2Transport, signaling, and homeostasis of potassium and sodium in plants显示文摘Potassium(Kt) is an essential macronutrient in plants and a lack of Ktsignificantly reduces the potential for plant growth and development. By contrast, sodium(Nat),while beneficial to some extent, at high concentrations it disturbs and inhibits various physiological processes and plant growth. Due to their chemical similarities, some functions of Kt can be undertaken by Natbut Kthomeostasis is severely affected by salt stress, on the other hand. Recent advances have highlighted the fascinating regulatory mechanisms of Kt and Nattransport and signaling in plants. 3Noninvasive Parameters and hepatic fibrosis scores in children with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the noninvasive parameters and hepatic fibrosis scores in obese children with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).METHODS:A total of 77 children diagnosed with NAFLD via liver biopsy were included and divided into 2 subgroups according to the histopathologic staging of hepatic fibrosis:mild(stage 0-1)vs significant fibrosis(stage 2-4).Clinical and laboratory parameters were evaluated in each patient.The aspartate aminotransferase(AST)/alanine aminotransferase(ALT)ratio,AST/platelet ratio index(APRI),PGA index,Forns index,FIB-4,NAFLD fibrosis score,and pediatric NAFLD fibrosis index(PNFI)were calculated.RESULTS:No clinical or biochemical parameter exhibited a significant difference between patients with mild and significant fibrosis.Among noninvasive hepatic fibrosis scores,only APRI and FIB4 revealed a significant difference between patients with mild and significant fibrosis(APRI:0.67±0.54 vs 0.78±0.38,P=0.032 and FIB4:0.24±0.12 vs 0.31±0.21,P=0.010).The area under the receiving operating characteristic curve of FIB4 was 0.81,followed by Forns index(0.73),APRI(0.70),NAFLD fibrosis score(0.58),AST/ALT ratio(0.53),PGA score(0.45),and PNFI(0.41).CONCLUSION:APRI and FIB4 might be useful noninvasive hepatic fibrosis scores for predicting hepatic fibrosis in children with NAFLD.Hye Ran Yang Hae Ryoung Kim Myung Jin Kim Jae Sung Ko Jeong Kee Seo 2012World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,13:15
4Finger vein recognition using weighted local binary pattern code based on a support vector machine显示文摘Finger vein recognition is a biometric technique which identifies individuals using their unique finger vein patterns. It is reported to have a high accuracy and rapid processing speed. In addition, it is impossible to steal a vein pattern located inside the finger. We propose a new identification method of finger vascular patterns using a weighted local binary pattern (LBP) and support vector machine (SVM). This research is novel in the following three ways. First, holistic codes are extracted through the LBP method without using a vein detection procedure. This reduces the processing time and the complexities in detecting finger vein patterns. Second, we classify the local areas from which the LBP codes are extracted into three categories based on the SVM classifier: local areas that include a large amount (LA), a medium amount (MA), and a small amount (SA) of vein patterns. Third, different weights are assigned to the extracted LBP code according to the local area type (LA, MA, and SA) from which the LBP codes were extracted. The optimal weights are determined empirically in terms of the accuracy of the finger vein recognition. 7Perforation of the colon by invading recurrent gastrointestinal stromal tumors during sunitinib treatment显示文摘The molecular targets of sunitinib are receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs),and this drug has also been known to exert blocking effects on the activation of KIT,which is similar to the mechanism of action of imatinib. Moreover,sunitinib has an additional anti-angiogenic effect through its inhibition of the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor activation. We report here a 70-year-old patient diagnosed with a recurrent gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST),which invaded the transverse colon and led to a perforation during sunitinib treatment. A computed tomography scan and 3-dimensional reconstruction showed necrosis of the recurrent hepatic mass and perforation of the invaded transverse colon. After percutaneous drainage of the intraperitoneal abscess,antibiotic treatment and restricted diet,the condition of the patient improved. 16Corticoreticular tract lesion in children with developmental delay presenting with gait dysfunction and trunk instability显示文摘The corticoreticular tract(CRT) is known to be involved in walking and postural control. Using diffusion tensor tractography(DTT), we investigated the relationship between the CRT and gait dysfunction, including trunk instability, in pediatric patients. Thirty patients with delayed development and 15 age-matched,typically-developed(TD) children were recruited. Fifteen patients with gait dysfunction(bilateral trunk instability) were included in the group A, and the other 15 patients with gait dysfunction(unilateral trunk instability) were included in the group B. The Growth Motor Function Classification System, Functional Ambulation Category scale, and Functional Ambulation Category scale were used for measurement of functional state. Fractional anisotropy, apparent diffusion coefficient, fiber number, and tract integrity of the CRT and corticospinal tract were measured. Diffusion parameters or integrity of corticospinal tract were not significantly different in the three study groups. However, CRT results revealed that both CRTs were disrupted in the group A, whereas CRT disruption in the hemispheres contralateral to clinical manifestations was observed in the group B. Fractional anisotropy values and fiber numbers in both CRTs were decreased in the group A than in the group TD. The extents of decreases of fractional anisotropy values and fiber numbers on the ipsilateral side relative to those on the contralateral side were greater in the group B than in the group TD. Functional evaluation data and clinical manifestations were found to show strong correlations with CRT status, rather than with corticospinal tract status. These findings suggest that CRT status appears to be clinically important for gait function and trunk stability in pediatric patients and DTT can help assess CRT status in pediatric patients with gait dysfunction.Yong Min Kwon Jessica Rose Ae Ryoung Kim Su Min Son 2017Neural Regeneration Research2017,12,9:1
