1Effects of chemical fertilizer combined with organic manure on Fuji apple quality,yield and soil fertility in apple orchard on the Loess Plateau of China显示文摘To evaluate the effects of chemical fertilizer combined with organic manure on apple yield,quality and soil fertility,an experiment was conducted in an apple orchard on the Loess Plateau of China.Six treatments,i.e.,1)no nitrogen(N)with chemical phosphorus(P)and potassium(K)(PK),2)no P with chemical N and K(NK),3)no K with chemical N and P(NP),4)N,P and K chemical fertilizers only(NPK),5)swine manure(M)only(M),and 6)half chemical fertilizers combined with half swine manure(NPKM)were included with three replications for each.The NPKM treatment achieved 36.9 t/ha average annual yield,which was 42.5%greater than the yield of PK treatment.The average annual yields followed the sequence of NPKM>NPK>M>NK>NP>PK.In NPKM treatment 71.3%of the collected apples had an apple diameter greater than 80 mm compared with 58.2%,41.5%and 37.2%in NK,PK and NP treatments,respectively.The sugar to acid(S:A)ratio was the greatest in NPKM treatment.The results of Vitamin C,soluble solid and firmness showed that NPKM treatment had the highest values.The concentration of soil organic carbon(SOC)in the 0 to 20 cm depth of soil was significantly affected by addition of M.Compared to the antecedent soil properties,the SOCS in the NPKM and M treatments were increased by 28.8%,29.4%,and TN contents were 56.5,49.8%more for soil at 0-20 cm depths,respectively.The major soil nutrients of N,P and K were also significantly increased by M and NPKM treatments in surface soil for five years.The data support the conclusion that,for a production of 35-40 t/ha in an apple orchard on the Loess Plateau of China,the 25-30 t/ha organic manure,160-200 kg/ha N,100-150 kg/ha P2O5 and 120-160 kg/ha K2O were the most suitable fertilizer application.The finding will be helpful for harmonious development of apple production technology,economic income increase for farmers,and improvement of the apple orchard ecosystem.Zhao Zuoping Yan Sha Liu Fen Ji Puhui Wang Xiaoying Tong Yan’an 2014International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2014,7,2:17
2Advanced oxidation of bromide-containing drinking water: A balance between bromate and trihalomethane formation control显示文摘Addition of H2O2 has been employed to repress bromate formation during ozonation of bromide-containing source water.However,the addition of H2O2 will change the oxidation pathways of organic compounds due to the generation of abundant hydroxyl radicals,which could afect the removal efcacy of trihalomethane precursors via the combination of ozone and biological activated carbon(O3-BAC).In this study,we evaluated the efects of H2O2 addition on bromate formation and trihalomethane formation potential(THMFP)reduction during treatment of bromide-containing(97.6–129.1μg/L)source water by the O3-BAC process.At an ozone dose of 4.2 mg/L,an H2O2/O3(g/g)ratio of over 1.0 was required to maintain the bromate concentration below 10.0μg/L,while a much lower H2O2/O3ratio was sufcient for a lower ozone dose.An H2O2/O3(g/g)ratio below 0.3 should be avoided since the bromate concentration will increase with increasing H2O2 dose below this ratio.However,the addition of H2O2 at an ozone dose of 3.2 mg/L and an H2O2/O3 ratio of 1.0 resulted in a 43% decrease in THMFP removal when compared with the O3-BAC process.The optimum H2O2/O3(g/g) ratio for balancing bromate and trihalomethane control was about 0.7–1.0.Fractionation of organic materials showed that the addition of H2O2 decreased the removal efcacy of the hydrophilic matter fraction of DOC by ozonation and increased the reactivity of the hydrophobic fractions during formation of trihalomethane,which may be the two main reasons responsible for the decrease in THMFP reduction efcacy.Overall,this study clearly demonstrated that it is necessary to balance bromate reduction and THMFP control when adopting an H2O2 addition strategy.Yongjing Wang Jianwei Yu Po Han Jing Sha Tao Li Wei An Juan Liu Min Yang 2013Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,11:9
