| 1 | Seed bank and regeneration dynamics of Emmenopterys henryi population on the western side of Wuyi Mountain,South China显示文摘Emmenopterys henryi Oliv.(Rubiaceae) is an endangered tree species that is native to China.The wild populations of E.henryi have declined rapidly because of its poor natural regeneration,but the actual regeneration processes are not yet understood.In field tracking surveys and experiments in the Wuyishan Nature Reserve in Southeast China to determine the most important stage that affects the regeneration process,seed bank characteristics,seed germination,and seedling growth dynamics were studied in the typical habitats of E.henryi,Phyllostachys pubescens and broad-leaved forests.Results showed that in both P.pubescens and broad-leaved forests,more than 70% of the E.henryi seeds were distributed in moss and litter layers,and few were found in the soil beneath them.However,seed germination in the soil layer was significantly higher than in the moss and litter layers.Seed density,overall seed quality,and germination rate in the broad-leaved forest were significantly higher than in P.pubescens forest.Seed germination was highest in the microsites around the edge of the crown projection area of E.henryi mother trees.The order of survival rate of the seedlings on different ground surfaces was soil> moss>litter.In both habitats,the average seed density was 24.9 seeds m^(-2),and the total germination rate was less than 3.5%.However,seedlings developed from only 1% of the germinated seeds,indicating that the seed germination is the most important stage in the natural regeneration of E.henryi. | Lianjin Guo Pingping Xue Mei Li Xinghua Shao | 2017 | Journal of Forestry Research2017,28,5: | 7 |
| 2 | Key CO_(2)capture technology of pure oxygen exhaust gas combustion for syngas-fueled high-temperature fuel cells显示文摘Integrated gasification fuel cells(IGFCs)integrating high-temperature solid oxide fuel cell technology with CO_(2)capture processes represents highly-efficient power systems with negligible CO_(2)emissions.Flame burning with pure oxygen is an ideal method for fuel cell exhaust gas treatment,and this report describes experimental and numerical studies regarding an oxy-combustor for treating the exhaust gas of a 10 kW IGFC system anode.The applied simulation method was verified based on experiments,and the key performance indices of the combustor were studied under various conditions.It was determined that 315 K was the ideal condensation temperature to obtain flame stability.Under these pure oxygen flame burning conditions,CO was almost completely converted,and the dry mole fraction of CO_(2)after burning was C 0.958 when there was up to 5%excess O_(2).Overall,5%excess O_(2)was recommended to maximize CO_(2)capture and promote other environmental considerations.Additionally,the optimal tangential fuel jet angle to control the liner temperature was approximately 25°.The total fuel utilization had to be high enough to maintain the oxygen flame temperature of the anode exhaust gas below 1800 K to ensure that the system was environmentally friendly.The results presented herein have great value for designing IGFCs coupled with CO_(2)capture systems. | Hanlin Wang Qilong Lei Pingping Li Changlei Liu Yunpeng Xue Xuewei Zhang Chufu Li Zhibin Yang | 2021 | International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2021,8,3: | 3 |
| 3 | Characteristics of plant calcium fractions for 25 species in Tengger Desert显示文摘Little attention has been paid to plant calcium fractions in the desert.To address the characteristic of the calcium fractions of desert plants,we collected 25 plant species in Tengger Desert,observed the calcium crystals using an optical microscope and determined water soluble calcium,acetic acid soluble calcium,and hydrochloric acid soluble calcium.To do so,we used sequential fractionation procedures to probe the relationships among different functional groups,different growth forms,or different successional stages.The results showed that the psammophyte,the late successional plants,and the drought-resistant shrub and semi-shrub all held considerable calcium oxalate crystal compared to the grassland plants,the early successional plants,and the perennial herb.With the proceeding succession,the acetic acid soluble calcium decreased gradually,and the hydrochloric acid soluble calcium increased gradually.The perennial herb had more water soluble calcium,while shrub held greater hydrochloric acid soluble calcium.The grassland plants held more water soluble calcium,while psammophyte had greater hydrochloric acid soluble calcium.This implies that the plants that are relatively sensitive to drought hold more calcium ion,while the drought-resistance plants hold more calcium oxalate.Thus,the plant calcium components are in close relation to plant drought-resistance,and of important significance in plant physiology of the desert. | HuaCong Ci XingDong lie Rong Li Wei Wu PingPing Xue YuBao Gao HaLin Zhao | 2010 | Research in Cold and Arid Regions2010,2,2: | 3 |
