1Underground void filling by cemented mill tailings显示文摘Underground mining always create voids.These voids can cause subsidence of surface.So it is always a demand to fill the void in such a manner that the effect of underground mining can be minimized.Void filling using mill tailings especially in metal mining is one of the best techniques.The tailings produced in milling process have traditionally been disposed in tailing ponds creating a waste disposal and environmental problems in terms of land degradation,air and water pollution,etc.This disposal practice is more acute in the metal milling industry where the fine grinding,required for value liberation,results in the production of very fine tailings in large percentage.This paper includes discussions on the effectiveness of different paste mixes with varying cement contents in paste backfilling operations.The results revealed that material composition and use of super plasticizer strongly influenced the strength of cemented backfill.Choudhary Bhanwar Singh Kumar Santosh 2013International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2013,23,6:18
2Recent advances on the association of apoptosis in chronic non healing diabetic wound显示文摘Generally, wounds are of two categories, such as chronic and acute. Chronic wounds takes time to heal when compared to the acute wounds. Chronic wounds include vasculitis, non healing ulcer, pyoderma gangrenosum, and diseases that cause ischemia. Chronic wounds are rapidly increasing among the elderly population with dysfunctional valves in their lower extremity deep veins, ulcer, neuropathic foot and pressure ulcers. The process of the healing of wounds has several steps with the involvement of immune cells and several other cell types. There are many evidences supporting the hypothesis that apoptosis of immune cells is involved in the wound healing process by ending inflammatory condition. It is also involved in the resolution of various phases of tissue repair. During final steps of wound healing most of the endothelial cells, macrophagesand myofibroblasts undergo apoptosis or exit from the wound, leaving a mass that contains few cells and consists mostly of collagen and other extracellular matrix proteins to provide strength to the healing tissue. This review discusses the various phases of wound healing both in the chronic and acute wounds especially during diabetes mellitus and thus support the hypothesis that the oxidative stress, apoptosis, connexins and other molecules involved in the regulation of chronic wound healing in diabetes mellitus and gives proper understanding of the mechanisms controlling apoptosis and tissue repair during diabetes and may eventually develop therapeutic modalities to fasten the healing process in diabetic patients.Awadhesh K Arya Richik Tripathi Santosh Kumar Kamlakar Tripathi 2014World Journal of Diabetes2014,5,6:14

4Antioxidant and antimutagenic activities of bark extract of Terminalia arjuna显示文摘Objective:The alcoholic extract of stem bark of Terminalia arjuna(ALTA) was screened for antioxidant and antimutagenic(anticlastogenic) activity.Methods:Antioxidant property was determined by l,l,Diphynyl,2-Picryl hydrazyl(DPPH) assay,super oxide radical scavenging activity,lipid peroxidation assay and total polyphenolic content was determined by Folin-Ciocalteau’s reagent.Antimutagenic activity was evaluated using micronucleus test in mice. Results:The ALTA has shown potent antioxidant activity with EC50 of 2.491±0.160,50.110±0.150 & 71.000±0.250 in DPPH assay,superoxide radical scavenging activity and lipid peroxidation assay, which is comparable with ascorbic acid with EC50 of 2.471±0.140,40.500±0.390 and 63.000±0.360 respectively.In micronucleus test,ALTA(100 & 200 mg/kg,p.o.) showed significant reduction in percentage of micronucleus in both polychromatic erythrocytes(PCE) and normochromatie erythrocytes(NCE) and also shown significant reduction in P/N ratio.Conclusions:These results suggested that ALTA possess significant antioxidant and antimutagenic activity.Gollapalle Lakshminarayana shastry Viswanatha Santosh Kumar Vaidya Ramesh C Nandakumar Krishnadas Srinath Rangappa 2010Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2010,3,12:9
5MicroRNA-99a mimics inhibit M1 macrophage phenotype and adipose tissue inflammation by targeting TNFα显示文摘In human adipose tissue and obesity,miR-99a expression is negatively correlated with inflammation.Therefore,the present study investigated the role of miR-99a in macrophage phenotype activation and adipose tissue inflammation.M2 BMDMs showed a significant increase in miR-99a expression when compared to the M0 and M1 phenotypes.Phenotype-switching experiments established an association between upregulated miR-99a expression and the M2 phenotype.Overexpression of miR-99a prevented M1 phenotype activation and attenuated bactericidal activity.Likewise,knockdown of miR-99a abolished M2 phenotype activation.By means of in silico target prediction tools and a luciferase reporter assay,TNFαwas