3Effects of feed form and feed particle size on growth performance,carcass characteristics and digestive tract development of broilers显示文摘This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of feed form(mash and crumble-pellet) and feed particle size(fine, medium and coarse) on growth performance, carcass characteristics and digestive tract development of broilers. A total of 1,152 one day-old Ross 308 mixed-sex broilers were used in a factorial arrangement(2×3) based on a completely randomized design with six replicates of 32 birds each.Higher average daily gain(ADG) and average daily feed intake(ADFI) were observed(P < 0.01) for birds fed the crumble-pellet diets(CPD) than for those fed the mash diets(MD) during starter, grower and the entire experiment period. From d 1 to 40, birds fed CPD had a higher(P < 0.01) body weight(BW) than those fed MD. Birds fed CPD had a lower(P < 0.01) feed:gain ratio(F:G) during the starter phase than those fed MD. Medium or coarse particle size increased(P < 0.01) ADG and ADFI during the starter phase, but birds fed fine particle size diets had lower(P < 0.01) F:G during the grower phase. In MD,medium and coarse particle sizes resulted in higher(P < 0.05) BW, ADG and ADFI than fine particle size during the whole experiment. In CPD, particle size had no significant effect on growth performance, as indicated by a feed form × particle size interaction(P < 0.05). At 41 days of age, ten birds per treatment were randomly selected and killed for slaughter yields and digestive tract characteristics determination.It was shown that particle size and feed form alone had no significant effect on slaughter yields, so changes was the feed form × particle size interaction. The relative empty weight of the gizzard was greater(P < 0.01) and the relative length of the ileum was longer(P < 0.05) in birds fed MD than in those fed CPD. 4Effects of different fertilizations on fruit quality,yield and soil fertility in field-grown kiwifruit orchard显示文摘Kiwifruit yield and quality and soil nutrients were investigated in a kiwifruit orchard after long-term fertilization to understand the relationship between kiwifruit growth and soil nutrition.Seven fertilization treatments with three replications were applied in a continuous four-year period,including no fertilizer(CK);phosphorus(P)and potassium(K)fertilizers(PK);N and K fertilizers(NK);N and P fertilizers(NP);N,P and K fertilizers(NPK);1.5 times of N,P and K fertilizers(1.5NPK);and chemical fertilizers plus swine manure(NPKM).Fertilization increased kiwifruit yield at the rate of 450 kg N/hm^(2),225 kg P2O5/hm^(2),300 kg K2O/hm^(2).The average yield decreased in a descending order for NPKM(44.6 t/hm^(2)),1.5NPK(42.6 t/hm^(2)),NPK(42.0 t/hm^(2)),NK(38.0 t/hm^(2)),NP(36.7 t/hm^(2)),PK(36.4 t/hm^(2))and CK(34.1 t/hm^(2)).The sugar to acid ratio(S:A)was the highest(10.9)in 2012,and the soluble sugar increased by 15.7%after four-year NPKM fertilization.The NPKM fertilization also significantly increased the vitamin C,soluble solid and firmness.The soil organic carbon contents at 0-20 cm,20-40 cm and 40-60 cm in depth under the NPKM treatment were 27%,29%and 139%higher than that of the CK treatment,respectively.The available N contents at 0-20 cm,20-40 cm and 40-60 cm in depth in the 1.5NPK treatment were 180%,114%and 133%higher than that in the CK treatment,respectively.Balanced fertilization with N,P,K and organic manure is important to soil fertility,which may increase yield and improve quality in field-grown kiwifruit orchard.Zhao Zuoping Duan Min Yan Sha Liu Zhifeng Wang Qi Fu Jing Tong Yan’an 2017International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2017,10,2:6
