| 1 | Effect of phosphorylation of MAPK and Stat3 and expression of c-fos and c-jun proteins on hepatocarcinogenesis and their clinical significance显示文摘AIM To study the effect of phosphorylation ofMAPK and Stat3 and the expression of c-fos andc-jun proteins on hepatocellular carcinogenesisand their clinical significance.METHODS SP immunohistochemistry was usedto detect the expression of p42/44MAPK, p-Stat3,c-fos and c-jun proteins in 55 hepatocellularcarcinomas (HCC) and their surrounding livertissues.RESULTS The positive rates and expressionlevels of p42/44MAPK, p-Stat3, c-fos and c-junproteins in HCCs were significantly higher thanthose in pericarcinomatous liver tissues (PCLT).A positive correlation was observed between theexpression of p42/44MAPK and c-fos proteins, andbetween p-Stat3 and c-jun, but there was nosignificant correlation between p42/44MAPK and p-Stat3 in HCCs and their surrounding livertissues.CONCLUSION The abnormalities of Ras/Rat/MAPK and JAKs/ Stat3 cascade reaction maycontribute to malignant transformation ofhepatocytes. | 3 | Immunomodulatory effects of mesenchymal stem cells derived from adipose tissues in a rat orthotopic liver transplantation model显示文摘BACKGROUND: Acute rejection after liver transplantation is usually treated with large doses of immunosuppressants with severe toxic and side-effects, so it is imperative to find a safe and effective method for preventing and treating rejection. This study was designed to confirm the immunomodulatory effects of rat mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in vitro and investigate the tolerogenic features in a rat model of allogeneic liver transplantation. METHODS: MSCs were isolated from adipose tissue of Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats and cultured. In vitro, MSCs were added into a mixed lymphocyte culture (MLC) system to study the inhibitory effects of MSCs on the proliferation of T lymphocytes in Wistar rats. By using SD and Wistar rats as liver donors and recipients, an orthotopic liver transplantation model was established and the rats were divided into a MSC-treated group and a blank control group. On postoperative day 7, all rats were sacrificed, and the levels of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), total bilirubin (TBIL), interleukin-2 (IL-2) and interleukin-10 (IL-10) were measured. The pathological changes of liver tissue and apoptosis of hepatocytes were also assessed. RESULTS: In in vitro MLC, T lymphocyte proliferation in Wistar rats was significantly inhibited by 48.44%. In the MSC-treated group, the levels of ALT, AST, TBIL, IL-2 and IL-10 were 134.2±45.0 U/L, 162.5±30.5 U/L, 30.6± 5.4 μmol/L, 187.35±18.26 μg/L and 193.95±37.62 μg/L, and those in the blank control group were 355.6±54.3 U/L, 296.4±71.2 U/L, 145.7±28.6 μmol/L, 295.73±57.15 μg/L and 75.12±11.23 μg/L, respectively, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). Pathological examinationrevealed that the rejection in the MSC-treated group was clearly alleviated compared with that in the blank control group. TUNEL indicated that the apoptosis of hepatocytes in the MSC-treated group was milder than that in the blank control group (P<0.05). | 6 | Survival of transplanted neurotrophin-3 expressing human neural stem cells and motor function in a rat model of spinal cord injury显示文摘<正>BACKGROUND:Many methods have been attempted to repair nerves following spinal cord injury, including peripheral nerve transplantation,Schwann cell transplantation,olfactory ensheathing cell transplantation,and embryonic neural tissue transplantation.However,there is a need for improved outcomes. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the repair feasibility for rat spinal cord injury using human neural stem cells(hNSCs) genetically modified by lentivirus to express neurotrophin-3. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:In vitro cell biological experiment and in vivo randomized,controlled, genetic engineering experiment were performed at the Third Military Medical University of Chinese PLA and First People's Hospital of Yibin,China from March 2006 to December 2007. MATERIALS:A total of 64 adult,female,Wistar rats were used for the in vivo study.Of them,48 rats were used to establish models of spinal cord hemisection,and were subsequently equally and randomly assigned to model,genetically modified hNSC,and normal hNSC groups.The remaining 16 rats served as normal controls. METHODS:hNSCs were in vitro genetically modified by lentivirus to secrete both green fluorescence protein and neurotrophin-3.Neurotrophin-3 expression was measured by Western blot. Genetically modified hNSC or normal hNSC suspension(5×10~5) was injected into the rat spinal cord following T_(10) spinal cord hemisection.A total of 5μL Dulbecco's-modified Eagle's medium was infused into the rat spinal cord in the model group.Transgene expression and survival of transplanted hNSCs were determined by immunohistochemistry.Motor function was evaluated using the Basso,Beattie,and Bresnahan(BBB) scale. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:The following parameters were measured:expression of neurotrophin-3 produced by genetically modified hNSCs,transgene expression and survival of hNSCs in rats,motor function in rats. RESULTS:hNSCs were successfully genetically modified by lentivirus to stably express neurotrophin-3.The transplanted hNSCs primarily gathered at,or around,the injection site two weeks following transplantation,and gradually migrated towards the surrounding tissue. Transplanted hNSCs were observed 7.0-8.0 mm away from the injection site.In addition,hNSCs were observed 10 weeks after transplantation.At week 4,BBB locomotor scores were significantly greater in the genetically modified hNSC and normal hNSC groups,compared with the model group (P<0.05),and scores were significantly greater in the genetically modified hNSC group compared with the normal hNSC group(P<0.05). | 8 | Microwave Exposure Impairs Synaptic Plasticity in the Rat Hippocampus and PC12 Cells through Over-activation of the NMDA Receptor Signaling Pathway显示文摘Objective The aim of this study is to investigate whether microwave exposure would affect the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor(NMDAR) signaling pathway to establish whether this plays a role in synaptic plasticity impairment. Methods 48 male Wistar rats were exposed to 30 m W/cm2 microwave for 10 min every other day for three times. Hippocampal structure was observed through H&E staining and transmission electron microscope. PC12 cells were exposed to 30 m W/cm2 microwave for 5 min and the synapse morphology was visualized with scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscope. The release of amino acid neurotransmitters and calcium influx were detected. The expressions of several key NMDAR signaling molecules were evaluated. Results Microwave exposure caused injury in rat hippocampal structure and PC12 cells, especially the structure and quantity of synapses. The ratio of glutamic acid and gamma-aminobutyric acid neurotransmitters was increased and the intracellular calcium level was elevated in PC12 cells. A significant change in NMDAR subunits(NR1, NR2 A, and NR2B) and related signaling molecules(Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent kinase II gamma and phosphorylated c AMP-response element binding protein) were examined. Conclusion 30 m W/cm2 microwave exposure resulted in alterations of synaptic structure, amino acid neurotransmitter release and calcium influx. | 10 | Electrochemical performance of a nickel-rich LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 cathode material for lithium-ion batteries under different cut-off voltages显示文摘A spherical-like Ni_(0.6)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.2)(OH)_2 precursor was tuned homogeneously to synthesize LiNi_(0.6)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.2)O_2 as a cathode material for lithium-ion batteries.The effects of calcination temperature on the crystal structure,morphology,and the electrochemical performance of the as-prepared LiNi_(0.6)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.2)O_2 were investigated in detail.The as-prepared material was characterized by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,laser particle size analysis,charge–discharge tests,and cyclic voltammetry measurements.The results show that the spherical-like LiNi_(0.6)Co_(0.2)Mn_(0.2)O_2 material obtained by calcination at 900°C displayed the most significant layered structure among samples calcined at various temperatures,with a particle size of approximately 10 μm.It delivered an initial discharge capacity of 189.2 m Ah×g^(-1) at 0.2C with a capacity retention of 94.0% after 100 cycles between 2.7 and 4.3 V.The as-prepared cathode material also exhibited good rate performance,with a discharge capacity of 119.6 m Ah×g^(-1) at 5C.Furthermore,within the cut-off voltage ranges from 2.7 to 4.3,4.4,and 4.5 V,the initial discharge capacities of the calcined samples were 170.7,180.9,and 192.8 m Ah×g^(-1),respectively,at a rate of 1C.The corresponding retentions were 86.8%,80.3%,and 74.4% after 200 cycles,respectively. | Kai-lin Cheng Dao-bin Mu Bo-rong Wu Lei Wang Ying Jiang Rui Wang | 2017 | International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2017,24,3: | 14 |

