1Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. 2Large-scale blow spinning of heat-resistant nanofibrous air filters显示文摘Particulate matter(PM)pollution has become a serious problem worldwide and various kinds of nanofibrous filters aiming to solve the problem have been developed.It is urgent to remove PM from high-temperature pollution sources,such as industrial emissions,coal furnaces,and automobile exhaust gases.However,filtration at pollution sources remains challenging because most existing air filters are not resistant to high temperature.Herein,heat-resistant polyimide(PI)nanofibrous air filters are fabricated via a simple and scalable solution blow-spinning method.These air filters show excellent thermal stability at high temperature up to 420℃.They exhibit a filtration efficiency as high as 99.73%at ambient temperature and over 97%at 300℃.In addition,a field test shows that the filters remove>97%of PM from the car exhaust fumes.Hence,the blow-spun PI nanofibrous membranes combined with the facile preparation strategy have great potential in high temperature air filtration fields and other similar applications such as water purification and protein separation.Ziwei Li Jianan Song Yuanzheng Long Chao Jia Zhenglian Liu Lei Li Cheng Yang Junchen Liu Sen Lin Haiyang Wang Yibo Liu Minghao Fang Hui Wu 2020Nano Research2020,13,3:6
3Room-temperature production of silver-nanofiber film for large-area, transparent and flexible surface electromagnetic interference shielding显示文摘A kind of pollution known as electromagnetic interference(EMI),which results from ubiquitous usage of various electronic communication and military radar equipment,has been receiving increasing attention recently.However,large-area EMI shielding on transparent and/or curved surfaces,including building windows,curved glass wall,and special requirements spaces(SRSs),remains hard to achieve.In this paper,a silver nanofiber(AgNF)based flexible and transparent EMI shielding film was successfully assembled via a room-temperature roll-to-roll production method.For transparent application scenario,AgNF with 89%transmittance in visible range and 1μm thickness shows~20 dB shielding efficiency(EMI SE).On the other hand,total shielding(>50 dB)is obtained when the thickness of AgNF increases to 10μm,while its transmittance in visible range remains higher than 75%.Considering the facile and scale-free production technology,this material can be readily applied in large-scale,transparent,and/or SRSs EMI shielding.Sen Lin Haiyang Wang Fan Wu Qingmin Wang Xiaopeng Bai Di Zu Jianan Song Dong Wang Zhenglian Liu Ziwei Li Nian Tao Kai Huang Ming Lei Bo Li Hui Wu 2019npj Flexible Electronics2019,3,1:4
4TBN improves motor function and prolongs survival in SOD1G93A and TDP-43M337V mouse model of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis显示文摘OBJECTIVE Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS)is a fatal neurodegenerative dis⁃ease characterized by progressive loss of upper and lower motor neurons that results in skeletal muscle atrophy,weakness and paralysis.Oxida⁃tive stress plays a key role in the pathogenesis of ALS,including familial forms of the disease arising from mutation of the gene coding for superoxide dismutase 1(SOD1).Moreover,although the pathogenesis of ALS is unclear,the abnormal accumulation of TAR DNA-binding pro⁃tein of 43 ku(TDP-43)is a pathological feature that exists in almost all patients.Thus far,there is no drug that can cure ALS/FTLD.Tetramethyl⁃pyrazine nitrone(TBN)is a derivative of tetra⁃methylapyrazine,derived from the traditional Chinese medicine Ligusticum chuanxiong,which has been widely proven to have therapeutic effects on models of various neurodegenerative diseases.TBN is currently under clinical investi⁃gation for several indications including a phaseⅡtrial of ALS.Here,we explored the therapeutic effect of TBN in the SOD1G93A and TDP-43M337V ALS mouse model.METHODS In the SOD1G93A transgenic mouse model,TBN was administered to mice by intraperitoneal or intragastric injection after the onset of motor deficits.At the same time,we unilaterally and bilaterally injected the TDP-43M337V virus into the striatum of the WT mouse,and gave the TBN treatment after the mice developed a phenotype.After administering these two models for a period of time,we con⁃ducted behavioral tests,including rotarod test,balance beam test,climbing pole test,etc,to evaluate the efficacy of TBN on SOD1G93A and TDP-43M337V models.Furthermore,we explored the possible mechanism of action of TBN in the treatment of ALS through Western blotting and immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence staining analysis.RESULTS In the SOD1G93A transgenic mouse model,TBN slowed the pro⁃gression of motor neuron disease as evidenced by improved motor performance,reduced spinal motor neuron loss and the associated glial response,and decreased skeletal muscle fiber denervation and fibrosis.TBN treatment activated mitochondrial antioxidant activity through the PGC-1α/Nrf2/HO-1 pathway and decreased the expression of human SOD1.What′s more,in the TDP-43M337V mice model,the results showed that in mice with unilateral injection of TDP-43M337V,TBN improved motor deficits and cognitive im⁃pairment in the early stages of disease progres⁃sion.In mice with bilateral injection of TDP-43M337V into the striatum,TBN not only improved motor function but also prolonged survival rate.Moreover,we show that its therapeutic effect may be through activation of the Akt/mTOR/GSK-3βand AMPK/PGC-1α/Nrf2 signaling pathways.In summary,TBN is a promising agent for the treat⁃ment of ALS/FTLD.CONCLUSION TBN has shown good efficacy in both SOD1 and TDP-43 ALS-related models,and it may act by activating the AMPK/PGC-1α/Nrf2 signaling pathway,which shows some light for the development of ALS therapeutic drugs.HUANG Chun-hui LI Jun ZHANG Gui-liang LIN Ying-qi LI Cai-juan ZHENG Xiao SONG Xi-cheng HAN Bo-feng GUO Bao-jian TU Zhu-chi ZHANG Jun SUN Ye-wei WANG Yu-qiang YAN Sen ZHANG Zai-jun 2021中国药理学与毒理学杂志2021,35,9:1