5Functional characterization and key residues engineering of a regiopromiscuity O-methyltransferase involved in benzylisoquinoline alkaloid biosynthesis in Nelumbo nucifera显示文摘Lotus(Nelumbo nucifera),an ancient aquatic plant,possesses a unique pharmacological activity that is primarily contributed by benzylisoquinoline alkaloids(BIAs).However,only few genes and enzymes involved in BIA biosynthesis in N.nucifera have been isolated and characterized.In the present study we identified the regiopromiscuity of an O-methyltransferase,designated NnOMT6,isolated from N.nucifera;NnOMT6 was found to catalyze the methylation of monobenzylisoquinoline 6-O/7-O,aporphine skeleton 6-O,phenylpropanoid 3-O,and protoberberine 2-O.We further probed the key residues affecting NnOMT6 activity via molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation.Verification using site-directed mutagenesis revealed that residues D316,N130,L135,N176A,D269,and E328 were critical for BIA O-methyltransferase activities;furthermore,N323A,a mutant of NnOMT6,demonstrated a substantial increase in catalytic efficiency for BIAs and a broader acceptor scope compared with wild-type NnOMT6.To the best of our knowledge,this is the first study to report the O-methyltransferase activity of an aporphine skeleton without benzyl moiety substitutions in N.nucifera.The study findings provide biocatalysts for the semisynthesis of related medical compounds and give insights into protein engineering to strengthen O-methyltransferase activity in plants.Yuetong Yu Yan Liu Gangqiang Dong JinZhu Jiang Liang Leng XianJu Liu Jun Zhang An Liu Sha Chen 2023Horticulture Research2023,10,2:3
6Factors influencing ischemic cerebrovascular disease complicated by hyperhomocysteinemia显示文摘BACKGROUND: Hyperhomocysteinemia, as an important risk factor for ischemic cerebrovascular disease is receiving increasing attention. OBJECTIVE: To analyze whether differences of gender, age, cerebrovascular disease typing, and disease conditions exist when ischemic cerebrovascular disease occurs together with hyperhomocysteinemia. DESIGN: A controlled observation. SETTING: Department of Neurology, Tianjin Huanhu Hospital. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 601 acute ischemic cerebrovascular disease inpatients, comprising 386 males and 215 females, aged 33-90 years old, were admitted to the Department of Stroke, Tianjin Huanhu Hospital between August 2005 and April 2007, and were recruited for this study. All included patients consisted of 342 aged patients (≥ 60 years old) and 92 middle-aged and young patients (< 60 years old). Among these patients, 48 suffered from transient cerebral ischemic attack, 138 from lacunar cerebral infarction, 273 from atherosclerotic stroke, 38 from cardiogenic cerebral infarction, 44 from agnogenic ischemic stroke, and 6 from other factor-induced ischemic strokes. All included inpatients corresponded to the diagnosis criteria of acute ischemic cerebrovascular disease, formulated in the 4th National Working Conference of Cerebrovascular Disease, and were confirmed as acute ischemic cerebral infarction by CT and/or MRI examinations. Informed consents of laboratory measurements were obtained from all subjects, and this study was approved by the Hospital’s Ethics Committee. METHODS: Following admission, 2 mL venous blood was collected from each fasting patient on the third morning. Plasma homocysteine level was measured by an enzymatic cycling assay with a CX5 reader (Beckman, USA). Plasma homocysteine levels ≥ 16 μmol/L were defined as hyperhomocysteinemia. Clinical neurological function deficit scoring was also performed for each ischemic stroke patient using Chinese stroke scales. Scores ranged from 0-45 (0-15: mild neurological function deficits, 16-30: moderate neurological deficits, and 31-45: severe neurological deficits). The scores positively correlated with severity of stroke. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Incidence of ischemic cerebrovascular disease patients complicated by hyperhomocysteinemia and the effects of patient age and gender; plasma homocysteine levels of each type of ischemic cerebrovascular disease; and effects of ischemic cerebrovascular disease conditions on plasma homocysteine levels. RESULTS: All 601 inpatients with acute ischemic cerebrovascular disease were included in the final analysis. The detection rate of homocysteine was significantly higher in aged patients than in middle-aged and young patients (χ2 = 5.353 0, P < 0.05). The incidence of hyperhomocysteinemia was significantly higher in male patients than in female patients (χ2 = 9.484 4, P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of hyperhomocysteinemia among various types of ischemic cerebrovascular diseases (P > 0.05). No significant difference in incidence of hyperhomocysteinemia existed between mild, moderate, and severe cerebrovascular disease patients (P > 0.05). 14Effects of phytonutrients on growth performance, antioxidative status,and energy utilization of broilers fed low energy diets显示文摘Two experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of phytonutrients(PN)on growth performance.antioxidant status,intestinal morphology,and nutrient utilization of birds fed low energy diets.In Exp.1.a total of 1.440 one-day-old Ross 308 male broiler chickens were randomly divided into 3 treatment groups,with 16 replicates per treatment(48 pens;30 birds per pen).Birds in treatment 1 were fed diets with normal energy content(NE).Birds in treatment 2 were fed NE diet but with 60 kcal removed(LE).Birds in treatment 3 were assigned to LE diet supplemented with PN(LE + PN).Results indicated that LE diet increased feed conversion ratio(FCR)compared with NE from d 1 to 38.while LE + PN diet prevented this response(P= 0.02).At d 26.birds in the LE + PN group had the highest ileal and jejunal villus height to crypt depth(VH:CD)ratio.At d 39.PN supplementation improved ileal and jejunal VH:CD ratio,compared with LE group.Moreover,birds fed PN diets received a better economic profit,In Exp.2,360 one-day-old Ross 308 male broiler chickens were used in a metabolism study.The treatments used in Exp.2 were the same as those in Exp.1,with 4 replicates(pens)and 30 birds in each replicate.Dietary apparent metabolism energy(AME),energy and protein digestibility were determined between 21 and 28 d of age.Results showed that chickens fed LE + PN diet tended to have greater AME(P= 0.02)and nictrogen-corrected apparent metabolism energy(AMEn)(P= 0.03)than birds fed LE diets.It was concluded that LE+ PN showed a potential advantage to improve feed conversion and gut health of broilers,as well as economic profits.Lei Yan Sha An Zunzhou Lv Zhengguo Wang Yueming Wu Yutao Zhu Min Zhao Chunhua Sun Mingbin Lv Zhengpeng Zhu Yuming Guo 2019Animal Nutrition2019,,3:1
15Understanding formation of Mg-depletion zones in Al-Mg alloys under high pressure torsion显示文摘Redistribution of elements may take place in alloys during severe plastic deformation, which significantly alters the mechanical properties of the alloys. Therefore, comprehensive knowledge about deformationinduced redistribution of elements has to be established. 17Comparison of two methods for evaluating lower urinary tract symptoms in cervical cancer patients following radical hysterectomy显示文摘Objective:To compare the degree of agreement and consistency of urodynamic studies(UDS)with low urinary tract symptoms(LUTS)questionnaires for evaluating LUTS in cervical cancer patients following radical hysterectomy(RH)and pelvic lymphadenectomy.Methods:From January 2012 to March 2015,204 cervical cancer patients who underwent RH in 13 hospitals were evaluated using the Incontinence Questionnaire-Female Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms(ICIQ-FLUTS)and the Overactive Bladder Symptom Score(OABSS).Urodynamic tests were also performed on these patients during the same period.Results:Study participants’age ranged from 23 to 75 years,with a mean(standard deviation)of 48.0±9.3 years.Using questionnaires,the prevalence of patients with LUTS symptoms,including storage symptoms,voiding symptoms,stress urinary incontinence(SUI)and overactive bladder(OAB)was 86.3%,77.0%,62.7%,52.9%and 14.7%,respectively.For UDS,the corresponding prevalence was 89.7%,70.1%,66.7%,46.6%and 13.2%,respectively.The diagnostic concordance of questionnaires and UDS for storage symptoms,voiding symptoms,SUI and OAB was 79.9%,66.7%,66.7%,57.4%and 79.9%,respectively.For voiding symptoms,the correlation coefficient was 0.272,which was higher than that of storage symptoms,SUI and OAB.Fang An Sha Wang Zhiqi Wang Lingying Wu Qiubo Lv Aiming Lv Hongwu Wen Jinsong Han Yumei Wu Yunong Gao Qing Liu Sumei Wang Hongxia Li Luwen Wang Yanlong Wang Ruifang Wu Huan Li Xiuli Sun 2021Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinical Medicine2021,1,2:0