| 4 | Effects of soil stoichiometry of the CaCO_3/available phosphorus ratio on plant density in Artemisia ordosica communities显示文摘In soil, CaCO3 can reduce the availability of phosphorus in arid and semi-arid regions, thereby influencing plant growth. However, the effects of soil stoichiometry of the CaCO3/available phosphorus ratio (CaCO3/AP ratio) on plant density are unknown. In this study, we examined 4 Artemisia ordosica communities located in arid and semi-arid regions, and performed a pot experiment with an orthogonal design to examine the relationships between the soil CaCO3/AP ratio and plant density. The results showed that the soil stoichiometry of the CaCO3/AP ratio had a greater effect on growth of A. ordosica than either CaCO3 or AP as single factor. The influence of the soil CaCO3/AP ratio on density of A. ordosica was related to the climatic zone and the types and/or amplitudes of increases in the soil CaCO3/AP ratio. When the soil CaCO3/AP ratio was within the same amplitude and was less than 2.5, the A. ordosica density increased in the semi-arid region, whereas the density decreased with increasing soil CaCO3/AP ratios in the arid region. In the semi-arid region, when the soil CaCO3/AP ratio was within the same amplitude and the increase in the soil CaCO3 content was greater than the increase in soil AP, the A. ordosica density increased with increasing soil CaCO3/AP ratios. This means that the relationship between the soil CaCO3/AP ratio and the A. ordosica density remained the same. In the arid region, an increase in the soil CaCO3/AP ratio as a result of increased soil CaCO3 content and decreased soil AP resulted in increased density of A. ordosica. Therefore, the relationship between soil CaCO3/AP ratios and density of A. ordosica was altered by these changes in soil chemistry. | 5 | Pore Structure Characteristics of Baking-Free Slag-Sludge Bricks and Its Correlations to Mechanical Properties显示文摘In order to explore the relationship between the macroscopic properties and pore structure characteristics of baking-free slag-sludge bricks,the compressive strength and water absorption rate using aluminum industrial slag and sludge of different substitution rates were tested.Optical instruments and image analysis software were used to measure the parameters of the pore structure.Specifically,a fractal model was built based on the fractal theory,in which the fractal dimension was used as the characteristic index of the pore structure to analyze the correlation and interaction mechanism between the fractal dimension and the macroscopic mechanical properties.Based on this study,conclusions were drawn as follows:(1)The plane pore structure of baking-free bricks shows good fractal characteristics.With the increase of the aluminum industrial slag content,the fractal dimension becomes smaller and the pore structure develops well;with the increase of the sludge content,the fractal dimension becomes larger and the pore structure becomes worse;(2)As the fractal dimension of the plane pore structure increases,the compressive strength of baking-free bricks falls,and the porosity and water absorption rise;(3)The optimum content of baking-free slag-sludge bricks is aluminum industrial slag 30%and sludge 10%.After 7 days of curing,baking-free bricks boast higher performance,and fully meet the performance requirements of solid concrete bricks(MU40),which can reduce time costs,and enhance enterprise revenue. | Lei Guo Pingping Chen Lixia Guo Zhilong Xue Zi Guan Mingru Li | 2021 | Journal of Renewable Materials2021,9,10: | 2 |

| 7 | Effects of Recycled Aggregate Content on Pervious Concrete Performance显示文摘A recycled aggregate(RA)was prepared by crushing and sieving demolished discarded concrete pavements and was subsequently tested and analyzed to determine its various physical properties.On this basis,pervious concrete(PC)mix proportions were designed.Coarse RA particles with sizes of 5–10 and 10–20 mm were selected.Concrete specimens were prepared with a water–cement ratio of 0.3,an aggregate–cement ratio of 4.5,the substitute rates of RA with 0,25%,50%,75%and a single-/double-gap-graded RA mix(mass ratio of particles with sizes of 5–10 mm to particles with sizes of 10–20 mm:1:1,1:2,2:1,2:3 and 3:2).Various properties of the RA-containing PC(RPC)were determined by analyzing the compressive strength,splitting tensile strength,effective porosity,permeation coefficient and impact and abrasion resistance of the specimens.The results showed the following:The density of the RPC decreased with an increasing RA replacement ratio.The density of the RPC prepared with a double-gapgraded RA mix was lower than that prepared with a single-gap-graded RA(particle size:10–20 mm)mix.The permeation coefficient of the RPC increased with increasing porosity.The splitting tensile strength of the RPC was positively correlated with its compressive strength.The compressive strength of the RPC decreased with increasing porosity.The regression analysis showed that the impact and abrasion resistance of the RPC increased with increasing compressive strength.In addition,all of the RPC specimens met the strength and permeation requirements.This study can provide theoretical support for the application of RPC. | Lei Guo Zi Guan Lixia Guo Weiping Shen Zhilong Xue Pingping Chen Mingru Li | 2020 | Journal of Renewable Materials2020,8,12: | 1 |

