1Predictive value and main determinants of abnormal features of intraoperative cholangiography during cholecystectomy显示文摘BACKGROUND:The major issue with intraoperative cholangiography (IOC) is whether its diagnostic accuracy for common bile duct (CBD) stones matches that of other diagnostic procedures,and thus,whether it will become a routine diagnostic procedure.The current study aimed to address the main determinants of CBD stone diagnosis in IOC among an Iranian population.METHODS:In a retrospective review database-based study conducted in Taleghani Hospital in Tehran between 2006 and 2008,baseline data and perioperative information of 2060 patients (male to female ratio 542:1518,mean age 53.7 years) who were candidates for cholecystectomy and underwent concomitant IOC for confirming CBD stones were reviewed.The predictive power of this procedure for diagnosis of abnormal biliary ducts with the focus on biliary stones was determined.RESULTS:Overall mortality and morbidity following cholecystectomy in the study population were 0.6% and 2.6%,respectively.Both early mortality and morbidity due to cholecystectomy were higher in male than female.The prevalence of CBD stones in IOC was 3.4% (5.2% in male and 2.8% in female,P=0.008).Among those without gallstones,8.7% had CBD stones and only 3.1% had concomitant gallstones and CBD stones.The main predictors of stone appearance as an abnormal feature of IOC during cholecystectomy were:advanced age (OR=1.022,P=0.001),male gender (OR=1.498,P=0.050),history of abdominal surgery (OR=1.543,P=0.040) and preoperative endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (OR=5.400,P<0.001).CONCLUSIONS:IOC is a safe and accurate method for the assessment of bile duct anatomy and stones.Therefore,the routine use of IOC within cholecystectomy seems reasonable and is recommended.Shahram Yousefpour Azary Heshmat Kalbasi Ali Setayesh Mirhadi Mousavi Asad Hashemi Mahsa Khodadoostan Mohammad Reza Zali Amir Houshang Mohammad Alizadeh 2011Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2011,10,3:11
2Overexpression of Galectin-1 and Galectin-3 in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Galectins(Gals)are evolutionarily conserved proteins that bind to b-galactoside containing glycans.Abnormal expression of Gals is associated with the development,progression,and metastasis of different types of cancer.Among the 11 Gals identified in humans,the roles of Gal-1 and Gal-3 have been extensively investigated in various tumors.Here,we summarize the roles of overly expressed Gal-1 and Gal-3 in the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).The overexpression of Gal-1 and Gal-3 correlates with tumor growth,HCC cell migration and invasion,tumor aggressiveness,metastasis,and poor prognosis.A potentially promising future treatment strategy for HCC may include the combination of immunotherapy with Gal-1 inhibition.Additional research is warranted to investigate targeting Gal-1 and Gal-3 for HCC treatment.Tahereh Setayesh Steven D.Colquhoun Yu-Jui Yvonne Wan 2020Liver Research2020,4,4:5

17Engineered FeVO4/CeO2 nanocomposite as a two-way superior electro-Fenton catalyst for model and real wastewater treatment显示文摘FeVO4/CeO2 was applied in the electro-Fenton(EF)degradation of Methyl Orange(MO)as a model of wastewater pollution.The results of the characterization techniques indicate that FeVO4 with triclinic structure and face-centered cubic fluorite CeO2 maintained their structures during the nanocomposite synthesis.The effect of applied current intensity,initial pollutant concentration,initial pH,and catalyst weight was investigated.The MO removal reached 96.31%and chemical oxygen demand(COD)removal 70%for 60 min of the reaction.The presence of CeO2 in the nanocomposite plays a key role in H2O2 electro-generation as a significant factor in the electro-Fenton(EF)system.The metal leaching from FeVO4/CeO2 was negligible(cerium 4.1%,iron 4.3%,and vanadium 1.7%),which indicates that the active species in the nanocomposite are strongly interacting with each other and are stable.The performance of the nanocatalyst in real wastewaters,salty,and binary systems was acceptable and the pollutions were removed efficiently.The synergistic effect between V,Fe,and Ce could be account as the reason for the respectable function of FeVO4/CeO2.The electron transfer proceeds via Haber-Weiss mechanism.A degradation pathway was proposed through by-products analysis using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC–MS)technique.The pseudo-first-order kinetic model described the obtained experimental results(R2=0.9906).The electro-Fenton system efficiency was improved by adding persulfate.The nanocomposite preserved almost its efficiency after six cycles.The obtained results demonstrate that the synergistic catalyst(FeVO4/CeO2)has the capability to introduce as a promising replacement of conventional catalysts in the electro-Fenton processes with brilliant proficiency.Shahrbanoo Rahman Setayesh Pegah Nazari Roghaye Maghbool 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,11:1
