2Genome-wide analysis reveals selection for Chinese Rongchang pigs显示文摘Livestock have undergone domestication and consequently strong selective pressure on genes or genomic regions that control desirable traits. To identify selection signatures in the genome of Chinese Rongchang pigs, we generated a total of about 170 Gb of DNA sequence data with about 6.4-fold coverage for each of six female individuals. By combining these data with the publically available genome data of 10 Asian wild boars,we identified 449 protein-coding genes with selection signatures in Rongchang pigs, which are mainly involved in growth and hormone binding, nervous system development, and drug metabolism. The accelerated evolution of these genes may contribute to the dramatic phenotypic differences between Rongchang pigs and Chinese wild boars. 4Genome-wide signatures of the geographic expansion and breeding of soybean显示文摘Soybean is a leguminous crop that provides oil and protein. Exploring the genomic signatures of soybean evolution is crucial for breeding varieties with improved adaptability to environmental extremes. We analyzed the genome sequences of 2,214 soybeans and proposed a soybean evolutionary route, i.e., the expansion of annual wild soybean(Glycine soja Sieb. & Zucc.) from southern China and its domestication in central China, followed by the expansion and local breeding selection of its landraces(G. max(L.) Merr.). We observed that the genetic introgression in soybean landraces was mostly derived from sympatric rather than allopatric wild populations during the geographic expansion. Soybean expansion and breeding were accompanied by the positive selection of flowering time genes, including GmSPA3c. 5Two flexible cationic metal-organic frameworks with remarkable stability for CO_(2)/CH4 separation显示文摘Cationic azole-based metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)with remarkable stability and unique pore environment have aroused great research interests.Meanwhile,flexible MOFs which can undergo pore-structure changes upon exposure to external stimuli are ideal materials for gas separation.However,introducing flexibility into the framework of cationic azole-based MOFs is rarely reported.Herein,we synthesized two stable isomorphic cationic MOFs(M-btz-as,M=Co,Ni)based on a linear azole ligand.After activated at high temperature under vacuum,M-btz-ht(M=Co,Ni)were obtained and both MOFs exhibited flexible features in which Co-btz is more flexible than Ni-btz.Different solvent-mediated activation methods were employed to explore their effects on structural flexibility and produced MOFs with different phases.Continuous phase transformation of Co-btz-e was verified by powder X-ray diffraction.In addition,these MOF phases possessed different gas separation abilities affected by their flexible frameworks,and Co-btz-ht exhibited the highest CO_(2)/CH4 separation ability.Shulin Li Shilin Zeng Yuyang Tian Xiaofei Jing Fuxing Sun Guangshan Zhu 2021Nano Research2021,14,9:1

7Bavachin induces apoptosis in colorectal cancer cells through Gadd45a via the MAPK signaling pathway显示文摘Bavachin is a dihydroflavonoid compound isolated from Psoralea corylifolia,and exhibits anti-bacterial,anti-inflammatory,anti-tumor and lipid-lowering activities.Recent attention has gradually drawn on bavachin-induced apoptosis in many human cancer cell lines.However,the anti-cancer effects and related mechanisms in colorectal cancer remain unknown.Here,we investigated the effects of bavachin on colorectal cancer in vivo and in vitro.The results showed that bavachin inhibited the proliferation of human colorectal cancer cells and induce apoptosis.These changes were mediated by activating the MAPK signaling pathway,which significantly up-regulated the expression of Gadd45a.Furthermore,Gadd45a silencing obviously attenuated bavachin-mediated cell apoptosis.Inhibition of the MAPK signaling pathway by JNK/ERK/p38 inhibitors also weakened the up-regulation of Gadd45a by bavachin.The anticancer effect of bavachin was also validated using a mouse xenograft model of human colorectal cancer.In conclusion,these findings suggest that bavachin induces the apoptosis of colorectal cancer cells through activating the MAPK signaling pathway.WANG Mengru TIAN Baopeng SHEN Jie XU Shilin LIU Cong GUAN Ling GUO Min DOU Jie 2023Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2023,21,1:1