To address these two questions, we performed a two-factor (soil nitrate: ammonium ratio and plant density) randomized block design and a uniform-precision rotatable central composite design pot experiments to examine the relationships between soil nitrate: ammonium ratios, the carbon: nitrogen ratios and growth rate of Artemisia sphaerocephala seedlings. Under adequate nutrient status, both soil nitrate: ammonium ratios and plant density influenced the carbon: nitrogen ratios and growth rate of A. sphaerocephala seedlings. Under the lower soil nitrate: ammonium ratios, with the increase of soil nitrate: ammonium ratios, the growth rates of plant height and shoot biomass of A. sphaerocephala seedlings decreased significantly; with the increase of plant carbon: nitrogen ratios, the growth rates of shoot biomass of A. sphaerocephala seedlings decreased significantly. Soil nitrate: ammonium ratios affected the carbon: nitrogen ratios of A. sphaerocephala seedlings by plant nitrogen but not by plant carbon. Thus, soil nitrate: ammonium ratios influenced the carbon: nitrogen ratios of A. sphaerocephala seedlings, and hence influenced its growth rates. Under moderate water stress and adequate nutrient status, both soil N:P and plant density influenced the N:P ratios and growth rates of A. ordosica. With the increase of soil N:P ratios, the growth rates of A. ordosica seedlings decreased significantly. With the increase of soil N:P ratios, N:P ratios in A. ordosica seedlings increased significantly. While the nitrogen concentrations in the plant increased slightly, the phosphorus concentrations significantly decreased. With the increase of plant density, the shoot N:P ratios and growth rates significantly decreased, which resulted from soil N:P ratios. Thus, soil N:P ratios influenced the N:P ratios in A. ordosica seedlings, and hence, influenced its growth. | 12 | Phenotypic plasticity of Artemisia ordosica seedlings in response to different levels of calcium carbonate in soil显示文摘Plant phenotypic plasticity is a common feature that is crucial for explaining interspecific competition, dynamics and biological evolution of plant communities. In this study, we tested the effects of soil CaCO_3(calcium carbonate) on the phenotypic plasticity of a psammophyte, Artemisia ordosica, an important plant species on sandy lands in arid and semi-arid areas of China, by performing pot experiments under different CaCO_3 contents with a two-factor randomized block design and two orthogonal designs. We analyzed the growth responses(including plant height, root length, shoot-leaf biomass and root biomass) of A. ordosica seedlings to different soil CaCO_3 contents. The results revealed that, with a greater soil CaCO_3 content, A. ordosica seedlings gradually grew more slowly, with their relative growth rates of plant height, root length, shoot-leaf biomass and root biomass all decreasing significantly. Root N/P ratios showed significant negative correlations with the relative growth rates of plant height, shoot-leaf biomass and root length of A. ordosica seedlings; however, the relative growth rate of root length increased significantly with the root P concentration increased, showing a positive correlation. These results demonstrate that soil CaCO_3 reduces the local P availability in soil, which produces a non-adaptive phenotypic plasticity to A. ordosica seedlings. | 17 | Diversity and geographical distribution of haptophyte Phaeocystis in the Chinese seas based on metabarcoding analysis显示文摘Phaeocystis is an important bloom-forming species and over 100 blooms have occurred since 1997 along the Chinese coasts,while only the species P.globosa was described.In this project,a total of 246 phytoplankton samples collected from the Bohai Sea,the Yellow Sea,and the East China Sea in April 2021 were analyzed to evaluate the species diversity and geographical distribution of the genus Phaeocystis based on metabarcoding 18S r DNA sequence.Four described Phaeocystis species were recognized,including P.globosa,P.pouchetii,P.jahnii,and P.cordata,and each has distinguished geographical distribution characteristics.P.globosa was the most widespread and abundant species,and P.pouchetii was found in the Bohai Sea and the northern Yellow Sea with substantially elevated abundance.P.cordata was also a widespread species,but its abundance was relatively low,while P.jahnii gathered only in the southeastern East China Sea.Water temperature,phosphate as well as ammonium contents were found to be associated with the abundance of P.globosa,P.pouchetii,and P.jahnii significantly.Moreover,two uncharacterized Phaeocystis species were detected in the Chinese seas,indicating the diversity of the genus remains underestimated worldwide. | Qingshang SONG Yue XUE Yanying ZHANG Jiehui YIN Pingping SHEN | 2023 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2023,41,6: | 0 |
