| 2 | Chinese herbal medicine reduces mortality in patients with severe and critical coronavirus disease 2019: a retrospective cohort study显示文摘This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine(CHM)in patients with severe/critical coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).In this retrospective study,data were collected from 662 patients with severe/critical COVID-19 who were admitted to a designated hospital to treat patients with severe COVID-19 in Wuhan before March 20,2020.All patients were divided into an exposed group(CHM users)and a control group(non-users).After propensity score matching in a 1:1 ratio,156 CHM users were matched by propensity score to 156 non-users.No significant differences in seven baseline clinical variables were found between the two groups of patients.All-cause mortality was reported in 13 CHM users who died and 36 non-users who died.After multivariate adjustment,the mortality risk of CHM users was reduced by 82.2%(odds ratio 0.178,95%CI 0.076–0.418;P<0.001)compared with the non-users.Secondly,age(odds ratio 1.053,95%CI 1.023–1.084;P<0.001)and the proportion of severe/critical patients(odds ratio 0.063,95%CI 0.028–0.143;P<0.001)were the risk factors of mortality.These results show that the use of CHM may reduce the mortality of patients with severe/critical COVID-19. | Guohua Chen Wen Su Jiayao Yang Dan Luo Ping Xia Wen Jia Xiuyang Li Chuan Wang Suping Lang Qingbin Meng Ying Zhang Yuhe Ke An Fan Shuo Yang Yujiao Zheng Xuepeng Fan Jie Qiao Fengmei Lian Li Wei Xiaolin Tong | 2020 | Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,6: | 10 |

| 7 | Degradation and mineralization of aniline by O_3/Fenton process enhanced using high-gravity technology显示文摘The degradation and mineralization of aniline(AN) using ozone combined with Fenton reagent(O_3/Fenton) in a rotating packed bed(RPB) was proposed in this study, and the process(RPB-O_3/Fenton) was compared with conventional O_3/Fenton in a stirred tank reactor(STR-O_3/Fenton) or single ozonation in an RPB(RPB-O_3). Effects of high gravity factor, H_2O_2 dosage, H_2O_2 dosing method and initial p H on the AN mineralization efficiency were investigated in the RPB-O_3/Fenton process. In addition, the behavior of Fe(II) was monitored at different H2 O2 dosing methods and p H values. Finally, the optimal operation conditions were determined with high gravity factor of100, initial pH of 5, Fe(II) concentration of 0.8 mmol·L^(-1) and H_2O_2 dosage of 2.5 ml. Under these conditions, for aniline wastewater at the volume of 1 L and concentration of 200 mg·L^(-1), a fast and thorough decay of AN was conducted in 10 min, and the TOC removal efficiency reached 89% in 60 min. The main intermediates of p-benzoquinone, nitrobenzene, maleic acid and oxalic acid were identified by liquid chromatography/mass spectroscopy(LC/MS), and the degradation pathways of AN in RPB-O_3/Fenton system were proposed based on experimental evidence. Vertically oriented ZnO sub-micron tubes were obtained on an indium tin oxide (ITO) substrate, and then CdTe nanocrystals and a thin P3MT layer were electrodeposited sequentially onto the walls of the ZnO sub-micron tubes. A suitable thickness of CdTe and P3MT could improve the photovoltaic properties of the solar cell, which was attributed to the enhancement in the light absorption and the decrease in the recombination of photogenerated carriers. In addition, a p–n heterojunction formed between the interface of CdTe and P3MT played an important part in the efficient separation and fast transport of photogenerated carriers in the sub-micron structure. | 20 | Synthesis and Characterization of Electroless Ni-P/Ni-Mo-P Duplex Coating with Different Thickness Combinations显示文摘In this work, a novel duplex Ni-P/Ni-Mo-P coating upon the aluminum(Al) substrate was synthesized via an electroless plating, i.e., the binary Ni-P coating as a transition layer and the ternary Ni-Mo-P coating on the top. It was found that the duplex coating was of a high hardness,large elastic modulus,low porosity and excellent corrosion resistance. In addition, experimental results revealed that for a total 20 μm coating thickness, the duplex coating with a 7 μm of the Ni-Mo-P coating exhibited the best corrosion resistance in 0.5 mol/L sulfuric acid solution, which was attributed to its compact structure and low porosity.