8Whether and When Superhydrophobic/Superoleophobic Surfaces Are Fingerprint Repellent显示文摘Driven by the ever-increasing demand for fingerprint-resistant techniques in modern society,numerous researches have proposed to develop innovative antifingerprint coatings based on superhydrophobic/superoleophobic surface design.However,whether superhydrophobic/superoleophobic surfaces have favorable repellency to the microscopic fingerprint is in fact an open question.Here,we establish a reliable method that enables evaluating the antifingerprint capability of various surfaces in a quantitative way.We show that superhydrophobicity is irrelevant with fingerprint repellency.Regarding superoleophobic surfaces,two distinct wetting states of microscopic fingerprint residues,i.e.,the'repellent'and the“collapsed”states,are revealed.Only in the'repellent'state,in which the fingerprint residues remain atop surface textures upon being pressed,superoleophobic surfaces can bring about favorable antifingerprint repellency,which correlates positively with their receding contact angles.A finger-deformation-dependent intrusion mechanism is proposed to account for the formation of diferent fingerprint wetting states.Our findings offer important insights into the mechanism of fingerprint repellency and will help the design of high-performance antifingerprint surfaces for diverse applications.Chengjiao Wu Yue Fan Hongxin Wang Juan Li Yuxi Chen Yingke Wang Lin Liu Lidan Zhou Shilin Huang Xuelin Tian 2023Research2023,,1:0
9Genomic analysis of Tibetan ground tits identifies molecular adaptations associated with cooperative breeding显示文摘Cooperative breeding is a sophisticated altruistic social behavior that helps social animals to adapt to harsh environments.The Tibetan ground tit,Pseudopodoces humilis,is a high-altitude bird endemic to the Tibetan plateau.Recently,it has become an exciting system for studying the evolution of facultative cooperative breeding.To test for molecular adaptations associated with cooperative breeding,we resequenced the whole genome of ground tits from 6 wild populations that display remarkable variation in the frequency of cooperative breeding.Population structure analyses showed that the 6 populations were divided into 4 lineages,which is congruent with the major geographical distribution of the sampling sites.Using genome-wide selective sweep analysis,we identified putative positively selected genes(PSGs)in groups of tits that displayed high and low cooperative breeding rates.The total number of PSGs varied from 146 to 722 in high cooperative breeding rate populations,and from 272 to 752 in low cooperative breeding rate populations.Functional enrichment analysis of these PSGs identified several significantly enriched ontologies related to oxytocin signaling,estrogen signaling,and insulin secretion.PSGs involved in these functional ontologies suggest that molecular adaptations in hormonal regulation may have played important roles in shaping the evolution of cooperative breeding in the ground tit.Taken together,our study provides candidate genes and functional ontologies involved in molecular adaptations associated with cooperative breeding in Tibetan ground tits,and calls for a better understanding of the genetic roles in the evolution of cooperative breeding.Yi Wang Chen Wang Wei Hong Shilin Tian Qin Lu Bing-Jun Wang Huaiming Jin Nima Zhuoma Xin Lu Huabin Zhao 2023Current Zoology2023,69,5:0