identified as a direct target of miR-99a.Knockdown of TNFαrecapitulated the effect of miR-99a overexpression in M1 BMDMs.In a db/db mice model,miR-99a expression was reduced in eWAT and F4/80+ATMs.Systemic overexpression of miR-99a in db/db mice attenuated adipocyte hypertrophy with increased CD301 and reduced CD86 immunostaining.Flow cytometry analysis also showed an increased M2 and a reduced M1 macrophage population.Mimics of miR-99a also improved the diabetic dyslipidemia and insulin signaling in eWAT and liver,with an attenuated expression of gluconeogenesis and cholesterol metabolism genes in the liver.Furthermore,adoptive transfer of miR-99a-overexpressing macrophages in the db/db mice recapitulated in vivo miR-99a mimic effects with increased M2 and reduced M1 macrophage populations and improved systemic glucose,insulin sensitivity,and insulin signaling in the eWAT and liver.The present study demonstrates that miR-99a mimics can regulate macrophage M1 phenotype activation by targeting TNFα.miR-99a therapeutics in diabetic mice reduces the adipose tissue inflammation and improves insulin sensitivity.Anant Jaiswal Sukka Santosh Reddy Mohita Maurya Preeti Maurya Manoj Kumar Barthwal 2019Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,5:7
6Retinal structural-vascular-functional relationship using optical coherence tomography and optical coherence tomography -angiography in myopia显示文摘Background:To examine the retinal structure–vascular-function relationship using optical coherence tomography(OCT)and optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA)in myopia.Methods:This was a prospective cross-sectional study comprising 86 eyes of 45 individuals with varying axial lengths and spherical equivalents and no posterior segment abnormalities.All eyes underwent optical coherence tomography with the Spectralis SD-OCT and OCTA with RTVue-XR Avanti;Optovue.Individual macular retinal layer thicknesses and flow areas and vessel densities were measured on OCT and OCTA,respectively.Linear correlations were made between the macular layer thicknesses,flow areas and vessel densities with axial length,spherical equivalent and visual acuity.Results:The participants’mean ages were 33.34±14.45 years,mean spherical equivalent refractions were−7.17±5.71 D and axial lengths were 25.95±2.41 mm.There were significant positive correlations of foveal angle(r=0.757,p=0.001),inner retinal(r=0.764,p=0.001)and outer plexiform layer(r=0.771,p=0.001)thickness on OCT and vessel densities in deep capillary plexus(r=0.313,p=0.003)on OCTA with axial length and negative correlations with spherical equivalents and visual acuity.Significant negative correlations of outer nuclear layer(r=−0.560,p=0.03)and photoreceptor outer segment layer thickness(r=−0.856,p<0.001)were noted on OCT with axial length and positive correlations with spherical equivalents and visual acuity.Conclusion:The lateral retinal stretching in myopia could possibly explain the correlation between retinal layer thickness,vascular density and visual acuity in these eyes.Further research is required to investigate this.Ramesh Venkatesh Shivani Sinha Deepika Gangadharaiah Santosh G.K.Gadde Ashwin Mohan Rohit Shetty Naresh Kumar Yadav 2019Eye and Vision2019,6,1:7
7Evaluation of wound healing and antimicrobial potentials of Ixora coccinea root extract显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the wound healing and antimicrobial activity of root extracts of Ixora coccinea(I.coccinea).Methods:To investigate the wound healing efficacy of root extract of I.coccinea Linn,five groups of animals were divided each containing six animals.Two wound models including incision and excision wound models were used in this study.The parameters studied were tensile strength on incision wound model and in terms of wound contraction for excision wound model were compared with standard Nitrofurazone(NFZ) ointment(0.2%w/w). Six extracts(ethanol.aqueous,petroleum ether,benzene,chloroform and ethyl acetate ) of I. coccinea were screened for in vitro growth inhibiting activity against different bacterial strains riz. Staphylococcia aureus.Bacillus pumilius,Enterococcus facialis.Escherichia coli,Salmonella typhi and Pseudomonas aeruginosa and fungi Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger were compared with the standard drugs ciprofloxacin and chloramphenicol for antibacterial and griscofulvin for antifungal screening.The serial dilution and cup(or) well plate methods were used for the antimicrobial study and MIC was determined.Results:The ethanolic extract showed significant (P<0.001) wound healing activity when compared to standard drug NFZ with respect to normal control group.Amongst all.ethanolic extract showed highly significant antibacterial activity against all bacterial strains used in this study when compared to standard.The aqueous extract showed moderate significant inhibition against all bacterial strains when compared to standard. All the extracts were shown negligible activity against the fungal strains used in this study. 