| 1 | Development of forced degradation and stability indicating studies of drugs——A review显示文摘Forced degradation is a degradation of new drug substance and drug product at conditions more severe than accelerated conditions. It is required to demonstrate specificity of stability indicating methods and also provides an insight into degradation pathways and degradation products of the drug substance and helps in elucidation of the structure of the degradation products. Forced degradation studies show the chemical behavior of the molecule which in turn helps in the development of formulation and package. In addition, the regulatory guidance is very general and does not explain about the performance of forced degradation studies. | 2 | Congenital extrahepatic portosystemic shunt complicated by the development of hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Congenital extrahepatic portosystemic shunt,also known as Abernethy malformation, is a rare congenital malformation. It causes shunting of blood through a communication between the portal and systemic veins such as a patent ductus venous. We report 3 cases of Abernethy malformation complicated by the development of hepatocellular carcinoma. Additionally, we comprehensively reviewed all previously reported cases and highlighted common features that may help in early diagnosis and appropriate management.Patients with Abernethy malformation may have an increased propensity to develop hepatocellular carcinoma. All 5 previously reported cases, plus the three of our patients, have a type 1(complete) shunt suggesting a role for absent portal blood flow in the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma. | 3 | Transradial versus transfemoral access for anterior circulation mechanical thrombectomy: analysis of 375 consecutive cases显示文摘Objective To compare transradial artery access(TRA)to the gold standard of transfemoral artery access(TFA)in mechanical thrombectomy(MT)for stroke caused by anterior circulation large vessel occlusion.Methods The clinical outcomes,procedural speed,angiographic efficacy and safety of both techniques were analysed in 375 consecutive cases over an 18-month period in a high volume statewide neurointerventional service.Results There was no significant difference in patient characteristics,stroke parameters,imaging techniques or intracranial techniques.The median time elapsed between CT scanning and reperfusion was 96.5 min(IQR 68-123)in the TFA group and 95 min(IQR 68-123)in the TRA group(p=0.456).Of 336 patients who were independent at presentation 58%(124/214)of the TFA group and 67%(82/122)of the TRA group had a modified Rankin score of 0-2 at 90-day follow-up(p=0.093).Cross-over from radial to femoral was 4.6%(4/130)compared with 1.6%cross-over from femoral to radial(4/245),but did not meet the predetermined level of statistical significance(OR2.92,95% CI 0.81 to 10.52,p=0.088) and did not impact median procedural speed.Adequate angiographic reperfusion,first pass reperfusion,embolisation to new territory and symptomatic intracranial haemorrhage were similar in both groups.There was a significant difference in major access site complications requiring an additional procedure.None of the TRA cases had a major access site complication but 6.5%(16/245)of the TFA cases did(p=0.003).Conclusion This study suggests that using TRA for anterior circulation MT is fast,efficacious,safe and not inferior to the gold standard of TFA. | Timothy John Phillips Matthew Thomas Crockett Gregory D Selkirk Ruchi Kabra Albert Ho Yuen Chiu Tejinder Singh Constantine Phatouros William McAuliffe | 2021 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2021,6,2: | 7 |

| 5 | 经番木瓜种子甲醇分馏物长期治疗后大鼠的精子特点和睾丸超微结构显示文摘番木瓜种子的短期避孕效果已经确认,本文旨在研究大鼠长期服用番木瓜种子甲醇分馏物避孕的安全性和避孕机制。连续360天每天给雄性大鼠(n=40)口服番木瓜种子甲醇分馏物50mg kg^-1;对照组大鼠(n=40)给予橄榄油作为赋形剂。停止给药后120天对大鼠恢复情况进行测定。测量精子参数、血清睾酮水平、生育率、睾丸组织学及超微结构、血液学及血清临床化学,以评价番木瓜种子甲醇分馏物的安全性和有效性。大鼠健康状况、器官重量、血液学和临床化学均未改变,体重增加,证明了该长期治疗的安全性。Sertoli细胞中细胞核和细胞质体积减小、细胞核特征正常、胞质器中空泡形成,精母细胞和精子细胞核变性显示出生精受到干扰,这些均说明其避孕机制。Leydig细胞正常。治疗第60天在Sertoli细胞中观察到初始效果,治疗120—240天后精母细胞和精子细胞开始受影响。治疗60天后精子总数和精子存活率显著降低,精子活力完全抑制,精子异常增加,血清睾酮水平正常,不育率达到100%。停止治疗120天后,包括生育率在内的所有发生改变的参数都恢复到对照水平。本研究表明用番木瓜种子甲醇分馏物长期治疗是安全的,其避孕机制是通过对睾丸中精子细胞分化产生影响,可能由Sertoli细胞因素调节。 | Boomi Manivannan Ruchi Mittal Shipra Goyal Abdul S. | 6 | Correlation of pattern reversal visual evoked potential parameters with the pattern standard deviation in primary open angle glaucoma显示文摘AIM:To evaluate whether glaucomatous visual field defect particularly the pattern standard deviation(PSD)of Humphrey visual field could be associated with visual evoked potential(VEP)parameters of patients having primary open angle glaucoma(POAG).METHODS:Visual field by Humphrey perimetry and simultaneous recordings of pattern reversal visual evoked potential(PRVEP)were assessed in 100 patients with POAG.The stimulus configuration for VEP recordings consisted of the transient pattern reversal method in which a black and white checker board pattern was generated(full field)and displayed on VEP monitor(colour 14')by an electronic pattern regenerator inbuilt in an evoked potential recorder(RMS EMG EP MARK II).RESULTS:The results of our study indicate that there is a highly significant(P<0.001)negative correlation of P100 amplitude and a statistically significant(P<0.05)positive correlation of N70 latency,P100 latency and N155 latency with the PSD of Humphrey visual field in the subjects of POAG in various age groups as evaluated by Student's t-test.CONCLUSION:Prolongation of VEP latencies were mirrored by a corresponding increase of PSD values.Conversely,as PSD increases the magnitude of VEP excursions were found to be diminished. | Ruchi Kothari Pradeep Bokariya Ramji Singh Smita Singh Purvasha Narang | 2014 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2014,7,2: | 3 |
| 7 | Enhanced thermoelectric performance in p-type ZrCoSb based half-Heusler alloys employing nanostructuring and compositional modulation显示文摘ZrCoSb based half-Heusler(HH)alloys have been widely studied as a p-type thermoelectric(TE)material for power generation applications in the mid-temperature regime.However,their intrinsically high thermal conductivity has been found to be detrimental for the improvement in their thermoelectric figure-of-merit(ZT),which presently is far below unity.In the current work,a state-of-the-art ZT~1.1 at 873 K was realized in an optimized composition of nanostructured Zr1-xHfxCoSb_(0.9)Sn_(0.1) HH alloys by employing compositional modulation i.e.grain-by-grain compositional variations,which leads to a substantial increase in its power factor coupled with a concurrent decrease in its thermal conductivity.Significant reduction in the phonon mean-free-path is observed on Hf substitution,which is comparable to the average crystallite size(~25 nm),thus leading to a very low thermal conductivity of~2.2Wm^(-1)K^(-1) at 873 K,which is amongst the lowest reported in HH alloys.The TE device characteristics,estimated using cumulative temperature dependence model for quantitative evaluation of TE performance,yielded an output power density of~10 Wcm2 with a leg efficiency of~10%in the optimized composition of nanostructured Zr_(1-x)Hf_(x)CoSb_(0.9)Sn_(0.1) HH alloys,which is comparable to the reported efficiencies of other state-of-the-art TE materials. | Nagendra S.Chauhan Sivaiah Bathula Avinash Vishwakarma Ruchi Bhardwaj Kishor Kumar Johari Bhasker Gahtori Ajay Dhar | 2019 | Journal of Materiomics2019,5,1: | 3 |
| 8 | Ayurvedic concept of Shatkriyakala:a traditional knowledge of cancer pathogenesis and therapy显示文摘The term Kriyakala refers to the recognition of the stage of a disease's progress,which helps to determine appropriate measure to correct the imbalance in Doshas(biological factors).It is a compound expression,comprised of Kriya and Kala,where Kriya means the choice to treatment(medicine,food and daily-routine) used to improve the disturbance in Doshas,and Kala refers to the stage of progress of a disease.Sushruta,an ancient Indian surgeon,has described the concept of Kriyakala in Varnaprashnadhyaya,an ancient Vedic Sanskrit text,which seeks to explain the incidence of Varnas in terms of Doshic disturbances.Varna,in modern parlance,may be described as an inflammatory process that may lead ulceration and chronic inflammation,promoting all stages of carcinogenesis.Abnormal interactions between Prakriti(genotype) and environmental factors vitiate the Doshas and impair immunity,which can lead to aberrant cell growth and cancer.Moreover,the interaction between vitiated Doshas and weak Dhatus(body tissues) manifests as cancers of a specific organ.Shatkriyakala(six stages of progress of a disease),on the other hand,provides a framework to assess the cancer and its pathogenesis in different stages.According to Ayurvedic concepts,all cancer therapies treat the affected tissues indirectly by eliminating vitiated Doshas,rejuvenating Dhatus and restoring immunity in cancer patients.The present review describes the six stages of Shatkhyakala in detail,with an emphasis on research areas to validate the concept of Shatkhyakala.This traditional knowledge can be utilized with modern technologies to detect predisposition for cancer or diagnose cancer in its early stages. | Ashutosh Chauhan Deepak Kumar Semwal Satyendra Prasad Mishra Ruchi Badoni Semwal | 2017 | Journal of Integrative Medicine2017,15,2: | 3 |
