| 1 | Assessment of scoring systems for acute-on-chronic liver failure at predicting short-term mortality in patients with alcoholic hepatitis显示文摘AIM To assess the performance of proposed scores specific for acute-on-chronic liver failure in predicting shortterm mortality among patients with alcoholic hepatitis.METHODS We retrospectively collected data from 264 patients with clinically diagnosed alcoholic hepatitis from January to December 2013 at 21 academic hospitals in Korea. The performance for predicting short-term mortality was calculated for Chronic Liver FailureSequential Organ Failure Assessment(CLIF-SOFA), CLIF Consortium Organ Failure score(CLIF-C OFs), Maddrey'sdiscriminant function(DF), age, bilirubin, international normalized ratio and creatinine score(ABIC), Glasgow Alcoholic Hepatitis Score(GAHS), model for end-stage liver disease(MELD), and MELD-Na.RESULTS Of 264 patients, 32(12%) patients died within 28 d. The area under receiver operating characteristic curve of CLIF-SOFA, CLIF-C OFs, DF, ABIC, GAHS, MELD, and MELD-Na was 0.86(0.81-0.90), 0.89(0.84-0.92), 0.79(0.74-0.84), 0.78(0.72-0.83), 0.81(0.76-0.86), 0.83(0.78-0.88), and 0.83(0.78-0.88), respectively, for 28-d mortality. The performance of CLIF-SOFA had no statistically significant differences for 28-d mortality. The performance of CLIF-C OFs was superior to that of DF, ABIC, and GAHS, while comparable to that of MELD and MELD-Na in predicting 28-d mortality. | 2 | Gender differences in adult traumatic brain injury according to the Glasgow coma scale:A multicenter descriptive study显示文摘Purpose:Patients’gender,which can be one of the most important determinants of traumatic brain injury(TBI)outcomes,is also likely to interact with many other outcome variables of TBI.This multicenter descriptive study investigated gender differences in epidemiological,clinical,treatment,mortality,and variable characteristics in adult TBI patients.Methods:The selection criteria were defined as patients who had been diagnosed with TBI and were admitted to the hospital between January 1,2016 and December 31,2018.A total of 4468 adult TBI patients were enrolled at eight University Hospitals.Based on the list of enrolled patients,the medical records of the patients were reviewed and they were registered online at each hospital.The registered patients were classified into three groups according to the Glasgow coma scale(GCS)score:mild(13-15),moderate(9-12),and severe(3-8),and the differences between men and women in each group were investigated.The risk factors of moderated and severe TBI compared to mild TBI were also investigated.Results:The study included 3075 men and 1393 women and the proportion of total males was 68.8%.Among all the TBI patients,there were significant differences between men and women in age,past history,and GCS score.While the mild and severe TBI groups showed significant differences in age,past history,and clinical symptoms,the moderate TBI group showed significant differences in age,past history,cause of justice,and diagnosis.Conclusion:To the best of our knowledge,this multicenter study is the first to focus on gender differences of adult patients with TBI in Korea.This study shows significant differences between men and women in many aspects of adult TBI.Therefore,gender differences should be strongly considered in TBI studies. | Ki Seong Eom Jang Hun Kim Sang Hoon Yoon Seong-jong Lee Kyung-Jae Park Sung-Kon Ha Jin-gyu Choi Kwang-Wook Jo JongYeon Kim Suk Hyung Kang Jong-Hyun Kim | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Traumatology2021，24，6： | 3 |

| 14 | Effects of dietary supplementation of bacteriophage cocktail on health status of weanling pigs in a non-sanitary environment显示文摘Background The study evaluated the effects of bacteriophage cocktail(BP)and ZnO administered during weaning time for piglets exposed to a non-sanitary environment.The bacteriophages were designed to eliminate Escherichia coli(K88,K99 and F41),Salmonella(typhimurium and enteritidis),and Clostridium perfreingens(types A and C).Forty 21-day-old crossbreed piglets were assigned to four treatments,including the PC(sanitary environment),NC(nonsanitary environment),BP(NC plus 108 pfu/kg BP),and ZO(NC plus 2,500 mg/kg ZnO).Piglets in the NC,BP and ZO were kept in a non-sanitary environment for 14 d,which was contaminated with the feces of infected pigs.Results Pigs in the BP and ZO treatments had a higher final body weight compared with the NC.The NC treatment showed the highest concentration of inflammatory cytokines including interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor-αin the plasma.The administration of BP and ZO showed lower myeloperoxidase concentrations compared with the NC.The NC treatment showed a lower concentration of superoxide dismutase in serum compared with the PC.Among the treatments in non-sanitary environment,the NC treatment showed a higher concentration of malondialdehyde compared with the ZO.The PC treatment showed a lower concentration of butyric acid in the feces compared with the BP treatment.Among non-sanitary treatments,the villus height in the duodenum was greater in the BP and ZO compared with the NC.The lower abundance of Proteobacteria phylum was observed in the BP and PC treatments compared with the NC.The highest relative abundance of Eubacterium was recorded in the BP treatment.The abundance of Megasphaera and Schwartzia was higher in the NC pigs compared with the BP piglets.The abundance of Desulfovibrio was lower in the supplemented treatments(BP and ZO)compared with non-supplemented(NC and PC).The abundance of Cellulosilyticum genera was higher in the BP and ZO treatments rather than in the NC.The piglets in the NC treatment had the highest abundance of Escherichia-Shigella,followed by the PC and ZO treatments.Conclusion In conclusion,these results suggest that the supplementation of bacteriophage cocktail could effectively control Proteobacteria phylum,Clostridium spp.and coliforms population and mitigated the adverse influences of weaning stress in piglets. | YoHan Choi Abdolreza Hosseindoust Sang Hun Ha Joeun Kim YeJin Min YongDae Jeong JunYoung Mun SooJin Sa JinSoo Kim | 2023 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023，14，4： | 0 |