8Predicting the impact of climate change on the distribution of two threatened Himalayan medicinal plants of Liliaceae in Nepal显示文摘Predicting the potential distribution of medicinal plants in response to climate change is essential for their conservation and management. Contributing to the management program, this study aimed to predict the distribution of two threatened medicinal plants, Fritillaria cirrhosa and Lilium nepalense. The location of focal species gathered from herbarium specimen housed in different herbaria and online databases were geo-referenced and checked for spatial autocorrelation. The predictive environmental variables were selected, and MaxE nt software was used to model the current and future distributions of focal species. Four Representative Concentration Pathway(RCP) trajectories of the BCC-CSM1.1 model were used as the future(2050) projection layer. The MaxEnt modelling delineated the potential distribution of F. cirrhosa and L. nepalense. The current suitability is projected towards Central and Eastern Hilly/Mountainous regions. Both species gainmaximum suitability in RCP 4.5 which decline towards other trajectories for L. nepalense. Overall, both the focal species shift towards the north-west, losing their potential habitat in hilly and lower mountainous regions by 2050 across all trajectories. Our results highlight the impact of future climate change on two threatened and valuable species. 9Plant endemism in the Nepal Himalayas and phytogeographical implications显示文摘Nepal is located in the central part of the greater Himalayan range with a unique series of mountain chains formed by recent mountain building geological events. As one of the youngest mountains in the world it contributes to diversity of plants and also provided barriers to and corridors through which plants migrated during the ice ages. The higher altitudinal variation with the high mountains, deep river valleys and lowland plains combine with the effects of the summer monsoon and dry winter result with an extraordinary diversity of ecosystems including flora and fauna in a relatively small land area. The existing checklists for Nepal record some 6000 species of flowering plants and about 530 ferns. However, the botanical experts estimate that numbers may go up to 7000 when the poorly known remote regions are fully explored. The information on plant endemism in Nepal Himalaya is not adequately known as Nepal is still struggling to complete long awaited Flora of Nepal project. Endemic species are confined to specific areas and are the first to be affected by land use and other global changes. We sought to explore the spatial distribution of endemic plant species in Nepal in relation to the consequences associated with climatic and geologic changes over time in the region with the help of published literature. It was found that the endemism showed marked spatial variation between open moist habitat and dry inner valleys, the former with higher endemism. The updated records showed 312 flowering plant species to be endemic to Nepal with higher endemism around the elevation of 3800e4200 m at sea level. The recent human population explosion, intensified deforestation, habitat fragmentation and modern day environmental changes are posing greater threats to endemic plant in Nepal. The conservation status and threats to these peculiar species are unknown. 10Carbon dioxide adsorption and cycloaddition reaction of epoxides using chitosan–graphene oxide nanocomposite as a catalyst显示文摘One of today's major challenges is to provide green materials for a cleaner environment. We have conducted studies on carbon dioxide(CO2) adsorption and conversion to valuable products by an ecofriendly approach based in chitosan/graphene oxide(CSGO) nanocomposite film. Rheological behavior indicates that the CSGO has a better solvation property than the pure chitosan. An adsorption capacity of 1.0152 mmol CO_2/g of CSGO nanocomposite at4.6 bar was observed. The catalytic behavior of the CSGO nanocomposite in the presence of tetra-n-butylammonium iodide(n-Bu4 NI) as co-catalyst was evaluated for the cycloaddition of CO_2 to epoxides, to give cyclic carbonates, in the absence of any solvent. 11Geoclimatic factors influence the population genetic connectivity of Incarvillea arguta(Bignoniaceae)in the Himalaya-Hengduan Mountains biodiversity hotspot显示文摘Geoclimatic factors related to the uplift of the Himalaya and the Quaternary climatic oscillations in fluence the population genetic connectivity in the Himalaya-Hengduan Mountains(HHM)biodiversity hotspot.Therefore,to explore the relative roles played by these two factors,we examined the population dynamics and dispersal corridors of Incarvillea arguta(Royle)Royle incorporating ensemble species distribution modelling(SDM).Thirty-seven populations were genotyped using plastid chloroplast DNA and low copy nuclear gene(ncpCS)sequences.Phylogeographic analysis was carried out to reveal the genetic structure and lineage