6Extended local resection for treatment of periampullary carcinoma of vater显示文摘BACKGROUND: The trauma caused by pancreatoduode- nectomy for periampullary carcinoma of vater is often se- vere and extensive. The purpose of this study was to eva- luate the effect of extended local resection in the treatment of periampullary carcinoma of vater. METHODS: The extra-hepaticobiliary tract, the confluence of the pancreatic and biliary duct, vater ampulla and duo- denal papilla were resected en bloc in 8 patients with peri- ampullary carcinoma from 1995 to 1998. RESULTS: One patient died perioperatively. Duodenal ob- struction developed postoperatively in one of 7 survived pa- tients and was relieved after reoperation. All the 7 patients were followed up for more than 6 months without recur- rence. 7Effects of drug relief hospital-based AIDS educational methods on drug users显示文摘The objective of this study is to explore a potentially effective training method for the hospital professionals to educate drug users and to enhance their knowledge of HIV infection. One hundred and sixty one subjects, who came from 13 different provinces and were admitted in a drug relief hospital in Beijing, were recruited for this study. The average age of these subjects was 35.21±6.24 year old. The average numbers of years for drug addiction were 7 years, and the average numbers of drug relief treatment received in the past was 5.5 times. The level of AIDS knowledge of these subjects, including pathogenic factors, source of infection, route of transmission and preventive measures, were evaluated before and after receiving the AIDS educational training to these drug users. Our results showed that there was a statistically significant increase (P<0.01) in the knowledge of HIV infection and prevention among these subjects. Positive attitude and behavioral tendencies toward HIV prevention were also improved. 9A large-area AgNW-modified textile with high-performance electromagnetic interference shielding显示文摘Manufacturing a flexible,light,large-area,and high-efficiency electromagnetic shielding materials in a straightforward and cost-effective manner presently remains a significant challenge.In this work,we propose a conductive network design and verify its electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding effectiveness(SE)by simulation.Using the structure and parameters obtained by simulation,we prepare a flexible EMI shielding material using silver nanowires(AgNWs)/polyvinyl butyral(PVB)ethanol solution and textile substructure via a facile immersing method.In the frequency range of 5-18 GHz,the AgNWs/PVB textile with 1.4 mm thickness achieves an EMI SE of 59 dB,which exceeds the requirements for commercial applications.Due to the low density of 56 mg/cm^(3),specific shielding effectiveness(SSE)of this material reaches 1053 dB m^(3)/g.It is found that the AgNWs/PVB textile is more resistant to washing with water and oxidation than AgNWs textile without a PVB protector.As a result,the conductivity of AgNWs/PVB textile exhibits no change after washing with water and varies slightly after being kept in hot air.We find that a signal monitor is unable to detect a signal emitted by a mobile phone from a jacket lined with AgNWs/PVB textile.AgNWs/PVB textile with these properties can be mass-produced as high-efficiency EMI shielding material for commercial applications.Junchen Liu Sen Lin Kai Huang Chao Jia Qingmin Wang Ziwei Li Jianan Song Zhenglian Liu Haiyang Wang Ming Lei Hui Wu 2020npj Flexible Electronics2020,4,1:0

11Differential development and electrophysiological activity in cultured cortical neurons from the mouse and cynomolgus monkey显示文摘In vitro cultures of primary cortical neurons are widely used to investigate neuronal function.However,it has yet to be fully investigated whether there are significant differences in development and function between cultured rodent and primate cortical neurons,and whether these differences influence the utilization of cultured cortical neurons to model pathological conditions.Using in vitro culture techniques combined with immunofluorescence and electrophysiological methods,our study found that the development and maturation of primary cerebral cortical neurons from cynomolgus monkeys were slower than those from mice.We used a microelectrode array technique to compare the electrophysiological differences in cortical neurons,and found that primary cortical neurons from the mouse brain began to show electrical activity earlier than those from the cynomolgus monkey.Although cultured monkey cortical neurons developed slowly in vitro,they exhibited typical pathological features-revealed by immunofluorescent staining-when infected