADS) samples were collected on March 20,2002 in Beijing,China. High-resolution field emission scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray detector (FESEM-EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to study the morphology,chemical compositions,number-size dis-tributions and mineralogical compositions of ADS particles. The mineral particles were major compo-nents in the ADS samples,accounting for 94% by number. The XRD analysis indicated that the dust particles were dominated by clay (40.3%),and quartz (19.5%),followed by plagioclase (8.4%),calcite (7.5%),K-feldspar (1.5%),hematite (0.9%),pyrite (0.9%),hornblende (0.4%) and gypsum (0.3%),with a certain amount of noncrystalline materials (20.3%). Clay minerals were mainly illite/smectite mixed lay-ers (78%),followed by illite (9%),kaolinite (6%),and chlorite (7%). In addition to these main minerals,FESEM-EDX also detected some trace minerals,such as dolomite,pyrite,thenardite,as well as heavy minerals represented by rutile,ilmenite and apatite. 2Modeling and prediction for the acute toxicity of pesticide mixtures to the freshwater luminescent bacterium Vibrio qinghaiensis sp.-Q67显示文摘In China, water pollution by pesticide mixtures has constituted a serious environmental problem due to potential toxicity and bioaccumulation. But few pesticide combinations have exactly similar and dissimilar mechanisms of action. For this purpose, in tests with the freshwater luminescent bacterium (Vibrio qinghaiensis sp.-Q67), ten pesticides, including three herbicides and seven insecticides, were selected as test substances. Concentration response analysis was performed for ten individual substances, and for mixtures containing all ten substances in twelve different concentration ratios (based on UDCR and EECR methods). The observed mixture toxicity was compared with predictions by the two models, concentration addition (CA) and independent action (IA). The toxicity of the tested mixtures showed a good agreement with those predicted by the concept of CA except four UDCR mixtures: UD10-2, UD10-4, UD10-8 and UD10-10. To examine the influence of imidacloprid in the four UDCR mixtures (UD10-2, UD10-4, UD10-8, UD10-10), it was removed from the ten-pesticide mixtures and the remaining nine chemicals were combined at the same relative proportions based on the UDCR method (UD9-2, UD9-4, UD9-8, UD9-10). There was not significant departure from CA for the scattered points with the nine remaining pesticides omitting imidacloprid. 4Back-propagation network improved by conjugate gradient based on genetic algorithm in QSAR study on endocrine disrupting chemicals显示文摘Since the complexity and structural diversity of man-made compounds are considered, quantitative structure-activity relationships (QSARs)-based fast screening approaches are urgently needed for the assessment of the potential risk of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs). The artificial neural net-works (ANN) are capable of recognizing highly nonlinear relationships, so it will have a bright applica-tion prospect in building high-quality QSAR models. As a popular supervised training algorithm in ANN, back-propagation (BP) converges slowly and immerses in vibration frequently. In this paper, a research strategy that BP neural network was improved by conjugate gradient (CG) algorithm with a variable selection method based on genetic algorithm was applied to investigate the QSAR of EDCs. This re-sulted in a robust and highly predictive ANN model with R2 of 0.845 for the training set, q2pred of 0.81 and root-mean-square error (RMSE) of 0.688 for the test set. 5Sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) mediates darkness-induced stomatal closure through raising cytosol pH and hydrogen peroxide (H_2O_2) levels in guard cells in Vicia faba显示文摘The role and signaling of sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) during darkness-induced stomatal closure were examined in Vicia faba. Darkness substantially raised S1P and hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) levels and closed stomata. These darkness effects were significantly suppressed by DL-threo-dihydrosphingosine (DL-threo-DHS) and N,N-dimethylsphingosine (DMS), two inhibitors of long-chain base kinases. Exogenous S1P led to stomatal closure and H 2 O 2 production, and the effects of S1P were largely prevented by the H 2 O 2 modulators ascorbic acid, catalase, and diphenyleneiodonium. These results indicated that S1P mediated darkness-induced stomatal closure by triggering H 2 O 2 production. In addition, DL-threo-DHS and DMS significantly suppressed both darkness-induced cytosolic alkalization in guard cells and stomatal closure. Exogenous S1P caused cytosolic alkalization and stomatal closure, which could be largely abolished by butyric acid. These results demonstrated that S1P syn-thesis was necessary for cytosolic alkalization during stomatal closure caused by darkness. Furthermore, together with the data described above, inhibition of darkness-induced H 2 O 2 production by butyric acid revealed that S1P synthesis-induced cytosolic alkalization was a prerequisite for H 2 O 2 production during stomatal closure caused by darkness, a conclusion supported by the facts that the pH increase caused by exogenous S1P had a shorter lag and peaked faster than H 2 O 2 levels and that butyric acid prevented exogenous S1P-induced H 2 O 2 production. 7Mixture Toxicities of Three Pesticides Having Different Time-Toxicity Profiles显示文摘In the environment,chemical pollutants always exist as mixtures.To evaluate mixture toxicity,we should ex-amine the concentration ratios and the concentration levels of mixture components as well as the interactive time between the components and testing organism.Selecting three pesticides,metribuzin(MET),dodine(DOD)and ri-domil(RID),as mixture components,Vibrio qinghaiensis sp.-Q67 as testing organism,and 96-well microplate as exposure experiment carrier,the luminescence inhibition toxicities of the pesticides and their binary mixtures at six exposure time points(0.25,2,4,8,12,and 16 h)were determined.The results showed that the three pesticides have different time-toxicity profiles.The toxicity of MET increases over time,and those of DOD and RID show a slight decrease or increase in the first 4 h,respectively,and then remain unchanged to 16 h.The toxicities of the binary mixtures consisting of the three pesticides depend on not only the mixture composition but also the exposure time.The time-toxicity profiles of all rays in MET-DOD mixture system are U-shaped curves,those in MET-RID system are basically monotonically increased and those in DOD-RID system are basically monotonically decreased.How-ever,our findings indicate that for the test substances,mixture toxicity can be predicted by the extended concentra-tion addition model.Mo Yu Shushen Liu Mengchao Wang Fu Chen Hanxiao Tang 2014Chinese Journal of Chemistry2014,32,6:2
8Newly developed vacuum differential pressure casting of thin-walled complicated Al-alloy castings显示文摘The newly designed vacuum differential pressure casting (VDPC) unit was introduced, by which the capabilityof the VDPC process to produce thin-walled complicated Al-alloy castings, that are free from oxides, gas pore andshrinkage cavity and thus enhance overall part quality, was studied. Experimental results were compared with those oftraditional gravity pouring and vacuum suction casting. The first series of experiments were focused on investigating thecastability of thin section Al-alloy casting. In the second series of experiments the metallographic evidence, castingstrength and soundness were examined. Finally, case studies of very interesting thin walled complicated casting applicationswere described. 18Holographic QSAR of environmental estrogens显示文摘Experimental and epidemiological studies suggest that some man-made and natu- rally occurring chemicals related to the environment have the potential to interrupt normal func- tioning of the endocrine systems of humans and wildlife. These chemicals, termed EDCs (Endo- crine disrupting Chemicals), pose serious threats to the reproductive capability of humans and wildlife. Because of the structural diversity and various types, development of structure-based rapid screening methodologies is important and necessary for the assessment of the environ- mental pollutants. In this paper molecular hologram based QSAR models were developed with the combinatory application of partial least square (PLS) regression for a large diverse set of 105 environmental estrogens.