differentiation.Ensemble SDMs were carried out for distributional change in the last glacial maximum,present,and future.Finally,the least cost path method was used to trace out possible dispersal corridors.The haplotypes were divided into four clades with strong geographical structure.The late Miocene origin of I.arguta in the western Himalaya ca.7.92 Ma indicates lineage diversification related to the uplift of the HHM.The variability in habitat connectivity revealed by SDM is due to change in suitability since the Pleistocene.A putative dispersal corridor was detected along the drainage systems and river valleys,with strong support in the eastern Hengduan Mountains group.Our results support the signature of geoclimatic influence on population genetic connectivity of I.arguta in the HHM.We proposed that the major drainage systems might have assisted the rapid dispersal of isolated riverine plant species I.arguta in the HHM.The population genetic connectivity,using the fine-tuned ensemble SDMs,enables scientists and policymakers to develop conservation strategies for the species gene pool in the HHM biodiversity hotspots.Santosh Kumar Rana Dong Luo Hum Kala Rana Alexander Robert O'Neill Hang Sun 2021Journal of Systematics and Evolution2021,59,1:3

13CFD modeling to study the effect of particle size on dispersion in 20l explosion chamber: An overview显示文摘Mine disasters occur predominantly due to methane or coal dust explosion or a combination of both.Among the top ten worst coal mine disasters in India, nine are due to coal dust explosion. The current paper describes a general overview of the parameters causing dispersion leading to coal dust explosion,and computational fluid dynamics(CFD) simulation study to observe the effects of particle size on dispersion in Indian coal mines. Turbulent kinetic energy(TKE) and velocity vector path of dust-air mixture and dust-free air were simulated to understand their effects on coal dust dispersion. The TKE contours and velocity vector paths for dust-free air were uniform and symmetrical due to resistance-free path available. The TKE contours and velocity vector paths for dust-air mixture shows the asymmetrical distribution of contours, due to entrainment of air with dust particles. Vortices were observed in velocity vector paths which gradually diminish on increment of time sequence. 16Cardioprotective activity of alcoholic extract of Tinospora cordifolia (Willd.) Miers in calcium chloride-induced cardiac arrhythmia in rats显示文摘The present study investigated the antiarrhythmic activity of alcoholic extract of Tinospora cordifolia (T.cordifolia) in CaCl 2 induced arrhythmia.CaCl 2 (25 mg/kg) was administered by intravenous infusion (iv) to produce arrhythmia in rats.The animals were then treated with T.cordifolia extract (150,250,and 450 mg/kg) and verapamil (5 mg/kg,iv).Lead II electrocardiogram was monitored.Plasma calcium,sodium and potassium levels were measured.In CaCl 2 induced arrhythmia,heart rate was decreased by 41.10%,T.cordifolia at 150,300,and 450 mg/kg decreased the heart rate by 26.30%,29.16%,and 38.29%,respectively,and verapamil reduced the heart rate by 9.70% compared to the normal group.The PQRST waves were normalized and atrial and ventricular fibrillation was controlled in rats treated with verapamil and T.cordifolia.CaCl 2 increased calcium and sodium levels and decreased potassium levels in blood.T.cordifolia dose-dependently decreased calcium and sodium levels and increased potassium levels.Hence,T.cordifolia can be used in antiarrhythmic clinical settings and beneficial in atrial and ventricular fibrillation and flutter and may be indicated in ventricular tachyarrhythmia.Ashish Kumar Sharma Kunal Kishore Divya Sharma B.P Srinivasan Shyam Sunder Agarwal Ashok Sharma Santosh Kumar Singh Samir Gaur Vijay Singh Jatav 2011The Journal of Biomedical Research2011,25,4:2
17TGA/DSC study to characterise and classify coal seams conforming to susceptibility towards spontaneous combustion显示文摘Thermogravimetric analysis/differential scanning calorimeter(TGA/DSC)technique along with basic coal characteristics study is carried out for eighty coal samples of Indian coalfields,to determine spontaneous combustion propensity behaviour of coal.TGA study of coal samples indicates that there is an increase in the mass of coal samples in the temperature range 150-350℃,which may be due to oxygen adsorption and absorption.The correlation and principal component analysis states that the component of proximate analysis(M_(ad),VM_(d),FR,and VR)have an acceptable correlation with the TGA experiments results i.e.,Tgsh and Tgign.Multiple fixed nonlinear regression analysis shows that thermogravimetry(TG)experiment results Tgign may be the best index to categorise/classify the coal as per their susceptibility towards spontaneous combustion.The authors proposed four groups of classification as per their propensity towards spontaneous combustion depending upon the moisture(M_(ad)),volatile matter(VM_(d)),and TG ignition temperature from differential thermogravimetric(DTG)curve(Tgign)using hierarchal clustering analysis.The coal samples of different seams from Indian coalfield may be classified into four different clusters,viz.very highly/extremely susceptible(Tgign<260℃),highly susceptible(260℃≤Tgign<290℃),moderately susceptible(290℃≤Tgign≤320℃),and poorly susceptible(Tgign>320℃).The field observations and TGA/DSC experiment results with the following statistical analysis substantiate a similar assessment.Niroj Kumar Mohalik Somu Mandal Santosh Kumar Ray Asfar Mobin Khan Debashish Mishra Jai Krishna Pandey 2022International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2022,32,1:2