with adeno-associated viral vectors expressing mutant huntingtin(HTT),the Huntington’s disease protein.A quantitative analysis of the cultured monkey cortical neurons also confirmed that mutant HTT significantly reduced the length of neurites.Therefore,compared with the primary cortical neurons of mice,cultured monkey cortical neurons have longer developmental and survival times and greater sustained physiological activity,such as electrophysiological activity.Our findings also suggest that primary cynomolgus monkey neurons cultured in vitro can simulate a cell model of human neurodegenerative disease,and may be useful for investigating time-dependent neuronal death as well as treatment via neuronal regeneration.All mouse experiments and protocols were approved by the Animal Care and Use Committee of Jinan University of China(IACUC Approval No.20200512-04)on May 12,2020.All monkey experiments were approved by the IACUC protocol(IACUC Approval No.LDACU 20190820-01)on August 23,2019 for animal management and use.Xue-Yan Zhang Jun Li Cai-Juan Li Ying-Qi Lin Chun-Hui Huang Xiao Zheng Xi-Chen Song Zhu-Chi Tu Xiao-Jiang Li Sen Yan 2021Neural Regeneration Research2021,16,12:0

13An ultralight,flexible,and biocompatible all-fiber motion sensor for artificial intelligence wearable electronics显示文摘New-generation human body motion sensors for wearable electronics and intelligent medicine are required to comply with stringent requirements in terms of ultralight weight,flexibility,stability,biocompatibility,and extreme precision.However,conventional sensors are hard to fulfill all these criteria due to their rigid structure,high-density sensing materials used as the constituents,as well as hermetical and compact assembly strategy.Here,we report an ultralight sensing material based on radial anisotropic porous silver fiber(RAPSF),which has been manufactured by phase separation and temperature-controlled grain growth strategy on a modified blow-spinning system.The resistance of RAPSF could be dynamically adjusted depending on the deflected shape.Furthermore,an all-fiber motion sensor(AFMS)with an ultra-low density of 68.70 mg cm^(−3) and an overall weigh of 7.95 mg was fabricated via layer-by-layer assembly.The sensor exhibited outstanding flexibility,breathability,biocompatibility,and remarkable body motion recognition ability.Moreover,the AFMS was shown to have great potential as an artificial intelligence throat sensor for throat state identification at the accuracy above 85%,allowing one to spot the early onset of the viral throat illness.Sen Lin Shuang Hu Wei Song Miaoqing Gu Junchen Liu Jianan Song Zhenglian Liu Ziwei Li Kun Huang Yufeng Wu Ming Lei Hui Wu 2022npj Flexible Electronics2022,6,1:0
14Flexible organic integrated electronics for self-powered multiplexed ocular monitoring显示文摘Smart contact lens has drawn extensive research interests due to the noninvasive real-time detection of the human body to provide biomedical information for health management.However,it has been difficult to accurately measure the physiological signals in tears,and the use of external power source has also hindered the future applications.Here,we demonstrated an organic electrochemical transistor based multiplexed sensors self-powered by the organic solar cells(OSCs).The integrated device was fabricated via simple process including solution blade-coating and thermal evaporation.OSCs were optimized to provide optimal operation voltage for the sensors that exhibit semilog-linear response to the glucose and calcium ions in tear fluids without any peripheral circuits.The sensing signals can be transmitted to the laptop wirelessly through a near filed communication unit.This integrated self-powered multiplexed sensing device will provide real-time monitoring of the biomarkers in tears,prospected to be installed on the smart contact lens for the early detection and diagnosis of diabetes.Baojun Lin Meng Wang Chao Zhao Shijie Wang Kai Chen Xiao Li Zaishang Long Chenxu Zhao Xinyue Song Sen Yan Laili Wang Wei Ma 2022npj Flexible Electronics2022,6,1:0
15Combining Multiple Factors of LightGBM and XGBoost Algorithms to Predict the Morbidity of Double-High Disease显示文摘In recent years, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases have seriously jeopardized people’s health. Double-high (hyperlipidemia and hypertension) is one of the main causes of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in clinical practice. To diagnose cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases early, a reliable prediction system should be developed to assist doctors. In this paper, the different elements and evaluate the weight of these elements on double-high diseases are analyzed by machine learning method. The LightGBM algorithm and XGBoost algorithm were employed to construct the prediction models, respectively. Significantly, the proposed model was trained by real physical examination data and five meaningful and useful biochemical indicators were selected to encoding the raw physical examination data to numerical vector. The selected features are systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, serum triglyceride, serum high-density lipoprotein and serum low-density lipoprotein. The mean square error (MSE) after calculating the logarithm of the predicted value and the true value was introduced to assess the prediction model.