Light-emitting diodes(LEDs) are fabricated by using solution process based on the quasi-two-dimensional layered perovskites. The perovskite LEDs exhibit a sky-blue emission with electroluminescence peak at 491 nm and a low turn on voltage at 2.9 V. | 12 | Serum Uric Acid is Associated with the Predicted Risk of Prevalent Cardiovascular Disease in a Community-dwelling Population without Diabetes显示文摘Objective To examine the association between serum uric acid levels and cardiovascular disease risk among individuals without diabetes. Methods We investigated the association between serum uric acid levels and the risk of prevalent cardiometabolic diseases, 10-year Framingham risk for coronary heart disease, and 10-year risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases(ASCVD) among 8,252 participants aged ≥ 40 years without diabetes from Jiading district, Shanghai, China. Results Body mass index, waist circumference, blood glucose, glycated hemoglobin, blood pressure, and serum lipids increased progressively across the sex-specific quartiles of uric acid(all P trend < 0.05). Compared with individuals in the lowest quartile, those in the higher quartiles had a significantly higher prevalence of obesity, hypertension, and dyslipidemia(all P trend < 0.05). A fully adjusted logistic regression analysis revealed that individuals in the highest quartile had an increased risk of predicted cardiovascular disease compared with those in the lowest quartile of uric acid. The multivariate adjusted odds ratios(ORs) [95% confidence intervals(CIs)] for the highest quartiles for high Framingham risk were 3.00(2.00-4.50) in men and 2.95(1.08-8.43) in women. The multivariate adjusted ORs(95% CIs) for the highest quartile for high ASCVD risk were 1.93(1.17-3.17) in men and 4.53(2.57-7.98) in women. | 17 | Connexin 43 hemichannels protect bone loss during estrogen deficiency显示文摘Estrogen deficiency in postmenopausal women is a major cause of bone loss,resulting in osteopenia,osteoporosis,and a high risk for bone fracture.Connexin 43 (Cx43) hemichannels (HCs) in osteocytes play an important role in osteocyte viability,bone formation,and remodeling.We showed here that estrogen deficiency reduced Cx43 expression and HC function.To determine if functional HCs protect osteocytes and bone loss during estrogen deficiency,we adopted an ovariectomy model in wild-type (WT) and two transgenic Cx43 mice:R76W (dominant-negative mutant inhibiting only gap junction channels) and Cx43 Δ130–136 (dominant-negative mutant compromising both gap junction channels and HCs).The bone mineral density (BMD),bone structure,and histomorphometric changes of cortical and trabecular bones after ovariectomy were investigated.Our results showed that the Δ130–136 transgenic cohort had greatly decreased vertebral trabecular bone mass compared to WT and R76W mice,associated with a significant increase in the number of apoptotic osteocyte and empty lacunae.Moreover,osteoclast surfaces in trabecular and cortical bones were increased after ovariectomy in the R76W and WT mice,respectively,but not in Δ130–136 mice.These data demonstrate that impairment of Cx43 HCs in osteocytes accelerates vertebral trabecular bone loss and increase in osteocyte apoptosis,and further suggest that Cx43 HCs in osteocytes protect trabecular bone against catabolic effects due to estrogen deficiency. | Liang Ma Rui Hua Yi Tian Hongyun Cheng Roberto Jose Fajardo Joseph J. | 20 | Promoting effect of microwave irradiation on CeO2-TiO2 catalyst for selective catalytic reduction of NO by NH3显示文摘In this work we prepared several CeO2-TiO2 catalysts for the NH3-SCR reactionusing co-precipitation with assistance of microwave irradiation.The catalytic NH3-SCR activities over CeO2-TiO2 catalysts at low temperatures are largely enhanced by the treatment of microwave irradiation,the operation temperature window is also broadened.For better understanding the promotion mechanism,the catalyst prepared by conventional co-precipitation with and without microwave irradiation treatment was characterized with H2-TPR,NH3-TPD,XPS,XRD and BET.Microwave irradiation treatment accelerates the crystallite rate of CeO2-TiO2 catalysts,and greatly enlarges their surface area by adjusting their microstructures.The resistance to SO2 and H2O is also improved via regulating the hierarchical pore structure by the microwave irradiation.Microwave irradiation treatment can also improve the redox property and increase the acid sites over the catalyst surfaces.The result of in situ DRIFTS suggests that the microwave irradiation treatment generates more Br?nsted acid sites on CeO2-TiO2-2 h catalyst,helpful in SCR reactions.XPS results show that after microwave irradiation on the CeO2-TiO2 catalysts,the surface demonstrates an elevated concentration of chemisorbed oxygen,consequently leading to better oxidation of NO to NO2.Additionally,the molar ratio of Ce3+/Ce4+has been elevated after being treated by microwave irradiation,a vital factor in enhancing the NH3-SCR activities. | Jie Cheng Liyun Song Rui Wu Shining Li Yanming Sun Hongtai Zhu Wenge Qiu Hong He | 2020 | Journal of Rare Earths2020,38,1: | 11 |