18Analysis of asphalt mix surface-tread rubber interaction by using finite element method显示文摘The surface texture of the pavement plays a very important role in driving the frictional properties at the tire rubber-pavement interface. Particularly, the hysteretic friction due to viscoelastic deformations of rubber depends mainly on the pavement surface texture. In the present paper, the effect of micromechanical pavement surface morphology on rubber block friction was brought in by comparing the friction results for three different asphalt mix morphological surfaces, named stone mastic asphalt(SMA), ultra-thin surfacing(UTS) and porous asphalt(PA). The asphalt surface morphologies of these mixes were captured by using an X-ray tomographer, from which the resulting images micromechanical finite element(FE) meshes for SMA, UTS and PA pavements were developed by means of the SimpleWare software. In the FE model, the rubber and asphalt binder were modeled as viscoelastic(VE) materials and the formulation was given in the large deformation framework. FE simulations were then carried out by using contact algorithm between rubber and the road surface. It was observed that the rubber friction inversely varies with the sliding speed and positively varies with the pressure for all the pavement morphological and stiffness conditions. 19Artificial neural network-based merging score for Meta search engine显示文摘Several users use metasearch engines directly or indirectly to access and gather data from more than one data sources. The effectiveness of a metasearch engine is majorly determined by the quality of the results and it returns and in response to user queries. The rank aggregation methods which have been proposed until now exploits very limited set of parameters such as total number of used resources and the rankings they achieved from each individual resource. In this work, we use the neural network to merge the score computation module effectively. Initially, we give a query to different search engines and the top n list from each search engine is chosen for further processing our technique. We then merge the top n list based on unique links and we do some parameter calculations such as title based calculation, snippet based calculation, content based calculation, domain calculation, position calculation and co-occurrence calculation. We give the solutions of the calculations with user given ranking of links to the neural network to train the system. The system then rank and merge the links we obtain from different search engines for the query we give. Experimentation results reports a retrieval effectiveness of about 80%, precision of about 79% for user queries and about 72% for benchmark queries. 20Pressure recovery characteristics for a dilute gas-particle suspension flowing vertically downward in a pipe with a sudden expansion: A two-fluid modeling approach显示文摘This work applies the Eulerian-Eulerian model in conjunction with the kinetic theory of granular flow and inter-particle collisions to study the characteristics of pressure recovery for a dilute gas-particle suspension flowing through a pipe with a sudden expansion at a relatively higher solid loading.To do so,the numerical procedure was validated against experimental results for relatively small dilute phase flows in a pipe with a sudden expansion;a satisfactory agreement was obtained.Initially,the effect of the two significant numerical parameters namely,the speculairty coefficient and the coefficient of restitution for particle-particle collisions were investigated and then,for fixed combinations of these parameters the effect of particle-phase volume fraction,particle density,particle size,and inlet slip ratio were studied.It was concluded that pressure recovery diminishes as the speculairty coefficient increases and the particle-particle coefficient of restitution decreases.Pressure recovery was found to increase with increasing solid volume fraction for coarse particles whereas,for fine particles,a critical volume fraction is obtained above which pressure recovery reduces.An increase in slip ratio is found to diminish pressure recovery.Similarly,at relatively higher solid volume fractions,a critical diameter was found,above and below which pressure recovery decreases.Santosh Kumar Senapati Sukanta Kumar Dash 2020Particuology2020,18,3:2