10Copy number variation of B1 controls awn length in wheat显示文摘Wheat awns contribute to photosynthesis and grain production.In this study,an F2population and F2:3families from a cross between the awned line 7D12 and the Chinese awnless variety Shiyou 20(SY20)were used to identify loci associated with awn length.Bulked-segregant RNA sequencing and linkage mapping identified a single dominant locus in a 0.3 cM interval on chromosome 5AL.Five genes were in the interval,including the recently cloned awn inhibitor B1.Although a single copy of the B1 gene was detected in 7D12,SY20 carried five copies of the gene.Increased copy number of B1 in SY20enhanced gene expression.Based on sequence variation among the promoter regions of five B1 gene copies in SY20,two dominant markers were developed and found to cosegregate with B1 in a population of 931 wheat accessions.All 77 awnless accessions harbored sequence variations in the B1 promoter regions similar to those of SY20 and thus carried multiple copies of the gene,whereas 15 randomly selected awned wheats carried only one copy.These results suggest that an increase in copy number of the B1 gene is associated with inhibition of awn length.Jinlong Li Xin Xin Fangyao Sun Zhenzhen Zhu Xiangru Xu Jiatian Yang Xiaoming Xie Jiazheng Yu Xiaobo Wang Sen Li Shilin Tian Baoyun Li Chaojie Xie Jun Ma 2023The Crop Journal2023,11,3:0

12Identification of QTLs for Cadmium Tolerance During Seedling Stage and Validation of qCDSL1 in Rice显示文摘Cadmium(Cd)is a non-essential toxic metal that is harmful to plants.To investigate the genetic mechanism of Cd tolerance in rice,quantitative trait loci(QTLs)associated with Cd tolerance at the seedling stage were analyzed using a recombinant inbred line(RIL)population derived from a cross between PA64s and 93-11.A total of 36 QTLs associated with shoot length,root length,shoot dry weight,root dry weight and total dry weight were detected in Hangzhou and Lingshui of China.Among them,15 QTLs were identified under the control condition and 15 QTLs were identified under the Cd stress condition,and 6 QTLs for Cd tolerant coefficient were detected on chromosomes 1,3,7 and 9.The qCDSL1.1 and qCDSL1.2 were identified in Hangzhou and Lingshui,respectively,and had overlapping intervals on chromosome 1.To further confirm the effects of qCDSL1.1 and qCDSL1.2,we developed a chromosome segment substitution line(CSSL),CSSLqCDSL1,in 93-11 background harboring qCDSL1.1/qCDSL1.2 from PA64s.Compared to 93-11,CSSLqCDSL1 had increased shoot length under the Cd stress condition.These results pave the way for further isolation of those genes controlling Cd tolerance in rice and marker-assistant selection of rice elite varieties with Cd tolerance.Ding Shilin Liu Chaolei Shang Lianguang Yang Shenglong Zhang Anpeng Jiang Hongzhen Ruan Banpu Fang Guonan Tian Biao Ye Guoyou Guo Longbiao Qian Qian Gao Zhenyu 2021Rice science2021,28,1:0

14Ultralow-adhesion icephobic surfaces:Combining superhydrophobic and liquid-like properties in the same surface显示文摘As a ubiquitous natural phenomenon,ice/frost formation on solid surfaces have adverse effects on many commercial and residential activities.Icephobic surfaces feature low ice adhesion strengths(<100 kPa)can passively retard ice formation and ease ice removal.Superhydrophobic surfaces and liquid-lubricating surfaces are two prevailing categories of icephobic surfaces.However,their long-term stability is relatively poor,and the ice adhesion strengths are not low enough for passive removal of small ice crystals(e.g.,frosts)from the surfaces.Herein,we combine the superhydrophobic and liquid-like properties in one surface to obtain durable icephobic surfaces with extremely low ice adhesion strengths(about 0.035 kPa).Ices and frosts can be removed from the surface under the action of gravity or gas purge.These surfaces are prepared based on surface nanoconical structure and covalently-grafted liquid-like perfluorinated polyether(PFPE)coating,which show synergy effects on suppressing icing and frosting by promoting expulsion of subcooled condensate droplets from the nanotexture and decreasing ice adhesion strengths.The icephobic surfaces show significantly better durability compared to lubricant-impregnated textured surfaces.Our results provide a new avenue to design passive anti-icing/anti-frosting surfaces for a wide range of applications where surfaces are exposed to humid and low-temperature environments.Mengling Ouyang Ruisheng Guo Yue Fan Yi Zhou Chengjiao Wu Liwei Chen Shilin Huang Xuelin Tian 2023Nano Research2023,16,1:0