18Composition-dependent dynamic precipitation and grain refinement in Al-Si system under high-pressure torsion显示文摘Understanding composition effects is crucial for alloy design and development. To date, there is a lack of research comprehensively addressing the effect of alloy composition on dynamic precipitation, segregation and grain refinement under severe-plastic-deformation processing. This research investigates Al-x Si alloys with x = 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0 at.% Si processed by high pressure torsion(HPT) at room temperature by using transmission electron microscopy, transmission Kikuchi diffraction and atom probe tomography. The alloys exhibit interesting composition-dependent grain refinement and fast dynamic decomposition under HPT processing. Si atoms segregate at dislocations and Si precipitates form at grain boundaries(GBs) depending on the Si content of the alloys. The growth of Si precipitates consumes most Si atoms segregating at GBs, hence the size and distribution of the Si precipitates become predominant factors in controlling the grain size of the decomposed Al-Si alloys after HPT processing. 19Relationship between peritoneal macrophages and inflammatory reaction in a rat model of severe acute pancreatitis显示文摘Objective To investigate the relationship between peritoneal macrophages(PMAs)and inflammatory reaction in a rat model of severe acute pancreatitis(SAP).Methods Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control group and SAP group.To induce SAP in rats,40 g/L sodium taurocholate(0.1 mL/100 g)was injected into the pancreatic duct through retrograde exposure of pancreatic bile duct in hepatic porta.One-third of rats were sacrificed at 3,6 or 12 h after modeling.PMAs were extracted,and incubated for 24 h in a humidified 5% carbon dioxide incubator.The expressions of tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α)and interleukin-1β(IL-1β)mRNA in PMAs were measured by semi-quantitative RT-PCR.The levels of TNF-α and IL-1β in culture medium and serum were evaluated.The histological changes of pancreas were examined.Results The expressions of TNF-α mRNA and IL-1β mRNA in PMAs were significantly higher in SAP group than in control group at each time point(P<0.01).The concentrations of TNF-α and IL-1β in culture medium and serum were significantly elevated in SAP group compared with control group(P<0.01).The histological analysis of pancreas indicated that the damage was more severe in SAP group than in control group(P<0.01).Conclusion PMAs secrete cytokines into pancreatitis-associated ascitic fluid,and this study demonstrates a correlation between SAP and the activation of PMAs.Zhen-hua Ma,Qing-yong Ma,Huan-chen Sha,Lian-cai Wang,Mei Zhang Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery,the First Affiliated Hospital,Medical School of Xi’an Jiaotong University,Xi’an 710061,China 2009Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2009,21,4:0
20Anomalous dielectric behavior in nanocrystalline γ-Fe_2O_3显示文摘The measurements of electric capacities and dielectric loss angles for nanocrystalline yFe2O3 under air and vacuum atmospheres have been conducted by using ac LRC method, and the conductivity and the polarization relaxation time have also been calculated from the frequency spectra of real and imaginary parts of the dielectric constants. The anomalous dielectric behavior implies the existence of two kinds of polarization mechanisms with different relaxation times, which are caused by the defects and the dangling bonds in the interfaces, respectively.
