| 1 | Comprehensive analysis of NAC transcription factors and their expression during fruit spine development in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.)显示文摘The cucumber(Cucumis sativus L.)is an important vegetable crop worldwide,and fruit trichomes or spines are an important trait for external fruit quality.The mechanisms underlying spine formation are not well understood,but the plant-specific NAC family of transcription factors may play important roles in fruit spine initiation and development.In this study,we conducted a genome-wide survey and identified 91 NAC gene homologs in the cucumber genome.Clustering analysis classified these genes into six subfamilies;each contained a varying number of NAC family members with a similar intron–exon structure and conserved motifs.Quantitative real-time PCR analysis revealed tissue-specific expression patterns of these genes,including 10 and 12 that exhibited preferential expression in the stem and fruit,respectively.Thirteen of the 91 NAC genes showed higher expression in the wild-type plant than in its near-isogenic trichome mutant,suggesting their important roles in fruit spine development.Exogenous application of four plant hormones promoted spine formation and increased spine density on the cucumber fruits;several NAC genes showed differential expression over time in response to phytohormone treatments on cucumber fruit,implying their essential roles in fruit-trichome development.Among the NAC genes identified,12 were found to be targets of 13 known cucumber micro-RNAs.Collectively,these findings provide a useful resource for further analysis of the interactions between NAC genes and genes underlying trichome organogenesis and development during fruit spine development in cucumber. | Xingwang Liu Ting wang Ezra Bartholomew Kezia Black Mingming Dong Yaqi Zhang Sen Yang Yanling Cai Shudan Xue Yiqun Weng Huazhong Ren | 2018 | Horticulture Research2018,5,1: | 10 |

| 5 | Strain heterogeneity,cooccurrence network,taxonomic composition and functional profile of the healthy ocular surface microbiome显示文摘Background:There is growing evidence indicating that the microbial communities that dwell on the human ocular surface are crucially important for ocular surface health and disease.Little is known about interspecies interactions,functional profiles,and strain heterogeneity across individuals in healthy ocular surface microbiomes.Methods:To comprehensively characterize the strain heterogeneity,cooccurrence network,taxonomic composition and functional profile of the healthy ocular surface microbiome,we performed shotgun metagenomics sequencing on ocular surface mucosal membrane swabs of 17 healthy volunteers.Results:The healthy ocular surface microbiome was classified into 12 phyla,70 genera,and 140 species.The number of species in each healthy ocular surface microbiome ranged from 6 to 47,indicating differences in microbial diversity among individuals.The species with high relative abundances and high positivity rates were Streptococcus pyogenes,Staphylococcus epidermidis,Propionibacterium acnes,Corynebacterium accolens,and Enhydrobacter aerosaccus.A correlation network analysis revealed a competitive interaction of Staphylococcus epidermidis with Streptococcus pyogenes in ocular surface microbial ecosystems.Staphylococcus epidermidis and Streptococcus pyogenes revealed phylogenetic diversity among different individuals.At the functional level,the pathways related to transcription were the most abundant.We also found that there were abundant lipid and amino acid metabolism pathways in the healthy ocular surface microbiome.Conclusion:This study explored the strain heterogeneity,cooccurrence network,taxonomic composition,and functional profile of the healthy ocular surface microbiome.These findings have important significance for the future development of probiotic-based eye therapeutic drugs. | Yutong Kang Shudan Lin Xueli Ma Yanlin Che Yiju Chen Tian Wan Die Zhang Jiao Shao Jie Xu Yi Xu Yongliang Lou Meiqin Zheng | 2021 | Eye and Vision2021,8,1: | 3 |
| 6 | Recent advances of the Bergman cyclization in polymer science显示文摘The Bergman cyclization has strongly impacted on a number of fields including pharmaceutics, synthetic chemistry, and material science. The diradical intermediates stemmed from enediynes can not only cause DNA cleavage under physiological conditions but also function as monomer or initiator participants in polymer science. The homo-polymerization of enediynes through the Bergman cyclization to fabricate conjugated polymers is a fascinating strategy due to the advantages of facial operation, high efficiency, tailored structure, and catalyst-free operation. Moreover, conjugated polymers generated through the Bergman cyclization show many remarkable properties, such as excellent thermal stability, good solubility, and processability, which enables these polymers to be further manufactured into carbon-rich materials. Recent times have seen extensive efforts devoted to the application of the Bergman cyclization in polymer science and materials chemistry. A variety of synthetic strategies have been developed to fabricate structurally unique materials via the Bergman cyclization, including the fabrication of rod-like polymers with polyester, dendrimers and chiral imide side chains, functionalization of carbon nanomaterials by surface-grafting conjugated polymers, formation of nanoparticles by intramolecular collapse of single polymer chains, and the construction of carbon nanomembranes with different morphologies.
